“My favorite brewery in Bend for 5 years running. They usually have my favorite beer at any given time, and they span the full range of styles. They also have my favorite atmosphere, with mountain views, a big lawn with food trucks, lawn games, and room for the kids to run around. In the summer every night here feels like a block party. Happy hour is at sunset (they call it sundowner, and it changes with the seasons of course) because they have great sunset views of the mountains. ”

“Deschutes Brewery is the grand-daddy of them all. Many of the brew-masters that founded breweries in Central Oregon got their start at Deschutes. They make some really great beers, and the food they serve at the pub is excellent as well.”

“The McMenamins in Bend is like a small campus of things to do and see, all with the great cozy and eclectic McMenamins style. Scattered throughout the property there are cozy little bars, a restaurant, movie theater, turkish style soaking pool, and a courtyard where they keep a dozen fire pits roaring. Okane's is one of my all-time favorite spots to end an evening. The atmosphere is incredible, and they keep a dozen or so big fires roaring all night. You can order drinks and food from a small house that has a bar and a few booths inside. The theater is a lot of fun. The seating is a mix of couches and chairs, and there is bar in the side room where you can order food, drinks, and movie snacks. The soaking pool is amazing after a day of skiing. It is a single open-ceiling room with a small pool sized hot tub. Its amazing to sit in the hot pool while snow drifts gently down through the ceiling. You can also take drinks in there. ”

Scenic Viewpoint
“This Butte is a major focal point located in the center of Bend. It's approximately one mile up. You are able to drive or bike it or utilize the footpath to walk up the dirt path. The view will reward your efforts, offering visitors a sweeping 360 panorama of the Cascade Mountain Range, Calderas, Smith Rock and the City of Bend. There is ample parking and a restroom when you reach the top. The center platform has directional and tutorial information about the area. I suggest you stop at the Pilot Butte Drive-in at the bottom of the hill, grab a milkshake and head up in time to watch the sunset behind the mountains. They also display fireworks off the top on the Fourth of July, which can be seen from nearly everywhere in Bend. Open sunrise to sunset during peak tourist season. Closed during the winter months to drive, but you can still hike it. Best photo opportunities are in the mornings when the sun is shining on the mountains or at sunset. Difficulty: Easy/Moderate Distance: 1.7 miles out and back Elevation: 4,142 ft. Hike: 480 ft. Parking: On top or at lower base on the East side of butte Pet Friendly”

“Worthy Brewing is a really unique place with fantastic beer and food. They have a working observatory where they do free guided viewings of celestial objects every night, and sometimes they do sunspot viewing during the day. The also have a great outdoor biergarten with a stage, multiple levels of balcony seating in the summer, and multiple bars throughout the property.”
