  • A unique and special place with amazing design. Linda is a lovely host. Waking up to nothing but birdsong on Sunday morning was wonderful. This is a superb location, close to several historical sites, walks, lovely restaurants and pubs...a gem.

  • We had a lovely few nights at the Pink Tower. Found it difficult to find but it was very dark when we arrived! The place was very clean and Linda was very helpful. The tower is about 20 mins drive from anything but this was fine for us. Overall very cosy..bed was especially cosy and not built for anyone over 6 foot! Hopefully we will be able to return one day.

  • Pink Tower was absolutely delightful for a very relaxing weekend. It has everything we needed as we had decided to have a self catering weekend. However our host Linda also recommended local pubs to eat to help us anyway. Very quiet location so very peaceful. Only 20 mins from Salisbury. Would definitely book again. Thank you Linda.

A cosy, rural retreat in the beautiful Chalke Valley, just a 10 minute drive from the Cathedral City of Salisbury. Raglands Upper Mews is in the grounds of a family owned country house set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Perfect for getting away from it all and exploring the local countryside, Salisbury Cathedral, Stonehenge and much more. Click my profile picture to see the other property I host at the same location.
Renovated to a high standard throughout with everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The living area is an open plan kitchen, sitting and dining room. There is a butterfly table which can be set to seat 4, a big comfy sofa, a TV, books and some family games. The kitchen is immaculate, with all new appliances. On arrival there will be tea, coffee, biscuits, bread and preserves. The bathroom has a bath with shower and there is a heated towel rail. Towels, loo roll and hand soap all provided. There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other has two singles. There is a wardrobe, large chest of drawers and a nightlight for children. From the windows you can see down to the river Ebble and watch the wildlife in the wooded area. Outside you have a private area in our grounds. A sunken, almost hidden herb garden, with a dining table and chairs, bench seat and BBQ. A footpath runs along our drive and within minutes you can be in open fields with breathtaking views and beautiful walks.
There are two village shops about a 5 minute drive away from us in opposite directions. Chalke Valley Stores, locally known as the Hub, comprises a shop, post office and a coffee shop. It stocks lots of fresh food from local suppliers and while you are picking up your supplies you can indulge in a delicious cream tea. Coombe Bissett Stores is a traditional village shop and post office, with essentials and local produce. The ancient historic town of Wilton, is 7 minutes away where you will find a larger selection of shops, including a large Co op. The Barn House Bed and Breakfast is a perfect blend of old and new and offering a quiet, self-contained refuge in the centre of the picturesque Chalke Valley village of Broad Chalke.
Nestling in the attractive Chalke Valley village of Broad Chalke, close to the World Heritage Site of Stonehenge and near to the handsome cathedral city of Salisbury and the former capital of the ancient kingdom of Wessex, Wilton, the Barn House Bed and Breakfast is the perfect base to explore this unspoilt region. The Jurassic Coast, the beautiful beaches of the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset, Corfe Castle and the historic city of Winchester are all within an hour's drive, as are all within easy reach, as are a variety of National Trust properties including Hardy's Cottage (the birthplace of Thomas Hardy) and Clouds Hill (home to T.E. Lawrence).
  • First and foremost Susie is a true Superhost!! She truly makes all aspects of your visit warm and welcoming! Starting with a fresh baked loaf of sourdough brea awaiting us upon arrival, all types of other treats were available either complimentary or for purchase at a very reasonable price. The accommodation is a converted barn, which was very cosy and comfortable. The accommodation is sparkling clean and the pictures fo not do it justice. The location is ideal for those exploring Salisbury (15min), Bath (50min) or the Jurassic Coast. Broad Chaulke has a walkable pub with great food. A beautiful English countryside to walk and explore. We have stayed at numerous AirBnB places and Susies was among the best experiences!! Communication and check in were timely and accurate! Thanks Susie we plan to return soon!

    Dean2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We all felt right at home as soon as we arrived. It was the little thoughtful touches and all the toys that made us want to spend all our time at ‘home’. My daughter wasn’t too happy when I told her we were leaving. Thank you Susie for welcoming us so warmly and I will recommend your beautiful place to anyone looking to stay in the area.

    Sarah2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The barn house is much more than you can expect from the photos. Susie was very nice and she got in touch as soon as we made a booking. Everything was spotless, very cosy and comfortable. It really made you feel at home and not in an Airbnb.

    Juanlu2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • 100% recommend a stay at Susie's in the lovely converted barn annexe. Susie is a very welcoming and helpful host and went out of her way to recommend and book a lovely pub/restaurant table for us in The Horseshoe Inn (highly recommend) and help us with anything we needed. The accommodation is warm, cosy, immaculately presented and as other reviewers have mentioned - the photographs really do not do the place justice! The rooms are spacious, warm and with many extremely thoughtful touches. My children absolutely loved the games area and views out over the garden. We had some very competitive games of table football too! Although there is no Kitchenette as such, Susie has provided everything you need for a very lovely stay - a fridge with milk, butter, orange juice, jam, fresh fruit, homemade marmalade, some lovely homemade cakes and sourdough bread (makes amazing tasting toast in the morning). Selections of teas and coffees, cutlery and crockery. Microwave and Toaster. There are lots of thoughtful touches throughout the property and easy parking outside the entrance. The Horseshoe Inn was only a short drive away and the food and hospitality was second to none. There are many walks in the area and we hope to go back and explore further in the near future. We did all manage to go and see the watercress beds though and have a wander, before heading south to the New Forest. Susie's place is a perfect base to explore many varied areas - Stonehenge, Salisbury, The New Forest and south coast, Shaftesbury, Bath...the list continues. The accommodation is very clean and nice and quiet - everyone slept really well. Thank you again for a wonderful stay Susie.

  • We arrived from the airport at 9ish in the night and Susie was there to help us checked in. The place was sparkling clean and comfortable. We had very good sleep on the comfortable beds, we much needed that since we had a long flight. Their place is peaceful and quiet, not too Long a drive to Stonehenge and Salisbury town. Will recommended this place to anyone who loves a cozy, clean n comfortable home away from home.

Berry Barn is a beautifully refurbished house in the heart of the Chalke Valley. We have spent 3 months refurbishing the house to a modern, beautiful standard. situated in the picturesque village of Broadchalke, nestling in the chalke downland in the South Wessex Downs ANOB.
Wonderful house with beautiful master bedroom featuring a freestanding bath and exposed beams. There is a woodburning stove in the large sitting room with and extra TV / games room. Kitchen diner with utility room attached. The kitchen table can sit 6/8 people. The house has a private garden with a gorgeous patio which is facing south west. There are meadow footpaths direct from the house which makes for really lovely walking as well as through the village where there is a lovely, award winning shop for your essentials and a cafe attached too!. You can also walk to the Chalke Valley watercress beds in the village which are lovely to see and they sell delicious watercress there too! The house is a 4 bedroom house which can sleep up to 10 with the use of an extra single guest bed and a double sofa bed (which is in the TV snug room - separate from the living room). We would be very happy to set these two up at an additional cost of £20 a bed per night. Please note the the fourth bedroom is a single bedroom which is a linked bedroom. There is plenty of parking with undercover parking for two cars.
  • Henry was absolutely brilliant as a host. He was always ultra-responsive and accommodating with my request for an early check-in and general questions. The place itself far exceeded our expectations. It had everything and more that we could think of and both children and adults enjoyed themselves alike. Thoroughly recommend Henry and Berry Barn - a real jewel!

    Sachin2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic cottage that is both spacious yet incredibly cosy. The surrounding village is delightful and it's a short drive to Salisbury. My colleagues and I stay here while performing a theatre show for a short run and it was everything we needed. A very relaxing and comfortable stay. Henry was communicative, helpful and clear. Would be very happy to be able to stay here again.

    Adam2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous house with stunning large bedrooms. Cosy space to relax and a massive kitchen. Lots of room for parking too. Our stay was perfect.

    Jamie2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Henry’s place was clean, well-presented and perfectly located for lovely country walks and pub lunches. Would highly recommend!

    Helen2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • From start to finish everything was perfect! Henry was very helpful and there were lots of lovely touches in the house for Christmas like a tree and some other decorations. The house was perfect for our family Christmas and the pub is good too! One tip would be to take wellies - we had loads of rain and could have done with taking ours as the lane to the house was starting to resemble a lake when we walked the dogs!

    Steph2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • We've stayed two nights at Henry's house in December. House is very neat, clean and spacious. Fireplace, tidy backyard and relax atmosphere, in other words /all I want for Сhristmas/ ^^

    Broad Chalke, England, United Kingdom

A spacious light bedroom suite in a converted cob outbuilding now part of our family home in the beautiful village of Broad Chalke. Uniquely located between the award-winning village shop and local pub the flexible accommodation is suitable for families and couples looking to enjoy a village setting while being close to the main attractions of this beautiful area. We are 8 miles from the Cathedral City of Salisbury, with Stonehenge, Bath, Bournemouth and The New Forest all within easy reach.
The cob building to the rear of our property has had many uses over the years. Originally an open barn it was converted and linked to the main house and was an art gallery for sometime before further work created the arrangement you see today. The building has remained as additional accommodation for family and friends staying over until our decision to begin Airbnb hosting. The large first floor suite comprises a spacious bedroom with ensuite shower room and a separate sitting room with two sofabeds. The accomodation is accessed off of the kitchen where breakfast is served. The flexible accommodation is a generous space for a couple, but using the sofa beds in the sitting area adjacent, there is plenty of space for the kids too. If you are willing to share the beds and the ensuite with good friends/family then groups of adults can be accomodated (please contact us to discuss). Whilst the secluded surrounding area is ideal for getting away from it all, free Wi-Fi and Sky TV allow you to keep in touch with the world should you want to. Outside you are welcome to use the garden areas with the choice of two sunny terraces to relax and take breakfast on (weather permitting). The local pub, literally next door, which offers good local beers and a restaurant, whilst the village shop, post office and coffee shop, housed in a former chapel provides the opportunity to buy or try local produce right on the doorstep. Broad Chalke is served by local bus routes, has a plethora of footpaths and bridleways leading from the village into the beautiful countryside and is an ideal starting point for keen walkers and cyclists alike. The village is also home to two unique attractions The Chalke Valley History Festival and Gurston Down Speed Hill Climb. Our property is within walking distance of the festival ground and only mile-and-a-half from the hill climb course. ‘The Loft’ at Ivon House provides calm, well equipped space to relax and enjoy the stunning Chalke Valley and its surroundings and we look forward to you joining us in our family home.
Broad Chalke is a quiet village in the Chalke Valley. An area of outstanding natural beauty, featuring tranquil riverside walks and far reaching views from the valleys ridges.
  • Very spacious accommodation in our own wing of the property, which is in the centre of Broad Chalke. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with breakfast set out in the kitchen downstairs, heated by a homely Aga. A good place to stay whilst visiting our relatives locally - thanks Damon

  • Great directions and easy to find, the annexe is next to the main house with some lovely gardens. A lock box is in place in case of later check ins. The annexe itself is exactly as pictures, extremely clean with great facilities (fast wifi, fully equipped kitchen, hot water, extremely comfy bed, Egyptian cotton towels, food and milk provided for breakfast). I would 100% stay again. Thank you!

A cosy, rural retreat in the beautiful Chalke Valley, just a 10 minute drive from the Cathedral City of Salisbury. Raglands Lower Mews is in the grounds of a family owned country house set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Perfect for getting away from it all and exploring the local countryside, Salisbury Cathedral, Stonehenge and much more.
Newly renovated to a high standard throughout with everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. A larger property than Raglands Mews 1 (see my other listing), benefiting from a spacious kitchen with dishwasher, a dining area and lounge with a log burner. The living area is an open plan sitting and dining room, with a log burner for cosy winter nights. The kitchen is immaculate, with all new appliances. On arrival there will be tea, coffee, biscuits, bread and preserves. The bathroom has a bath with shower and there is a heated towel rail. Towels, loo roll and hand soap all provided. There are two bedrooms, one with a king size bed, the other has two singles. A folding bed is available and can be set up between the single beds, but this is only suitable for children - see photo. From the windows you can see down to the river Ebble and watch the wildlife in the wooded area. A footpath runs along our drive and within minutes you can be in open fields with breathtaking views and beautiful walks. Access to the property is up our long private drive. The Mews is situated on 5 acres of landscaped gardens and paddocks, across the courtyard from the main house. If we are home we will be more than happy to check you in on arrival but if not there is a key box for easy access, which means we can be flexible with late check ins. Ample parking for two cars is directly outside the property. There is a small fountain close to the entrance of the Mews so small children will need to be supervised. We can supply a travel cot (no bedding) on request.
Wilton is also home to Wilton House and Gardens with the very popular adventure playground for the kids, a firm favourite with ours. For cyclists, part of the Wiltshire Cycleway runs along the valley. Salisbury race course is a couple of minutes drive away. We are just a few minutes from Broad Chalke, the home of the Chalke Valley History Festival, which takes place at the end of June each year. It’s the largest festival dedicated entirely to history in the UK. Also well situated for Gurston Down speed hill climb. The Chalke Valley is a great base for exploring the South West of England. Bath, Winchester, Shaftesbury, the New Forest and the world famous Jurassic coast of Dorset are all within easy reach by car. Salisbury Cathedral is a 10 minute drive away. World famous Stonehenge is a 20 minute drive. Paultons Park with Peppa pig world is a 35 minute drive. Longleat is a 50 minute drive.
  • We had a lovely time, beautiful quiet location. Well presented property with great facilities, we really enjoyed the log burner in the evenings. An OS map of the local area would have been useful as we forgot to bring ours!

  • I have stayed a few times at Jade’s smaller property when on businesss, and took advantage of the two bedroom property as there were four of us for a week. The property is spacious and very stylish. Coming from a warm climate we found the heating very efficient and enjoyed the log burner. Jade could not have been more helpful.

    Jonathan2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • An immaculately clean and comfortable cottage. The cottage was warm, very tastefully furnished and well equipped. We appreciated its tranquil setting and beautiful rural views. Communication with Jade and information about how everything worked was clear and helpful.

  • We had the most amazing stay at Roger’s place. We knew from the photos how nice it looked but in person it was just beautiful. Roger was great and let us know he was around if we needed his help. It was so peaceful around the area, lovely for walks and bike rides. The inside of the home was spotless, cosy, stylish and had everything you needed! We would love to come back. Thanks so much Roger.

    Kerry2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • This rent is a proper gem. Get it while you can .

    Dean2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Roger’s place is fantastic. We wanted a place with space, a fireplace and a breathtaking view and that was it! Our children, my wife and I all loved it.

    Antoine2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, what can we say about this amazing place, Roger is a fantastic host who gave a thorough walk through of the accommodation which is absolutely stunning! The accommodation was decorated with a Christmas tree and various Christmas decorations which made it a cosy and a homely place, the view through the large end window was absolutely stunning! Some other amazing touches provided were fresh bread and butter and tea and coffee which were provided on arrival, the pictures don’t do the accommodation justice it really is amazing, the log burner added to some cosy nights too! We will gladly be back to this absolute gem!

    David2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is very stylish and spotlessly clean. We really enjoyed spending time there and especially liked the log burner! Roger was available as needed and had lots of local information. Highly recommend the place and hope to visit again and explore the area a bit more.

    Michelle2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Roger and Linda's beautiful place is a true AirBnB gem. The kind that (for a second) makes you wonder whether you should review it at all because you know that, once the word is out, it will be difficult to find any availability for your return visits! Fortunately, Roger and Linda are such welcoming and warm hosts that, of course, you would never dream of not supporting them. The space is amazing and the photos do not do it justice. The kitchen is incredibly well-equipped with brand new appliances and every kind of tool, dish or pan you could wish for. The living/dining/kitchen area is vast and vaulted and the views across the countryside towards the south coast through the full height windows are spectacular. The wood burning stove also makes it warm and cosy. Immaculately clean and very new bathrooms with underfloor heating, comfy beds and good linens all contribute to the feeling that a lot of thought has gone in to making a dwelling that is a home from home. To top it off, we arrived (later than we planned) to find a generous assortment supplies in the kitchen, including home made bread, butter, milk, tea, eggs, coffee and biscuits. If only all hosts were as thoughtful. Although they live next door, Roger and Linda gave us our privacy but were always on hand to help with local recommendations. Very highly recommended!

    Dominic2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had a lovely time at Chase Views. The accommodation is excellent with everything you need, and the views are stunning! Roger and his wife are the perfect hosts, on hand for anything you need. Highly recommended

    Jennifer2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • The photos look fantastic but don't compare to the real thing. The standard is exceptional and the views are stunning, Linda and Roger are great hosts and have an eye for detail. This place is perfect if you want a beautiful quiet countryside location and easy access to Wiltshire, Dorset & Hampshire. There are plenty of cute villages and great country pubs. We want to come back!

  • 10/10 We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay with these friendly hosts in their beautiful house. Louise and Peter made us feel very welcome, helped us with transport, provided tasty breakfast, gave us advice on local attractions and even let us pet their dogs! The house annex we stayed in was just great, with bedroom, bathroom and a small chilling area, also a big balcony overlooking a brook. Very peaceful with comfortable beds, we’ve had the best sleep in along time. We also appreciated good conversation with Louise and Peter. Highly recommended!

    Irmina2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I had a very relaxing stay with Louise and Peter. We loved their house and it’s beautiful location. They were both very helpful but unobtrusive and had a great standard of hosting. Their thoughtfulness for the items that were left for us, was much appreciated. We would highly recommend a stay with them and would be more than happy to return for another stay ourselves.

  • What an amazing home - we could only stay for one night, but would loved to have stayed longer, it was incredible! The location is unbelievable, surreal and breathtaking! Thank you so much for hosting and sharing your travel stories with us - you have both lived extraordinary lives and it was a pleasure to meet both of you. The room had everything we could have hoped for and more! Thanks for including all of your worldly artefacts in the room and around your home, it has prompted us to want to travel more! Mister and Lucas were a welcome surprise, so friendly and loving. Thanks again Louise and Peter, we look forward to seeing your book in Waterstone's. Enjoy your New Zealand adventure, hopefully will be able to revisit in the future upon your return.

  • A very interesting place to stay , clean , very comfortable , welcoming.

    Caroline2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Our accommodation was very comfortable indeed. Our bedroom had a separate sitting area looking over woods, sheep and a stream. Although the weather was not good enough for us to sit outside, the balcony looked like a peaceful place to while away the time. Louise and Peter are exceptional hosts, with oodles of energy and interesting stories to tell. We couldnot fault anything!

Our cottage is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Hampshire/Dorset/Wiltshire borders and is close to the New Forest with all its activities. You’ll love the cottage because of its peaceful setting in beautiful countryside, with many wonderful walks. We are on the edge of a village, surrounded by fields. We are also close to Salisbury with its wonderful cathedral and ancient buildings. The cottage is good for couples, solo adventurers and dogs.
The cottage is a charming space converted from an old hay-store, across the gravel drive from our family home. It features a comfortable sitting room with sofa, dining table and chairs, TV, Apple TV, Bose sound-dock, and wood-burning stove (and plenty of logs for you to use). A door leads to the well-equipped kitchen, with hob, oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, Nespresso coffee machine etc. The stairs (steep) from the sitting room lead up into the double bedroom under the roof eaves (watch your head!), and a door from the bedroom leads to the bathroom with bath-tub.
We live in a really beautiful part of the countryside on the edge of a village. There's a village shop which sells all the basic groceries which is open for a couple of hours in the morning and an hour in the evening. The next three nearest villages all have good pubs. There are many wonderful walks straight from the cottage, including up to Martin Down, a beautiful chalkland nature reserve.
  • Lovely location and a cosy feel.

  • I absolutely loved my time. The place was absolutely stunning, the view was amazing even on a rainy day and Gillian was wonderful. Cannot wait to stay again. Highly recommend

  • After a trip to Ireland was cancelled because of bad weather we had a quick search to see if we could find somewhere at the last minute to spend our free weekend. We had the best weekend. The property has incredible views with everything you need. We went with our 11 week old baby and Gillian had left us a changing mat and the whole place was toasty and warm due to the under floor heating. We went to Salisbury on the Saturday and then to the Compasses pub for dinner in the evening. Such a lovely stay and we will be back again for sure.

  • A wonderful space which we used for both relaxing and for working. The views are incredible. Definitely recommended.

  • An amazing, modern and comfortable place to stay. Lots of space for four adults and easy parking. Would be great to explore more on foot from the property but we had storm Dennis during our stay so enjoyed some cosy nights in with wine and good films. Enjoyed visiting Salisbury, not too far to drive.

  • Please do not hesitate in booking into The Calf Shed for a relaxed getaway. I have recently lost use of my legs so all the space for wheelchair access was a dream. There were so many personal touches, so many thoughtful bits of tech from underfloor heating to all the Sky channels to sliding doors and remote blinds... although you won’t want to block out the stunning view. Thank you for being a wonderful host Gillie. We will be back. P&J

  • Absolutely lovely couple of days staying at Gillian’s lovely converted barn. Lovely views, even on a drizzly morning, house is very well furnished throughout with heated floors. We are very much looking forward to visiting again. Many thanks!

  • This barn conversion is a super place to stay. Perfect view, lovely garden area, great styling. Good places to eat in the vicinity but also a well equipped kitchen for cooking yourself. Very comfortable home away from home. The only thing we didn’t like was that the A30 was so close by. That made walking from the barn difficult since you always ended up walking alongside it for a bit. But apart from that, we had a wonderful stay

  • Upstairs at the barn was very spacious for a couple plus baby, stylish, and comfortable. Sarah was a considerate host, giving us flexibility in arrival and departure times, leaving some refreshments to get us started, and lending us some toys. She gave us lots of information about the area and the property. We particularly appreciated that the accomodation stands alone, which meant we didn't have to worry about our 10-month-old being noisy at all hours.

  • An exceptionally nice place to stay. Lovely area with great walks, and a great space to stay in, with good amenities and views. Sarah is a great host, and has put a lot of thought into making it just right. One day we walked to Swallowcliffe and had a nice lunch at the Royal Oak. And one evening we walked down to the Horseshoe (sweet little village local). Perfect place for a getaway for a long weekend.

A little apartment/annex within a house with a river garden where you can fish in a small village 5 miles from Salisbury. The annex is new and has a double bedroom, great shower room and a fully fitted kitchen. All self contained and separate entrance. See pictures.
We live in a small peaceful village. Our house is immaculate. We both retired and love having people around.
Burcombe is a small village near Wilton. We used to a great pub in he village but sadly it closed its doors for now. Hopefully, a new operator would be found soon. As an alternative, I have organised a 30% discount off evening food bill for all my guests at the Pembroke Arms Hotel in Wilton. Its a really good place to eat and the owners are our friends.
  • We stayed at Down stream in Burcome Wiltshire over Christmas. It was just lovely. Linda was a wonderful host. Everything was catered for . All the little touches for Christmas. We will always come back.

Nothing is too much trouble for her. The house itself is lovely and luxurious, has all things you could possibly need on vacation. A special mention to Charlie who is the sweetest and friendliest dog ever!

  • Linda is a wonderful host. I would highly recommend anyone to stay in her beautiful home. I shall certainly stay again. Thanks Linda

  • Hands down a great experience and lovely host. Beautiful backyard, small well equipped apartment, and great host. Linda is out of this world nice and made sure we had everything we needed.

    Brittany2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time in this apartment. Everything was beautiful, comfortable and of good quality (the bed is very nice!). The apartment really has everything you could think of (for example: you could stay here for two weeks and drink your coffee out of a different cup every single day. Another example: there's a complete picnic basket!) Even on the last day of our stay, we found new, useful things in the kitchen and the closet! Linda is a very lovely and kind host, she gave us the feeling we were very welcome. We really enjoyed the beautiful garden of the house: having breakfast next to a tiny river, while being surrounded by ducks and swans, is a good thing :) Thanks Linda (and John, of course) for a perfect stay!

    Christien2019-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Ok it’s time to wax lyrical. A previous guest said they would give 6 stars if possible. So we concur because Linda went over and above Firstly the place is spacious, probably 45 to 50 square metres and the photos don’t do that justice. There’s room to sit on the couch or in the French style single chair. The queen bed is the most comfortable of all the mattresses we’ve slept on , even better than ours at home. There’s plenty of drawer, wardrobe space and there are even skirt hangers. The bathroom has a large shower, big towels and supplies of all sorts plus a first aid kit. The kitchen was a good working space with a bar size fridge with small box freezer built in. Supplied with milk butter jam and yogurt. Who else provides you with a pencil case note paper, a coffee scoop if you bring your own filter coffee, and room for a table and chairs to have breakfast. Linda provided us with a starter loaf of bread and 4 croissants plus a lemon drizzle cake that lasted the week... almost, lovely with double cream. During the week she offered to put towels on the line so they could air and dry off if needed. And she changed towels during the week, who does that? We were in France for 9 nights and only saw the owners once at the start. Linda is always nearby and also contactable on her mobile. Being older she’s not one for email or sms or WhatsApp so ring her. Friendly and warm, happy to give tips on where to eat and visit. her little dog Charlie is also friendly and husband John gets about quietly doing the garden. So we recommend this highly if you want a semi rural setting, a 5 min drive to the park and ride for Salisbury and enjoy local pubs for a week or more.

The surrounding area is well known for its variety of walks - I would recommend checking out Discover Nadder organisation, Walking in wiltshire organisation, ccwwdaonb organisation and Ordnance Survey for the best walks. Lower Chicksgrove is a very friendly neighbourhood with a strong, local community. The Compasses Inn is a beautiful country pub built in the 14th Century, its thrives on its award winning food, ale and wine list. The pub retains many of its original features; an old flagstone floor, open inglenook fireplace and gorgeous wooden beams. Walking into our local is like stepping back in time. We highly recommend you visit The Compasses for a drink, a light or long lunch or supper - no need to drive as its spitting distance from your bedroom! We also have the lovely small town of Tisbury, just 8 minutes drive away, which will provide you with an array of distractions. Old Wardour Castle (a romantic hexagonal tower ruin sited beside a lake), The Beckford Bottle Shop (a specialist shop of wine - buy and taste wine under one roof), Pythouse Kitchen Garden (restaurant specialising in homegrown seasonal menus, positioned in a 18th Century walled garden with a bar, The Beckford Arms pub (an award winning gastro pub), Beatons Tearooms (serves the best carrot cake in Wiltshire), Studio Zest (pilates studio), Messums Art Gallery (showcases modern and contemporary art with design and performance), Tisbury train station (a main train line to Waterloo or Exeter), Tisbury Cookery Studio (a new and exciting cookery school) to name but a few!
If you are wanting breakfast in the morning I can recommend The Compasses home cooked and utterly delicious breakfast served from 9am-10am. The cost is £15.00 per person for a hearty two course breakfast with unlimited coffee and tea and freshly squeezed orange juice. Please ask me to book it for you prior to your stay. (I’m very happy to send you a menu as-well).
  • Jess’s place was the perfect find, a stone’s throw away from the compasses inn. The bed is huge and very comfortable. There’s a 2-3 hour walk right from the door and the pub next door which serves amazing food - we are there for dinner and breakfast. We also took Jess’ advice and visited the antiques markets as well as wardour castle - would highly recommend.

  • Just returned from a lovely relaxing valentines break. The annexe was perfect with lovely touches and so clean and tidy. The bed was huge and comfy with touch notch linens and fluffy white towels in the bathroom. Bath was amazing. Perfect after our pub lunch in the Compass(right next door), then dog walk and back to the annexe to chill in front of the retro B & O telly ;-) Compass Inn is a must. They cutest, cosiest pub with such friendly staff. We will be back!

  • The annex is lovely, the bed is so comfortable and the beautiful big bath! And the compasses inn was the perfect place for dinner on a winters night.

    Lisa2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely loft above an annex. The room is completely detached from the main house so you have full privacy. A very comfortable bed and a really large bathtub made our stay comfortable and relaxing!

  • My wife and I had a lovely relaxing time in Susan's place. She is a very friendly host, and her house is located in a beautiful village. The room was very clean, nicely decorated and fully equipped with all required facilities. We enjoyed a good walk in the nearby forest, then we had a romantic dinner in a stylish restaurant nearby. We then had a rejuvenating sleep time while listening to the most beautiful music of the nature played by so many birds living on the nearby trees! We were wishing that it doesn't come to an end but it did! Next day we went on to visit Corfe Castle and Swanage, travelling with real life steam trains! Great experience, very good value for money, highly recommended for couples!

  • This is a lovely location being quiet and peaceful and not too far from Wilton with great facilities including an excellent pub. The bedroom was so comfortable and stylishly decorated and the bathroom lovely and spacious. Tea, coffee, milk, biscuits and cereals were provided and very welcome. Susan’s local knowledge was so useful and she was very welcoming and flexible with check-in time.

  • Excellent host and house. Made me feel very welcome upon arrival and ensured I had everything required for my stay. I would highly recommend staying here.

  • Susan is an amazingly kind and generous host. She made our stay there perfect and we would definitely go back if we were in the area. Everything is clean, with taste and the house has a lot of celtic touches. We had more than we needed or expected and we warmly recommend it to anyone who wants to have an authentic experience.

  • Had a wonderful stay with Susan, easy to find, a warm welcome and everything you need. The bed was wonderful and the house felt so calm and relaxed, haven't slept that well in weeks! Highly recommend, thank you Susan

Gloriously rural, self contained retreat. Ideally situated 10 minutes from Salisbury, surrounded by beautiful countryside. Stunning hikes, mountain and road biking routes from the doorstep with easy access to the Chalke Valley, New Forest and Stonehenge.
The Bothy is full of charm and character. It was originally built to house a donkey who trod a giant wheel to pump water up from the well. The entrance leads to an open plan living space with underfloor heating, a kitchen unit including a sink, oven and fridge. There is a kitchen table with window seat and chairs. And pool table! A wooden staircase leads to the mezzanine sitting area with a sofa bed and arm chair, separate bedroom and bathroom. The bed can be made up as a double or two singles.
Perfect for people looking to enjoy the countryside, historic town or prehistoric monument from a beautiful and accessible location.
  • We had an excellent stay at The Bothy. It was clean, cosy, and comfortable. Everything is to the highest standard, from the bedding and pool table to the many kitchen supplies. There is no shortage of books and games and the house feels surprisingly spacious. Amanda and her husband were helpful and easy to reach, offering tips on local walks and even quickly loaning some much-needed paracetamol. The view from the window seats is really stunning and the donkeys at the end of the lawn were extremely friendly. Would certainly come back!

    Angelique2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely space with nice kitchen facilities and very comfy beds. The pool table was a fun feature and we loved playing pool in the evenings. The sloping ceilings upstairs were absolutely fine for us but may not suit particularly tall men.

    Polly2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • This house was not just a place to stay and keep our stuff; it was a real experience. We really wanted to experience the English country side and we definitely did. Location is amazing. Very close to Salisbury by car or Uber. But far away to get away from the noise and experience the quietness and fresh air. The house has everything one might need and then some even though we were out of the house for most of the time. The communication with Amanda was very easy and quick. She gave us a tour around the house and answered all of our questions. We would definitely definitely come back.

    Alla2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Bothy is a beautifully appointed self contained space with a stunning view over the idyllic countryside. Amanda and her family made us feel very welcome and provided the perfect balance of being on hand for any questions we had while leaving us to enjoy our break in privacy. It was the perfect location for us to explore this beautiful part of the country and we would definitely stay again.

    Amy2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Bothy made for a wonderful weekend escape for my Mum and I. Full of character and in a beautiful setting with amazing views, we were made to feel very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

    Victoria2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Amanda was a great host and answered all our questions as soon as possible. The place was just as the pictures are and easily accessible to all local towns.

    Emily2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is probably the best Airbnb stay I’ve had and I’ve stayed at quite a lot of places. The Bothy is so comfortable, stylish and calm. The pool table is excellent, as is the fully equipped kitchen. The bed is so comfortable with luxurious pillows and duvet! We came with our 7 month old and Amanda had set up stair gates, travel cot and a high chair which was ideal. There is a comfortable seating space in the upstairs mezzanine too. I assume another couple could’ve stayed in there. The outdoor space is very nice too and there are lots of country walks nearby. It was an amazing stay and we’ll definitely be back.

    Claire2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our short stay at The Bothy; it had everything we needed, was very well equipped, and we adored the pool table! Amanda was very helpful and her directions to the property were spot on, so we had no trouble finding it at all, even though there were no signposts. We would not hesitate to stay again, loved everything about our stay. Thank you Amanda! :) x

Barford St.Martin is a small, picturesque village in South Wiltshire located 2 miles from Wilton, the ancient capital of Wessex and some 13 miles from Shaftesbury. It is located on the junction of the A30 and the B3089. It is within the Cranborne Chase and West Wiltshire Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The river Nadder runs through the village and Barford is known as one of the Nadder valley villages. Its history can be traced back to the 11th Century and there was reference to Barford in the Domesday Book compiled in 1085/1086. The Cranborne Chase is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and offers a wealth of villages and local heritage sites to explore (Old Wardour Castle, Wilton House, Fovant Badges, Chiselbury Iron Age fort) and a great range of local and gastro pubs to sample. The medieval Cathedral in Salisbury, with England’s tallest spire at over 400ft high, is less than 20 minutes away. The Stonehenge World Heritage site with its new visitor centre is 15 miles away. Other local attractions include Shaftesbury’s famous Gold Hill, Longleat Safari Park, Messums Wiltshire, the New Forest, Paultons Park, Beaulieu Motor Museum and Stourhead House & Gardens. The City of Bath with its famous roman baths and the beautiful beaches of the Jurassic coast of Dorset are about an hour’s drive.
  • Lovely house in very quiet surroundings and within walking distance of local pub. Cosy bedding and towels, plus a well stocked kitchen meant a very comfortable stay. Victoria was a fantastic host with speedy comms and went out of her way to be helpful with the set up.

  • Beautiful house, spacious and homely. Victoria was great at making sure everything was ready for us on arrival. We had a lovely weekend, the location was ideal for countryside walks and lots of places to visit nearby.

  • A lovely welcome awaited us at Glebe House, the property is very attractive and just as pictured/ described. For a party of 7 of us (young and old) it was the ideal setting, very spacious and great for socialising, as well as comfortable and luxurious rooms. Victoria was very quick to reply to all my queries beforehand, and she also went out of her way to ensure we could have the hot tub as listed, even though the technician was going away on holiday. The location was great, nice and rural, and within a short distance of a quaint little town. Plus it's in a good place to explore Salisbury and the New Forest. The house is equipped with everything you need for your stay, and there was even a bottle of complementary wine. We paid for the hot tub for the duration of our stay, and while we read other reviews that it could have been hotter, we would like to confirm that it was plenty hot enough and lasted all evening! The only comment was that it had fairy lights round it which unfortunately didn't work, so perhaps it would be good to check batteries and provide spares for future guests. All in all though a delightful place and thanks Victoria for a great stay :)

    Debs2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay and the house is stunning, really well organised, clean and spacious, exactly what a group of 4 couples needed for a week's stay. The rooms are all a good size, however the small double is a 3/4 bed and we found it a little bit too small for a couple for a week, but I'm sure that wouldn't be the case for everyone. We found that the location, just 15 minutes from Salisbury and with a village pub and woodland walks on the doorstep, was absolutely perfect.

    Emma2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend a stay at this beautifully renovated house - plenty big enough for 4 adults, 4 tweenagers and a dog to still feel we all had lots of space. Victoria was exceptionally easy to communicate with and we appreciated the welcome bottle of wine left when we arrived. The local area is very pretty - plenty of muddy walks for the dog. Can walk into Wilton via the back fields in about 1.5 hours. Loved 'Coffee Darling' in Wilton which is dog friendly and even serves wine and beer! Also recommend the Barford Inn, literally a stone's through from the house, as somewhere which serves hearty grub and makes visitors feel very welcome and looked after. Overall, our stay was the perfect antidote to a busy Christmas. Thanks so much.

  • Glebe House is a spacious, immaculately clean, well stocked, and welcoming home away from home and Victoria and Josh were absolutely brilliant hosts.

An 18th Century Mill House set in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside. If you want a few days away from the hustle, or need a hub to visit Stone Henge or the New Forest come and share our home from home. The River Ebble runs all around the extensive garden, and the local walks and wild life are stunning. We have two rooms on airbnb so can also accommodate a group of five. This is a lovely room with a double bed with an extra single bed so can sleep three. Full English breakfast is included.
We hope you will find us as a "home from home", where you can relax and not be too formal or confined. Come to the kitchen anytime for coffee or tea, and there will usually be cookies or cake in the tin. Don't expect a Boutique hotel, do expect a warm welcome and plenty of comfortable country hospitality.
Wonderful country walks in every direction. Bishopstone Chruch is in the top 1000 English Churches (Simon Jenkins).
  • Jax and Chris are the most wonderful hosts - so friendly and welcoming. They were very fast and clear with communication before the stay - even when we had to make some last minute changes to our booking they responded quickly and were very accommodating. All instructions were very clear and we were able to let ourselves in to their beautiful home. The beds were comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. They are experienced AirBnB hosts and could not have been kinder or more helpful. Jax also cooked us a wonderful breakfast with fresh local ingredients every morning. We cannot recommend a stay with them highly enough!

Incredibly welcoming and friendly, great with the children- almost like another set of grandparents with great garden fun for everybody. The beds were very cozy and we are leaving relaxed and recharged. I can’t say enough good things and would give an extra star if I could. We’ll be back!!

  • It's a lovely space, great kitchen facilities and shower room. We really enjoyed the outdoor fire. Little touches like tea, coffee, milk and cereal were greatly appreciated. Susan can recommend great places to eat too.

  • Beautiful yurt, pictures really do not do this place justice. Decor and space super stylish and comfortable. Cabin has great facilities, bathroom luxurious and clean. Sleeping accommodation in cabin with log burner, table and chairs, cooking stove and sink. Susan was a super host and kept in touch with any questions we had and gave great directions! Would definitely stay again 😊

  • Found this little gem while looking last minute for somewhere to stay with the children & dog, located in the idyllic village Burcombe, the yurt is beautifully furnished and has the added benefit of a wooden cabin that has a shower, toilet and kitchen area with cereal, tea/coffee and milk supplied. Outside the garden overlooks the stunning countryside and has a bbq and burner. Unfortunately the village pub is closed at the moment but it is only a 10 min drive to Wilton where there are numerous pubs and places to eat. Our host Susan was really lovely and made us feel very welcome and relaxed. Can’t wait to stay again.

  • A great place for a stopover. We had everything we needed for a night and the surroundings offered peace and stillness with a few sheep thrown in! Susan was a lovely hostess and ensured everything was as it should be!

This is a lovely twin room that can also be set up as a double. Full English breakfast is included.
Wonderful country walks in every direction. Bishopstone Chruch is in the top 1000 English Churches (Simon Jenkins).
  • Jax and Chris were outstanding hosts. I was traveling alone with my miniature schnauzer. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Great location in the countryside, beautiful garden and nearby walks to explore, comfortable bed, hot powerful shower, super clean and delicious breakfast. Jax and Chris went out of their way to make our stay special. We felt very much at home. We will be back. Thank you Jax and Chris

  • What a super AirBnB! Jax and Chris are wonderful hosts and their cottage is lovely. You can even swim in the river at the bottom of the garden but the weather was not good enough to tempt us! For anyone wanting a holiday in an idyllic rural spot yet not far from Salisbury and Stonehenge, Jax and Chris's home should be top of your accommodation choices!

  • We had a great relaxing stay in Swallowcliffe, charming little village, not far from Stonehenge. We were in mood for quiet, relaxing night and Sarah's place offered us everything we needed. Warm welcome, privacy, a veeeery comfortable bed and spotless room and bathroom, very good breakfast! The Royal Oak, just opposite Sarah's house, is a beautiful place for a meal and hang out. 5/5!

    Ewa2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah’s place is amazing and much better than I expected. The village is adorable and very quiet but has a beautiful pub near by with nice people and great drinks. The room and bathroom are clean and tidy. Fast wifi and comfortable bed. Sarah greeted us with cake and tea and the breakfast the next morning was really good. I have nothing to complain and would definitely recommend her place.
