A small gem of a property Rock cottage is a two hundred year old cottage on the edge of Arlington court, a huge, beautiful National Trust estate. The setting is peaceful, the hamlet has no street lamps and a river flows opposite the property.
This 4-bedroom cottage has two bathrooms and functions perfectly for two friendly families or groups. Each side of the cottage has two bedrooms and bathroom accessed at either end of the property so there is a feeling of a separate sleeping/living space, although it is one house. The cottage has quirky, shabby chic décor making it a peaceful, relaxing space in which to unwind. The terraces are built by using traditional dry stone, which gives it an ancient magical feel. No smoking household. Dogs, cats and children are welcome. • Fabulous cottage, especially for two families. It has everything you could want. Fabulous location for everything this part of Devon has to offer. Lovely garden. Great pub 10 minutes walk away. (Doesn’t look too much from the outside, but very cosy inside and the food is the best!)

  • Great location and spacious house. Good value for money and lovely beaches and countryside all around.

  • This cottage and its garden was a real find! Perfect for a family of five, grandparents and a dog. Kids and dog thoroughly enjoyed safely exploring the fully enclosed garden. We had got it into our minds that garden was across road from cottage but actually to the side so very safe for kids and dog. Very spacious inside with everything you needed. Perfect base for exploring area - everything we wanted to see was 30 minutes away. We absolutely loved Woolacombe and blessed with good weather too. This cottage is a must!!!

    Barnstaple, England, United Kingdom

A rural, cosy, detached barn conversion 20 minutes from Barnstaple, next to our 16th century home and gardens. The barn benefits from it's own central heating, double/ twin bedroom and bathroom, living room, private patio area and use of the grounds. 1-2 well behaved dogs also welcome.
Rosehill Barn - is set in the grounds of a medieval hall house surrounded by lovely gardens and an orchard and has a timeless, peaceful atmosphere; there is very little to disturb you other than birdsong and the mooing of cows in the surrounding fields. The open plan living room has oak flooring and is furnished with a comfortable sofa and chair, TV and DVD player, a pretty dining table and some simple kitchen equipment with microwave, table top hob, small fridge, toaster and kettle. The double bedroom has a large built in wardrobe, and the door opens out into the garden which contains many roses which give the barn its’ name. The bathroom has a Jacuzzi bath with shower over, towels and a limited selection of toiletries will be provided upon arrival. The barn benefits from its’ own central heating and hot water system. We encourage guests to recycle, compost and use energy wisely. Guests will notice we have a solar array in the orchard which contributes to our electricity demands.
A unique rural property on the edge of a small North Devon village with easy access to the market town of Barnstaple and the beautiful North Devon countryside and coast.
  • Lovely host. Left us to our own initiative which we like! Lovely and quiet area. Barn was lovely and warm. The Bath was probably the best part 😀

  • We had a wonderful stay at the barn . Jane was a great host and nothing was too much trouble. The kitchenette and jacuzzi bath were added bonuses . Thank you .

  • This place is very special, cosy and made with a lot of love. Jane was a super superhost, very friendly, welcoming and down to earth. Rose Barn is perfect for a country get away,we are from the city and was so great to be somewhere so peaceful with lush green countryside. The weather was wild which made it even better with the rain pattering on the skylight windows at night, we felt very snug in the comfy bed. Jacuzzi was a real treat as were the pukka teas, yummy biscuits and all the lovely little touches including maps, a handmade guide book and even a bent fork sculpted into a card holder- we loved that :) we would fully recommend staying at Rose Barn if you are looking for some R&R in beautiful surroundings. Thank you

  • Highly recommend Rosehill Barn for a peaceful getaway in beautiful surroundings. The barn was very comfortable with everything needed thoughtfully provided. Our dog Milo, had the best time exploring the wonderful garden and orchard - this was beautiful in February, so must be a picture later in the year ! Well positioned to explore the local area, with lots of excellent dog walks, places to visit, farm shops and places to eat out. A perfect getaway with excellent hosts - thank you !

  • I stayed at the Cider Lodge from the end of January for approximately 2 weeks and I couldn't have been happier. James make you feel welcome as soon as you arrive and aim to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Fantastically clean and accommodating and very pet friendly. Beautiful and convenient location and only a short drive away from absolutely stunning locations. Would absolutely recommend you stay here, thank you Joel.

    Joel2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a great couple of days at the Cider Lodge. It had everything we needed and James was really helpful. The accommodation was stylish and comfortable, the garden/grounds beautiful. Perfectly placed for getting to the coast. Only wish we could have stayed longer!

  • This little place was perfect for a quiet few days away to reminisce on lovely Devon with my pup. The location was great. Very easy to get to, Quiet, not too rural and not too far away from the nearest city, Barnstaple. The place was super sweet with everything you needed and simple to use appliances. Underfloor heating which warmed up the house quickly, great powerful shower (easy to use!) And a very comfy bed. The big enclosed garden was so pretty to wake up to with all the colours of Autumn and I'm sure George (my pup) loved it just as much! .. Highly recommend this place and James the host was so friendly. Such a lovely stay. Thank you!

  • We booked this for our parents as an escape with their dog Cleo. They all had a fantastic time and said what an amazing place it was to stay. Highly recommended

    David2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Cider Lodge was a lovely place to stay while in North Devon. It was possible to drive to most places of interest in North Devon in about 40 minutes or less and even places North Cornwall could be reached in 1-2 hours. A 10 minute drive to Barnstaple, with it's late night supermarkets was also very convenient. The lodge itself is very well kitted out, clean and modern. The lounge/diner was bigger than we expected as was the bedroom. The cooking facilities and the walk in shower were good too. All utensils and cookware were provided. James, was a fantastic and warm host, where nothing was too much trouble. Little touches such as some milk when we arrived, an email with his suggestions for places to visit (all very good), information on local shops, offering to make restaurant reservations for us really made it a pleasant and stress free stay. This was my first Airbnb rental and I think we struck gold here! Can't recommend Cider Lodge or the host enough.

A lovely detached hideaway, dating from the 16th century, situated near the pretty churchyard at High Bray, a hamlet that lies above the picturesque village of Brayford in North Devon Set in a beautiful rural community close to the western edge of Exmoor, Old Church House is surrounded by  magnificent countryside. Ideally located for easy access to Exmoor's spectacular moorland and coastline and within easy driving distance of the sandy beaches of  Saunton, Croyde and Woolacombe.
Overflowing with original character features including oak beams, stone fireplaces and multi pane windows throughout, Old Church House is a comfortable, traditionally furnished period house. As with many houses of this era there are some uneven floors, low ceilings and beams in parts (the lowest beam is 1.78mx/5ft 10" and the lowest ceiling at 1.96m/6ft 5" – both in the kitchen). The front door leads into the central hallway with a bench seat/shoe rack perfect for muddy shoes, useful downstairs toilet and cloakroom space. Off the hallway is a spacious living room with an attractive beamed fireplace housing a wood burning stove, comfy seating to take advantage of the many books provided and views out onto the front garden or to the churchyard at the rear. The well-equipped dual aspect kitchen features a large kitchen table, oak units, large butler sink, electric cooker and hob and wood burning stove. The kitchen door leads onto to the garden and can also be used for external access. Upstairs the galleried landing and the higher ceilings give a spacious feel. The three bedrooms are traditionally furnished in a mix of styles and are served by a family bathroom. Outside and to the front is a cottage style garden, while a small terraced area to the side is ideal for a relaxing drink. To the rear a small area furnished with a bench seat catches the afternoon sun and overlooks the churchyard. Perfect for walkers and families alike Old Church House offers a relaxing and comfortable base from which to explore this beautiful area.
Old Church House sits beside the pretty churchyard in High Bray, a tiny village high above Brayford, close to the western edge of Exmoor National Park.

  • This is an extremely well-equipped and comfortable cottage. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need during your stay. We found the cottage to be spotlessly clean. There is a selection of maps and information about the area.

  • A beautifully decorated cottage with lovely touches including tea, coffee, shampoos/shower gels etc. The garden and house had attention to detail and we're kept to a high standard. Cosy log burner was a nice touch as well as plenty of kitchen utensils. Would recommend highly. Fast replies and easy check in. Thank you for the great stay x

  • Yew Tree Cottage is really lovely and comfortable and has a very efficient log burner. It was very clean. The garden is enclosed (although our springy springer managed to get out despite the high fencing!) and really pretty with some lovely old knick knacks around and about. Loved the ‘graffiti’ on the old garage door and the vintage Gilera motorcycle. The village is very friendly and has some great walks. We spent lovely days at Saunton Sands and Woolacombe with the dogs. We also enjoyed walks on Exmoor (Rockford to Watersmeet and Hunters Inn to Heddon’s Mouth). The dogs had a lovely swim in the harbour at Ilfracombe. We had a lovely, relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable time despite the weather. Recommend Rock Inn at Georgham, Rockford Inn at Rockford and Hunters Inn at Hunters Valley. Also had some fairly decent Fish and Chips from the van in the village on Friday evening. Caroline was a great host with helpful tips on where to go. Neighbours were friendly. All in all, highly recommend Yew Tree Cottage!

    Lucy2019-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning cottage on the boarder of Exmoor, everything you need at hand. Immaculately clean, great value for money, I would highly recommend

    Ben2019-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Yew Tree cottage is a lovely clean, well presented place to stay. All you need for a retreat away from it all in a quiet village. There's a well stocked village shop for self catering but no local eating places at this time, so need to travel out of the village to find a pub.

    Colin2019-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Caroline’s Cottage for 7 days over the sunny Easter weekend. The cottage was extremely comfortable, beautifully decorated and very well equipped. Caroline’s communication was spot on and her little personal touches made it feel very special, like a home away from home. I would definitely recommend Caroline as a host and the cottage to any one visiting Devon. I have already recommended it to friends and family and know we would love to stay again soon.

  • This was a nice cosy apartment for a couple of nights. Mike was very friendly when we met him and the breakfast was good, I enjoyed some bacon and eggs with cereals available for my partner. The kitchen was well equipped although it's worth being aware the stove is just a hob (there's no oven/grill). It's well located for getting up to the North Coast and also down to Barnstaple. Thanks.

  • When we read previous reviews and looked at photos, we thought no way it can be so good. We were so wrong!! The hosts are such a lovely couple, very quick in response, helpful with tips about the area and where to surf, and all those very thoughtful surprises... Everything you need is there. Place is far away from traffic, you can have a great rest, and cottage itself is much better in reality than on photos provided. Perfect place, super positive people, amazing value for money! Everything you need for a break in North Devon, conveniently located for Barnstaple, South Molton, and the coast. Nice garden and views, that would be very pleasant in the summer. • Zenas place is by far the best Air b&b we have ever stayed at!!!!! We picked this initially because going by the photos we wanted value for money but when we got there the experience far exceeded that....... The pictures dont do Zenas place justice as you would need a whole catalogue for the photos. Its set in amazing grounds, with spectacular views. Its so relaxing and zena is so friendly. Her Dogs were just beautiful and kept us feeling safe at night knowing they were protecting us. I wanted to bring all three of them home. If you want hospitality that is second to none, peace and quiet, an extremely well kept property with all amenities then i cannot stress enough that you should pick this property to stay in to experience North devon and surrounding areas. Zena will make the top air b&b hosts list in no time at all Thak you Zena, it was an AMAZING STAY!!!! Kindest regards, Al and Joanne

West Hurscott Cottage has been a holiday let for the last 5 years. We have many return visitors who love the spacious accommodation, country views and proximity to the beaches and moors. With a thatched roof, wood burner, delightful South Facing conservatory and enclosed garden, you can enjoy the relaxing country atmosphere at your leisure. Our wonderful small flock of animals greatly accompany our two very friendly goats (Eric & Clyde).
All the laundry and kitchen equipment you require for a home from home experience.
We are 2 miles from 2 pubs, 10 minutes gets you to the centre of Barnstaple by car, and the nearest beach is about a 20 minute drive. Exmoor just 30 minutes too.
  • Had a wonderful stay at the cottage, full of character with its thatched roof, wood fire and beams. Scones, cream and jam on a tray waiting for our arrival. Warm and cosy with the fire on. Fresh flowers in each room. Plenty of hot water. A warm welcome and attentive send-off from James. Well-recommended.

  • This place is great for touring North Devon being well located for the coast and Exmoor. If your after a proper country escape in Devon this is it in every sense. James’s home has it all including a friendly herd of sheep and goats in a paddock right by the sunroom. The traditional Devon long cottage is as you would imagine with lovely views over the valley. You won’t be disappointed.

  • Great place with even greater scenery! The house was very clean and well presented. Good location, however the local pub was closed. If you wanted to get some pub grub it’s a bit of a trek to the next nearest pub. We tried the Fox and Goose as recommended in the welcome book, which we can also highly recommend!

    Nick2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very nice stay at this cosy place. The cottage is furnished very nicely and the kitchen well equipped. We enjoyed relaxing on the sunloungers in the beautiful garden next to the small stream. Just perfect.

    René2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • A very well appointed studio with nice touches such as bread and provisions in the fridge together with jams . Location is extremely peaceful with a babbling brook running down the side of the property. Spotlessly clean. Everything you need to get away from the bustling world outside. Thoroughly recommended. Our flat coated retrievers also appreciated the book!

    Stephen2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful bedding and the comfiest sofa for relaxing on, open the doors and listen to the stream gurgling by... England’s green and pleasant land...bliss

  • Lovely space, great value for money. Valerie & Victor were v generous in providing a cream tea on arrival and toys and books for our toddler to play with

    Camilla2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • On arrival we were pleased and surprised to find out that our hosts had thought to provide some basic provisions such as a small amount of milk, tea and coffee so we could settle a little before heading to the shops. There was the more than appreciated touch of some homemade scones ready for us which we all enjoyed whilst unpacking. The hosts were very welcoming and kind with helpful hints on where to go, what to see and where to find the best fish and chips. A lovely quiet location where we could relax as a family and enjoy our holiday. Thank you to Valerie and Victor and anyone who goes here will be pleased with the welcome and hospitality.

    Clare2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Valerie’s house is very spacious and in a quiet rural area and has a lovely garden. It is in a very small village and has a pub down the road. The apartment within the house has all the basic requirements for your stay and Valerie provided some welcoming Devon cream scones. It is about 20 mins drive to Ilfracombe and a short drive down to the coastal area.

  • This is clean and well equipped accommodation in a quiet location with very friendly hosts. It is a great base for exploring this corner of hilly Devon. We had amazing cream scones and jam in the fridge on arrival. The rooms are very comfortable, the bed is great and wi fi fantastic.

  • Very clean, very comfortable bed. Lovely shower room, new white goods in kitchen. Well worth the money. Lovely little village and excellent food from local pub.

    Pam2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • We were greeted by Valerie, Victor and their young grandson Freddie when we arrived who showed us around the space, which included a delicious cream tea, thank you! The space is a generous sized 2 bedroom annex to a family home with it's own entrance. It's in a quiet tiny village within driving distance of Exmoor, Lynton and Lynmouth, Ilfracombe, Woolacombe and many other places holiday makers like to visit. It's very remote so you will need a car which suited us just fine. Valerie and Victor were so helpful with local information and, as they are around most of the time, were always available for tips which included the local church that you can see from the house. Valerie is a great host, very accommodating, very responsive and had ensured that all the essentials (hand soap, toilet roll, towels, bin bags etc) that you need for a holiday were there which is such a great touch. Thank you!

    Cassie2019-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • A warm welcome to the property and the scones and personal touches given to us were great, it was shame we were only staying a couple of nights as the setting and area was lovely. We would always recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in this area, great value for money.

The Cottage offers comfortable and spacious family self-catering accommodation for up to 4 guests one double and two singles plus a cot or 'Z' bed if needed. The location is favoured by guests who enjoy the many walks from the cottage front door in outstanding scenery. Perfect for children to play by the picnic table in the shallow river and play 'pooh' sticks from the bridge! Within a short drive there is lots for families to do, Exmoor Zoo is very close and fabulous beaches in the area. Perfect for family or two couples looking for a relaxing break.
Extremely rural, with a steep farm track leading down to the Cottage, peaceful and relaxing but please note that the cottage does have quite steep stairs. There are 2 other holidays cottages next door, the Farmhouses and the Folly. You have your own parking to the side of the Cottage and your own garden area leading to the river.
Very friendly village with a great shop.
  • We enjoyed a fab autumn break in Charlotte's cottage in Bratton Fleming. It's in a superb secluded location surrounded by woodland, with great walking and mountain biking in all directions from the doorstep. The cottage itself is clean and cosy, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Highly recommended.

  • A lovely cottage and the garden was spectacular. If you want to get away from it all then you would love it. Our daughter loved the rope swing over the stream. Well stocked with everything you could need and high quality bedding and towels etc. We had a great few days exploring the local area and beaches.

  • Great host and cottage. Perfect for family of 4.

    Roberto2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • A clean, bright and homely, warm & cosy cottage. Well laid-out with boot room entrance so you can offload wet and muddy things before snuggling down. Perfect to accommodate dogs! There are walks directly from the house (once we could prise our daughter from the rope swing) & many National Trust paths a short scenic drive away, numerous beaches, and for wetter spells we visited the Lynton Cliff Railway, Hele Corn Mill (delicious scones) and Woody Bay steam train. A perfect half term break!

    Johanna2019-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet, peaceful, remote, clean and warm cottage in beautiful surroundings. We used it as a base for walking and exploring Devon and it was great for us. The village isn't all that so you need to drive for shops etc but Barnstaple is close. Beautiful coastline fairly nearby.

  • Ellen’s Airbnb is just across the courtyard behind her house but we enjoyed complete privacy. The space is beautifully decorated and has a well set up kitchen space and washing machine. Ellen also kindly lent us a clothes horse so we could get our washing dry. The shower was excellent and delivered plenty of hot water. The bed was a little soft for my taste but that really is just a matter of personal preference. This would be a perfect place for a quiet weekend away as a couple.

    Alison2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is delightful accommodation tucked right away in the Devon countryside. The hosts have gone out of their way to plan the layout meticulously and there are lots of little touches. There is a very comfortable bed and great shower with a roomy kitchen.

    Chris2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • On our trip through south west England we came across The Vestry, a really beautifully renovated outbuilding of an old chapel, where Ellen and Nick are hosts. A warm welcome made us feel right at home and this was further enhanced after we saw The Vestry inside. With an eye for detail, very beautiful and fully furnished. A wonderful bed, comfortable clubs, a fully equipped kitchen and a beautiful bathroom. Everything had been thought of. The location is a bit off the mark, but the area is beautiful and not so touristy. A gem for people looking for peace.

LOXHORE, a village and a parish near Barnstaple, North Devon. The village stands on a hill, amid beautiful scenery, 5¼ miles from the main town of Barnstaple. • We had a great time at the Coach House! Loved the woods and field, as did our dog! The wood burner kept us snug in the storm. Melanie offered suggestions about the local area and was quick at replying to our queries. The location was remote and quiet but easy to get to the main roads.

    Jasmin2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely quiet location, tucked away off a little country lane, fire alight on our arrival, thanks to our thoughtful hosts. • What a wonderful stay we had at Nuttywood Chalet. Helen and David are great hosts, and they've really thought of everything to ensure you have a comfortable stay! It was so helpful to arrive somewhere and to want for nothing. We took advantage of the massages on offer and booked them as extras. We both had a hot stone massage, and were not left disappointed. In terms of the location, it's a lovely peaceful spot and has great access to the coast. We would happily stay there again.

    Leah2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Huge thank you to Helen for making our stay comfortable and relaxing. The Chalet is fantastic and I would have no hesitation in coming back or recommending it to friends/relatives. The weather was a disaster (unless you are one of our 2 Springer Spaniels who love the wind and rain) but it was wonderful to come back to a warm, welcoming chalet. The location is excellent for exploring the very best of North Devon.

    Phill2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic chalet! Lovely and cosy (even better than the photos). Helen was a great host and the extras included were thoughtful! Would highly recommend if you want to explore the area or are seeking a relaxing break! We would definitely visit again.

  • Nuttywood Chalet is absolutely lush! the perfect, modest size for two people and nice and cosy for a winter break. Helen was lovely and all the small touches were what made it so special. Highly recommended!

    Rosie2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • An absolute diamond of a stay. The personal touches and the overall decor of the place made us feel instantly at home but also like we were staying somewhere very special. Could not have asked for more. 5 star place, 5 star host.

    Sarah2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • So as all the other reviews have stated... the pictures do not do this place justice! Although they show how snuggly and comfortable it is, I feel it is soo much more! We spent a couple of days walking on exmoor and our last full day snuggling on the sofa during storm Ciara and it was just perfect for that. All the little touches which made it feel soo homely and (as one of the picture on the wall states) a proper love shack. Helen was a lovely host, introducing herself at the beginning and explaining certain things. Then left us to it with the knowledge she was just a text or shout away of needs be. Without a doubt we will be back!!

    Clair2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Another great stay at the chalet! So amazing with such thoughtful touches. It's like a home from home, so cosy and we love the well needed break. Look forward to visiting again:)

My place is a lovely old cottage very near the village centre which includes a shop, 7 miles from the market town of Barnstaple & a short drive from Devon's northern sandy surfing beaches of Saunton, Braunton & Croyde. The cottage is located on the edge of Exmoor National Park, it's a secluded & quiet location as well as having old characterful features such as the inglenook fireplace with working wood burning stove. Access via keysafe. Sorry no back garden. Parking is outside front of cottage.
Sitting room, dining room and separate well equipped kitchen. Upstairs includes two bedrooms (1 double, 2 bunks and 1 single) sleeping a total of five people, newly refurbished bathroom with bath and shower.
The cottage is located within Bratton Fleming village, 7 miles from Barnstaple and on the edge of Exmoor National Park.
  • Great little place to stay and not expensive! As advertised property does not offer wifi. We got around this by enabling hotspot on a phone and putting the phone against the living room window (for better signal).

    Mark2018-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Very good experience Roger was extremely helpful and even went to trouble to leave some coffee and choci biscuits for our arrival. Would be good if it had Wi-Fi as I had no phone signal at all and with Wi-Fi I could at least make calls. Kids complained they couldn't play games on their phones which could be a positive as they had to play the board games that Roger had supplied.

    Glenn2016-08-30T00:00:00Z

Our beautiful Tin Can Cottage is a 1959 Tradewind Airstream caravan that has been meticulously restored and redecorated. Outside the aluminium is sleek and minimal. Inside you will find everything you need to make your stay a special one including all self catering needs.  It is suitable for a couple or a couple with a small child.  Well behaved dogs are welcome but not permitted on furniture and guests must clean-up after their dogs and vacuum all dog hair. Check-in 4pm-8pm. No late check-ins.
The beautiful kitchen is equipped with everything you need for proper cooking; a 4-burner gas hob, Smeg fridge, oven, Smeg Toaster, Le Creuset kettle, scales, sharp knives, cafetière, stove top espresso maker, cookery books…. if you need it and it’s not there already we will lend it to you.  There are even fresh herbs growing just outside the front door. The bedroom has a double bed snugly fitted in to the curved end of the caravan. The bed is slightly longer and slightly narrower than a standard double bed (125cm x 195cm).  But as there is no chance of you falling out of the bed (see photo of bed below), you are able to enjoy the full width! Bedding is pure French linen and Hungarian Goose down. There is even a wall mounted TV for snuggling up to watch a movie. Access is only from one side of the bed so a certain amount of agility is required – not for those with restricted mobility. Wifi is provided however rural broadband speeds apply. You can browse and send and receive emails however there is not sufficient band width to enable streaming. The bathroom has a proper flushing toilet, heater and an electric power shower. Hammam towels and cotton bath robes are provided.  Finally, there is an eating and seating area which can convert in to another single bed. Suitable for an adult or child. To keep you nice and warm there is a wood burner (you can even make your toast on it!) and a heater. There is plenty of storage space and another TV and dvd player in the living area.
We have a public footpath that runs through our property and we are only a 15 minute stroll through fields and woodland (wellies recommended, we have many sizes available to borrow!) to the village of Goodleigh where you can find a lovely meal and a drink at our local pub, The New Inn at Goodleigh, where Jules and Justin will welcome you. There are many walks from the farm through surrounding fields and woodland. This is also a great place for cycling; towards Exmoor if you like it hilly, or on the Tarka trail towards Braunton or Bideford for a flat, off-road, tar-sealed ride (the longest one in the UK). We are a short drive from some of the best surfing in the UK at Croyde, Putsborough or Saunton Sands. We have lockable storage available for any equipment you bring. As keen walkers, cyclists and beach-goers we are happy to provide advice, routes and maps for our guests.
  • We stayed in the tin cottage for the weekend and it was a perfect weekend getaway! A lovely quirky space with amazing scenery. The Airsteam has everything you need and is decked out perfectly. We loved the Dutch tub which the hosts kindly got ready for us and loved sitting out there in the nights with all the fairy lights. Would definitely recommend, lots of great places for walks around too. Thanks for a lovely stay, we had a great time. 🥳

  • What a brilliant little find! My partner and I have enjoyed a romantic weekend away for valentines. We loved the hot tub and sitting by the fire watching a film and enjoying a movie. The caravan is situated in an idyllic place with great walks all around. It’s about 10 minutes from town which was great for an afternoon out. There are a few pubs close by with amazing food. Thank you again for a lush stay!

  • Great little spot, very clean and cosy with the log burner. Nice hot tub and some nice local pubs and shops within 5 minute drive. Bed was comfy with good quality bedding and nice sitting area. Friendly host upon arrival and left us to it after. Overall great stay :)

  • Peaceful location surrounded by nature. Loads of lovely pubs and restaurants really close and easy to get to, although you’d be just as happy to stay in with the log burner waiting for the hot tub to heat up.

  • Great & quirky airstream. Matt and Lisa really have the local pubs on lock with great recommendations for food and drinks which sorted us RIGHT out. Would 100% recommend to everyone and anyone. Good job guys!!

Mandala Yurt is in "The Secret Garden" at Holwell. Nestled in a sleepy hollow amid 5 acres of gorgeous North Devon countryside, nothing but bird song to remind you that the outside world exists, sits our farmstead & Lunari Yoga & Treatments Centre . Steeped in history & with stunning views, its wondrously nurturing powers seem to embrace you as soon as you arrive. With our own water supply from natural springs we encourage an ecological approach to living & our land is as organic as possible.
The 18ft Mongolian yurt is situated on our 5 acre plot of land and is in an enclosed gated private garden we call "The Secret Garden" because it's tucked away out of sight. It can accommodate 2 adults and a child plus a baby. In this area guests can enjoy exclusive use of the yurt and its fabulous wooden built outdoor kitchen which has a prep area with sink and drainer with water bottle above and a waste bottle underneath. A 6 burner gas BBQ and an amazing rustic wooden chill out den seating area with chimenea for the cooler evenings and hidden lighting which makes it so atmospheric. There is unbreakable crockery provided and utensils, cutlery etc. There is a cool box to save guests having to keep going to the laundry barn to get milk etc. and ice packs stored in the guests drawer of the freezer inside the "Laundry barn". The Mandala Yurt in its own private gated Secret Garden here at Holwell is near "The Stone Circle" which is another magic area on our land near the vegetable garden. The yurt can sleep two on double futon base with real mattress plus there is a single childs size cube floor mattress and I can provide a travel cot (no cot linen or bedding due Health & Safety). There are 2 easy chairs, a small loose leaf table, wardrobe with full length mirror, make up mirror, chest of drawers, various safe lighting options, lanterns and battery operated candles and solar led light strip around the mandala. There is a double USB point to charge phones subject to the solar panel getting enough light otherwise USB charging points can be found in the 'Laundry barn" A gas cylinder heater can be provided for inside the yurt if required, to be used with care as they need to be in a well ventillated area due to co2 emissions and turned off before sleeping.
Our home is accessed via our 1/4 mile drive over 3 cattle grids. The neighbouring fields are owned by a local farmer who grazes sheep and cattle at some times through the year.
  • Tranquil by name and tranquil by nature. A truly unique experience camping in absolute comfort under the stars. A large and very comfortable yurt in its own private garden with outdoor kitchen area, gas bbq and ample seating. Lovely, clean and modern facilities near by for showering and washing. The property is full of character and charm, we think you will feel at home as soon as you walk through the door! with spacious accommodation and beside a beautiful stream, with amazing wildlife. With 28 tranquil acres of garden, woodland and undulating pastureland. Bratton Fleming is close to the dramatic North Devon coast with sandy beaches and towering cliffs, perfect for large groups or families.
Bratton Mill Farm is very remote in the valley below Bratton Fleming Village, there are three holidays lets at the farm, The Farmhouse, The Cottage and The Folly, all with there own parking area and garden (not fenced)
  • This is a beautiful old farmhouse at the end of a secluded track in a valley. It is extremely quiet and there is a beautiful stream at the bottom of the garden. The house is exceptionally well furnished, and the kitchen has got almost everything you could ever want. There is a utility room with both washer and drier and it is a complete home from home. The bedrooms are spacious and super comfy. We visited as two families of 5 and there was plentiful space to roam around and enjoy. It is a short drive away from lots of interesting places and is a good bolt-hole for seeing parts of Devon. Lots of fun to be had at this place and we would love to come back.

    Jo2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely old house in a beautiful very secluded location next to a gorgeous babbling stream. If peace and paradise is what you after, you can’t do better than this and all within about 30 minutes drive of the fabulous north Devon coast and 10 minutes drive from Exmoor. We thoroughly recommend it.

  • Charlotte’s farmhouse was the perfect home away from home. Everything went very smoothly - it’s much bigger than we thought and the setting is beautiful. It is also very easy to drive to local towns and beaches. Will definitely return!

  • Had a great weekend in Devon with our dog. Debbie and Mark couldn't have been more welcoming and the cottage was immaculate. The pics dont do it justice! Plenty of space to walk the dog, meet the alpacas, goats and chicken's and finish the day in the hot tub. Not too far from some really nice beaches where we spent most of the day. Will definitely go back when we are next in North Devon

    Sam2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot fault this lovely space. Debbie and Mark were lovely hosts. The hot tub was great and being able to cuddle the goats and alpacas made my weekend. The location is perfect as it’s close to several beaches but is also completely tranquil due to the lack of phone signal. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back. Thanks once again :)

    Kirsty2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wow what can I say, if we could give this 10 stars we would. Fantastic location, beautiful spacious property with a great hot tub! But what really makes this special is Debbie & Mark. The little touches, cream tea, eggs (their own),bead, milk, biscuits in a hospitality basket on arrival, the time they spent with us making sure we had all we needed, all the local tips, their amazing animals...alpacas, goats chickens not to mention the well behaved dogs, our Roy was so happy with them...nothing was too much trouble. Our granddaughter Grace collected 2eggs with Debbie & as soon as we got home she had to make cakes with them. Thank you both so much for being such caring & thoughtful hosts, we had an very relaxing weekend & we highly recommend you!

    Aly2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Booked Mark and Debbie's place for my parents and they could not have had a better trip. For me, booking process was very easy and Mark & Debbie very flexible and accommodating with an awkward situation. Parents have gushed about the cottage itself as very clean, and bigger than it seems from photos. They particularly liked the amount of light in kitchen/livingroom, especially considering time of year - made it feel "rather summery" in January. They're also fans of the level of privacy they could have whilst still being made to feel very welcomed by Mark and Debbie and able to speak with them. Being able to meet the animals has been a highlight of the trip for them, and the location couldn't be better (very close to sea!). They only got back today and are already recommending their first Airbnb experience to family and friends, and would be more than happy to return.

    Charlotte2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • THANKYOU for an amazing stay again. We still want to move in, home from home, nothing to much trouble.

    Debbie2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved this air bnb. Mark and Debbie were really lovely and friendly hosts. This is a perfect destination for anyone who just wants a weekend of rest and relaxation. Would definitely love to come back again.

    Kirsty2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a peaceful, relaxing rural idyll, then look no further than Mark and Debbies 'tardis' cottage. The pictures do not convey how big the space is, there is so much light flooding into the living room, it's a perfect place to chill, relax and unwind. Plus of course just outside the patio doors lives a very large and exceptionally fabulous hot tub, just sat there waiting to be leapt into. I have mobility problems and need a rollator or walking frame to get around, this cottage has so much space it was perfect, I could even get my rollator into the wet room. With only one small in height but large in area size step to access the cottage from the parking spot by the front door and also out the patio doors into the garden it is ideal for anyone with mobility issues. The hot tub is about eight feet from the patio door, with room to put a walking frame by the two access steps at the side of the tub (also ideal for putting towels onto). The bed is humungous, a proper super king with one mattress, rather than two singles zipped together, hence it was oh so comfy. The underfloor heating in the living room, kitchens and wet room are separate from the radiator heating the bedroom, which is ideal as we were able to put things on the floor in the bedroom, whereas in the living room with underfloor heating our shopping etc would have melted, so it's the best of both worlds, again another excellent feature of this cottage. Mark and Debbie are the perfect hosts, a very hard act to follow in fact. Nothing was too much trouble and they obviously love having guests come to stay. They had very kindly left us a Devon cream tea to enjoy and lots of other goodies in a welcome basket, all very much appreciated by two hungry and weary travellers. We can thoroughly and without any hesitation recommend this lovely cottage and it's owners to anyone who wishes to partake of a relaxing and happy holiday or weekend treat away.

  • Such a wonderful place and so relaxing! Everything has been thought out and the extra touches and advice on local eating etc was perfect! Mark and Debbie go above and beyond to ensure your stay is perfect. Will definitely return.

  • Rachael is an outstanding host. Nothing was too much trouble and it would be an understatement to say she went the extra mile to ensure that our visit was happy and comfortable. Our room was very comfortable and extremely attractive and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable and warm, there is plenty of hanging and storage space. The bathroom is spacious with a superb shower. Everything we could reasonably want was provided for and there were many enjoyable 'extras' to make the stay even more enjoyable. The breakfast was superb and it is no surprise that Rachael has her own catering business. The farm house is in the middle of beautiful Exmoor countryside and very quiet with plenty of parking space. We strongly recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy Exmoor and North Devon. We would have no hesitation in coming again.

  • Thank you to those who wrote reviews as it resulted in me staying here... and what a truly amazing place! My satnav took me elsewhere but I was very close and Rachael met me in her car as it was dark when I got there so couldn’t see a thing. Rachael was an amazing host and couldn’t have done more to make my stay perfect. The house is situated in the most beautiful location and views are breathtaking!!! The bedroom and bathroom are luxurious. Bathroom has two sinks, a rolltop bath and large walk-in shower. Rachael offered me breakfast and as I wasn’t eating brought me up some homemade flapjack and fresh orange. Amazing! There was a Bosch coffee machine and the coffee was delicious. All in all, just perfect!

    Carol2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Rachael and Jeremy have done a wonderful job converting an old farmhouse into accommodation. At the moment they offer one super comfortable double bedroom and a very luxurious bathroom worthy of a five star hotel. Rachael is the most hospitable of hosts and nothing is too much trouble. She provides a very substantial breakfast in her newly converted dining room . Sandy Park Farm is tucked away down a track overlooking a beautiful valley. We had difficulty finding it but Rachel and Jeremy are just about to improve the signage so it should be easier in future. The place is is utterly peaceful and you can sit in Rachael’s newly laid out garden and soak in the view. I should mention that Rachael and Jeremy do not live on site but are close by and always on hand if you need them. If you are looking for peace and quiet and great hospitality you’ll find it at Sandy Park Farm.

    Rosemary2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Gosh! What can we say other than in all our 7 years of doing air bnb, staying at Rachael's luxurious place has been the best! We needed a 24 hour get away and to be spoilt a bit too and we found Rachael and her beautiful airbnb ticked all our boxes. Rachael is a fabulous cook and that was reflected in the tasty and full English brekkie - which kept us going all day - really! The bathroom is stunning, the bed very comfy and all the touches are lovely! Racheal is a warm, friendly and very helpful host who made our stay a wonderful experience!

    Lisa2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Spotless, comfortable accommodation in a lovely old farmhouse in a beautiful, quiet location. Wake up hungry if you're going for the full cooked breakfast! Rachael is the perfect hostess and we couldn't suggest a single improvement.

  • Beautiful house, styled to extremely high standard, felt at home as soon as we met Rachael & Jeremy. The swimming pool is clean and bright and the Sauna is, well what can you say? Hot😃 Adrian and Carol Ann are very helpful but we didn't see much of them as they are busy. We really loved being there and would recommend to anyone except that is elderly people as the location is high up on a hill.

Forget a room with a view, how about a cabin with a view, and a hot tub too! Sunset Cabin is a place to escape it all in a stunning location within 22 acres of north Devon countryside and lying near to an iron age hillfort and a lake. This self catering cabin has 3 bedrooms that comfortably sleeps up to 4 adults (in 2 double beds) and 2 children (in bunk beds). The location is perfect for a holiday in north Devon with plenty to explore, such as the wonderful beaches and Exmoor National Park.
The clue is in the name! After a long day exploring north Devon this is the perfect place to unwind, with a glass of something nice, while watching the spectacular sunset. Sunset Cabin has the most wonderful sunset views that will take you breath away. Followed by a clear night with the most beautiful starry skies, this truly is a special place. The cabin has it's own private hot tub with countryside views for guests to enjoy at their leisure. The two double bedrooms are both good sizes, one with an ensuite shower room, and there is one family bathroom. There is a smaller bedroom with bunk beds to sleep 2 children. Despite having 3 bedrooms this cabin is popular and cosy enough as a romantic getaway for a couple! Towels and linen are provided. The kitchen is fully stocked with all that you'd expect including a kettle, toaster, microwave, oven. The living room is comfortable and cosy ... especially when the log burner is lit! The private hot tub is available for guests to enjoy throughout their holiday. It is important the guests read the guidance on how to operate and safely use the hot tub in order to keep it clean and make the most of it, which we email to guests prior to their stay. Please note the hot tub may be out of action on the day of your arrival due to cleaning, but will be ready for use in the morning. The cabin is in a rural location, about a 5 minute drive from the village of Bratton Fleming. There are a number of great pubs/restaurants (many of them dog friendly) that we can recommend which are all within a 10 - 30 minute drive away. There is parking for up to 2 cars and an enclosed garden although you are welcome to explore the 22 acres of countryside at your leisure, which includes woodlands, a lake and an iron age hillfort. On a clear day you can see sea views to Hartland Point in Cornwall and if it's a clear night the stars are breath-taking! We are very dog friendly and doggies are welcome to stay. Please note that dogs must be kept off all furniture, muddy paws must be cleaned before entering the cabin, and all dog poo must be picked up from the garden and paths. There is an additional charge for more than 2 dogs. There is plenty to see and do in north Devon during your visit. Why not try your hand at surfing at the nearby beaches such as Croyde, Saunton Sands and Woolacombe, or hire a bicycle and ride the famous Tarka Trail, or go hiking in Exmoor, or walk the spectacular South West Coast Path? Other attractions to visit include Arlington Court and Castle Hill Gardens that are also very close if you like to explore National Trust properties, or for something different you could visit Quince Honey Farm in nearby South Molton. There’s plenty for kids too, such as the Exmoor Zoological Park, Milky Way Adventure Park and Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park. Please note the cabin is unfortunately not disability or wheelchair friendly.
  • Not only were we wonderfully surprised by the cabin and it's views but I don't think the pictures do it justice as to how cosy and homely the place felt! Matt and Pru went above and beyond with such a thorough guide on the area, best places to see and visit, the best places to take your dog and tonnes of personal recommendations that were spot on! Even when the weather was awful, we all cosied up with their complimentary blankets, a cup of tea and watched the sunset through the large glass doors. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your lovely home!

  • A well positioned cabin which is both clean and well resourced. Great hot tub and really helpful hosts. A great place for some really good quality family time.

    Kate2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is really breathtaking. The photos do not do it justice! The cabin is sparkling clean with everything single amenities you could possible need. Matt and Pru are very kind and very quick on response. They had a large array of board games, dvd's and books to keep us occupied. The hot tub is perfect for the cold night with great views. Our dog loved the cabin and the walks on site. Such a beautiful area that we cannot wait to come back to. Such a memorable, relaxing and romantic place.

  • We had such an amazing time at Sunset Cabin! Matt and Pru are great hosts, we can highly recommend this place for anyone!!! We'd love to be back in summer for a few days! :))

  • I knew from reviews and online research that Sunset Cabin was going to be something special, but I had no idea just how wonderful our 2 night stay would be. Beautiful, discreet cabin that sinks effortlessly into its surroundings, immaculately clean, warm, cosy, comfortable, furnished to suit your every need, log fire and hot tub to die for! We were blessed with a gorgeous sunset on our 1st night so it was clear to see how the cabin got its name! Set in acres of mossy woodland that we all loved exploring .... the remnants of previous guests 'dens' scattered around was pure delight for our children and Pru and Matt's dogs were lovely friendly company for our dog while we all explored! We had lovely evenings in sat in front of the log fire playing the board games and puzzles from the generously stocked 'fun shelves' as our children named them! Thank you Pru and Matt - we will definitely return as soon as the opportunity arises.

    Tracey2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely delightful cabin set in glorious countryside. We went with our dogs and were pleased to find an enormous garden and additional on site acreage to walk them in. The hot tub remained hot and was cleaned regularly. The cabin was fantastic and couldn’t have asked for anything more. We had a really relaxing time at the cabin and look forward to returning!

  • Everything was perfect, great location, so peaceful. Lovely comfortable, cosy little house, great views and loads of lovely thoughtful touches which made us feel so welcome. Most importantly very comfy bed and really appreciated my favourite smellies in the bathroom!

  • Kirsten and Ian were fantastic and made our stay in North Devon perfect! The location and views are incredible, the house is beautiful, tastefully decorated and sparkling clean. We were greeted with a lovely thoughtful hamper and a personalised detailed information sheet. Kirsten and Ian were incredibly kind and were always around to give assistance/answer any questions we may have had. The bed was very comfy, towells were fluffy and the shower was incredible. We were even allowed to check out late and will definitely be returning, thank you for a wonderful stay!

    Sophie2019-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is a truly glorious spot in the lovely Devon countryside, and could not be better situated with beautiful views onto rolling green fields. The barn is newly converted, and inside is so stylish with gorgeous fittings and yet still somewhere very comfortable where you feel like you can relax. It was wonderful staying inside on a rainy day after a busy week and just relaxing, and was also great to be so close to the seaside when we felt like venturing out. Kirsten and Ian were wonderful hosts, very warm and friendly. It felt like they thought of everything we could need, especially in the kitchen and living space. We cooked for ourselves for most meals and the kitchen was very well equipped. There were some especially lovely touches throughout, including a welcome hamper with a bottle of bubbly, chocolate biscuits and fresh eggs from the hens on the property. The place was very quiet and peaceful, somewhere to truly feel like you can get away from it all. We would have loved to have stayed much longer and would love to come back some time. We definitely recommend this place to anyone keen for an idyllic and tranquil escape.

Little Woodacott is a welcoming cosy self-contained cottage set in Bugford Wood, an historic, private and peaceful 10 acre mixed broadleaf forest. Amenities include: •woodburning stove •fully equipped kitchen •off road parking - a marked path leads from the car parking area through the woods to the cottage. We welcome a baby up to eight months old, please bring a carrycot/moses basket. We welcome 1 medium size well behaved dog for which there is a charge.
Location The cottage is on the other side of a wooded valley from Arlington Court, a splendid National Trust property. Barnstaple, Braunton, Ilfracome, Combe Martin and North Devon’s finest beaches, Saunton Sands, Putsborough, Croyde, Woolacombe, all within easy reach.
  • Peaceful cottage set in woodland. The wood burning stove quickly warms the cottage so we were warm and dry despite the rain and hail that persisted throughout our stay. Harley and Mary are excellent hosts providing cake and logs to sustain us.

  • Had a lovely time staying in this little cottage in a beautiful wood 🌼🌲🕸

    Diane2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Woodacott is a perfectly furnished and equipped mini house in the woods. It is close to Harley and Mary’s house but it’s not at all overlooked and gives a real sense of seclusion when you are inside and from the patio. Everything has been carefully thought out and the kitchen is incredibly well equipped. We wondered if there would be a cafeteria and when we got there, there were three! We took our dog Ella who is fearful of dogs and strangers so the location was perfect for us. I contacted Harley before our visit to explain about Ella as I was worried about the famous Bingo getting a hostile welcome if he came to say hello. Harley was extremely understanding about her and called to co ordinate walks with his dogs so that Ella didn’t have to meet them. This was great as we are always usually on dog watch when we are out and about but for once we were able to switch off and really enjoy relaxed walks in the beautiful woods. All in all we had a very peaceful holiday, Harley and Mary were wonderful hosts and Woodacott is a magical place to stay.

  • An amazing little space set in the most idyllic woodland, we (and the dogs) loved it!

    Simon2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely and quiet cottage in a beautiful setting. Small but well thought out inside- you’ll likely not lack anything save what you usually bring for a quick getaway. Some nice touches on arrival that made us feel very welcome. Located down some tight lanes from either direction, though no more than a few minutes driving. Parking at and access to property is good. Location good for access to North Eastern tip of Devon- Woolacombe to Lynton, etc all within 20-30 minutes. Would stay again when in the area.

  • Fantastic place, superb hosts.

    Nicki2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • If you want a tiny, get-away-from-it-all retreat in a private woodland with the kindest of hosts and the most wonderful aromatherapy treatments, this is a great place. We chilled and unwound and loved our stay. You need to be quite fit to get up and down to the cottage from the car parking area, but that walk was an added bonus to us and our Labrador!

    Jane2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Really special find in deepest darkest north Devon. Perfect for local dog walks in the forest. And really great fully equipped kitchen. Loved it. Will be back

  • Fantastic weekend had by our 2 families at Woodpecker Lodge. Hospitality was fab, from the homemade cookies on welcome, complimentary tea/coffee etc, and the detailed info and tips given beforehand on local sites, pubs, walks and attractions. Hot tub was brilliant, and the lodge very spacious, having so many bathrooms (one for each bedroom really) was excellent. A holiday home done exactly as I would do if I had my own, and we can't wait to return! Many thanks to Matt and Pru

  • Incredible location, fantastic house with plenty of space and beautiful touches. So peaceful and stunningly beautiful, it was a wrench to leave. Matt and Pru were great hosts and the place was set up to make our stay comfortable. Pictures don't do it justice.

  • This place is lovely, really unique and bespoke. It's a great place to stay and unwind or as a base for visiting places locally. I highly recommend the Old Station Inn which is only about a 7 minute drive away - huge portions! You wont be disappointed either with Woodpecker Lodge or with the pub. My family was met by Matt and they tell me he was really helpful. The biscuits on the table were amazing.

Set in a quiet hamlet surrounded by green fields on a quiet lane. All you will hear is birdsong and sheep. Peaceful yet a short drive to local towns, villages and the beautiful Exmoor and of course beautiful sandy beaches.
  • We had a lovely stay at the Threshing Barn, the barn is very homely and comfortable with great amenities, the kitchen was kitted out with everything you need to cook an evening meal. Clive came and gave us some great advice on where to eat and visit which was also in the handbook in the barn. Wonderful stay!

    Cassie2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was perfect - it was our best Christmas yet! The countryside was quiet, the orchard was ideal for walking our dog and it was perfectly placed for visiting a different beach every day. The entire cottage was cozy, beautifully decorated and Pauline left us some very thoughtful gifts including eggs from the girls! We can’t wait to visit again soon xxx

  • We had a fabulous time in this beautiful converted barn. Spotlessly clean, great amenities, super comfortable bed, swings in the garden and enclosed area for the dog...and in such a great location. We had 2 really good meals in the Black Venus Pub and The Pyne Arms - both a short drive away, and some of the best fish and chips ever had from Topp Chippy in Combe Martin - details for all of these are in the info provided in the house. We booked at short notice and could not have been made more welcome. Freshly baked cake and milk and eggs on arrival...it was all perfect. Thank you very much Pauline and Clive. We would really love to come back again soon.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Pauline & Clive's Threshing Barn: the place is beautifully furnished, a great & cosy space to spend some relaxing days. Communication was very easy, it was nice to meet our very friendly & welcoming hosts. The barn is conveniently located near the B39, and with approx 20 minutes drive to many stunning places. We were very fortunate with the weather (late October), and impressed by our 3-year old daughter doing far more walking than expected, so managed to do Morte pointe walk, Baggy point walk, Watersmeet walk, followed each day by several hours on either Woolacombe beach or Croyde Bay - perfect autumn break, we even braved the waves. We didn't try any of the recommended pubs, but that's simply because it was very convenient and comfy to cook back in the barn in the evenings. Would recommend it.

    Lena2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Simply wonderful! Spacious, comfortable, beautiful barn; great field with swings for kids to play. Great location.... the list is endless! And Pauline`s cake!!!!! Simply heaven.

•Single shepherd's hut on a small 14 acre working farm.• A short drive to Exmoor Zoo, Wistlandpound Reservoir and the coast. Right on the edge of Exmoor, peace, quiet, fab views up to the moor and down towards the sea. Benton View site is set just outside the Exmoor National Park , with one cosy shepherd's hut in its own area among a grassy orchard field. Sheep and chickens wander the site – the tiddlies are welcome to say hi or go and meet some of the menagerie. All welcome, wait to meet you.
The location is peaceful, remote and we have spectacular scenery. The handcrafted shepherd's hut sits in its own garden area, separated from the rest of the orchard field (and the wanderings of any friendly farm animals) by a little picket fence, with a smashing barbecue area and a picnic bench for alfresco feasts. The hut is also fully insulated and has a kitchenette with a gas burner and a sink, a table and chairs for two to dine comfortably on, as well as a cosy double bed with fresh linens provided; the hut's little log burner generates enough heat to keep the hut nice and toasty throughout the winter months and can be used on cooler summer nights too, if needed, so you're guaranteed a swell stay no matter the season (logs supplied). The huts lighting is solar panelled. Also within the hut there is bullet charging points for your phone.
We are in a small quite hamlet just outside of Bratton Fleming where there is a village shop, church and a social club. Central to a lot of attractions. For pedally adventures, the Tarka Trail cycling route runs right alongside the site; part of the Devon Coast to Coast Cycle Route, it's one of the longest traffic-free walking and cycling paths in the country, taking you past river valleys, bays, moorland and coastal cliffs. Exmoor Zoo is also an easy four miles from base and well worth spending a day at to see the likes of armadillos, alpacas, and the Exmoor Beast; the Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park is also a short drive away towards the coast, while Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton are all within 20 miles for days out by the sea. Wistlandpound Reservoir, six miles away, is a popular spot for family days filled with nature trails, birdwatching and wildlife spotting. Set among the tors and moors of Devon and Exmoor and bordered by a conifer plantation, Wistlandpound is encircled by two wheelchair-accessible paths dotted with interpretation boards and activity stations to help you learn about the local nature, and a pergola goes right up to the water’s edge for splendid views across the reservoir. For something town-based, take skater kids over to Barnstaple’s Rock Park for skateboard or play area action while you wander around the town's ancient Pannier Market and Butchers Row, picking up local foodie supplies, handmade Devonshire crafts, art and antiques (handy souvenir fodder); and if you feel like sticking around for an evening, check out what's on at Queen’s Theatre or tour the local pubs to sample local ales and maybe catch a bit of local live music while you're at it.
  • Absolutely amazing stay! We booked an overnight stay during Storm Dennis but the hut was so cosy! Mandy and Andy greeted us on arrival and introduced us to all of the animals on their farm - such a lovely touch! Nothing was too much trouble and they are very warm, down to earth people. Highly recommended! Thanks so much for a fabulous stay! Xx

    Clare2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous hideaway, beautiful decor & great hosts, including the animals! Thoughtful welcome pack left definitely would go back x

    Faye2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • What a dream this place is! From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome and felt right at home. Mandy & Andy are the most friendly people you could meet! We were shown to the shepherd hut where everything has been thought of, from the fresh flowers to the welcome treats of cream tea, Prosecco and the little Lindt Easter chocolate lambs! ❤️ From a peaceful, comfortable nights sleep to waking up opening the door and being greeted by all the sheep including sweet Summer and Mental, you almost forget that you are on holiday and will have to go home at some point. We loved getting involved with all the animals including Truly Scrumptious, Joy, Monty, Alfie, Olive, Summer, Mental (to name a few) even Ebony the goat head butting us! (Or at least trying to!) but what truly makes this place is Mandy & Andy. We will be recommending this shepherd hut to everyone and I am sure we will be back in the not so distant future! If you are thinking of booking this place, stopping thinking about it and just do it! You won’t regret it! Perfect places for both adults and children! Thank you both so much for a wonderful peaceful break! 🐑 ☀️❤️

  • We had a wonderful stay at Benton View. The hut has everything that you could need, including a comfy bed and lots of cosy blankets and cushions. In the morning, it was lovely to see the animals grazing and the birds singing and sheep. Feeding the lambs and holding the chicks was a highlight. We even had eggs from the chickens for breakfast! It is in a great base for exploring the beaches, moors and Tarka trail. Mandy and Andy are incredible hosts and made our stay extra special! We will be back soon :)

  • Really lovely room in a lovely part of Devon (but be ready to drive miles before seeing anything but sheep and fields). The included breakfast was a lovely touch, with fresh bread and orange juice every morning. The fridge did freeze most of my food but I managed to get it to cooperate within a couple of days!

  • Although I got a little lost when arriving in the village, Mark and his family were very welcoming and only two happy to show me the room and tell me what's around the surrounding area. The room itself was spacious and comfortable as well stocked with tea! The breakfast on the Sunday morning was exactly what I needed prior to my race. I will certainly look to stay here again and ill look forward to seeing the puppy all grown up!

  • We were very pleased with our stay here. We were greeted by Sarah, Mark's wife, who was very friendly and welcoming, and helped us find a place to eat. The room was clean and tidy, as was the ensuite. Sarah provided us with an excellent continental breakfast in the morning. We arrived at night so it was difficult to find, but that would be the only blip! We would definitely recommend staying here.

  • Mark was a great host! The private entrance into the room was great and allowed as much privacy as needed. Breakfast in bed every morning was a great treat. There was plenty to do in the area and Mark even had plenty of games to keep us occupied when it was raining. Fantastic place, would definitely stay again, thanks Mark!

  • Lovely place, lovely village, lovely host! Mark was very helpful and informative before we arrived. From advice as to where to park our horse lorry to where to eat (the Black Venus down the road is fabulous!). The room is exactly as expected, very light and airy. Everything you could possibly want (comfy bed, glasses for water, hair dryer) and more (games, brochures for local attractions etc). The room is clean and fresh and we had a great sleep. In the morning Mark brought us the breakfast we has requested the night before. We sat eating the lovely continental breakfast whilst listening to the sound of the village church bells.
