In light of COVID19, we are taking extra precautions with our Airbnb Cabin to ensure it is both safe for you to stay in and to give you peace of mind in this uncertain time so you can enjoy your stay care free. The cabin is such a wonderful escape right now and it is beautiful to be relaxing next to the river, walking around in the woods, floating in the hot tub under the stars and barbequing on the deck! First of we are asking all of our guests if they have been outside the country in the last 14 days or are showing any symptoms that they must notify us. Please let us know if either of these apply to you and we will process a refund. In addition, we are following all of the Health Canada guidelines and appropriately disinfecting and cleaning the entire cabin, bathroom, hot tub and everywhere with extra effort and care to meet and exceed the required standards. We have thoroughly researched the safety of the hot tub as well, the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention states that there is no risk of contracting the coronavirus through the use of a hot tub or pool. The cabin is such a beautiful place in the forest to relax, enjoy nature and escape. We are sure you will enjoy your stay. Thank you, Peter & Paula ------ Listing Details: Welcome to the cabin! We've spent 3 years building this cabin by hand to create a unique and magical vacation spot for you. It truly is a luxury forest hideaway. From the moment you walk in you feel at home, it is cozy and relaxing while offering all the modern amenities you need. The 100 foot long board walk welcomes you into the forest. The cabin is surrounded, 360 degrees, with decks and covered porch. A magical babbling brook called "Penny Brook" runs down the full length of the property and can be seen from cozy couch inside. The cabin is a timber famed open concept cabin with a full height loft. Upstairs the bedroom is tucked under a roof of skylights and from the queen sized bed you can see the stars at night. The kitchen is well equipped and we offer coffee and tea plus all the basic kitchen amenities you could ask for. We have high speed wifi, a turntable and record collection, a wood stove, high-end linens and a detached bathhouse with running water and a beautiful shower. For summer we offer a charcoal BBQ's for use on the deck. There are four great deck chairs outside and lots of places to hang out for evening meals or morning coffee. The bathroom is built as a separate building a few steps across the deck from the main cabin. It has a nice glass shower with a big window looking out into the forest and two shower heads. We have a hand built wood fired hot tub tucked in the woods by the river just steps from the cabin. The tub will be filled with water and ready to light a fire in when you arrive. It's a bit of a labour of love, you will want to stoke the fire and stir the water every half hour for about 3-4 hours (depending on temperature) but once it gets warm it is a magical experience to float next to the river under the spruce branches! The cabin is perfect for weekend retreats, romantic nights, anniversaries, winter getaways, celebrations, beach going summer holidays, escaping the city and spending time tucked in the forest. It is a great year-round escape.
West Dublin is a hidden gem on the south shore. It is a great mix of rural with all the amenities you need to make vacationing easy! The cabin is close to great beaches, shops, and 35 minutes to Lunenburg. The cabin is just 5 minutes from the famous La Have Bakery, two minutes to Cresent or Rissers Beach and located at the base of La Have Islands - which are a sight to be seen! We have coffeeshops near by, a local pub, a local corner store and liquor store, pizza place, bookstore, bakery, farmers market, beaches, fishing wharfs, surfing and even a skateboard shop. The area has some of Nova Scotia's nicest beaches and the cabin is 35 minutes to Lunenburg and 25 minutes from Bridgewater.
  • Amazing getaway. From the warmth of the timberframe to the record collection, you won't regret booking Paula and Peter's place. Falling asleep to the crackle of the woodstove and the song of the creek flowing by was just what we needed for a couple of nights. We will be back!

  • What a gem! We have just spent 3 nights in this cozy cottage and it was so special. Waking in the morning and exploring the small beach and then spending the afternoon at Crescent Beach was a dream. The cottage itself has so many special, personal touches and Faith-Anne was the nicest host we have ever had. I can’t recommend this place enough! We’ll definitely be back.

  • We loved our stay here and definitely recommend for a relaxing time by the sea. The hosts have done a wonderful job making you feel at home. It's a bit rustic, but makes for an enjoyable time. You can see, smell and hear the ocean from the cottage, absolutely relaxing.

    Richard2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! We really enjoyed it and had great weather and a lovely time exploring the amazing beaches so close.

    Emily2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our family had an amazing time at the cottage and were really taken with the beauty of the LaHave islands. The location offered a secluded place to enjoy the local beaches and coast while still being close to some day trips. Lunenberg is about 30 mins away and Peggy's Cove (if you're ambitious is 1.5 hours). The local shops and bakery in LaHave are also worth a visit! The cottage itself was really charming and comfortable. Thank you Faith-Anne!

This year-round home is in one of Nova Scotia's most beautiful areas, the South Shore. Known for its abundant beaches, restaurants, shopping and music there is something for everyone!
Heron's Rest is a quaint tiny home nestled in the woods on just over an acre beside one of the largest set of rapids on the Petite River. Located just 1.5 hours from Halifax, this quiet and private rental is just off the main road giving quick access to the wide range of local interest and activities. It's the perfect location for a romantic getaway for two or a personal retreat. The house is fully equipped with a wood -burning fireplace (wood is included), fridge, stove, dishwasher and laundry facilities. It will sleep 2 in the main bedroom queen-sized bed. The large deck which overlooks the river is accessed off the kitchen and includes a BBQ and outdoor dining facilities. Guests can enjoy a quiet evening on the deck listening to the river and watching the stars or build a bonfire in the riverside fire pit. This is a wonderful community close to local beaches, steeped with history and full of charm. Petite Riviere is just a few minutes away and has a general store (complete with liquor store). Have one of their wonderful cups of coffee and enjoy a few minutes on their deck sharing a "yarn" with the locals. Please note that there is no public transit here.
This is truly a Nova Scotia neighbourhood combining locals who have lived here for over 8 generations and those "Come from aways" (CFA's) who have chosen Nova Scotia as their home. It is full of art, music, nature and wonderful people.
  • If you are looking for a place to unwind and relax, look no further, this is the spot. Gorgeous river setting that you can see and hear from the cottage. Be sure to take a walk down the path to the river and out onto the rock path by the water. This is the best view of the rapids! Everything that you need is here. We brought our meals and cooked there. Then you dine at a beautiful handcrafted table overlooking the river. There was plenty of firewood for the wood stove. Such a cozy spot. Definitely highly recommend!

    Linda2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I have now stayed in Heron's Rest about half a dozen times, in winter, spring and early summer. We've found no better secluded spot within 90 minutes of Halifax. We appreciate and enjoy the closeness of the rapids-rattling river, the cozy kitchen, the wood stove, and the proximity to Risser's Beach, Crescent Beach, Broad Cove, LaHave, and other locations. You won't regret booking Heron's Rest.

    Jocelyn2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Sherry’s little cabin on the river is an amazing retreat. The cabin has everything you need and more for a comfortable stay away from the busy city life. The property is absolutely beautiful and private. We would love to return in the summer months to take advantage of the river! Thanks again!

    Lauren2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great space. The pictures do not do it justice. This is definitely a two person location but with that said there is lots of room for two. It is the very definition of quaint in the best way possible. We had two great winter days enjoying the river sounds and the enchanting fire in the wood stove. Would definitely recommend. Would be great in any season.

The loft has a double bed accessible by a ladder which could be challenging for people with mobility issues There is a day bed on the main floor that serves as a seating area as well as a sleeping area. The cottage is located on our homestead in a peaceful setting of pasture and forest. We are 5 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean and have farm animals and gardens. We have greenhouses and gardens and depending on the season, veggies can be made available. A great little getaway to enjoy the peace of nature and have the privacy of your own space.

  • Lovely little cottage, just very enjoyable all around and the hosts are just good folks, no question.

  • We loved staying in the cabin. Monika and Karl are incredible hosts and the space is quiet, peaceful, and cozy. We can’t wait to come back!

    Sarah2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cozy and stylish place! Amazing spot if you’re looking for a private location. Monika and Karl are also quick to respond to any inquiries you may have, with a smile! We will be back!

    Kassi2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful spot, the cottage was super cozy. Monika and Karl were wonderful hosts, made us feel very welcome.

    Rae2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Monika and Karl’s tiny house. It was charming, cozy, and exactly what we were looking for.

    Shawn2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • An inward and outward adventure! Private enough for quiet contemplation, yet so close to wonderful beaches, fishing villages, the car ferry and the fabulous local bakery. It's a small, private, very special cottage -- and the loft sleeping and wood-burning stove may not be tops with the marriott/hilton crowd (of which I used to be), but to me these just added to the wonderful experience and a chance to 'get away'. Cannot recommend the place, the location, and the hosts enough.

    Mark2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • If you like a tiny house visit Monika and Karl. Their house and area is real nature

    Cees2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • 5 stars all around! Monika and Karl are so welcoming when you arrive and again when you leave. The tiny house is just down the path set at the back of the property. It’s very private and close enough to Monika and Karl’s place in case you need anything. I was pleasantly surprised to see a outdoor fire pit with a cute table and chairs out by the tiny house! It was just what I needed after being out all day sightseeing. The tiny house has everything you need, it’s very clean and it’s modern. I have a peaceful stay here! You can sleep up in the loft if you’re two people or on the day bed if you’re alone.

  • The cabin was exactly what we expected from the message exchanges we had with Jill from the start. She was very quick in responding to all our queries and concerns regarding the access, which turned out to be an easy thing to manage (tide schedule). Nicely located, beautiful inside design and open space, quiet and peaceful setting... what more can we ask. Looking forward to another stay.

  • What a wonderfully charming place! It is so evident that a lot of thought, creativity and love went into the decor. The location is fabulous and so serene. Bev and John have thought of everything in terms of the amenities in the cottage. We spent 4 wonderful days using the cottage as a base for visiting friends. This is the best airbnb we have ever stayed in. It is truly "home away from home". Each day we noticed a new and interesting decoration. So fun! We will be back. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cottage with us.

  • Great place, right by the river and extremely clean!

    Peter2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • This beautifully located cabin is a real gem. Waking up after a quiet night in the comfortable bed and step out into the sun on the sunny deck, overlooking the river, already makes your day. We loved how quick and easy the communication with Bev & John was, when we spontaneously decided to stay in the area for a few days during our Nova Scotia trip. The cabin is very charming, spotlessly clean and very well equipped. We definitely recommend this place and would stay there again if we are lucky enough to come back to Nova Scotia one day. Thank you so much Bev & John for everything.

    Carla2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • It is a lovely and cozy cottage. It is sparkling clean, and the bed is comfortable. The house has an amazing view of the LaHave River. We arrived at the day when hurricane passing through the area, so the house was out of power and water. However, Bev and John are so helpful, and offered us a lot of help. John came over the next day to bring us tones of water, candles, matches, propane gas stove, and make sure we are all good. John kept providing us updates till the power was back. We really enjoy this place even though there were no power and water for part of time. John and Bev are so nice and accommodating. This is the nicest place we have stayed during our 2 weeks east coast road trip. We love to stay in the cottage again if we ever get a chance to come this area in the future.

Our farm is located a little over a km off the main road. The woodland cabin is a 20 minute walk from your vehicle into the woods. There is minimal solar lighting, a wood stove, and a propane stove for cooking. This space offers a true retreat from our busy world. You will have access to an outdoor humanure bucket toilet, a shared sauna and lots of woodland trails. Water and firewood are provided. It's a 15 minute drive to Bridgewater, 30 minutes to Lunenburg and 20 minutes to many beaches.
The cabin is very private. It is a 20 minute walk from all of the other cabins on the land. You will have access to a shared sauna that can be fired up when requested.
  • Our stay at the cabin was really lovely. It is a beautiful, secluded spot in the woods and the perfect, cozy wintery escape. Emily was very helpful and the cabin had everything we needed (firewood, matches, drinking water, etc.). We had an excellent time and would definitely recommend it to anyone!

  • This little gem on the water is one of our favorite places to get away to with our kayaks. The private setting never fails to please us. Our hosts are great. We have visited this spot on several occasions and look forward to getting back in the Spring of the new year.

  • This was a cozy and intimate stay. Everything you need in a cute little space. We loved it

    Tanya2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Our little family loved this spot so much. We would definitely book it again for the future! We enjoyed everything about it, but our favorite was the view as the sun went down.

    Sarena2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful spot! Close to so many beaches and yet so very private. We attended a wedding nearby and had the cutest space to rest our heads afterwards. My husband and I had coffee together on the porch in the morning and it was lovely. Our pre teen enjoyed space in the loft while our toddler was just so happy to be at “a little cottage”. Definitely recommend! And maybe we will make it back sometime!

    Carrie2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Travelling from Ontario this was a beautiful, tranquil location. We have never stayed in a small space like this with so many wonderful amenities! What a perfect place for a getaway. Many beaches very close by. After a day at the beach it was nice to cozy up on the pullout couch to watch a movie. Ps. Insect repellant is a must (at this time of year at least). The porch is screened in though so you are free from mosquitoes there!

    Emily & Bryce2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • This private setting is wonderful. It has everything you would want to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. The screened porch is a great place to sit in the evening and watch nature. Paddlers like us, can put our boats in the water directly in front of the cottage. We love it there. It was our third time there and it just keeps getting better. Thank you Rose and Mike. We are looking forward to going back.

  • So happy I choose the Blue Ocean cabin, it was amazing. Blew my expectations out of the water, everything was great and so private, defiantly a lovely place to spend a weekend away ! Rose and Mike thought of every small detail and it showed.

  • Kris and Anna were fabulous, warm and engaging hosts that truely put their hearts into making our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Their unique custom home on the top of a high hill gave stunning views of the coastline from our ground floor room as well as from the dining and living room. Our room was spacious and clean with a large ensuite, bar fridge stocked with pop and water, wifi and cable and direct outside access. We lingered over a wide choice of breakfast items, good coffee, animated conversation and enjoyed some lovely guitar playing by Kris. As cyclists we particularly enjoyed the proximity to some of our favorite coastal roads and beaches and Lahave bakery making a great weekend getaway from Halifax. We'll be back.

  • Anna and Kris are encredibly warm and kind people, they provide a very delicious breakfast every morning....their place is the cleanest I have seen and very stylish with a lot of warm touches. They both are fun to talk to and are helpful with any questions you might have. I highly recommend this place to anyone.

  • 11/10. Fantastic. If it’s open, stop comparing options and book it! They are wonderful, warm and the house is warm, unique beautiful and has a stunning view. Delicious breakfast and treats as well!

    J2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Anna and Kris are absolutely exceptional hosts. They met us at the door with a smile, and greeted us like old friends. The house is stunning (photos cant do it justice), really such a unique piece of art. I'll admit, after our gps took us down a tree lined back road (our fault not checking the route) in the dark I was a little bit nervous. Well any "spookiness" immediately disappeared on arrival. We spent time chatting with Anna and Kris over tea in the evening, and again in the morning with breakfast. Truly the most welcoming AirBnB I have stayed in! If we're ever in the area again will definitely return!

    Ashley2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Kris and Anna's beautiful home in Petite Riviere, on the South Shore. Their home and property is surely a place to appreciate and return to! Ana cooked us a delicious breakfast the next morning and Kris maintained the generator to ensure a comfortable stay, after the hurricane. We enjoyed Ana's enthusiasm for promoting Nova Scotia as a place to live!!They take great pride in their fantastic home and inevitably enjoy sharing it with others! We would love to come back!!

    Steve2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks to Anna and Kris for hosting us on one of our pit stops around the Maritimes! Their home is incredibly stunning. The views are fantastic. It was perfect for the quiet and low key night we were hoping for. We felt like old friends catching up around the breakfast table with Anna’s wonderful cooking and Kris playing guitar. Highly recommended!!

They are absolutely Super Hosts plus. You will enjoy .....our only suggestion would be to make sure you stay at the least 2-3 days. One day just not enough.

Enjoy peace and serenity while staying in this nineteenth century home situated on forty-three acres of pristine acreage on an island located in the Medway River while having access to all that Nova Scotia’s South Shore has to offer. Lounge in the sun or on one of the two porches, head to one of the numerous beautiful beaches, dine in or out, bike, kayak, run, jog or hike, enjoy diverse cultural activities and events from opera and theatre to live music, or day trip to your heart’s delight.
The main house at Island Cottage has a spacious interior and has the look and feel of Nova Scotian times gone by while harmoniously offering the conveniences we have come to enjoy and rely upon, melding the best of two worlds. The ever-present river and bird songs create a soft, melodious backdrop and on clear nights the multitudes of stars and the Milky Way itself provide a delightful and inspirational panorama.
The Riverbank General Store, offering general goods, a gift shop, and a restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch every day, dinner on Wednesdays but but is closed on Mondays is a short walk from the house. Pleasant walks, runs and biking can begin in any direction from the house and the residents are amiable and will likely bend your ear if given the chance.
  • We booked this stay last minute for the long weekend and had a great time! The house is beautiful right by the river and Junius was very helpful with tips and great for conversation. Love to visit again soon!

    Jennifer2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a get-away space. Large older home, true to it's era, that is well tended. Has a big screened in porch. Barn space (currently going through some rehabing) that offers a warm, open & comfortable space for a retreat gathering. Junius is a great host who is happy to let you have time to yourself, give you tips about the area or engage in a conversation. Our choice was to settle back and relax. For people who have mobility issues, note that the bedrooms are all upstairs.

    Ruth2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Junius 's house is unique in a quiet and beautiful area next to a river. We spent a long time talking with him on his screened-in porch. It was a very special experience, one that we will remember for a long time.

    Didier2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Junius is a great host and a kind soul. Is place is a quiet snapshot of old Nova Scotia farm life. It is a rustic, but well-love 170 year old farmhouse with a beautiful wide screen porch that’s perfect for a wandering evening conversation. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great (be aware it is in the restored barn building a few steps away). They we experiencing an unusual heatwave and Junius provided us with fans which provided a comfortable night’s sleep. Really enjoyed our time with our host. Recommended.

Private, waterfront, small rock beach. Launch your canoe or kayak from the front yard, to explore the islands, or Cape Lahave. Good bicycling in the area.

Short driving distances to Mahone Bay, Lunenburg, Liverpool and Bridgewater. General stores nearby; galleries, eateries in the neighbourhood. Good biking, kayaking, canoeing, swimming.
  • The view from this place was absolutely breathtaking! The cottage was even better than the pics can portray. It is private and secluded, yet within a short drive of many local gems of things to do, places to eat, and the beach. We enjoyed a fire in the evenings, either outside or by the wood oven stove each night. The night sky and listening to the ocean waves is magical. If you are looking for something a little rustic -- to reconnect with nature and the ones you are travelling with, this place is wonderful! Also, the host -- Karen -- is amazing! She had sweet welcoming touches awaiting my husband's and I's arrival and had helpful tips on local places to eat and see. She is very friendly, easy to talk to, and responds quickly to questions and messages. Highly recommend!

  • The cottage is very cute and the view is amazing. You only have to walk 5-7 minutes to get to the beach (which is never crowded!), and there is a pizza and ice cream shop at two minutes. You really feel alone in the world surrounded by all this beauty. Last thing, the bed and pillows couldn't be more confortable. I definitely recommend!

He is quick at responding to any questions. I highly recommend anyone to book his beautiful space for a nice get away. You won’t be disappointed. Hoping to stay for an extra night my next stay.

The communication with Bill is smooth and fast. If we ever come back to this part of Nova Scotia, we will check if Bill's place is available.

This is rural Nova Scotia at its best with an incredible view of the Medway River located in Mill Village just off Highway 103 between Bridgewater and Liverpool. There is a large, sunny kitchen, dining room, sun room and comfortable office with printer and scanner if you need to work from home. There are hundreds of books from linguistics to vintage Science Fiction to global economics. Our home is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers. We also have 2 friendly cats.
The house has multiple windows so lots of natural light. We also have 2 acres of woodland along the river that has been neglected over the years but we are working hard to get it under control. The spacious shared bathroom has Mediterranean-blue floor tiles, a beautiful Victorian-style bath with claw feet and the separate shower is large and roomy.
Our home is located in a small village with minimal noise or traffic. There is a small General Store and Cafe in the village. We can vouch for the delicious sandwiches, homemade soup and especially the scones. Mill Village is also close to many excellent beaches with the same beautiful white sand you would normally find in the Mediterannean or the Caribbean.

  • Bev and John's house is one of the best AirBNB Homes we've stayed in and we have stayed in many. Great location, clean and very functional. The home has everything you could want plus more. The collection of art, books and the Moose theme are over the top. We highly recommend this AirBNB. William and Salome

  • We moved recently in Nova Scotia and it was great to book John and Bev’s place for our first week. John is very friendly and was very responsive when we needed his help. The house had everything we needed and more. We enjoyed the sitting by the river and being so close to the beach. Hope to see you around :)

  • Our family of 5 had a great stay! We were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and charm found throughout this cottage - my 4-yr-old excitedly dubbed it “Moose Heaven” referring to the thoughtful folk-art and man-sized wooden moose carving and details throughout. Our family loves this area - we enjoy the Lahave Bakery treats, coffee and meals, boarding at Risser’s Beach, scenic boardwalk overlooking Petite Riviere, antiquing at various spots along the way as well as jaunts into Mahone Bay, Lunenburg or Liverpool. My son even caught a few mackerel fish off the wharf this summer!

This cozy 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage is located on beautiful Ragged Harbour on Nova Scotia's South Shore. If you are looking for a quiet retreat away from the crowds, this secluded 5 acre cottage on the ocean is perfect! Enjoy spectacular views of the water and wildlife from the covered front porch or from the gazebo.
Launch your canoe or kayak and explore the islands in the harbour in the company of curious seals or take a 5 minute walk to the gorgeous white sand beach where you are likely to encounter only seabirds and the occasional local resident. An outdoor fire pit provides a great place to relax in the evenings and enjoy some stargazing by the water. Each bedroom has a comfortable queen size bed and an adjoining full bathroom. The cottage has a spacious living room and dining area, a full kitchen and a small den, as well as a large covered front porch for enjoying the outdoors in any weather. Towels and bed linens are provided, along with all kitchenware and appliances (microwave, toaster, coffee maker, fridge and stove) - all you have to bring is your food. Non-smoking and pet-free
The Port Grocer is a 10 minute drive from the cottage and features a cafe, local crafts and some basic foodstuffs; a greater selection of grocery stores, restaurants, shops, museums and a laundromat can be found 20 minutes away in historic Liverpool.
  • The location is perfect and everything we could possibly need is provided. Donna’s local tips were also invaluable. She can’t be held responsible for the visit of mosquitoes the size of sparrows.

    Beth2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts provide excellent communication and offer any support if needed. Otherwise, you have 100% complete privacy from start to finish. The hosts have truly thought of everything guests will need for this cottage. The bedding, furniture, shower, & appliances are high quality and like new. Super clean! The cozy sitting room instantly became our favorite spot to read, relax and enjoy morning coffee. I can't recall the last time we have experienced such peace & tranquility. The 5-minute walk to the beach is perfect as well. For Day 2 we spent the whole day there - not a soul in sight. There is a wonderful detail in the decorating of this cottage. Instantly feels like a home and not a rental. Locally, we drove 15 minutes towards Liverpool and discovered Meadows Beach. The beach has change rooms and portable facilities. This is truly a hidden gem along the South Shore. Thank you Donna & Tim!

    Brendan2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Tim and Donna's cottage really is 'on the ocean.' It's literally a stone's throw away. The place was immaculate and the views were amazing. It was a wonderful getaway!

    Ray2019-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a unique and private spot on the shores of a remote bay, with only wildlife, birds and beauty as neighbors. The house is clean and well-equipped with everything you might need - including binoculars, bug spray and plenty of suggestions for exploring the area. Tim & Donna live close-by so are available if need-be. A perfect location for exploring Nova Scotia's South Shore - towns, beaches & Kedge National Park reachable within 1-1 1/2 hour drive. We loved our visit! A & S June, 2019

    Allan2019-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second visit and it was even better than the first! We brought a canoe and paddled the harbour and up through The Gut. The kids bikes to the beach in the rain and played all day. Lunch at the Port Grocer is delicious. I love the big windows and the comfy beds. I made the kids watch Top Gun on DVD. Gotta be ready for the sequel.

    André2019-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent secluded spot. Peaceful and very comfortable. The beds...oh my goodness..... used the binoculars to watch the herons. Say a coyote run onto the beach. Listened to the tide come and go. Amazing stay. Thank you so much. We cant wait to return.

  • We stayed a second time at Seas The Day and found that we loved it just as much. We saw that they had made a few small improvements that made our stay even more comfortable. It's not a far drive from Rissers beach. I recommend going there. It's a nice beach.

  • This small cottage is a true paradise which is located near the sea. It is very clean and has everything you need during a trip. • Kelly was amazing with helping us through our stay. She provided us with plenty of local tips and helped us through the process of picking a beach to go to (since there are so many near by). Very beautiful cottage, we felt right at home.

  • A sweet colorful cottage with everything you need for a getaway. The big island in kitchen open to a long table is perfect for gathering with family. The cottage is well stocked with towels, linens, beach blankets, games everything you need and then some. Close to beautiful beaches for exploring: Cherry Hill & Broad Cove are only a few minutes away and Rissers and Crescent beaches are only 15 minutes. Cottage has a wood stove for cozy evenings in. We had a great time and will definitely seek out this accommodation for future stays.

The Haussermann’s Lake House is a unique vacation home located at Fancy Lake, Nova Scotia. It offers marvellous lakeviews that you can enjoy from a jacuzzi.
This architecturally designed house is different to the traditional Cape Cod homes you might expect in the Maritimes Area, while incorporating modern elements like open concept living spaces and floor to ceiling windows. Immediately upon entering, the eye is drawn to the expansive windows, which seem to bring the outdoors into this home. The upstairs which is the Honeymoon Sweet refers to the same open concept including a living area, a newly equipped dream kitchen, a bedroom and a 4-piece bathroom inlcuding a sweet Jacuzzi with a very nice view of the lake. So whether you are dining alfresco on the balcony or simply relaxing listening to the nature, it is hard to escape the sense of peace and tranquility. The shallow Lake waters, warmed by the sun, make it an excellent time for swimming, body surfing, or for simply relaxing! For theatre , fine dining, museums, shops and other attractions, Bridgewater is approximately 10 minutes away; while Lockeport with its beautiful Crescent Beach is a 15 minutes drive. Halifax is 1,5 hours, the UNESCO town of Lunenburg , Peggy’s Cove and Whale watching in Digby are all pleasant day trips. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. I have stayed at this house with my family every summer holiday and I am quite familiar with the area. From 1st of august 2016 the downstairs apartment will be occupied permanently, but shouldn't affect your stay thanks to very thick concrete floors. 2 persons 1 bedroom 1 bathroom 1 jacuzzi 1 kitchen Balcony Garden Parking on site Heating Non-Smoking Rooms Shower Central Heating Coffee Maker Dishwasher Fridge/Freezer Ironing Facilities Kitchen Linen & Towels Supplied Living Room Private Car Space Radio Coffee 10 mins from Bridgewater Kejijmkujik Seaside Park 40 mins Kejijmkujik NP 1 h

  • Thank you for a wonderful weekend of quiet and solitude for my wife an I. This was our first AirBnB experience and it exceeded our expectations. We will be back to your wonderful property.

    Kevin2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great two night stay at the place. We found the kitchen a little confusing to use (very modern stove + oven), but otherwise loved it. The view of the lake and jacuzzi were lovely. Close enough to Bridgewater for convenience, but still feels like you’re in the forest.

    Kelsey2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our mini winter getaway to a super cute town in Bridgewater. The space was perfect for us and the bathtub was an added relaxing bonus which we would highly recommend. The hosts were both friendly and very responsive, and went above and beyond to add to the space to make it feel extra special.

    Christine2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful place to stay!! Check in/out was convenient and flexible with quick replies from Renate & Patrick. The views were amazing and the jacuzzi was wonderful on a cold winter night. I loved the heated floors and made the place extra cozy! The place was very clean and private and we would definitely come back! Thank you for the lovely stay :)

    Angela2020-02-07T00:00:00Z

Eric's Hideaway is located on Bell Island, formerly a center for fishermen and lobstermen, of which there are only a few left. Fortunately, Bell Island is now connected to the mainland by bridge. Eric’s Hideaway, or more simply the cottage, is situated on eight acres of land with 400 feet of waterfront, and has outstanding views of the LaHave Islands and the ocean. See the photos. The front deck runs the length of the cottage and is more than 500 sq ft, facing the cove, islands, and ocean.
An upstairs balcony gives an even higher view. The steps from the deck lead down to the water. There are three separate peninsulas on the property which can be ventured on to go further out into the water. Inside, there are four bedrooms, one with a queen bed, two with full-size beds, the fourth with a twin bed and bunk beds. Three of the four bedrooms are upstairs, one of them having a balcony. The fourth bedroom is downstairs overlooking the deck and ocean. There is a full kitchen with a new stove, refrigerator, microwave, new washer and new dryer. (Sorry, there is no dishwasher.) A state of the art water treatment system was installed in 2017. There is a large kitchen table. In addition, there is a charcoal grill on the deck. We have two bathrooms. The downstairs bath has a shower but no tub; the upstairs has a claw-foot tub, but no shower. We provide towels, linens, bedding, and dishware. The large living room faces out over the deck through large windows. There is a 40-inch high definition TV with satellite service and internet service, but renters must provide their own computers. The cottage has electric heat, with each room having its own thermostat. (Please make sure the thermostats are turned off when not needed.) Nearby Attractions The cottage is seven minutes from the coastal Lighthouse Route. The LaHave Islands Museum, which is free, is only a 10 minute walk, and is a worthwhile starting place to get a feel for the history and culture of the area. Crescent Beach is a beautiful mile long beach on the ocean used for swimming and wind-surfing. Cars drive on the beach and park next to the berm. On the other side of the berm is a widely used area to go clamming at low tide. Crescent Beach is 2 miles from the cottage. After driving past Crescent Beach, if one takes a left turn, and drives a couple of miles, one encounters Risser's Beach Provincial Park, which also has a fine sand beach, a boardwalk through a marsh, a snack bar, and excellent information posters about local wildlife. The beach itself is not visible from the road. A couple of miles further, one comes to Petite Riviere, which was discovered by Samuel de Champlain in 1604. At the main intersection of the tiny town is the General Store which also serves as a Nova Scotia Liquor Store outlet. If one takes a right at the intersection of Petite Riviere, in a few miles one comes to the Petite Riviere Vineyards which is open to the public for wine tastings. If instead of turning left, one takes a right turn from Crescent Beach, about ten miles away is the Village of LaHave. Just before reaching LaHave, on the right is Fort Point, which was the first capital of New France, i.e. French Canada. There is a museum at Fort Point open most of the year. In the village of LaHave, there is the incredibly popular LaHave Bakery, full of unique baked goods and various sandwiches, pizzas, etc. The LaHave Islands Area is saturated with artist’s studios and art shows. A short drive on any of the local highways will reveal this fact. You can’t miss them. Activities In the summertime, there are numerous seasonal activities - musical events, fairs, artist shows, boat shows, craft shows, and other celebrations. The Nova Scotia Visitor's Guide, a free brochure handed out by the province, should be consulted for the dates and places of these events. The Osprey Golf Club, just outside Bridgewater, is a championship golf course and by far the best in the area, although there are other golf courses nearby, usually only nine holes. (The 9-hole courses, such as at Chester and Liverpool, have the advantage of offering you a better opportunity to slice a ball into the Atlantic Ocean.) Kayak tours, horseback riding, and sometimes boat tours can usually be arranged in the summertime. At White Point Beach, about 45 minutes south of the cottage, one can get a day pass to use the facilities, including boats and pool. Nearby, there is also an environmental park area open to the public. Short Trip Attractions The beautiful small city of Halifax, with its spectacular harbor, is an hour and a half away. Peggy's Cove, about 1 1/4 hours away, is an artiist's paradise that is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Nova Scotia. Lunenburg, Chester, Mahone Bay and Shelburne are four well-preserved fishing villages, often used for movies taking place in earlier ages. All are within forty minutes drive.

Check out Rissers Provincial Park, Crescent Beach, Broad Cove, Medway River and more. There is SO MUCH TO DO!
  • Excellent view!! Great space.

  • Beautiful setting and view. Convenient location to explore the South Shore. Daun was quick to respond and very helpful. We had booked our trip well in advance and just before we arrived TS Dorian hit. The area was without power for 3 days but Daun still had the apartment ready for us. I would book again. Thanks Daun!

    Carolyn2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Daun's place is perfectly located close to many great attractions on the south shore, including LaHave, Crescent Beach, and Rissers. Lunenberg and Mahone bay are only a short trip away (by ferry or drive). Her home is cozy yet spacious, slightly rustic and exceptionally clean. Everything you would need for your stay is provided, including a fully equipped kitchen. Beds are a bit firmer than I prefer; however, she has provided quality linens and pillows which made our sleep comfortable. There are fantastic views from her place, and waterfront access. Host is warm and hospitable, and communication was quick and easy. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

  • Great location; the views from kitchen and living room are mesmerizing. A tiny walking beach just behind the house and many swimming and wading beaches nearby. The flat is very comfortable with everything you need and lots of fun art. Look forward to returning, especially when the back deck is completed.

Launch your kayaks from the front lawn, or borrow ours. Take in the amazing view and sunsets from the large new deck. Enjoy this newly renovated, tastefully decorated cottage which has air conditioning and heat. Directly on the ocean, you will be so pleased with this ideal location!
This little cottage was once the home of a well known fisherman and boat builder. It is currently decorated with a mixture of antiques and modern furniture. With air conditioning for the hot summer days, and a heating unit for the chilly nights of fall, this cottage is perfect for vacations from May to October. The kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, cutlery, cooking essentials, microwave, coffee maker, blender. All bedding, towels, linens are included. We also include beach chairs, beach towels, hair dryer, fans and a propane BBQ for your enjoyment. There is a TV with a DVD player and an assortment of videos for all the family. This cottage is located on the Lahave Islands - a charming traditional fishing community. There is also a ferry which can take you to nearby historic Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you will find many fantastic restaurants and shopping venues.
  • Michelle’s cottage was just like the photos- simple and charming and spacious. We loved borrowing the kayaks and paddling around the whole island and coming back to a hot shower and relaxing on the deck in the sun overlooking the quiet cove, with blue herons fishing on the rocks close by. The furniture is very comfy and the kitchen is super roomy. It felt like we had known the place forever, like a family cottage. The history of the place is interesting and you can imagine what it used to be like with its wide floorboards and wooden vaulted ceiling. It was very clean, well stocked and Michelle had thought of everything a guest might need, including bug spray, which we forgot to bring (not that we needed it much!). The area of LaHave to Petite Rivière Bridge and beyond offers tonnes of charm, beaches, cafes (our favourite was Ploughman’s), art galleries and really interesting and friendly people, some locals and some who visited from away and never left. We could easily see why. Enjoy your stay, we sure did!

    Meghan2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • This little cottage was beautifully situated on the ocean. Sunsets and evening paddles were very special. The place was clean and very accurately represented. We had everything we needed to make us feel at home. I hope we can return again next year.

  • The location is superb, especially for kayakers. The cottage is really clean and nicely furnished. Michelle was a great host: responded very quickly and came to greet and welcome us when we arrived. Highly recommended.

  • Anna and Kris were incredibly sweet and wonderful hosts! They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was amazing! I can’t say enough great things about them! We will be back! ☺️

    Tiffany2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Anna and Kris are the most friendly hosts you can imagine. Their lovely (very unique) home is located in a private spot on the South Shore with views of the ocean. It is spotlessly clean, very comfortable, and totally relaxing. Breakfast was a highlight as was the impromptu jam session between my husband and host Kris...musicians are sought after here! Thanks Anne and Kris for your kind welcome, we will be back! Bria and Paul

  • Anna and Kris are kind and welcoming; they are always happy to share their story, ideas for exploring, and food with you! Their home is also sparkling clean and beautiful, on the top of a hill with a great view of the ocean. Definitely worth the stay! :)

    Nicole2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Anna and Kris's place is stunning. Its a hidden gem on top of a hill that provides a 20 mile view in practically every direction. Their home is absolutely stunning and they are so welcoming. Could not recommend this place more highly. Its our second time being there in a 2 month period.

  • Wow, what a view! This oceanside apartment had all the necessary amenities for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The outdoor space added even more to the experience. Paul and Darlene were helpful and considerate hosts. The unique location, at least when we were there, allowed for enjoying both the sunrise and sunset. We saw seals and a number of birds just looking out the windows at the water.

  • This is a wonderful stay for an individual or a couple that want a peaceful respite. It is a small apartment with many amenities at your disposal. The view of the bay with its wildlife is beautiful. Sitting inside tastefully decorated unit, on the comfortable reclining chairs, you sit back, relax and enjoy the peaceful Nova Scotia of rural fishing villages. Many tourism attractions to visit including a secluded white sand beach nearby in short driving distance. Paul and Darlene were wonderful hosts offering tips on places to see and dining out.

  • 'By The Sea' is even better than the pictures! The accommodations are spacious, comfortable and clean. The large kitchen is great for preparing some light meals .... the sitting area is inviting to watch the beautiful outdoors .... the bathroom is fully equipped with amenities ... the bed is comfy ... couldn't ask for more. There is so much beauty to explore in Nova Scotia, and we found this was a perfect home base to go north to Lunenburg, and then go south to explore the quaint sea-side towns. Perfect place to recharge!

  • We stayed for 2 nights in the cabin called hummingbird 😀 we thought it was great .. very clean and cozy😀 lots of room to sleep and nice deck to sit out on. Close to another cabin but it was only booked for one night we were there . Very peaceful

    Carla2018-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful time staying in the Bunkies, they are surprisingly spacious! The water access was a bit misleading as you cannot get to the water. We all ruined our sandals while being shin deep in mud. Aside from the water access we had a great time and would gladly stay again.

Enjoy the sights and sounds of crashing surf and spot the resident colony of seals along over 200 feet of unspoiled oceanfront at this breezy haven on a 1 1/2 acre lot, then step into the sunken tub with stunning sea views. Pops of nautical navy and coastal accents make for a stylish seaside home.
Our home is tastefully decorated with 3 bedrooms (2 upstairs and one on the main floor), 2 bathrooms, a large open concept kitchen, living room, sunroom and a finished loft games room above the garage. The house was designed to give every opportunity of ocean views. You will not be able to miss the sights and sounds of crashing surf or admire the colony of seals that have made Apple Cove their home. The house boasts a well stocked kitchen, linens, towels, iron + ironing board, hair dryer, TV, satellite, wifi, pingpong table, beach chairs and much more. There is so much to see and do in the area but after arriving at this idyllic property you may just want to stay put.
The house is right on the Lighthouse Route, so there's easy access to all the area's attractions. Beautiful Cherry Hill Beach is just over a kilometre away. Green Bay Beach, Rissers Beach and Crescent Beach are all within a 15-minute drive. There are excellent hiking trails at Gaff Point for the nature enthusiast. The house is a 90-minute drive the spectacular Peggy's Cove Lighthouse.
  • We had an exceptional stay at Lori’s house. We really felt at home, except it is even better decorated than home. Nothing was missing, the house is quiet and the location and views very peaceful. It was perfect with our 21 month old son, we enjoyed good family time to explore this part of Nova Scotia. We discovered great hikes and beaches just a short drive away.

  • Lovely location with great views. The open-plan living space was especially well thought out.

    Jonathan2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • We very much enjoyed our restorative 13-night stay in this beautiful, spacious, comfortable and welcoming home. The house has been lovingly designed and beautifully set up for guests. Every amenity you could possibly want for a relaxing holiday sojourn has been anticipated and provided. We found the house sparkling clean, with the best-equipped kitchen of any place we’ve rented, thoughtful touches such as a basket of treats set out for us, and lots of information about places to go and things to do in the area. The owners left a welcoming note, writing that they hoped our stay would be wonderful—and it was! As lovely and comfortable as the house is, the best feature by far is the scenery. As soon as you walk in the front door, you see through the kitchen, with its wide bank of windows, to a private, tree-framed ocean vista. Wall-to-wall windows in both cosy sitting rooms also look out over the gorgeous ocean view. The upstairs bathroom features a large elevated tub, and enjoying a leisurely soak while taking in the sight and sound of the waves rolling in may be the second-best thing to do on the South Shore! (The best thing is walking along Cherry Hill beach—see below.) I loved the way this art-filled house highlights the original work of Maritime artists and craftspeople. As to the location: it’s an easy, picturesque drive along the Lighthouse Route to beautiful towns such as Mahone Bay and Lunenburg (highly recommended: don’t take the quickest route to Lunenburg. It’s worth taking the ferry across the river at LaHave and then taking the 332 for a gorgeous drive along the shore). Nearby Risser’s beach is great for swimming, and also has a pretty boardwalk trail through a salt marsh. We stopped several times at the LaHave Bakery for breakfast, lunch and treats, taking our food out to the end of the dock so we could gaze over the river at yet another picturesque view while enjoying a tasty meal. Cherry Hill is very quiet at night (plus, if you’re lucky, you will get a clear night and re-discover what a star-filled sky looks like). The best part of our stay here was the proximity to nearby Cherry Hill beach, with its austere beauty and fabulous seaside walks. There are never more than a few people at a time on this vast beach (check online tide charts so you can figure out the best times to go). Lori was an exceptionally attentive host, responding quickly to emails in the process of arranging our stay and to any questions we had while at the house. It’s clear that she truly wants her guests to enjoy their time in her home and to learn to love the South Shore as her family has—which is easily accomplished!

    Catherine2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as expected and more!! So much space, super clean, staple pantry / household items stocked up to make the stay feel homey. Highly recommend, you will not be disappointed!

    Monica2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We knew we were about to have an extraordinary retreat when we stepped into the doors - Lori and Will have created such a beautiful home. We immediately felt welcomed. The home is very spacious and great for family (game room with ping pong table was awesome) The windows that span the back of the home gives you a gorgeous view of the ocean. They truly put lots of heart and detail into this home. We loved it here! If you’re going this way, this is a great place to stay!

    Shawn2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We are a family of 5 including 3 twenty-somethings and fully enjoyed our stay at the Cherry Hill Beach house. There was more than enough room for individual and together time, including a games room! At first this one might appear “far” down the shore, but the scenic drive and the experience you can have is definitely worth the trip. if you are looking for a high end yet casual, private spot which is fully updated right on the ocean with an amazing beach just down the road, this is the place!

    Dana2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • An excellent hub for those looking to explore the Southern Shore, tour the lighthouse route, experience great beaches and local artisans. It was nice to return home to a beautiful spacious beach house topped off with the sound of the surf. Thanks Lori!

  • This is an amazing AirBnB. It ranks as one of the top AirBnB’s I have rented. So many ‘extras!’ The hosts have thought of everything. Loved exploring the area. The locals are so friendly! A wonderful way to start summer!
