“Diesel and Creme is an iconic landmark on Route 62. The retro decor is fun and funky, and they are world-famous for their double thick milkshakes - not for dairy intolerants I'm afraid!”

“Bistro Blues is the small town version of a steakhouse with a bar that the locals frequent, they are only open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 18h00 until late, if you want to see how the locals of Barrydale unwind, this is the place to go.”

“The Karoo Art Hotel is one of my favourite country hotels in the whole world. It is fun, funky, arty, and a bit eccentric, but totally warm and welcoming at the same time. It has art on all its walls for sale, a fabulous sports bar and place to try out your vinyl DJ-ing skills, whilst its restaurant serves hearty food. During winter they show retro movies in their original bioskoop cinema - with popcorn thrown in. It also has a lovely pool oasis.”

“Ruth 62 is situated on the R62 in a built from scratch building inspired by a country church. They make the BEST doughnuts on a Saturday and Sunday morning, as well as traditional roosterkook. The shop brims with local crafts, books and paintings, and on some weekends there is a food and craft market outside the small 'church.'”

“A super place to grab a bite to eat. Mike Clarke has many years of cheffing under his belt and has won numerous culinary awards during that period.”

“New ownership, so I'm not sure what the food is like as I haven't yet had a chance to sample their wares, but the Pumpkin has always been a part of the Barrydale food scene.”
