Places to stay in Bramston Beach
Unpack. Kick Back Relax. Comfortable room with air conditioning. You can hear the ocean at night and the birds welcoming the day The beach is a 3 minute walk. Hand rails at all entry access point and only 5 steps.
3 Minute walk to beach, which at certain times you will experience being alone in paradise . My location is Close to many waterfalls that are unique to this area. Enjoy peace and quite that this place offers.
It’s a quite beach community. A relaxing atmosphere. There is a boat ramp, bbq in Paperback Park. A small caravan park on the beach. I love the small quite privateness of beach here. It’s a great place to hear your thoughts.
  • Although I only stayed one night I loved the place and the location. The room was great. It's a secluded place that lets you wind down on a lovely beach and on a lovely porch from which you can see weird birds pass by and quarrel. Around the corner there's wildlife waiting for you to spot it. Sharon is a very hospitable and friendly lady who cares for her guests. Although our points of view diverge greatly on quite a number of topics, we had a good time together. I would definitely recommend Sharon's place to anyone who likes a bit of adventure and wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of Cairns.

  • The Sugar Shack is a beautiful, restful place to stay. My family appreciated the very tasteful and comfortable furnishings. I loved the back garden with the huge trees and the view to the ocean. We walked on the beach and admired the landscape several times a day. Having our family dogs with us was the icing on the cake. Thank you very much. Fabulous!

  • Just do it ! Its beautiful . Absolutely everything you need apart from food & alcohol.

  • This house is amazing with a spectacular view. Monica was very helpful and prompt with the replies. Very clean, the BBq was great with a pool to relax in. Even a safe area for kids to play at the bottom of back balcony. Would definitely stay again. Mars

    Marie2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic house in a perfect setting, very clean & comfortable.

    Jean2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a relaxing time staying here with our family. The house is spacious and modern, and the upstairs bedroom has the most amazing views! The gardens are beautiful too, and the pool a refreshing splash to cool down. Couldn’t be happier - already looking forward to coming back :)

    Isaac2019-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time as a family. Monica gave us info about the area and allowed us to prepare our time away. With only a small corner store food shopping and planning is essential for a hassle free family holiday. We were advise prior to our holiday so had time to plan and prepare. The surroundings are gorgeous and the pool allows you to enjoy the tropics without the worry of crocs or stingers. It’s close to cairns but far enough away to clock off and relax!

    Sarah2019-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is a stunning home in an amazing location. Very highly recommended!

    Libby2018-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Absolute bliss! Monica's place is even better in real life, than on the pages of AirBnb. A mere hop, skip & jump to the beach, and if the warm waters of the Coral Sea are too much for you, then a refreshing dip in the pool is just what the doctor ordered. The smells & sounds of the tropics are all here, be it the soothing sounds of the sea lulling you to sleep at night, or the tropical birds chirping & cawing. This modern house, has all the mod cons required for a relaxing care free break, and only an hour South of Cairns. Some small touches that would have made it perfect, would be some basic food staples i.e: olive oil, tomato sauce, jam, vegemite, milk, & more tea. Also, being environmentally minded, we were a little surprised there wasn't a glass/paper recycling bin. All-in-all though, these are very minor items, which in no way distracted from what is a great getaway destination - we'll definitely be back!

    Matt2016-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • The house is really nice and confortable, and it is like it looks in the pictures. We add a great time in the house, and the host was always very nice, helpful and respond to the mails with all the question. We do recommend to stay in the house.

The Single room is on the top floor of the building and has amazing views. You can look all the way up to Mirriwinni and beyond to Bartle Frere. Simple quiet and peaceful living. Shared kitchen where all the fun seems to be and shared dining room, t.v. room otside deck large loungeroom with Baby grand piano, and free wifi etc.
Your space is your own. The balcony along the front of the building is shared..
Babinda is a quiet little town with lots of facilities and four good eating places. It is near to some famous sight seeing spots such as the Boulders and Josephine Falls.
  • The Quarters are wonderful!. One feels the ambience of peace and tranquility as soon as they enter the building. The room I booked served it's purpose well and although it had shared bathroom facilities, those facilities were clean and well maintained. I walked through some of the building while i was there and was so impressed with what I saw (especially the huge lounging room). I can't imagine any one not being happy with the facilities at The Quarters.

Lazell's Eco Retreat is located south of Cairns, QLD, Australia, set on 50 acres of Rainforest. We’re just fifteen minutes from the pristine Babinda Boulders and the famous Babinda Bakery. This is our private paradise, we make our own electricity which is banked in batteries, have glorious rain water for usage only so come and join us for peace and quite, kick off your shoes, gaze at the night stars, read, relax, breathe, nap.... Free Wi-Fi is available.
Our house is very modern and clean. It was built in 2017. 2 storey, open plan living with private decking areas and large grounds. We have BBQ facilities on the main deck for use, however kitchen can be used. We are a Eco friendly house, which means we make our own power and bank it in batteries. Our only source of water is glorious rain water.
Babinda is framed by Queensland’s two highest mountains, Mt Bartle Frere (1622m), and Mt Bellenden Ker (1593m), which gets an average 10-12 metres of rain each year. The rural township subsequently boasts the highest rainfall in Australia, with average rainfall in excess of 4m. Here some of the region’s most challenging and rewarding trails cross this rugged World Heritage area. Take a dip in the cool mountain water of the Babinda Boulders, this pretty reserve has a picnic area, safe swimming area, campground and signposted walks. Downstream the creek settles to offer a unique experience to swim or kayak in the clear waters with sandy beaches to spot fish, turtles and even platypus. In the Babinda township itself you will find Art Deco buildings, an historic hotel, friendly shops and services as well as the Babinda Information Centre. The Babinda Air Raid Shelter is Queensland’s most intact World War 2 public air raid shelter and now serves as a brightly painted toilet block. The heritage-listed Babinda State Hotel was built from rainforest timbers in 1917 by the Queensland Government. Also we have the famous Babinda Bakery with their cream buns!!!!!
  • Deb and David are the best Air BNB hosts we have ever had the privilege to stay with. Their house was phenomenal and so were Charlie and Ziggy (the dogs). We were able to find it pretty easy and felt so comfortable with our hosts. We felt like actual company and not just paying guests. The views are stunning especially when the sun rises (didn’t have a chance to see the sunset due to timing and clouds). The bathroom was a little slice of paradise with the two shower options. We would 100% recommend staying here for your adventures.

    Kari2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We were the first guests of Deb & Dave and can absolutely recommend this place! Lovely people lovely dog Charlie and just an incredible place and experience in the nature! They have a big garden, you feel like in paradise!

  • This is a great place to stay. We actually wished we had been staying longer since it was so clean and nice. It can be a bit difficult to get to but Robert and Tania give great directions and are easy to get in touch with if you need anything. Robert even stayed on the phone with me until I was in the house. Inside the house is clean and has lovely decor. They also have a coffe/espresso machine which we took full advantage of. They also have a book of things to do in the area. We recommend checking out Paronella Park. If you are in the area you should definitely consider staying at Robert and Tania's place!

  • Wow, what an amazing place! My jaw dropped when I walked in, lovely! it was a big space for just me, but I'm not complaining :-D Stylishly set up, clean as a whistle, gorgeous shimmering view of the water from lounge windows, everything you could want ! The only thing worth a mention was I didn't feel comfy using the lovely outdoor back area, as one of the dogs was up against the sliding glass door barking and barking at me and their guidebook mentions one of them can bite. They were not interactive owners and left you to enjoy the beautiful space, highly recommend for a stay in Innisfail!

The area has many attractions close by Paronella Park, Etty Bay where you will see cassowaries walking along the beach, Babinda Boulders, Josephine falls, the Mamu canopy walk, white water rafting in Tully and Mission beach just to name a few

Etty bay is close by about 10 min drive where you can see cassowaries just wondering down the beach. Mission beach is about an 1/2 hour drive where are some great restaurants and cafes if you’re keen you can also sky dive, or just relax on the beautiful beach. What to do in Innisfail the Queens hotel for dinner or lunch or just coffee. Lawn bowls is just a short walk away for some barefoot bowls, also a great golf course and at a affordable price. Innisfail is a great base to go off and explore the beautiful swimming holes of Josephine Falls, Babinda Boulders. Babinda has a great bakery and just next door a fantastic opportunity shop. The Palmerston highway leads you up to the Atherton tablelands with many things to see and do.
  • Awesome !!! We had two wonderful days! Unforgettable ! Thank you for everything !

  • Wow. This is a truly heavenly venue... The thoughtful interior, the sparkling cleanliness, the as new comfy beds, just so beautifully restored and artistically rejuvenated. Hosts are lovely. But all you'd need there plus more (minus air con but we just landed it in the hotest days of the year I think). Copious space. All others who saw it loved it too. Highly recommend!

    Jacqueline2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Loved this renovated church. It was full of quirky artwork and nic nacs. The bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious and comfortable. Also had a large living area, dining area and kitchen space. The table and chairs were lovely to sit at I the morning. Was a good base for one night to see Paronella Park and Innisfail. Saw lots of Cassowaries, Art Deco buildings and a lovely church before we had to move on.

  • A unique place to stay, very comfortable, clean and artistic. If you like being surrounded by religious art, especially of a Catholic style, mixed with some buddhas and hindu deities, this is the place to stay. Huge ensuite for each bedroom, and loads of space to relax.

    Moira2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful, renovated church. The rooms and bathroom are so lovely, everything was very clean and we had lots of space. Bexley is a very friendly host who will do everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible!

Craving to just get away from it all and do nothing but relax and enjoy the seclusion of the beach only metres away - then Seaview @ Bramston is waiting for you! And all within an hours drive south of the Cairns Airport.
Newly renovated (except the retro tiles in the lounge!) and directly opposite the beach and playground of the incredibly peaceful Bramston Beach. It ideally suits 5 people, however there is a sofa bed available in the dining area (although please note that it is a small double bed, so please consider this when booking). Beach towels, pool noodles, blanket/rug & kids sand toys are all available for your use at the beach. I expect this is where you will be spending most of your time, or relaxing with a good book and drink on the patio! Feel free to bring your boat!!! (although no bigger than around 6m, as the creek is tidal), and discover the beautiful Frankland Islands and surrounding reefs - as well as some fantastic fishing!
A small, quiet community that leaves you to enjoy the seclusion of the location! Please consider all council campground signage and do not enter the grounds. There is a path to the right of the playground, which is where you access the beach from, which takes you directly to the stinger net enclosure (during summer months).

Our Tropical Flower Farm is a 52-acre property situated at the foothills of Mt Bartle about one hour drive south of the Cairns International Airport. We grow an extensive variety of tropical Heliconia and Ginger for use in the Australian Cut Flower market. Our farm is completely self-sustainable. We have a waterfall that generates our power through Hydroelectricity and gravity-fed water from a natural spring.
The Guest House is a charming historic Queenslander which was formally a Schoolhouse. The building has been fully restored and refurbished in a style suiting with the stunning surroundings. From the balcony you will have unique and stunning views of the valley and mountains.
Why not do some exploring of the area? It’s a must! We have so many ‘treasures’ just a short distance from the farm. Here are a few of my favourites. Mt Bartle Frere sits in Wooranooran National Park, it is Queensland’s tallest Mountain and at it’s base is spectacular Josephine Falls which is one of the Top Tourist spots to visit in North Queensland. It is just 5 minutes away. There is also a walking track to the top of the mountain. This track is 25kms long and more suited to the avid adventurer, or a 10min walk to arguably the best rock side and swimming hole in North Queensland. Just 20min up the road is the town of Babinda, home to the Babinda Boulders and other gouges and swimming holes. Babinda is a small, quaint sugar processing town with all the shops you need to stock up for your stay. Eubenanqee Swamp Wetland Walk is 15 minutes away. This wetland is one of your hosts favourite spots to sight crocodiles in the wild, if that’s your thing. Very ‘important’ bird area. The 1.5 kl walk comprises of lovely lagoons and swamps. Bring your binoculars as the view from the top of the hill looking back over the swamp and mountains is breathtaking on a clear sunny day. *Note - you must take insect repellent. Bramston Beach Is our closest beach which is 30mins away. You can walk along the white sand of this unspoiled beach collecting shells. Stop off for fish and chips at the local shop or put your boat in at the boat ramp to fish in the creek. Alternately just fish of the beach. Heading NORTH Deeral offers the Frankland Islands, a cluster of pristine National Park Islands which is 30min north on the Bruce hwy. A boat tour/cruise leaves every day to take you to this amazing group of islands. Snorkelling and diving is possible there off the beach. Seeing the Great Barrier Reef with turtles and Clown Fish, (NEMO) within meters of the beach is amazing. It’s great not having to spending hours getting out to the reef. This allows you to spend more time exploring the island and snorkelling for around 4.5 hours. Behana Gorge is 40min up the highway and is yet another beautiful crystal-clear mountain swimming hole to enjoy. This is a 3.2 km walk into Clamshell falls. The walk is full of open Eucalypt forest changing to rainforest ferns. This is part of ‘The Great Green Way'. If you’re thinking of looking SOUTH for some tourist spots? Take a look at these. The town of Innisfail is known as a banana and sugar town and is a ‘noted Art Deco town’. It sits on the Johnson river. Innisfail is 25mins from you, so you can stock up at the major supermarkets here. Snapping Tours at Innisfail wharf is a locally owned family business offering boat cruises along Innisfail’s Johnson River. This is great for spotting local wildlife such as Crocodiles. Etty Bay 32 mins away is a little cove beach where you can see the local Cassowary walk along the beach and into the park looking for food. You must be there around 9 am to see them. Australian Sugar Heritage Centre is at Mourilyan just on your way to Etty Bay. The Centre is a museum where you can experience the drama and heritage of the sugar cane industry and see how sugar is produced. The displays are history in the making of our area. Paronella Park 40 mins away, is one the top tourist places to visit in North Queensland. Paronella Park has a ’Romantic’ history. It is ruins of a Spanish castle set on a picturesque 5-hectare park next to Mena Creek Falls. It was Queensland’s first privately owned hydroelectric plant built back in 1933. It offers a unique view into one man’s dream to build a Castle and open it up to everyone.
  • We loved everything about our stay, delightful house, thoughtful touches, everything we could possibly need during our stay, lots of information, the peacefulness, sitting on the veranda enjoying the rain falling all around us and then there were the flowers. Amazing!

    Chris2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Jodies place is a very special gem on a hill overlooking a large tropical flower farm and backing onto a tropical rainforest /jungle National Park. The house is a lovingly restored former School with all the traditional Queenslander features, a huge deck and equipped with new, modern appliances, BBQ, luxurious amenities and superb handcrafted furniture. We hope to visit again soon for a longer stay!

    Andrew2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Jodies place is a little paradise! My friend and I stayed for a couple of days and wished that we could stay for a couple of weeks. The house is gorgeous - spacious, comfortable, cool in the heat, and beautifully decorated with the tropical flowers grown on the farm. It has everything you need (including an additional outdoor shower and bath) and Jodie even left a little hamper of goodies to help us with our stay. We loved that the farm is powered by a hydroelectric system on the creek on the property which also provides the delicious drinking water, as well as multiple places to swim including an incredible private waterfall (no crocs here!). There are two sweet horses and two friendly dogs to meet, and many things to do around the area as you are so close to the national park, Josephine falls and Babinda boulders. Jodie and her family were so welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable about the local area and the flowers that they grow, taking us on a tour of the farm which was really interesting and guiding us to the upper waterfalls. We had such a peaceful and relaxing stay here and we hope that we can come back one day in the future.

Our peaceful 4 hectare property is situated in the foothills of Queenslands tallest peak, Mt Bartle Frere. The land fronts onto a beautiful creek that is suitable for swimming and relaxation. The cottage is a wonderful quiet retreat.
The cottage has panoramic views of the valley and mountains. It is self contained with lounge, kitchen, queen bedroom and reef bathroom. It is self catering. Situated on a large rural property in a beautiful valley, it is always peaceful here and serene at Bella Vista. Far from bright city lights, the night sky reveals the milky way in its full splendour.
Supplies are available in nearby Babinda, which has two pubs, a supermarket, bakery and a movie theater open on weekends. Other nearby attractions include: The Boulders, Josephine falls - the natural waters life is fun, Eubenangee Swamp and Bramston Beach.
  • We LOVED our stay at Jan’s place. So grateful that she is sharing this piece of heaven. This space have everything you need. It’s so close to many of the Babinda hikes and attractions and the views of the mountains are breath taking. We planned on spending just a morning down by the beautiful creek, but we couldn’t leave, we stayed there all day. Jan was such an amazing host, she gave us the warmest welcome into the country. Lots of great tips, she made sure we had everything we needed and answered all of our questions, very quick to respond :) Thank you so much! We will be back! Erin, Greg & Diane 🍁

  • Fantastic location, close to a number waterfalls and small-large hikes. Despite the rainy weather you could sit in the cottage and watch the birds and butterfly dancing about the beautiful trees all the while, the clouds pass through the green mountains.

  • If you have two arms, legs and a heartbeat you should stay here.

    Will2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Jan's place was just amazing. There's everything you need in the cottage, including picnic baskets, esky, and books about local nature and wildlife. At nights you can enjoy complete darkness and silence except birds singing, which is nice and calming. The creek with private access is perfect for a swim on a hot day and you can find turtles and platypuses there if you are lucky. Jan is a wonderful person, who truly loves nature and shares her knowledge with you if you are interested.

    Nikita2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful! So much space for the dogs to run around, beautiful bush walks, a crystal clear creek and a fantastic cottage. A lovely weekend away!

    Meg2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was hands down one of the most picturesque places I have ever stayed in. For the price I was certainly not expecting to be so comfortable and in such a beautiful place. Swims in crystal clear babinda creek, looking up at the Milky Way and watching the sunset over the mountains was the perfect way to turn off from the outside world. Jan was a super friendly and knowledgeable host and I very much enjoyed her local/ nature knowledge. 1000623.08 percent recommend this to anyone with a pulse.

  • Helen’s place is great. Very central, only a 25 minute walk to Innisfail town centre. We had complete privacy and felt very welcome. We had access to the laundry and our own bathroom. Helen and James are a wealth of local knowledge and full of tips on where to visit and how to get there.

  • Another great stay at Helens..

    Janice2019-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks to James’ local tips, we saw five Wallabies and a Cassowary in one morning! I really appreciated this as I hadn’t seen much wildlife in Australia until this point. As regards the listing - accurately described and spotlessly clean studio space underneath Helen and James’ house. You must have a car to stay here. Also, listen to the GPS instructions that Helen kindly provides, as Apple Maps navigates incorrectly towards the end (which isn’t anybody’s fault). We met one of their pups which was lovely, 12 months old! I should quickly add that there isn’t any Wifi for those that expect it.

Hillside House is a quality self contained luxury apartment, with Coral sea views from the front deck and rainforest at the back. A great place to relax. Morning coffee can be taken on the rainforest patio among the coolness of the pots of native plants. The rainforest patio is where you may spot our cheeky forest lizards. Fred our resident big fat white lipped green tree frog is around somewhere comfy, and if you're very lucky you may see a fawn footed melomy passing through. If you quietly pop your head over the back fence, you'll likely see a wallaby or a cassowary . Sundowners on the front deck while enjoying the evening breeze. In fact you may like to have dinner out there too. The chefs kitchen allows you to pass snacks and drinks through the servery window. Don't forget to have a swim in the pool. .
You will have your own private gate and entrance through the potted garden, and courtyard where the bbq and pizza oven are. The laundry is also accessed in this area. Your lower floor contains the entrance hall and wine cellar, next to which is The French Room. A comfortable queen size room with french style provincial furniture in it. Airconditioned, but mostly cool anyway because it sits on the rock of the hillside. Six stairs take you up to the main living area where you will find the lounge, dining room and kitchen. The main verandas are on this level on two sides. Continue up the stairs to the mezzanine office/library, and you will find the bedroom with the single beds on your left complete with two small work or play desks so the children can use the colouring books and pencils. There are also some building blocks and a toy box. The other door takes you to the master bedroom with ensuite and spa bath. You have a toilet on this level as well as a private veranda. Plenty of hanging space for your clothes as well as drawers. You can see the sea from the bed usually depending on whether the giant tree fern has a new frond or not. The bed is extremely comfortable.
Flying Fish Point is a very popular and pleasant place to visit. There are some good walks from just strolls along the beaches to the more energetic one all the way to the Ella Bay National Park. The track to Ella Bay National Park is popular with mountain bike riders, but not too strenuous. You could have a stroll from Flying Fish Point along to The Coconuts Beach, which is good for a morning exercise. The estuary of the Johnston River can be clearly seen from The Coconuts, with some interesting boat traffic. Further out in the shipping channel, you could perhaps spot The Pacific Dawn or some other passenger cruise boat. Especially pretty at night from the veranda, when they go past lit up like Christmas trees. You will also see the freighters sometimes waiting for the correct tide to get into Mourylin Harbour to load up with sugar .
  • A lovely house to spend time. Nice and clean. Also quiet. Thanks Eileen

    Kim2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Eileen is a bloody marvel. The place is in the tropics and therefore subject to all of the things that go with moist, hot environments, and yet she keeps the place clean and inviting. The place is enormous and has everything you possibly need. Best of all, she is welcoming to all of the family members, including our much loved furred four pawed friends, who also enjoyed their stay.

    Colleen2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Loved Eileen and Gordon's home. Had everything you could want plus some beautiful added extras. Loved the little sunbird. A kind and caring couple, many thanks.

  • Hillside House is in a beautiful location. The house has everything you need for an easy and relaxed stay. There is so much space in the apartment! The verandah has a gorgeous outlook towards the ocean, the pool is lovely and the styling is very neat. Eileen is super friendly and very happy to assist us. We would happily stay here again.

    Cassi2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • This very unique apartment style mezzanine section of a large house was better than I expected. Full privacy from hosts (and everyone else), huge space with 3 bedrooms, large balcony, walking distance to the beach, attentive hosts if you require them, full kitchen, satellite tv, can’t fault it! Master bedroom is very luxurious too with huge open spa bath and balcony etc. Good value for a work trip which I was there for. I’d also recommend to anyone travelling there for a holiday.

    Alexander2019-11-08T00:00:00Z

  • Fantastic spot. Got all you could ask for. Great views of the river

  • The Mulgrave River was an idyllic setting for an Air BnB. Breath-taking views surround you from every room. To top it off, Yvette was an incredible host. Gracious, generous, kind, and knowledgeable with an acuity for meeting the needs of people away from home. Thoughtful touches abound, including little nightlights to guide you on your midnight trip to the toilet. She had a wealth of knowledge about the area and provided an excellent itinerary for our family. To name just a few easy highlights, we visited Milla Milla Falls, Zillie Falls, Babinda Boulders, Josephine Falls and the Curtain Fig Tree on our drive through the Tablelands. We also saw Lake Eacham, which has a 1.5 km Childrens Walk and a longer 3 km walk around the lake. All sights are world-class destinations worthy of great expense, yet are free to enjoy. We planned to do the Frankland Island snorkeling cruise, which is a 5-minute walk from the Mulgrave River Boat House. Highly recommend the snorkeling tour...and you receive a discount for mentioning Yvettes place! It was pouring rain the day we went for our trip and Yvette very kindly drove to pick us up! Her dear husband Rick also drove to meet us with our son’s forgotten jacket. Truly salt of the earth kind of people. We are so grateful for our experience! Thank you Yvette and Rick! Our 8-year old says “They are really nice and if you have problems they’ll help you.” Truer words never spoken. :)

  • This house totally exceeded my expectations ! Such a fabulous location, super comfortable, clean and the space had such a welcoming feel ! The hosts were absolutely fabulous and went above and beyond to make my stay perfect ! The serene view and location, were unbeatable and I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for some magic in deeral ! Can’t wait to come back again ! :)

  • Yvette greeted us for check-in with a warm hug and a bottle of wine. She's thought of all the right small touches, like milk for tea, some Ferrero roche (really spoiling us), water chilled in the fridge and even a book on local croc attacks. The accommodation is well placed as a base to explore the local watering holes (go to Josephine Falls and Babina Boulders), Cairns and the Frankland islands. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at Yvettes again!

  • Great hosts, keep to please. Amazing senary and close to many awesome places to visit

    Chris2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Spotlessly clean, well equipped, comfy bed, aircon and fans. Beautiful location and handy to Frankland Island tour operator. Very friendly and knowledgeable host.

  • If you want nice relaxing place to stay then this is it! Beautiful location next to Mulgrave river, I could sit all day out on the balcony and watch the boats go past. The Boat house is very spacious, comfy place. It has a great kitchen with everything you need to cook a meal and even a coffee machine for those morning coffees. The place is very clean and tidy, with those nice little touchers, such a travel guide, game boards, cooler bag, freezer blocks and picnic glasses, if you go for a picnic or day trip. Wine and chocolate on arrive! The place also had wifi and a smart TV in it, including Netflix, which is an extra bonus! Good for when you want to watch a Movie at night once the sunsets. This place is close to local attractions such as Babinda boulders, Josephine waterfalls, Paronella park (Must see!!), Lake Eacham and lots more. Communication between Yvette was great, quick response. We had an issue with hot water and they fix it within seconds. Yvette and Rick are very friendly and helpful couple, especially with suggestions for day trips and good local places to eat (Babinda kool spot café is a must). I have stayed at a few Airbnb places in Cairns over the years and this is the top one so far, I would defiantly recommend a stay here.

  • What a great place to stay. Very quite, amazing mountain and river views, very clean and comfortable place to stay and the extra touches were appreciated. We would definately come back. Eric and Yvette were the best hosts.

Wild Ginger is a boutique property, with the highest quality linen, facilities, including high speed internet. Your host, Naomi, lives on the property in an adjoining granny flat. She is often away and is very unobtrusive, respecting your privacy at all times but available for advice or assistance at anytime. However if you prefer to have the place entirely to yourself, at an extra charge of $50 A night you can have the key to the gate and complete privacy. This 50 acres of untouched rainforest, seamlessly shares the boundary of a huge national park which encompasses Mt Bellenden Ker and its catchment area. The creek flowing past the house and the larger one a short walk away, have the purest water on Earth. From late October through to April, the beaches in North Queensland are off limits due to deadly box jellyfish and are intolerably hot as well. This is when Wild Ginger is at its finest, the coolness of the lush jungle and the swimming holes at a perfect temperature for swimming all day! The house is fully airconditioned and and has two large queen bedrooms. There is a mezzanine bedroom with a queen size inner spring mattress, which has a ladder staircase and a low ceiling. Ancient figs full of orchids, ferns and birds nest ferns spread their twisting buttress roots around the mossy boulders. Platypus live in the clear pools along with forest dragons and vibrant butterflies while fluorescent dragonflies skim the dancing water. You will have a vast area of crocodile free, completely private streams and jungle all to yourself. If you are fit and the weather is fine you can rock hop for hours up the creek into a truly untouched paradise which is inaccessible to anyone else. On a clear night you might like to build a bonfire on the creek bank and cook food over the coals while enjoying the forest at night. The charming little town of Babinda is nearby where a supermarket, bakery, butcher, newsagent, craft shop, movie theater, hospital, doctor, pharmacy, two pubs, cafes and restaurants are available. A few minutes down the road is the Bellenden Ker boat ramp. Bring your own boat or hire one locally and explore the wild stretches of the twin rivers, (The Mulgrave and The Russell) and visit the small beach community of Russell Heads. Take a day trip on Frankland Island Cruises, up the jungle clad river to an uninhabited tropical Island where you can swim from a white sandy beach and snorkel the fantastic coral fringing reef, admire the fish and cavort with giant turtles. Lunch is provided and all gear. Go on a Snapping Tours trip down the river at Innisfail and see crocodiles. Visit the Mamu Canopy Walk, skydive at Innisfail or go white water rafting. You are an hour closer than Cairns to the rafting location on the Tully River. There are too many nearby attractions to mention, including Behana Gorge, The Boulders, Josephine Falls, The Sugar Museum, Paronella Park and and so much more! It is a twenty minute drive to both the Gillies and the Palmerston Highway making Wild Ginger a great base to explore the Atherton Tablelands. Beautiful Mission Beach is an hour's drive away. Bramston Beach is the closest beach, with picturesque Etty Bay a little further south where you are certain to see the resident cassowaries. Etty Bay is close to the nearest large town which is the green and pretty Innisfail in its river setting. Most of the natural wonders for which North Queensland is famous, are in the southern sector of the Cairns region; yet there is very little accommodation available in the area. Wild Ginger Rainforest Retreat is truly a hidden paradise where you can sleep with nothing but the music of the creek and the forest and be immersed in nature. There is no public transport so you will need your own vehicle. The property is an easy 1km from the Bruce Highway and has a good road. Wild Ginger is not suitable for children under 6.
This is a peaceful rural area, always green and lush with the mountains in the background. Sugar cane fields full of waving flower stalks move in the wind. Beautiful creeks and waterfalls bisect the countryside and small, friendly country towns and roadside pubs dot the region. The area has a higher rainfall than Cairns.
  • The location is everything with this place. A true haven and very peaceful and relaxing. It is completely away from everyone and everything. The house is well appointed and has everything that you need. Naomi was very easy to communicate with both via emails and in person and helpfully showed us things on our arrival. Although Naomi lives next door, she completely respects your privacy and when she was there we didn’t see her at all. We would not hesitate to recommend this place. It is a must if you want to truly escape from it all.

    Bruce2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • The place is amazing, its truly will be the highlight of the trip for anyone staying! Naomi is a perfect host, always ready to help and was so lovely meeting her and enjoying her hospitality! Looking forward to come back, missing the place already!

  • Place was really great. A beautiful part of the world. If you're not familiar with north Queensland, it's a must. Endless rainforest and swimming holes to enjoy and hike through.

    Michael2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Magical. If you’re considering booking, just do it. It’s easily the best place I’ve ever stayed.

    Jessica2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I had the most amazing stay at Naomis. We spent New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day and the following day at the beautiful Wild Ginger Retreat. The space itself is incredible, so romantic and secluded. Apart from the amazing retreat itself the private rainforest is gorgeous, we went swimming in the two spots recommended every day. We actually hardly left the wild ginger retreat while we were there except to visit Babinda to go to the bakery. The drive from Cairns to Bellenden Ker was beautiful. We can’t recommend this place enough, it would be great for a honeymoon destination as it is so secluded and romantic. Thanks Naomi for having us, we hope to return in the future and we have recommended it to al our friends xx

    Jessie2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Naomi’s place for a week and absolutely loved every minute of it. The house is very clean, comfortable and has everything a family would need. The nature, wildlife and the creeks that surrounds it takes one’s breath away. Naomi is a private but very friendly host. Any queries were answered promptly. If you have a chance for Naomi to cook for you - take it with both hands! We will definitely be back!

    Sanja2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Honestly just perfect. We spent the first 3 days on our honeymoon here and could not have chosen a better spot. We spent a whole day hiking & swimming along nearby Harvey Creek, which was absolutely spectacular and completely untouched & private; highly recommended! The house was gorgeous, clean & stylish with plenty of space. Our best Airbnb stay so far!

    Kara2019-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • This Airbnb was fantastic. It was everything we hoped for and much more. A lovely little slice of paradise on the edge of the rainforest. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to escape for a few days.

  • Fantastic location. Exactly as described. We had a great stay in this home. Perfect for beach holiday. Not many shops around so bring supplies but there is plenty of fridge and freezer space. Plenty of bedding. Stress free holiday :)

    Christopher2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay (2 guests) in the Bramston Beach Hut, which is just a short walk to the beach. The house has all the facilities needed for a self-catering holiday but bring your own food or shop in Babinda or Mirriwinni on the way. There is an outdoor eating area with a bar, which is a good spot for hanging out in the evenings. We found it very good value and a home from home. Natalie responded to all enquiries extremely quickly. Apart from the beach, there is plenty to explore in the area. Check out the easy walk at the Eubenangee Swamp, leading through rainforest to a hill with amazing views over the waterlily-dotted lakes of the swamp lands.

    Helen2018-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at this house, with the beach a short leisurely stroll away and a safe fishing spot for the kids within a few minutes drive. There was plenty of bedding, towels and cooking equipment, which made it very easy to be comfortable and make ourselves at home. The outside undercover area was great for eating and I liked the outside toilet and bathroom to put the kids through the shower after being at the beach.

I would recommend this place to everyone to relax or re-energise yourself and we would definitelty return again.

    Timothy2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is an awesome place we loved the little creek nearby , the lush greenery and the night sky was beautiful! It was also very close to town , just a 15 minute drive to innisfail . Our two cattle dogs enjoyed their stay too. The kitchen is very well equipped and the room was very clean .

    Amanda2018-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful 2-night stay at your tropical sanctuary! The unit was very comfortable with a well equipped kitchen and spacious en suite shower, (with great water pressure in the shower) and had lovely finishing touches with beautiful vases of flowers. We loved spending time on the patio overlooking the beautiful green pastures, bbqing and having a beer. Our two puppies also enjoyed their stay and felt very welcome. Our favourite part of our stay was swimming in the natural waterhole, complete with a super fun zip line! Thank you Peter for a lovely stay, will be recommending your place to friends. Anna, Dan, Ivy & Rocket :)

    Gib2017-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful natural setting. Tranquil. The unit is separate to the family home so its very private. A lovely breeze kept things comfortable. Our dog was welcomed. The natural swimming hole was gorgeous and Peter even leant us his 4 wheeler to access the creek although most cars could get there and its only 8 minutes walk anyway. The fully self-contained unit was very comfortable, and the grounds were lovely. The rolling hills setting is less than 15min from town with a beach 10 minutes beyond that. Just lovely. Thanks Peter and family.

  • Exceeded our expectations. Gail was friendly and welcoming and I was very impressed with the well looked after vintage character of the place. We ended up getting a very private room with our own bathroom. The room was spacious and there was a fridge and TV, the bed was comfortable and warm. We spent a few hours that night chatting to the lovely Glenn (the head chef) on the top closed in balcony over a few drinks. Our accommodation came with breakfast, but we were a little seedy to eat anything. Really pleasant bars and there is ample car parking. Will definitely return.

  • Ian & Cheryl’s place is off the beaten track, among can fields and close to a tidal river full of and surrounded by native birds, fish and the odd reptile. The place is well equipped and central to highlights from Paronella south of Innesfail to Babinda and Bartle Frere to the north. We chose to stay here for the quiet location and were well rewarded with two delightful, interesting and well-travelled people offering all that we needed for our stay.

  • This is a great quiet place away from the city noise. I stayed for one month, highly recommend for nature lovers

  • Excellent home base for a two man work crew. Entire ground floor with plenty of space. Not luxurious but it has everything you could ever possibly need. Entry is through the garage which didn’t matter in the least. Ian made undercover space available for our stores/equipment. Vehicle and machinery were safe parked out the front.

  • I stayed at Kerry’s house as part of a work trip with my 88 year old dad along for the ride. It was a great alternative to a hotel and well suited to an older person who needed things to be easily accessible. The property was clean, bright and spacious. Beds were very comfortable. TV, Wifi, Sound System, Netflix everything to keep you entertained The breakfast provisions provided were generous, with lots of lovely fresh local fruit and a cupboard stocked with all the essentials. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need to prepare a meal and we cooked each night. It was close to town but far enough away so that at the end of a long day you could enjoy the peace and quiet. Across the road was a lovely walk along the river for those who like to get out and about. Beautiful Etty Bay and Mourilyan Harbour were a short drive away and well worth the trip to see the Cassowary’s. We were there in February when it is quite hot and the air conditioning and extra fans kept us cool at all times. Kerry really puts in the extra effort to make sure you feel welcome, comfortable and nothing was too much trouble. It was great value for money and we would definitely stay at Kerry’s property again when visiting the area.

  • Stayed at KERRY and PETER's home for two nights, leaving very good memories. The house was very spacious, clean and well-equipped. They also prepared picture books and toys. There was a lot of food in the refrigerator. We couldn't bear to leave. PETER is the CEO of a medical center. He did n’t see us for the first two days because of work. The morning before we left, he came to say hello to us and took us to the second floor to visit their house and his workshop in the garden. . Very friendly and loving couple, 100% recommended for everyone!

  • We were very impressed by the consistently high level of wonderful reviews, and that’s exactly what we received with our stay. Lovely space, very generous hosts, we really did feel at home and very comfortable with how clean and well thought out everything was. A credit to Kerry & Peter. Would highly recommend and will undoubtedly return.

  • Very spacious accommodation with plenty of extra amenities which were much appreciated. Kerry’s presence was unobtrusive but it was good to know she was there if we needed her. We enjoyed both her and Peter’s hospitality and conversation in their lovely garden one evening: thank you.
