  • We absolutely loved our stay here! Olman was incredibly friendly, present and helpful answering our many questions about various tours and other free activities around the area. Our two walled bungalow abutting the jungle was incredible to sleep in surrounded by the sounds of the jungle. The outdoor kitchen was equally wonderful and well equipped, we cooked some fantastic meals there and had a great time eating and socializing in the common area. 10/10, would definitely stay there again, it really made out visit to Drake Bay memorable more than any tour our beach.

  • In the middle of the jungle, expect visits from agouti, lizards, hummingbirds, raccoons, butterflies and cicadas :D

  • Great vibes in the kitchen/social area. Helpful host. Would stay again.

  • A place like no other on earth! We got into perfect harmony with nature here. It was fantastic

  • My experience was excellent. I stayed at a different hotel (for almost twice the price) my first night in Drake Bay and was so worried and disappointed by the amount of construction and street noise and I left asap. Then I came to mohagane and it was exactly what I was looking for and more! I originally booked for two nights, but within an hour or so, I could see that this was the place for me, so i booked another 2 nights. I am an avid camper and loved the open air concept to the rooms and kitchen. It is very much like camping in the jungle, but still very comfortable. Also, they have a community space which is very welcoming and accommodating to meeting people without being awkward or obligatory. You can save money by cooking for yourself and they provide many basic spices, dishes, etc. The staff is extremely friendly and easy to be around, and they will help you with planning trips, but no pressure. I went snorkling and did the corvocado park tour and both were excellent and a great value for the money. But i saw lots of small wildlife on the property! Can't say enough good things about the place. Highly recommended!

  • We were pleasantly surprised by the wonderfully situated Airbnb of Anja. It surpassed all our expectations. Staff were very friendly and all the other visitors easy to get on with. A dream location. Highly recommended.

  • Very nice place in the jungle. Everyday you see hummingbirds, monkeys and parrots. Kitchen is really good for cooking your own meals.

Our buildings are right next to the ocean so you can fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean and the rainforest. Our property boasts 130 acres of Primary rainforest to explore right on the border of the Corcovado National Park. In order to arrive, you most take an hour and a half boat ride from Sierpe, or a 15 min boat ride from Drake Bay. The boat leaves Sierpe at 11:20am and Drake Bay at ~12:30am. We have a bar/restaurant on the property with many options on the menus.
We regularly get visits from our resident tapir, monkeys, and many other animals. We offer many tour options like trips to Cano Island which you can see right from your window. We serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day and spearfish fresh fish right outside our bay for dinners. We offer a bar as well as laundry services.
Our closest neighbors are a 30 minute walk to the north or an hour walk to the south. We have surprisingly close ties to the surrounding community given the remoteness of our location, but do not expect to find a grocery store or an atm nearby. Prepare to unplug and enjoy nature in its purest form!
  • Heavenly place, in a perfect place to disconnect. The activities are managed on site, nothing to predict! Be careful though to be well informed about access to the hotel. I recommend +++

    Ana2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Probably the greatest place in Costa Rica , maybe even the world! Words can't do this place justice. The boat ride there was sooooo much fun (wear sunscreen though my guns got pretty sunburnt). When we arrived, someone was waiting at shore to help us unload and carried our bags to reception. We immediately got checked in and were given a tour of the place and shown our room, and then we were free to enjoy paradise. Tons of hammocks available in the sun and in the shade. The water was great and tons of great beach to enjoy! I'm a wildlife photographer and I was in heaven, toucans and macaws and monkeys that i could literally see from my bedroom window. The chef there was killer as well. 12/10 the best pasta Alfredo I've had in my entire life. Wifi worked and everything else was great, cant say enough good things about this place, I'm already planning on coming back next year.

  • The manager Bryan was the greatest host and took such good care of all the guests. This is really a paradise and you feel so connected with nature. Strongly recommend this place!

    Emma2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of those unique spots in the world where you automatically will disconnect and relax! The atmosphere is so friendly, open and relaxed and being close to nature in a very simple, rustic environment in relative isolation yet having all essentials and access to great food and friendly staff and other guests, just makes a perfect combination. One of the best travel experiences I had!

  • Beautiful, relaxing and peaceful place to stay. We had a fab time

    David2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Jungle Del Jaguar was amazing! We spent one week there and had a great experience. We dove two days at Caño Island, spent one day at Corcovado National Park, and we did the extended night hike with Jasner (probably spelled wrong...) (from jungle Del jaguar). All of the activities were arranged by Kimberly and she kept us informed and answered all our questions. The diving was superb, great visibility and we saw a lot! The National Park was also excellent, we saw a lot of wildlife, from small insects to monkeys, tapirs, and anteaters. This is definitely a place you want to stay! You can see and experience so much, even just on their property alone! All of the staff is incredibly friendly and wonderful - shout out to Kimberly, Matt, Lucas, and Jasner! We had a lot of fun getting to know everyone, playing games, fishing, swimming together. We felt like we left having made some new friends :) We really hope to be back one day!

    Bailey2019-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Being in the jungle away from everything is exactly what I was looking for and this place did just that! lots of wildlife.

    Sachin2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I stayed at Jungla Del Jaguar for four nights and the atmosphere was absolutely incredible. Despite the rainy season, we swam in the ocean everyday before breakfast and sat on the deck sipping coffee and drinking smoothies while looking at the views. We headed to Corcovado national park on our third day and we were lucky to see some sloths, a tapier and the amazing jungle wildlife. Our Jungla Del Jaguar experience was phenomenal and given the option, we would’ve put an additional star. Thank you to the Jungla team for the amazing time and top notch hospitality! Pura Vida!

The cabin has a wooden floor and is otherwise, as well as the fittings, made of cane by hand. The roof has a transparent part for giving sufficient light, its height and tall trees provides a fresh and airy climate. A fan gives additional ventilation. The accommodation also has a mosquito net and mattress protector. It has a covered outdoor area with a bench, table and hammock, also a private garden. All our rooms, huts, supply rooms and passages are equipped with smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and emergency lights for power outages.

  • Mohagine was the perfect place for our stay in Drake Bay. A short walk to the beach, grocery and good restaurants. The hut was minimalist, but clean. The common area was great for hanging out and preparing meals. The free coffee was a nice touch.

    Rob2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Mohagine has a beautiful garden with a lot of birds and flowers. The cabins and tents are very comfortable and you are provided with daily cleaning, towels, sheets and a fan. It is a peaceful place and conveniently located near good restaurants, supermarkets and the beach. The showers, bathrooms and kitchen areas are kept immaculately clean. Everyone who works there is welcoming and friendly. Onmal is very knowledgeable about the local tours and was very helpful in setting up tours to La Sirena, snorkeling, and The Tapir's Trail. We were really happy with all our guides and tours. It was a great place to stay during our visit and I would definitely go back again.

    Suzanne2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely location and very helpful staff. Olman was very kind and helped us catch our boat. We spotted some interesting wildlife from where we were staying, including mother and baby agouti and loads of tanager birds!

    Amra2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Mohagine was one of the most memorable parts of our trip. The hosts were warm and welcoming and personally set up various activities around the area, such as snorkeling and a guided trip to Corcovado. Because our hosts took care of contacting the different tours and arranging transportation it gave us the opportunity to really relax and truly enjoy our vacation. The lodging is in a stunning location tucked away in the jungle all while still being within walking distance from all the restaurants, markets and tour activities. Shared amenities provided opportunities to interact with other guests from around the world at leisure. The shared kitchen with designated storage space gave us the opportunity to purchase food at the markets and not have to break the bank by dining out for every meal. Most importantly, Mohagine provided complementary coffee every morning.

    Alex2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Mohagine. It was a great base for Drake Bay and Corcovado National Park. It was very easy to organise transport between Drake Airport, the Bay and Sierpe by boat it was all handled by our hosts. The property is great, the bungalow was clean and secure and the open plan kitchen and common area had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. There was plenty of wildlife on the property, from monkeys, sloths, lizards and birds. This was a great stay!

    Dan2019-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • If you book this accommodation, expect extreme hospitality, a little adventure, a beautiful and clean cabin and lots of animals. Anja and her staff were always there to answer questions and organize tours. Each of them gives tips on what you could not look at yet. Already at breakfast you can watch monkeys, sloths and various beautiful birds. The accommodation itself was very nicely decorated and very clean. You just feel very comfortable from the very first second, which is certainly the case with the lovely people there. If I explore Costa Rica again, then definitely a stay in Drake Bay with Anja!

    Katrin2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • If we could score 10 points for Anja's hospitality, we would do it. Like everyone else, we were greeted with a cup of tea in the garden and provided with good tips. Anja's little kingdom is very quaint, cozy, the dining area is designed with great attention to detail, her staff Elena and Adonis are very helpful and nice. Our little cabin had everything you need, including the morning monkey roar. If you are looking for a true jungle experience, this is the place for you. Our tips for a stay at Anja are: make sure the horseback ride with Melvin, because you get a very different perspective on the rainforest, we also liked the snorkel tour with whale watching and of course the tour through the Corcovado. In culinary terms we can recommend the restaurant Carey in Drake Bay, which is also recommended and advertised by Anja herself. Juan Carlos is an excellent chef and you have to try all the fish of the day. We would love to come back and recommend Anjas Paradies!

    Elisabeth2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Mohagine is a lovely jungle oasis with exceptional staff and awesome setting. We saw monkeys, hummingbirds and much more from our cabin. The communal lounge kitchen is a great place to catch up with fellow travellers and listen to the forest sounds.

  • Cristina and Mohagine team are incredibly professional and great in every aspect. They are super reliable, incredibly responsive, easy to reach. You won't regret staying at this place. The vibes, the chill and the atmosphere are great.

  • This is probably the remotest AirBnB experience I had. Anja helped in every way to make it a pleasant one. She even sent a couple interns to help with luggage when we arrived on the ferry! The night tour was highlight of my great experience there. Got to see the rare translucent frog guarding it's eggs. The morning tour was a bit too early and I hated to get up at 430am, but that's what it takes to get an amazing experience at Corcovado and make it back in time for the ferry back to Siripe. If I've to go back there again, I'd plan a few days stay to enjoy things at an easier pace.

    Hrishi2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our visit to Drakes Bay! Everyone at Mahogine was wonderful! Even before we arrived they were quick to respond and aid in our travel plans booking our ferry ride there and back as well as our Corcovado tour. There was a nice hangout area where travelers could congregate as well as free drinking water and a full kitchen to use. We’ll definitely stay here again! Thank you! Pura Vida!!!

  • The stay with Anja in the Cabinas Mohagine was exactly what I expected. Good location in the middle of the wild Bahia Drake, beach and village within walking distance. Anja's garden is also quite wild, so it's a great place to spot tons of hummingbirds, capuchin monkeys and other animals. The on-site staff from Costa Rica are hospitable and supportive, which often helps with organizational or travel advice and surroundings. Otherwise clean Cabinas, showers etc. as they are common for Costa Rica. In my opinion the ideal accommodation for a stay in Drake!

    Nico2018-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend Anja's property for anyone staying in Drake Bay. It is gorgeous and rustic and you really feel like you're part of nature when you stay there. Everything is very well-maintained and clean and the staff (and Anja) are incredibly helpful, friendly, and considerate. There are only 7 cabins/rooms and so there is a very intimate and homey feeling to the place. The outdoor sala/kitchen area was a wonderful place to cook, talk to other people, and unwind after whatever adventure we did that day. There are bunches of bananas you can help yourself to and more bunches a bit apart of the kitchen where you can watch monkeys "steal" the bananas. It's a little paradise.

  • Hands down my fiancé and I's favourite airbnb on our entire 2 week trip to Costa Rica. We didn't realize it was a hostel at first but are we ever glad it was. We had guests meet us at the beach when the boat dropped us off and they greeted us with tea and a warm welcome. Emmanuel then came and helped us carry our luggage up a hill to our cabin (which was beautiful by the way). Justin and I both agreed that Emmanuel was a large part of what made our trip to Drake Bay a success. He was over the moon nice, funny and helpful. The airbnb itself was amazing. The cabins were clean and beautiful, the shared bathrooms and showers were never and issue and always clean and fully stocked. The main lounge area where everyone can come together was a highlight. So comfortable and friendly. We wanted to stay another night and Anja let us transfer to another cabin which was again wonderful. This is a place we will come back to. They also helped us book our boat rides and tours with no problems at all. The entire staff was SO nice and I cant thank them enough. Justin and I loved Mohagine!

Rustic house located atop a smooth hill surrounded by a beautiful tropical garden and primary rainforest. Its vantage point offers an amazing sea view and the most spectacular sunset guaranteed. Its location offers a very remote feel. It is ideal for small families or groups of friends. Enjoy cooking meals and socializing while enjoying the view over Caño Island and the neighbouring jungle. Easily accessible. ALL TOURS information provided.
Iguana Surf House offers a unique experience. As it is located away from town and up a hill with no neighbours around, you will be able to enjoy a quiet stay surrounded by luxuriant vegetation. The only undisturbing sounds you will be hearing are the waves from the close-by ocean and the animals: howler monkeys, macaws, toucans, all sorts of songbirds... And if you are lucky enough you may also spot tapirs, coatis and plenty of basiliks, toads and iguanas. Just keep your eyes and ears open! From 5 pm you will get to see some of the most beautiful sunsets ever from our huge wooden terrace provided with hammocks.
  • An amazing view from a deck that you could live on its so beautiful. The house is great for just two or more people, the kitchen is set up for cooking nicely, the bedrooms are comfortable, the bathrooms are what you expect in Costa Rica. Well worth staying here.

  • Samuel is an amazing guy, we went together to surf to an amazing surf spot, great experience ! I totally recommend this place and the view is just amazing, the perfect place in Bahia drake for sure !

    Vincent2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best places i have been to so far. The view is spectacular and Samuel and his Sister Nelly are really helpful and and kind. It is not your place if you are scared of insects or other animals because its right in the jungle and there are plenty of them. We enjoyed it very much and hope to visit this beautiful place again. Pura Vida!

    T.2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Pura Vida is not for the spoiled princes and princesses of this world. It is about not being upset by the manana mentality and about being content with what IS available instead of longing for what is not. It is being with yourself and nature and sink in the goodness and fulfillment of that encounter. If you think you are up for that than Samuels place is the place to be. Spectacular view and an almost sacred spot for reconnecting with your inner realm and with nature itself. Please respect this place as it is and don't spoil it.

    Leonard2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Samuel is very informative of the island and Caño Island, as he also leads snorkeling tours there. This stay has a spectacular view of the ocean, sunset and Caño Island.

    Albert2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Samuel was an amazing host! Two days before our arrival, I had not found time to plan out our activities what so ever! Samuel took care of everything. I also had not figured out the car rental situation so Samuel picked ya up from the airport. More about the house and Bahia Drake. The house is at the top of a hill. At the end of the day the hike up the hill can be daunting BUT 100% worth it. Activities run around 7am-2 or 3pm. When you have spent the day hiking or scuba diving or snorkeling and then walk up to the house and watch the sunset and birds it is amazing! We decided to do one busy day then one rest and wish we had set up the whole trip that way. There is an amazing porch that we spent most of our time rocking in chairs or resting in hammocks. The walk to town and beach are worth it for the bird and insect watching. Also, on the side of the house after a rain has cleared the blue morphos come to warm up. Absolutely beautiful. Samuel emits the Pura Vida mentality. Note to my big city friends... this is a rainforest. Think of it like camping. Do not assume that what you do at home will be a good idea in a rainforest. Easy example is food. Do not leave food out, it will get moist and attract many of the amazing insects of the rainforest. Do your research and be prepared. Your holiday will be amazing! Also, there is a small restaurant very close to the house. We ate there 4 or 5 nights. Delicious! The restaurant is family owned and very friendly. We dove with Osa Divers while we were there. Everyone there was often and went out of there way to help us. There was one day when our plans changed last minute. Osa divers started calling other tours to help us come up with a new plan! We loved every minute we were in Bahía Drake and much of it was due to the house and how helpful Samuel was!!!

  • You will not find a better place than this in drake. Don’t be dumb, you have to book here. Put in the work to make this stay the best time of your life, don’t expect anything, just live in the moment and enjoy the gift you were given when you got confirmation on this stay. I hope you get to me Samuel, he is the best part.

  • We spent three nights in this very clean, comfortable and ideally located accommodation. Jamaica received us very well, picked us up at the exit of the boat, which is very important given the coast to cross with the suitcases! She took the time to advise us on good addresses, and to assist us with pleasure in our reservations. Definitely recommend!

  • Casa Tuanis is a really lovely place to stay, right in the heart of Drake Bay. The room was clean, stylish and comfortable. The host was great about helping me figure out how to get around and what to do to make the most of my time. Overall, it was convenient, comfortable and wonderful!

    Jay2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • I would highlight first of all the wonderful human treatment of Jamaica, helping us in everything. The complete and unpolluted room, and the location very good. In addition, the excursion offer is extensive, competitive in prices and with quality guides. A highly recommended accommodation, no doubt.

    Illán2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Casa Tuanis is in the perfect location for those looking to stay someplace within short walking distance of everything in Agujitas including grocery stores, restaurants, tour meeting spots, and beaches. You'll have everything you need here... a clean comfortable space, AC, great shower with hot/warm/cold water, assistance from Jamaica with setting up tours, taxis, etc., and best of all good vibes! Thanks for everything, Jamaica! ¡Pura Vida!

    Stephanie2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Jamaica banda Álvaro always make us feel like we are among family and they are ready to help out with anything their guests might need or to organize activities. They are also really great people and a great source of information about the area.

  • We had a perfect stay at casa tuanis. It was very cosy, comfortable and clean. Jamaica was extremely helpful and full of information and warmth. Alvaro was lovely, too and always had a cheerful smile. Their love for their dogs and their passion for drake bay makes the stay at casa tuanis even more special

Cabinas Palmera is situated in Rincón San Josesito, bordering on the Corcovado National Park. Experience intense biodiversity at your doorstep-daily sightings of monkeys, macaws and a dizzying array of flowers, plants and creatures endemic to the Osa
Rincón offers visitors a relaxed ambience, plenty of walking trails and local tours in the pristine tropical rainforest. Removed from the hustle and bustle of Drake Bay, you have the beach to yourself. Marvelous sunsets await.
Rincon beach is a very pleasant place.we have about 30 people. the village consists of 4 families. we have a school that only 5 children enjoy this service. the super market is only 15 minutes by taxi or motorcycle. is a remote place in which we are surrounded by many natural beauties.
  • The whole stay at Jonnys was amazing! The Cabins are super nice, big rooms, cozy beds and the location is awesome. You wake up to the beautiful singing of tropical birds and the sounds of waves clashing from the beach. The beach is also really beautiful. The food in the restaurant "Amaya" which is super close to the Cabins has delicious food and they have great vegan and vegetarian options if you ask them. We can highly recommend this place. Jonny is a super friendly and supportive host and the whole staff of this Family business is doing a great job.

    Steffen2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • A huge wow. For everything. Sunsets on the Pacific, scarlet macaws and monkeys around you. The room was big and clean. Johnny and his family were helpful and always smiling. The food is great too. Hard to come back to reality after two days there.

    Camille & Louis2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The stay with Jonny was very, very nice. He took good care of me, from picking up on the beach to organizing the return trip. Jonny made several suggestions for what I could do, completely unobtrusively and in a very friendly way. Unfortunately, I couldn't talk to his family because I don't speak Spanish. But they were also very friendly. The place itself is beautiful. I got tips from Jonny for beautiful beaches and excursions My cabania was very generous. Sockets were everywhere. The bathroom area was also very spacious. Everything was spotless. Internet access was possible in the bar area. Too bad that I only booked 3 nights and extension was not possible. Next time I will definitely stay a whole week. Man and nature are unique there.

    Brigitte2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Nice hut right next to a really fantastic almost lonely beach! We came by car (you definitely need four-wheel drive). From the parking lot you walk about 7-10 minutes on stairs to the accommodation. Everything in the accommodation was clean! Jonny went out of his way to have a nice stay. Took a lot of time to talk to us and give us tips. For us the most beautiful beach we have been on! Gracias Jonny!

    Max2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent attention very attentive in everything

    Douglas2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • It is simply paradise. So certainly the cabinas are very simple, but the cleaning is done every day, they are functional, the meals are great, and the general atmosphere very pleasant. Jonny is very responsive and takes care of the people he receives, he organized excursions to Corcovado park and to Ilsa del Cano, it was great. Finally, the beach and the environment is simply exceptional, the beach is almost deserted, the sunset is magnificent, and the fauna and flora omnipresent: while walking in the cabinas and on the beach we saw Macaws red, a Toucan, lots of monkeys, hummingbirds and even a Tapir a few meters from the accommodation, it was great. I highly recommend anyone looking for adventure and nature lovers.

    Louis2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Without a doubt our best experience in Costa Rica. The truth is that we were thinking of not putting a review so that this beautiful place did not become very popular, but I think it would not be fair. Playa Rincon has become one of our favorite destinations in the world. It is a magical place, one of those few authentic, wild and well-kept places left on the planet. Everything is spectacular. We saw whales, dolphins, monkeys, turtles, tapir, sharks, macaws and endless animals. From the terrace of Jonny's cabin you can see white-faced monkeys playing in the trees and lots of colorful tropical birds. While on the beach we saw hundreds of turtles coming out of their eggs and walking for the first time to the ocean. In addition, almost every night a tapir (giant anteater) visits the area. A true wonder Jonny is the best possible host. He organized all the excursions and made sure we had a perfect stay. There is a bar where you can have beers or delicious cocktails and also a restaurant that takes Jonny's family where they prepare an excellent meal. Anyway, the best of the best. We will definitely return but next time we will stay longer. 200% recommended. I want to thank Jonny and his whole family for their hospitality and for keeping this paradise so clean, so well preserved and so magical. Pure Life!!

    Julio2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We spent four days in Jonny's bungalows with our three children. A real place to relax. The road from Rincon to Bahia Drake, San Josecito is a real adventure! But it is worth taking this on! Jonny has been waiting for us at the gate on the street and accompanies us through the beautiful area to the bungalows. He is very hospitable and warm. The whole area is just paradisiacally beautiful and the people who live there are very friendly. There were hardly any other tourists on site. The bungalow is located a few meters from the sea, surrounded by the jungle. Both create a unique, magical mood. We saw macaws, toucans, monkeys every day and the tapir comes right past our bungalow in the evening. It is a unique, beautiful place in Costa Rica.

  • Henar is a super host, that speaks perfect English. Lovely clean rooms, very close to restaurants and beach. Would definitely recommend.

    Zena2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • I had a very pleasant stay, the room was very clean, spacious and very well located near the center but very quiet. Henar helped me with the tour, gave me good advice and picked me up from the ship when I arrived. I recommend it!

  • I would recommend it :)

    Laura2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • My stay at Osa Tucan was wonderful! Henar was so nice and helpful with everything that I needed that I felt at home. She will arrange tours for you and also give you tips if you want to go around the area on your own. The place is very well located, less than 5 min walk from the beach and next to all shops and restaurants. The room is big, super clean, there is a kitchen, which comes very handy if you stay for more than a few days and there's a nice terrace with nature all around and a hammock to hang out. The best! If I ever come back to Drake Bay, I will for sure return to this place.

    Sophie2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Henar is welcoming. She comes to get us from the boat by car to avoid the climb to her home with the backpacks. The room is extremely spacious. There are 2 fans, hot water and mosquito nets on the windows. The kitchen could be better equipped, it is really basic.

    Eliesel2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay, awesome place with hammocks and Henar is willing to help you

    Chris2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Henar served us super well, helped us book the tours we wanted and was always attentive to our being well! The room is spacious and very comfortable, it was very clean and equipped. The only thing we did not like too much was the kitchen, which is outdoors and was not too comfortable to use. But we definitely recommend staying with her, since the house is also very well located :)

    Nestor2019-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • It is a beautiful place, it has fans for cooling the room, everything is super clean. Big beds super comfortable. And some furniture that helps keeping your stuff at hand. Also you will find a little kitchen for common use with almost anything you need in place: gas kitchen, fridge, coffeemaker and more. Henar always change towels and order the rooms, if you don't want she to get in the room just communicate to her. I found it very safe and nice.

  • Great space. In waking distance of everything. Amazing views of the beach

    Sarah2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Erick's place has an incredible view of Drake Bay with a great hammock to take in all the animals of the village. His dog Baloo was such a great addition. We loved having him pop in whenever we were home. Erick took fantastic care of us. He picked us up at the beach, set us up with two great tours (snorkeling and Corcovado), and recommended a beautiful sunset hike to Playa Cocolitas. His place and Drake Bay overall were the best part of our trip - we also stayed in Manuel Antonio two nights, two in Alajuela, and stopped in Jaco for lunch. I'll be missing this Airbnb everyday till I'm back. So much within walking distance, so many animals and birds, great beaches, delicious and low cost food, and the best people living there. Grocer very close as well. AC in the unit was fantastic.

    Josh2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • This place was unreal. The view from our balcony hammock was incredible, looking out over the gorgeous bay and often seeing scarlet macaws and hundreds of other bird species fly past. Our towels/sheets and garbages were changed every single day! Erick helped us organize all the jungle/snorkel tours we wanted, and made it super easy to do so. And Baloo the resident French Bulldog was such a sweetheart. We were so sad to leave this place today! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy the beauty of the Osa Peninsula.

  • Very nice and cosy room with balcony overlooking the bay

    Anna2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing view that can't be beat. Enjoyed evenings of gently swinging in the hammock on the front porch. Very close to center of town and the beach. After a day of adventuring, loved having a safe little place to come back to that had been tidied with extra care by the maid. Didn't want to leave and would definitely return.

    J2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Pacheco cabin 2 has a beautiful view of the ocean with a legit hammock on the porch. Birds everywhere and we totally lucked out with the weather. We did the day Corcovado trip with his dad Carlos and would HIGHLY recommend doing that tour. We had an amazing time.

    Ivan2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Pacheco cabins are awesome and probably one of the best deals in town. The view is stunning and Erick is super reactive in the exchanged messages. Only thing we did not like was the tour we booked through Pacheco Tours at Corcovado NP: our guide, Alberto, was really not dynamic. He seems to not appreciate his job and was not enthusiastic at all. So we advise the cabins but if you have the opportunity to book the tour with another mean, prefer this option

  • Hotel Bella Vista really lived up to its name! Each morning and evening you get to experience a brilliant view of ocean waters and foliage canopies while eating in their attached restaurant. They were even able to accommodate our vegan / vegetarian diet with some of the best tostones in Costa Rica! The rooms are spacious and clean, had electricity, fans, and a nice shower. The hotel is a couple minutes walk from an incredibly beautiful beach. The hosts were really helpful and friendly. They were even able to make the calls to arrange our tour of Corcovado. Definitely a great place to stay!

    Victoria2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Hotel Bella Vista was wonderful!! The room was really nice and the trip was made even better by the onsite restaurant and the wonderful staff there (Willy and his staff). The food and the views from the restaurant were truly awesome!! I have to come to Costa Rica 22 times now...… and I WILL be back to visit Hotel Bella Vista again!!

  • Olga’s place has everything we are longing for Costa Rica. You have the open ocean view from the dinning area. Walking distance to the jungle trail. As well as the prefect quite rincon beach...the food is amazing! Olga makes the best desert you can find in this country. And we keep ordering the same fish fillet b/c it is just too good to try a different dish... we have a wonderful stay at here. All the stuff are super warm and helpful. They are just like your family. Highly recommend!!!

    Sissia2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had such an amazing time at Olgas place. Her and William made us feel very much at home and even catered for our vegetarian and vegan diets. They were extremely helpful with whatever we needed and nothing was a problem. The accommodation is cosy and comfortable and is located in quite a remote area away from the hustle and bustle of Drake Bay, which is perfect if want to immerse yourself in the nature that completely surrounds you. The mostly deserted beach is just across road, you can take walks into the jungle, horse rides along the beach or simply relax in the hammock. One thing to note is that there are no ATM's or banks that accept foreign cards in Drake Bay so best come prepared with cash for transport etc. This is definitely a gem hidden away in the Osa Peninsula. Can highly recommend!!!

    Susie2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Spartan and welcoming environment, excellent place to isolate yourself from everything, kindness and discretion. We recommend it

    Giulia2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful encounter in Bella Vista, a little corner of paradise lost at the end of the road, 100% family, far from tourist circuits. high quality local cuisine with Olga and Maria who love to cook and please visitors. 4x4 preferably with the rivers to be crossed. Lots of animals nearby, parrots and toucans, tapir, ranas, monkeys ... with a breathtaking view of the sunset at the top of the viewpoint. Please take care of this address so that it remains that of the first days ...

  • Our stay was amazing, the room was very clean, safe, and with an amazing view. The beds were comfy and we slept well. Eric was very nice and welcoming, and helpful with local tips and sharing his passion on Costa Rica. He organized our shuttle to Sierpe to catch the boat to Drake Bay, and he arranged a ride to the local airport at the end of our visit. Eric also organized the tours for us - day trip to Sirena station in Corcovado National Park, a snorkeling tour at Cano Island, and a horseback ride along and in a local river to a sweet waterfall for a swim, all of which were awesome! Please note that there is no ATM in Drake, so it's good to bring cash for things not readily available via debit/credit machine. Overall, a great stay. Highly recommend, and would do it all again in a heartbeat:)

  • This is the best place to visit the Corcovado Park and the surroundings. The communication with Anja was really good since the beginning. I got a tent with a comfy bed and an amazing view. Lot of privacy and surrounded by nature. The tent, bungalow and common areas are extremely clean and there is a lot of attention for the environment. The staff was very helpful and kind and helped me with everything, from the trasport from the airport, breakfast, trips to corcovado and night tour in the surrounding area. Everything was perfect Thank you Anja

  • We are very happy to have discovered this little piece of paradise that is Bahia Drake. Mohagine is a perfect place to put your bag in this little village, it's clean, quiet, green and safe! The tent is very comfortable, and the platform gives a small space of life and storage. It's glamping! All the staff is caring and the joy of life reigns in this place! It was very difficult this morning to leave. Thank you for your welcome.

  • Pacheco Cabins was the perfect place to stay in Bahia Drake. Spotlessly clean (and re-cleaned everyday), possibly the best views in Costa Rica and ideally located for the town, beach and all the activities in the area. Erick was an absolute superstar; arranging everything we wanted to do in the area, honestly recommending which trips would be best considering the weather/ocean visibility etc. and even arranging travel to and from Bahia Drake which was all perfect. Highly recommend at least 3-4 nights here as there is so much to enjoy!! Thanks Erick and Carlos!

  • This place is in the middle of town close to a supermarket and some local restaurants. Basic room which is clean and has airco (much appreciated in Drake Bay!). Jamaica was always very helpful with finding trips or any questions I had.

  • This is a great spot right in the middle of town! The room is sparkling clean and the common areas are a perfect hang out spot after spending a day in Corcovado, the beach, or wherever your adventures took you. The host is friendly and very helpful with local tips and suggestions.

  • Great stay! Jamaica’s a great host, room was comfortable, bathroom clean with hot water, wifi, good location, three cute dogs, highly recommend.

  • Had a lovely stay. Jamaica collected us from the beach, and booked a snorkelling tour for a good price. We did the floating tour with Alvaro which was great fun. Lovely dogs! Jamaica also booked us a taxi for the airport when we left. Air con and shower were good.

  • Tuanis was a perfect host !!! Because we liked him and the place Drake Bay so much, we could spontaneously extend our stay by one night. He advised us on all concerns and wishes and helped us. He had reserved all the activities for us and we were able to comfortably pay for everything via PayPal. Just easy and perfect! Thank you very much for everything Tuanis :)

    Thomas2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • This place is wonderful. It's in the centre of this small village and Alvero (?) was a great Host. He organised our tour the next day, which was great aswell. We can definitely recommend this place.

  • Casa Tuanis was an awesome accommodation at a beautiful place. Jamaika was a very great host. She helped us with our tours and you could always have a little chat with her. Bahia Drake ist definitely a place to be with awesome nature and a lot of great people. We were very lucky to stay there for three nights and we would definitely do it again. Thank you Casa Tuanis for making it so beautiful and easy for us!

    Isabelle2019-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • Casa Tuanis is everything you expect, even more! The location is unbeatable, the cleanliness of the place also. Do not expect so much from a place so far! Jamaica is an excellent hostess, always aware of what we might need. Thank you! And of course I recommend 100% to stay here. They will enjoy it very much!

    Drake Bay , Costa Rica

This is the Costa Rica experience you see on the National Geographic channel. Rainforest, river, and ocean environments can all be enjoyed from this home - a home that is rich in aesthetic and harmonious in feel and existence with the environment.
This is your chance to completely escape the monotonous grind of everyday life and rejuvenate your body and mind with a healthy dose of natural beauty, active adventure, rustic luxury, and cultural authenticity. All five senses will be on full alert here…each one contributing to an overall sense of joy and relaxation. Start your mornings with the sounds of howler monkeys, the sight of tropical sunrises, and the aroma of Costa Rican coffee that would put Starbucks to shame. Fill your days with a plethora of river, ocean, or rainforest adventure – all available directly from your front steps. Finally, wind down the evening watching the flight of white ibis across the sunset over Isla Violin with a cold cervesa or mojito in hand. Sound like paradise to you...we think so too! Our home's location on the Sierpe River – a fully navigable river that flows into the Pacific Ocean – serves as a direct connection to all of the best adventure activities that Costa Rica is known for. Accessible directly from the front steps of the home are 5 kilometers of hiking trails that weave through primary rainforest, wetlands, mangroves, and 3 tropical fruit filled gardens - great for wildlife watching and birding. Feel free to help yourself to the fruit, the resident monkeys certainly do! Four kayaks are stored on-site and are yours to use for exploring the river and its tributaries. Are you a fan of fishing? If so, you’ll be glad to know that some sizable red snapper and snook have been caught from the two riverfront piers. Just want to relax?...then you'll love the lounger and hammock on the deck overlooking the river.. In addition to the on-site activities, it is highly recommended that you arrange for a variety of tour boats to pick you up at the riverfront dock for some of the ocean related activities that have made this area so popular with tourists. Favorites include deep-sea fishing (world class in-shore and off-shore), snorkeling, diving (Costa Rica’s most renowned), wildlife watching in Corcovado National Park, Cano Island hiking, snorkeling, surfing, beach cruises, and dolphin and whale watching. All of these tours can easily be arranged for you by the owner or on your own and are of a very high quality. The home itself is 6 years old and was built in the signature “refined rustic” style of our Canadian builder. Large beamed exotic hardwoods combine with lofted ceilings and ample use of screened in windows to emphasize views of, and harmony with, the natural surroundings. A 300 sq. ft. veranda has rocking chairs, a breakfast nook, and lounger available to relax in while enjoying the amazing views. Despite being very isolated and completely “off the grid”, a very large solar system, on demand hot water, and 3G cell phone will keep you comfortable and connected. Ask about internet options. King and queen sized beds, 500 thread count sheets, and custom built furniture convey a true sense of luxury in the jungle. One of two spacious 3/4 baths with high volume/pressure showers connect directly to first floor bedroom and living area, while the other is located in the upstairs master suite. The kitchen/dining area seats up to 9 and has a 6 burner oven/stove, fridge, and freezer. For more info on logistics, services, transport, etc. consult the "house rules". While the enjoyment of our river retreat provides the ultimate in tranquility, beauty, and seclusion, it must be said that this experience is better geared towards those who are adventurous, independent, and enjoy physical activities. The walk to the cabina from the boat dock is the equivalent of a few blocks and involves a large hill. While the home is very new and provides a wide range of modern comforts and conveniences, you must remember that you are “off the grid” and in the middle of a tropical rainforest. This cabin does not have air conditioning, but 9 overhead fans and a design utilizing cross-ventilation measures keeps the cabina comfortable. In our version of paradise we sacrifice air conditioning for air of the purest condition! This home is not suitable for children aged 2 and under. Please ask about suitability for children aged 3-6 Please note that this home is not located in Drake Bay Proper. It is located on the Sierpe River. Most of the same tours and attractions that can be experienced in Drake Bay can be enjoyed from this home.
Our location allows us amazing access to the unique rainforest, river, and oceanic environments, all from one spectacular home overlooking the Sierpe River!
  • A fabulous place to stay! Beautiful setting, tons of birds, great setting.Hearing the howler monkeys was a bonus! We only wish we could have stayed longer!

  • An incredibly beautiful house located on a hill overlooking the Costa Rican jungle and the river. If you want a bit more of a cabin experience, this is your best bet. This was one of the most beautiful places we’ve been and we had a great time. The staff are very nice and professional, and there are many activities to do. If you want to live pretty with AC and WiFi and all sorts of electronic amenities, this is not the spot for you. But if you want to immerse yourself in the jungle and connect with nature while at the same time living in a beautiful home, book now.

    Everett2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Sierpe del Pacifico is an amazingly beautiful, peaceful, home in the jungle forest, on top of a hill with views for miles. It had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. This house is not for you if you don't like being in nature, animals, insects or being active. But if you like adventure, being immersed in nature, and solitude, this is definitely the place for your next vacation. I would definitely recommend Cassidy's place to friends looking for a unique vacation experience.

    Maryanne2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place to unwind, be in the middle of nature and just be! The effort of getting there makes the experience. Local rep Guillermo was very helpful, gave advice and spoke very well English. Cassidy was of great help and very fast responded. The information was very detailed and set the right expectations. Absolutely one of the highlights of our Costa Rica trip.

    Robert2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Probably the best AirBnB I had the chance to stay at! Cassidy’s place is huge, with everything you need. But the best is clearly the 360 view on the mangrove forest and the Sierpe river from anywhere in the house. We would have liked to stay there much longer than 2 nights. This made our trip to Costa Rica even better than what we expected. Thank you also to Guillermo for his amazing hospitality and friendliness!

    Romy2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay in the heart of the rainforest ... only in the world! Guillermo welcomed us very well, and booked for us a tour to Isla de Caño where we saw dolphins and whales, and for the luckiest turtles in snorkeling ... Lover of nature, this address is for you!

    Geraldine2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • This a wonderful property, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We stayed for five nights and enjoyed every minute of our time here. The views from the property are beautiful and being woken by the howler monkeys each morning was very special. Cassidy provided a lot of information that ensured we were well prepared for our stay and were able to enjoy the experience to the full. The tour guides she recommended were excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the area. If you want to see the Osa Peninsula as it really is and truly experience living in the rainforest, this is the place for you.

    Chris2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Remarkable location on the edge of the Osa Peninsula. It’s a nature lovers paradise. The house is beautiful and remote. Exactly what we wanted.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Bella Vista. We loved the location being away from Drake Bay and it was well worth the trek out there. The hosts were exceptionally kind and accommodating and the food (and view!) at the restaurant was incredible. We look forward to coming back again soon!

  • This place was amazing. The property was terrific. House was clean and had everything we needed. Host was fast at responding. He sent us a long list of good things to do including fun free adventures. His friend works at the property next door so easy access if you need anything. And he was waiting for us when we arrived. The guy next door was a very nice older gentleman who gave us a boat ride through the mangroves for a crazy cheap price. We wanted to stay even longer but the place was already booked. Definitely worth more then the price. Highly recommend and I'll be back.

    Paul2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is very comfortable. It has everything you need for a pleasant family stay. With a beautiful view, facing the sea. The pet always accompanied us: a bat. Adrian was very attentive. We would love to come back soon.

  • A perfect place to get away from it all. It’s in a beautiful setting with gorgeous views of Golfo Dulce from the front yard. It has a full kitchen setup too. Colin provides things to do and helpful tips.

  • We really enjoyed our 1 week stay at the cabin which is a great place for nature lovers! Great value with beautiful views of the bay. Colin was a great host, providing us with local tips via email. Thank you!

    Mia2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • We spent some great days in Colin's fisherman's hut. We had to get used to the character of this simple hut, which had a few other animal roommates with their habits. Anyone who knows Costa Rica and spends a lot of time in simple huts knows that direct contact is sometimes less of an everyday occurrence for animals of all kinds. You should definitely be prepared for that in Colin's hut. To switch off, the place is perfect, because you have absolutely no reception and can wonderfully dedicated to the simplicity of life. The cottage is spacious and is equipped with everything you need. Toilet and shower work very well. The beds are equipped with Mosikotnetzen, the kitchen has 2 gas cookers, rice cooker, blender, coffee maker, cutlery, pots, plates, fridge ... There is even a washing machine. Everything you need to feed yourself. We rented kayaks (for a fee) and spent a great time on the water, with its secluded beaches, mangroves and rivers. Often we sat on the terrace and enjoyed the beautiful view of the water and watched all the animals in the trees. If you have a car, you can visit Puerto Jiménez or the beaches along the Golfo Dulce or the Osa Peninsula. 4x4 is recommended, if you want to make excursions in the side streets. Possibly. Be sure to consider the rainy season and water levels of the rivers. - Thanks again Colin for sharing your wonderful and unique place with us!

Rincon is surrounded by lush green hills covered by tropical rainforest on one side, and mangrove forest towards the coast. Meanwhile, the Rincon river baths its southern part, inviting visitors to grab a kayak to explore the mirror-like waters of the gulf, home of dolphins and humpback whales.
  • Really Nice play to stay. I recommand this place and Luis and his family were really Nice.

    Audrey2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • It is one of the best places I have stayed in recent years, for its value for money. The place is unbeatable if what you are looking for is a deep rest away from the noise of the city. The garden is very spacious, very beautiful and at the foot of the bay. The cabins are made with very good taste and very clean and tidy. It is located just before the turnoff to Drake Bay so it is worth staying if you have been driving from afar and passing through, although I must admit that when I arrived at Drake Bay I returned because Chontal is a special place. The only bad thing is the internet connection but I'm not sure if that really negative. 100% recommendable

    Paul2019-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed one night at Chontal, in a small little hut for 2. It's a kind of campsite on the edge of a very peaceful maritime gulf. Far from tourist centers, very nice place. We really enjoyed our small cabin, comfortable and neat, and swimming in the gulf. Note: near the main road, slightly noisy.

    Marine2019-04-18T00:00:00Z

    Randy2019-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • El Chontal Ecolodge has everything we came to Costa Rica for: it was low-key, quiet and peaceful, right on the coast but also next to the thick jungle, not touristy (all the people we met while staying there were Costa Ricans themselves), great home-cooked meals and near the city but not directly in it. We took the kayaks out at least once a day to paddle around the beautiful golfo. The only downside was the neighbors did some early morning weed whacking on our last day (6am!). Otherwise, an absolutely perfect experience. We never met Luis but really enjoyed his sweet family.

    Carla2018-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place, with the location at the top of the bay. The grounds were lovely, very green and beautiful trees and plants. The cabin was basic, but very comfortable with a great porch to hang out on. You can fully enjoy your privacy, but are also welcomed by the famliy, with helpn and information whenever you need it. We really enjoyed the dolphin watching with Jorge and David!

    Rosanne2018-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Chontal is one of those very extraordinary places which is what makes Airbnb special. The definition of eco lodge and a family run place truly comes to light here. And to top it all David works in animal conservation so his wealth of knowledge of the area and it’s wildlife will definitely make your stay well worth it.

    Adhil2018-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • I really recommend this accommodation. It's a wonderful place with great atmosphere, and clean. There is also access to the Golfo Dulce. Cabinas are well equipped. The family is nice, son of the owners speaks very well English. You are in the middle od nature. In September there must be amazing whale watching in the bay. The only small minus is the road nearby, but without it the connection to Puerto Jimenez would be very bad. 5 stars :)

  • Osvaldo and Yos, and everyone who works here is very warm, and they will make you feel part of the team. The food they prepare is very good and it should be noted that the ingredients are the farm's own production. The location is to live a jungle experience, we could hear the congo in the morning, the various birds, insects, and lots of native vegetation. They must go for a walk to the waterfall to appreciate the primary forest and enjoy a good bath. You can take a walk on your own to Caletas beach, San Josecito beach and to Rincon, and then they coordinate a taxi back to the farm. There are tours that they organize for you either in the neighboring farms (Naguala or El Sendero de la Danta), highly recommended to avoid the high prices of the Corcovado Park and also avoid large crowds of tourists. A particularity of the Small House project is the use of renewable energy and respect for nature. Welcome to the jungle!

  • Places of magical permaculture! Little paradise on earth of beauty and biodiversity! Yos and Osvaldo are fantastic hosts who take the time to share their knowledge about plants and nature. The routes with the local guide that Osvaldo recommended us a show. Highly recommended Very healthy everything;).

  • Beautiful place in the countryside far from tourist sites. a real jungle experience day and night. the farm is very well maintained, the food is delicious. and the reception is perfect. the cabin is rustic but perfect to live an authentic stay with the sounds of birds and monkeys (fear of spiders refrain ...) the walks and swimming are beautiful; Many thanks to Yos and Osvaldo for their kindness and availability. I recommend

    Isabelle2019-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • The ecofarm is a very special place to stay. If you are looking for simple and affordable lodging so you can experience life on the Osa Peninsula, this is the place for you. Your cabin comes equipped with solar energy for lighting, a cold water shower (which is the only water you will want to experience in the heat/humidity) and beds/bedding. There is also a hammock for lounging. Be aware it is very basic so you get a really enjoyable taste of real life down there. We loved every bit of it, but I also understand that some people need more from their lodging. Yos and the team will let you be involved as much as you want to be involved with life on the farm. The cabin is also far enough away that you can keep to yourself and go on your own hikes or adventures. But honestly, I would let Yos arrange it for you because she really knows her way around and knows the local taxi drivers and tour guides. She is also very knowledgeable and passionate about life on the peninsula, so I suggest asking her to take you on a hike or show you around the farm. Very honestly, we thought our hike with Yos and the forest around the farm was more interesting than our tour through the National Park, although I still suggest that tour because you get a chance to see lots of animals. My 9 year old son said the farm was his favorite, and he got to do things like make chocolate from cacao seeds and bread in the really cool brick oven stove. Also, if you want to save on money, Yos can direct you on how to take busses and water taxis from San José. We had an issue with our 4wd rental, and ended up with an interesting 7 hour Uber drive to the farm. On our way back to San José, we followed the directions Yos gave us, and it was less than $60 for our family of 3 to get back, which is so much less than renting a car (that you won’t really need at the farm) or paying someone to drive you down there. We will definitely stay at the farm again when we make it back down there.

    Holly2019-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 4 nights in Finca d'Osvaldo and Yos. A really great stay! Yos is an excellent cook. Both are very attentive with their guests they will help you during your stay in Bahia Drake. Great communication with WhatsApp, no surprise really we were delighted to get to know them and spend those few nights on their farm. It's comfortable, wild and authentic at the same time. A real joy.

The room has windows on each side of the house so you can really get a true rainforest experience. With a 5 minute walk to the river, you can cool off easily on a hot day. Enjoy early morning yoga and meditation with Trista on the balcony.
We live on the edge of the rainforest right up the road from the river. Cada Brisa Tropical is about 3 kilometers from Drake town Center. We only have a few neighbors so it is always peaceful and full of tropical birds and sometimes monkeys and other animals come visit our property.
  • Trista and her husband were very nice and welcoming. Trista was very helpful, she helped us for the different activities we wanted to do, she let us use her washing machine and let us stay a bit longer before leaving! A lovely home and family, our stay was very peaceful!

    Coralie2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Trista's house allows us to say that the essential in life are the people with whom we live. Material things do not matter and this parenthesis with Trista and his family does a lot of good. Trista has been very available to us!

  • My stay at Trista’s Airbnb was great. It is a very simple accomodation, don’t expect a super clean and luxury room. But it’s a great place for the perfect jungle experience. The room is on the first floor and very open, so you can hear the whole jungle. Especially at night, this is really great. It felt like sleeping completely outside and I felt totally energised when I woke up. Mosquitos haven’t been a problem. Trista also recommended and booked a day trip to the Corcovado National Park for me. Thanks a lot, Trista!

    Mario2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Trista was an extremely accommodating and kind host. The room is as described, “breezy.” The location is just outside of town limits which suited us perfectly. I would stay here again.

    Todd2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice hosts in a peaceful area, simple but clean house, great little terrace, authentic family athmosphere. We enjoyed our stay very much!

    Mária2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great home in the forest just out of the town. The hosts are so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend this place!

    Rory2019-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Trista’s place is about a 30 minute walk from the main town. It is quirky and rustic with a huge attic / first floor room which I loved. Tiny birds flew in in the morning and there is a hammock on a sort of outside (covered) platform with amazing views. Trista and her partner were very kind hosts. Trista cheerfully ordered taxis for us when we couldn’t face the walk back - there was a LOT of rain! ( we went in the rainy season). She also let us use her twin tub - very versatile- and cooked us really delicious breakfasts. If you are looking for the simple life in the middle of nature and enjoy walking this is a great place to go!

  • We had a wonderful time at Drake Bay with the help of our host ! He explained to us what activites we could do, the good restaurants to go, good supermarkets... He picked us at the boat and got us to the house, he transported us to our tours, was making sure that we were ok everyday. We had the whole second floor of the house, with a little balcony that gives directly in the jungle. We had some nice time sitting there, watching the biodiversity, listening to birds before going out to explore Corvocado (Sirena) and Cano Island. We also did a night tour that was really awesome. We HIGHLY recommend this place if you want a great time in Drake Bay :) Thanks again for the great 3 days

  • Gringo is a fantastic host who does so much to ensure a great experience in Drake Bay. He met us off the boat; arranged our tours for us and took us to the meeting place for them; our cabin was kept clean with fresh sheets and towels; fresh drinking water was supplied daily; and he got us back to the beach when we were leaving. He and Sonia went out of their way to make us welcome.

    Sheena2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful! I would give the Tico-Gringo cabins more than 5 stars if I could. The cabins are located in a peaceful setting, with many towering tropical plants and flowering bushes. Sitting on the balcony, I saw so many colourful butterflies and birds, including toucans and parrots, as well as little white-faced monkeys. Gringo even puts fruit out in front of one of the cabins to attract the birds for you. The location is great, with around a ten-minute walk to the beach and restaurants, and a five-minute walk to the nearest market. The rooms in the cabins are large, bright and clean, with well-equipped kitchens. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly all the time. Best of all are the hosts, Sonia and Yeiner (known as Gringo). They live on the property so are always there to help you. They are generous, kind and friendly. Sonia keeps your room clean, replacing towels and bedding regularly. Watch for her artistic touches. Gringo will help you organize tours, recommend restaurants and suggest hikes that are not so well known. They make sure you always have a big container of fresh drinking water. Staying at Tico-Gringo made my vacation extra special, and I would definitely stay there again.

    Kenny2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Yeiner's place is truly magical and we are so happy we stayed here! The cabin is comfortable and spotlessly clean. It's a perfect place to stay if you want something a little more private because it's in a pretty quiet hollow down a hill, but it's only a ten or fifteen minute walk to the beach the restaurants and shops town. It was great to have the little kitchen and fridge to make coffee in the morning, which we drank on the balcony watching amazing tropical birds eat the bananas that Yeiner left out! Sonia helped us book tours to Corcovado and to Isla del Caño, and Yeiner walked us to the tour operators in the mornings. We can't recommend this place enough! Yeiner and Sonia are amazing hosts and really friendly, and we are so glad we stayed here!

    Abby2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for a wonderful week. Great location, just a very short walk from the town centre. Quiet and surrounded by greenery - great opportunity to see stars at night. Smart accommodation that is well looked after, very clean with a fully equipped kitchen. Gringo and Sonia were the perfect hosts, providing us with tour information, filtered water, laundry and reserving the return boat trip. Gringo kindly picked us up and dropped us off in his cool 4x4 buggy and even drove us to our early tours to Cano Island and Sirena. Highly recommended to stay here while in Drake Bay.

  • Beautiful accommodation, surrounded by nature, highlighted the permanent attention of the hosts, always available and taking care of every detail, very nice accommodation, clean and with very nice details, highly recommended

    Nicolas2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Yeiner and Sonia are very nice people who are willing to help you with everything. Their place is a little bit up on the hill but Yeiner brings you when you need to be somewhere which is very kind. Take a flashlight though if you want to go out at night, it is very dark (and therefore nice). Yeiner arranged a nice tour to Sirena ranger station for us and Sonia had cleaned the apartment and done our dishes even during our stay. It was lovely.

  • Had a wonderful experience at Luz Maria’s bnb. Everything was just as described and it was so easy to get around from this location. The beach is a 5 minute walk and there are lots of options to eat and drink nearby. I was also pleasantly surprised that coffee and breakfast were available to me each morning. Eduardo was also gracious enough to pick me up from the ferry on arrival and arrange a taxi for my departure. The accommodations are simple but I would definitely stay here again in the future. I agree with a previous reviewer that speaking Spanish is helpful if you plan on staying here. Thank you Luz María, Eduardo and familia for your hospitality!

Private, 2013 built cabina, fully equipped with kitchen and all amenities needed for self sufficiency. Hot water throughout, free wifi, covered porch, grassy yard and steps to a nice sand beach with boogey boarding waves, 20 minute walk to town. Fresh-water creek perfect for rinsing off salt water and safe for small children to splash around and enjoy.
Private, 2013 built cabin with covered porch and sunset view of the Pacific. Hot water shower, full kitchen including outdoor, wood burning bbq. Walking distance to the town of Agujitas (Drake Bay), wild jungle-wilderness behind, ocean in front and (if needed), English speaking owners are close by.
National Geographic has called this region "the most biologically intense area in the world". The Osa Peninsula is located in the southern, sub-tropical Costa Rica and is still somewhat wild with gravel 'roads', occasional power outages and amazing flora and fauna. The jungle comes down a high ridge of wilderness to meet the warm, blue waters of the Pacific ocean. It would be the typical tropical paradise in most story books, the sun glitters off of the soft ocean waves and the jungle teems with wildlife and tropical birds. It is humid and hot but we are very lucky in that there is generally a good breeze coming off the ocean at our site all day.
  • We can’t say enough good things about our stay at La Joyita. The cabin was beautiful and right on the beach. Every night we strolled down to witness the most beautiful sunsets. The only thing that could rival the location is the help and hospitality of Peter and his daughter Alexis. Alexis helped us arrange everything from a fishing trip to scuba lessons. She was so prompt and answered us no matter what we threw at her. Peter gave us our privacy but was always there when we needed him and helped us with everything from taxis to laundry. If we make it back to Drake Bay we will be sure to stay with them again.

    Tom2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • La Joyita is absolutely delightful! And Peter is the ideal host! Ahead of the trip Alexis was incredibly helpful in organizing our stay, and while we there Peter was delightfully present and always looking out for us. This small comfortable cabina is perfectly located for privacy, beach access, pick up & drop off for numerous boat trips, and a comfortable 20 minute mostly beach walk to “town”. Drake Bay is an out-of-the-way gem , and while there are tourists around, it’s easy to find isolated adventures, both on beaches and along rainforest trails. While the group trips to Cano Island, La Serena , and Los pedrillos were great and full of wonderful plants, marine life, land animals, & exotic birds, our favorite activity was walking the forested trail south towards Corcovado, past beautiful little beaches and rivers. La Tortuga restaurant (closest one walking towards town) was delicious and reasonably priced. We loved it here, and are looking forward to returning! Thanks Peter & Alexis for being such great hosts!

    Terry2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location, perhaps the best in the bay. Between the sea and the house there is a fresh water flow to "desalt" and cool down. It is a little paradise. Extremely friendly and helpful hosts. Many valuable tips. Better to have a car to get to the place. A light breeze always blows through the beach.

    Achim & Bettina2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • Magnificent welcome at Peter and Karin's place in a seaside location a little away from Bahia Drake with direct access to the beach. They helped us organize our activities in this magnificent region. We highly recommend this place!

    Renaud2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Alexis is amazing! I’ve never felt that I had my own travel agent from an Airbnb host! She coordinated everything for us and went above an beyond for everything! The space is a very cute cabin in the woods with the most beautiful sunset! I would 100% stay here again and recommend to everyone! Do not hesitate this is the place to be!!

  • This is a very rustic cabina and is adorable! It has great kitchen amenities and a wonderful fridge and stove. Beer was nice and cold! It was lovely to have coffee, cold beer, some amenities in the fridge, sugar, spices etc. provided. The bedroom was spotless and very cosy and cute. There were lots of fans to keep the ocean breeze moving at night time and during the day. Alexis, Pete’s daughter, was very informative and able to help us make plans around the area. We loved Drake Bay and the beach out front with the ”private” little fresh water river pool at the ocean space.

  • This was a gem in Drake Bay Area! It was a wonderful home to stay in, and Mayra was a great host, helping us plan a last minute horseback riding trip down to the beach. Would recommend!!

    Kristin2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely garden! Window issue mentioned in other reviews was not an issue for us, there were practically no bugs and there was a way to close doors to avoid the bugs that there were. Aside from hammock, they could use a comfortable chair but other than that we loved the area the garden and staying at this house!!

    Willemijn2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Super nice little house! Nothing negative to say about the accommodation! But the location is really not what we thought .... extremely far from everything, nothing to do in the surroundings, everything is much more expensive than elsewhere in costa rica

    Mathieu2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • We have stayed in 5 places in Costa Rica so far and this was by far the best. Mayra was very helpful with arranging day trips and had us driven to and from everything. The place is great! We spent several days in the hammocks reading, watching the birds and butterflies, and getting the occasional visit from Drake the cat and the puppy. Mayra has many plants labeled in the garden and a printed and laminated field guide. It was like staying IN a botanical garden. Not all of the windows close all the way so we were conscious of keeping the lights to a minimum after dark. But that is all part of Costa Rica and being in nature. The kitchen was great and had everything we needed to cook all of our meals. I will definitely stay here again if I am ever lucky enough to visit again.

    Ashleigh2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Mayra's place was a bliss! For starters, they organized everything from the boat bringing us from Sierpe to Drake Bay over the drive up to the place, everything went just great. The house itself is super clean and had a well organized kitchen with everything we could ask for. They also provided towels and came by to see if we needed anything. The garden was beautiful and you can tell that they all put a lot of love and effort into this place. We could see some birds and butterflys around the garden and hear different birds, which I loved. I would've loved to stay longer and I would recommend this place to anybody! Great value for your money for sure!

    Babette2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house. Clean and has all the amenities needed for a wonderful stay. Mayra and Emmanuel are welcoming and lovely. We took the canopy tour with Emmanuel and had great fun and saw a couple of toucans up in the tree tops :) only difficulty is the rugged roads to access this location. 4x4 and google gps permitted us to access, however not totally accurate. We found it quite difficult. However, we are very happy with our stay, especially laying in the hamocs in front of the house watching exotics birds flying by in the afternoon, priceless. Thanks again!

    Mathieu2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Place is beautiful. You got enough space everywhere and you're surrounded by nature. Mayra was super kind and took care of the bookings of the trips!

    Moritz2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Mayra is a fantastic hostess and her house, which is wonderfully secluded, is a little dream! Mayra was always responsive, helped us wherever needed, and made our stay special. In the garden you can see an incredible number of animals and plants, the house is super clean and equipped with everything you could need. We are very happy and hope to one day be guests of Mayra again. We can heartily recommend a stay with her!

Casa Claro del Bosque is located a few steps from the beach, in Las Caletas area of Drake Bay, away from the main town (~4 km) known as Agujitas. Las Caletas area is magic and mystic, where miles of solitary pristine beaches and rainforest meet to make a delightful relaxing place to explore and live nature. This home suits those who want to reconnect with nature, adventure-minded, outdoors seekers, nature lovers, and those who look for a remote vacation spot, without crowded beaches.
At Casa Claro del Bosque, you will be part of the forest, isolated from the daily rush of city life. No noisy bars, shopping malls, crowded roads, just the sounds of the ocean and the forest. Casa Claro del Bosque has two floors and three bedrooms. The first floor has a bedroom with two twin beds, the main full bathroom, the dining room and living areas along with the kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped; including a gas stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, blender, and cooking utensils. There is also an outside shower to rise from ocean water and corridors with hammocks and daybeds to relax and enjoy the surrounding forest. The second floor has two bedrooms with balconies with a view to the forest. There is a single and a double bed in each room; both rooms share a half bathroom. The house is open-ventilated which allows the ocean breeze to cool it, when there is no breeze, the ceiling fans will help to keep a cool temperature. But remember we are in the rainforest, which is humid by nature!!. A host will be there to help and assist with questions during your stay.
Las Caletas areas "Coves", where the forest meets the ocean, is a unique area in Drake bay. Little coves, small beaches, fresh water river, wildlife encounter, all together makes this area a nature paradise.
  • If you are looking for a unique and memorable experience in a more remote area of Costa Rica - this is it! Our experience staying at Familia Riba de La Ossa’s place absolutely exceeded expectations. The beach house is incredible. Be prepared for open windows (no glass) and enjoy the beautiful tranquility of the tropical rainforest which is located very close to the beautiful beaches. Its remote location means you need to make sure you load up on groceries and supplies as stores and other amenities are not close by but that’s what makes this location so special. It is best designed for those that love to walk as their beautiful place is located along the coastal path that stretches for miles where you can explore beautiful beaches and the dense tropical rainforest: home of white-faced monkeys and many other wildlife. Their hospitality is outstanding and so helpful with local tips. Be sure to get to Corcovado National Park and don’t miss out on the zip lining that can all be arranged by this wonderful host. You do not need a car here as the roads are pretty rough but a driver can be arranged for transport from the airport and in and out of Drake Bay. Can’t say enough about our stay here.

    Jennifer2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • This was one of the most incredible stays in my AirBnB experience. Pablo and his wife are extremely generous and accommodating. Their home is thoughtfully designed and the experience is unparalleled. They also took time out of their day to walk us to the Soda (local eatery), arrange boat transportation from / to Sierpe, and booked a guided tour of Corcovado National Park. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend the experience.

    Travis2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • It was our second time in this wonderful house and luckily nothing has changed! I can confirm my rating from January 2019 and it was a wonderful stay with Pablo, Lucia and Sofia!

    Sylvia2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location. With miles of beautiful deserted beaches. A true paradise away from it all. We took the speed boat from Sierpe which offered lovely views and took about two hours. The hosts were wonderful. They met us on the beach and helped us to depart the same way. This part of our trip has been truly special. Thank you x

  • Nice secluded house at the end of a dirt road 3 kilometres from Las Planes at playa Caletta. The house is fabulous and the family is so helpful. The house is sorrounded by lots of animals. And some of them also gets in to the house that is an open and naturally ventilated house. We went on a tapir trip (tapir’s trail, afternoon and night walk) nearby the house, in which a wonderful dinner was included. We saw all the wished animals. Is was a fabulous trip. The trail along the coast is a wonderful trekking. We went to the house in a 4x4 Toyota Raw 4. From Drake it demands a bigger 4x4 or very dry weather conditions. It almost couldn’t manage the bumpy roads but the small rivers was no problem. There is a new build bridge over the Drake river. You turn left when you come to a y-cross with a turtle sign, some kilometres before you approach Bahia Drake. Thanks Pablo, Lucia and Sofia. /the danish family.

  • You can expect a beautiful home, with a lovely short walk to the beach. An immersion into life in the jungle: -which includes an occasional frog, crab or insect visitor -listening to the waves crash at night -being apart of the jungle, and not separated from it. It's a place to slow down, observe, and relax.

    Jenny2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • One of the most remote beach spots in Costa Rica. You really at one with the rain forest here. Beautiful and unique house a minute from a deserted beach. Don’t come if you need to be close to amenities. It’s just you and nature here! Though there’s a nice soda close by if you don’t want to cook. Would recommend the boat rather than driving but you will need to get your provisions in Palmar as there is a limited supply in Drake. Would highly recommend the canoe trip up Rio Clara river with Ricardo who runs the turtle hatching centre. Walk 40 minutes along the hiking path until you reach the river. Cross the river in the boat taxi and you will find the place. It’s an amazing experience entering the rain forest by boat. Also the night tour with Nativos Corcovado was excellent and diving with Cano divers. Ana is the best dive master we have met. They will pick you up from a nearby beach.

A very special house for the more adventurous travelers. A secluded property with an animal and bird filled jungle behind and ocean and Coastal views in front. Sunsets right from the porch April through August. Rarely a day goes by that we don't see monkeys in our trees. We are a bird watchers paradise too. Scarlett macaws, toucans, hummingbirds and 100's of migrating birds are right here as well as butterflies and frogs. Built 200 feet above the beach with a beautiful trail down.
Seaclusion House, surrounded by jungle and sea. Wake up to bird calls and howler monkey roars. Fall asleep to frog song and the sound of the waves hitting the rocks below. We look forward to sharing our piece of heaven on earth with you.
Besides the amazing views from the house, we live in the most biologically diverse area on the planet. Corcovado National Park is virtually in our backyard. We have seen more animals right on our property than we have seen on guided hikes in the park. We even had a very special 3 months that a tapir visited us every morning at dawn. August and September are also the height of whale season and we often see mama humpback whales teaching their babies to breach right from our porch. It is truly paradise here and we can't wait to share it with you.
  • We LOVED our stay at Kimberly and Andre’s! They are incredibly accommodating hosts and go above and beyond to make your stay amazing. Quick to respond, a beautiful deck to bird watch and lounge on, and all the amenities you need.

  • This is the kind of place you will never want to leave again. You wake up to the sound of the birds and the ocean, go to bed listening to the jungles and the waves. At breakfast on the terrace Aras, Toucans, Pelicans and Eagles would fly by. Relaxing in one of the hangmats watching the sea, you might turn around to see what that noise was and see a big lizard getting the shock of his life seeing you. 😊 Hummingbirds, butterflies, really cute geckos are at home around the house. And we felt at home right away too. We were welcomed so warmly by Kim and Andre and with their open hearts they really made our trip extra memorable. From giving us privacy to giving us tips and recipes for baking to organizing tours for us (Dolphin and Whale watching, National Parc, Diving (seeing every animal I can think of!)), they really did everything to make our stay into a lasting experience of pura vida. We will definitely visit Drake Bay again and know exactly where to stay.

  • We had a very good time in Seaclusion house. Kim and Andre went out of their way to help us and make us feel welcome. They booked all our excursions for us (with very good guides) and gave us rides into town. The house is very spacious and has the best view we have enjoyed in all Costa Rica (and we have been to many places with great views in this country). You can watch the birds from your porch, there is a feeder right in front. The last day we enjoyed a concert by three Toucans :)) There are 2 lovely dogs, Thor and Riley, who will visit, if you let them. The road up to the property is quite steep and bumpy, as in most places in Costa Rica, but the road will be repaired. And Andre can help you driving up and down if you want. You need a 4x4 to get to Drake Bay and preferably one with a high clearance. For the biggest river crossing there is now a bridge via a small detour. I highly recommend this place for a visit in Drake Bay. We loved it and gladly will be back if we return to Costa Rica.

  • Highly recommend this amazing place, with striking beauty, wildlife, seclusion and wonderful hospitality. You can do no better than this, and you will be glad you booked with Kim and Andre, they were fabulous. Such a magnificent location, thoughtful touches and access to many tour options. Whatever your interests, you can be assures of a wonderful experience, pura vida!

  • Were were a family of 4 visiting Costa Rica for the first time and feel so lucky to have landed in the loving magical home of Kim and Andre. The Seaclusion House was a dream come true. Set in the rainforest among monkeys, scarlet macaws, hummingbirds, butterflies, ginger flowers and a vast array of electrifying life. Some of the best memories of our whole trip were the peaceful mornings lounging on the veranda overlooking the pacific ocean gazing out for as far as the eye can see and listening to song of the forest - so healing to our nervous systems and over stimulated city brains. Kim and Andre were perfect hosts providing us with complete privacy yet 110% available for any of our questions or needs. They organized fantastic tours with amazing guides shuttling us to and from and often offering to pick us up or take us to town when we were out and about on our own. Kim and Andre know Drake Bay intimately, having spent time there consistently for over 30years. They have numerous connections throughout the peninsula which made them a great resource when we wanted to explore the greater peninsula and beyond, up into the mountains. The house has 360 degrees of open screened windows allowing the forest breeze and lush forest song to embrace you. A large shower with warm water (if needed), fully functional kitchen, lots of towels and several fans both inside and outside to keep you cool. Unless you have a car a degree of fitness is required to walk either the trail down to the beach or the dirt road, both of which we did daily for the exercise and to enjoy the forest. We would definitely stay here again without question. Thank you Kim and Andre for a memorable magical adventure.

  • Absolute Magic! Kimberly's & Andre's place is an amazing jungle and ocean retreat! The hike down the jungle trail to the secluded beach is an awesome adventure in and of itself! The beach is beautiful and peaceful with a fresh water lagoon nearby. The location is perfect with access to the town (Agujitas), which is the place you will meet for tours to Corcovado and Caño Island, etc., yet perched up high above the hustle and bustle with unparalleled views of the ocean and surrounding jungle! You can observe the animals and birds during hikes around the property or from the comfort of the rocking chairs and hammock on the inviting covered front porch. I was captivated and mesmerized by the energy from the trees! The entire experience will leave you feeling refreshed and revitalized! Kim and Andre are incredible hosts from start to finish. Communication was smooth and efficient throughout the process of booking, organizing transfers, planning tours, etc. Most of all, their generous hospitality will make you feel like you are more than just "another tourist" ... you will feel right at home with these new friends!

  • Kimberly and Andre are amazing hosts! Their home has a breathtaking view (from both the inside and outside hammock - they have both!) and everything you need, from a comfy bed to plenty of clean linens/towels/cooking supplies, washing machine & clothesline, etc. The privacy and serenity of this wonderful place, surrounded by wildlife and ocean, is incredible, as is their hospitality. There is a short, fairly steep, lush rainforest trail down to the road, with a gorgeous lookout halfway down, and beaches in either direction (the one to the right with lagoon is amazing!) and town not too far down the road. Andre was always happy to give us rides when he was going or coming back from work, and offered convenient, affordable taxi service to/from Bahía Drake airport, stopping in town for us so we could pick up groceries! They also arranged 2 tours for us (Corcovado/Sirena hike) and Caño Island snorkeling) which were great, and helped us get to the amazing trail to Cocolito and other beautiful beaches - worth a full day of self-guided exploration and beach...don’t miss this trail! They even shared fresh delicious catch with us from their successful fishing trip one day, as well as fruit and herbs from their garden! And if you like pets as much as we do, you can play with their sweet, friendly dog and puppy, and sweet kitty too. Can’t say enough good things about these awesome hosts and Seaclusion...pura vida!

  • This is a very beautiful place with a amazing view on the sea. You can watch red mascaws and several other birds pass by the veranda. The bush close by is also really impressing. The next beach is in walking distance (approx. 10 minutes) and really nice. Drake Bay was our favourite place in whole Costa Rica. Kimberly and Andre are the best hosts we could imagine. They are very friendly and helpful and they offer great advices because they really know the place and the local people. We would come back at any time (if possible) and can highly recommend this place! Thanky so much for those 6 very special days at Drake Bay!

  • Beautiful place Rude hut, which makes its charm We did not really miss anything It was more than we had hoped The people of the neighborhood very friendly and always ready to help us for information Incredible amount of bird species Only downside was that the place for access to a wifi was not at the rendezvous so better protect yourself from an internet package when needed. Tranquility assured, we slept like babies We went from discovery to discovery every day I recommend this place Thanks again for everything Esteban

    Micheline2019-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • This place is awesome! We planned to only stay for a few days but ended up paying Esteban to stay another week. We went fishing everyday on the canoe and caught a huge fish right outside his house! The water gets deep really fast so it doesn’t really have a shore. There’s a bar next door that plays pretty loud music, but once you get used to it it’s not that bad. We saw toucans and lizards. There’s coconut trees in the front yard where we cut down coconuts from and enjoyed fresh coconut water each day. Esteban is super friendly and is easy to get ahold of. He does like to come by and use his boat every now and then. There are buses that come by everyday that can take you to puerto jimenez to get groceries and go to the bank. We took the 7 hour bus ride from San José and it was a gorgeous drive and didn’t feel like 7 hours at all! It was nice to get away from our phoned with no WiFi and limited service. It’s definitely the best Airbnb in the area(we walked past the others).

    Kelsey2018-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • Esteban was very attentive and gave us all the facilities to explore the Golfo Dulce. I would definitely stay at your house again

    Alfredo2018-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had s memorable night at this Fisherman house on the edge of the water. You need to be prepared for a very basic place but saying that it is also very beautiful and you feel quite privileged to be sitting on the edge of the water watching the birds.

    Sarah2018-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Esteban’s place is a diamond in the rough! Such an amazing secluded place. We had such a great time exploring and driving to the National Parks. We fished from the beach not 20ft from the door. Was so peaceful and relaxing and to start our trip off here. What a great way to really jump into to the Pura Vida!! Thanks Esteban!

    Brett2018-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Esteban. He was there to kindly welcome us. The view of Golfo Dulce is superb. There is everything you need in the cabin. We did not use the boat but it was at our disposal. It is truly a unique place to sleep. Thank you Esteban we will return with pleasure!

  • Location is great! Simple but you've got everything. We found very romantic in a private little house on the water ... It looks like a fisherman's house (and you can catch a nice tuna there, because you also have a boat!) Do not expect luxury, only overwhelming nature.

  • Great stay in this atypical cabin called bambu! Location close to activities, top staff!

    Niko2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • I completely recommend staying here! The staff was SO kind and helpful, the atmosphere is welcoming and everything is sparking clean. Very easy to book your excursions through them, very knowledgeable and they set it up for you or point you in the right direction. The kitchen is well equipped with supplies for cooking and you get your own shelving space and designated spot in the fridge. They supply oil, spices, and coffee. The restaurants in Drake were expensive and I highly recommend stopping by the store and taking advantage of the awesome outdoor kitchen. The living room space was very comfortable as well. I went in a restroom at one of the more expensive hotels down the beach and Mohagine’s bathroom was much cleaner. Every corner of this place was kept and cared for. You can tell the hosts really want to make it a special place. We will return!

  • This is a great place to stay in Drake Bay to get good insight on local tours. The folks who welcomed us had lots of information and recommendations about tours to take, and we loved the tours we went on based off of their recommendations.

    Anna2019-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • We totally enjoyed our stay here. It’s on the road up from the beach to town but nestled in the jungle and the common lounge/kitchen area is a great spot for meeting others from around the world and WiFi. One of the things I really appreciated was that Anja asks that people not play loud music—we can listen to the sounds of the jungle. This is rare. Many places where we were people were on vacation and their boom boxes were part of it. What made this place so special was the friendliness of all the people who worked there. Bedding and towels were changed every day! Much appreciated in the heat and humidity. We would definitely stay here again.

    Bridget2019-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very nice stay in this peaceful and relaxing place. The cabins and the surroundings are lovely and very well kept. You can see and hear many birds and be awoken by the howler monkeys, which so great! The Mahogine team is wonderful and they really care about their guests . Thank you again!

    Blandine2019-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Anna’s place is so special. It’s part hostel, part jungle retreat, part hotel in paradise. The huts are exactly that, huts, but with clean, soft linens, plenty of fresh towels, outlets, netting and ceiling fans. The entire facility is spotless and the staff are friendly and very helpful!! Wish we could have stayed longer.

  • It's awesome !! The 'cabins' are super comfortable, we are really surrounded by nature, we have seen, in the garden, monkeys, hummingbirds, toucans, phosphorescent insects (yes, if), and of course the famous blue butterflies. . The welcome is perfect, the advice on outings is always fair and the shared kitchen is not only a kitchen, but a quiet and really nice place to spend quality time on the hammocks. Go without hesitation.

  • We stayed in the wooden cabin that had a private bathroom and refrigerator. Agujitas is very well located, close to the beach and the pier for the different walks. We could use the public being with kitchen which was very well equipped. Orlan gave us excellent recommendations and was a great help for everything we need as well as Elena who was attentive to answering our concerns.

  • We were greeted at our boat landing by our Mohagine host and he led us to Mohagine. He has an informational talk often at 6pm to confirm the next days plans for everyone. We were a family of 4 and Madera accommodated is perfectly. They will do laundry for you if needed. It’s hard for things to air dry since it’s so humid. It might be nice to have a few things laundered.
