Alfie's place is a great place to stay if you're in Tokyo. The location is on a quiet street not far from shops, restaurants, and the metro. Alfie and Kenji were friendly and easy going. It is nicely decorated townhome with modern decor. I definitely recommend.

Alfie is nice, hospitality is just the place for our big boxes dragged four people a bit far from the JR line, very quiet residential Thank rich breakfast hospitality.

This was a great place. It's very clean and relatively spacious. The interior is nicely done and therefore you directly feel at home. The place is a little remote (10 minute walk from Kanamecco station) , but I didn't mind because the connections to shibiya and shinjuku are great. The place was a little cold in winter, but that counts for the whole of Tokyo. People don't isolate and switch heating off when they leave home. After 10 minutes of heating all is fine.

Very nice place, makes you feel like home. The location is near to Kanecho Station, one stop after Ikebukuro. You can spend one day nearby. Kenji and Alfie were so kind. Wish to see them next time.

After a recent stay of one week we highly recommend a stay with Alfie and Kenji. Their home is clean, well maintained, stylish, well considered for guests and very good value. The bedroom is well equipped with comfortable bed and there is plenty of wardrobe storage space. The neighbourhood is friendly, traditional and very quiet for Tokyo and a short walk to the subway. Alfie and Kenji are helpful with recommendations and advice but provide plenty of privacy for their guests. The level of hospitality is excellent- fresh clean towels every second day, freshly brewed coffee each morning and mobile pocket wifi to take with you each day.

Alfie's apartment was great! It's conveniently located near a 7-11, local restaurants and a subway that allows easy access to basically the entire east-side of Tokyo. The apartment is exactly as described with all the comforts of home. Both Alfie and Kenji are swell guys who went out of their way to assist and make us feel welcome.

Great stay! Alfie and Kenji has a beautiful home, it was modern and extremely clean. Great features such as a washing machine and a dryer, WIFI in the house and a pocket WIFI when traveling Tokyo and heating in the bedroom. If you don't mind sharing a home then this place is great. Japanese houses are built to hear things, unfortunately you sleep on the bottom floor so you may hear movement during the night and morning, aside from that it's a really nice stay.

This is a wonderful house so comfortable ,clean ,well-equipped and in a great location near Kanamecho station and convenience store. Alfie and Kenji are very accommodating. Would stay again when in Tokyo.

Super appartment in a really nice area. Creativity in decorating and handling the small space. One lttle remark: the bed is really small for two tall Dutch persons!

Lp and John are fantastic hosts! They are so kind and generous that you feel like home. I was lucky to chill out several times with them and enjoy all the tips. I can absolutely recommend John and LP's gorgeous place in Shibuya. Their attention to detail is impressive and they are fantastic hosts. Their studio has a unique Japanese charm. They made me feel welcome from start to finish. The place has everything you need, and is conveniently located in walking distance from the trendy neighborhoods of Daikanyama, Shibuya and Ebisu. Along with all other reviewers I have to agree: this has been one of the best Airbnb experiences I've had so far.

Evee though I had never met any of John &Lp. But I still feel very close with them. If u want a dreamlike trip, please choose them. intimate hotel and quiet atmosphere, look forward to seeing the next.

LP and Jon are great hosts who are easy to communicate with for any reasonable needs. When we arrived, everything was clean and presentable, along with a personalized welcome note. The room looks lovlier than in pictures and is an intelligently, well-designed, comfortable space that's a simple 8-10 minute stroll to Shibuya Station. Location is key when in Tokyo because an easily accessible place highly contributes to a great trip when your home is a short walk away... extremely recommended! We absolutely loved our time in Tokyo, very much thanks to the awesome apartment and to John who was the best host possible (LP couldn't be there). We will definitely be coming back and will be staying with LP and John for that trip as well!

The house is wonderful, a great place to stay in Tokyo. I stayed for 7 days in total and loved it. I was there by myself a lot but when Hidenori and his family were home we shared the space together and shared a few meals etc. I slept in the basement which was very comfortable and there are all the facilities there you could need. Can't recommend it highly enough.

I can't say enough about how amazing my stay at Hidenori's home was. The house is beautiful - an architectural wonder. By far the highlight of the trip was how welcoming and friendly Hidenori and his friends and family were. I got to experience a few days in their life - meeting artist friends and joining tasty home cooked meals. Thank you for the awesome stay! I would love to come back one day.

It was a great experience living in Kyodo house with Hide and his family. The house is great with sufficient space but a little bit cold in winter in the basement. I like the neighbourhood, it's very convenient, many good food and almost no tourists. Hope to go back again sometimes.

Kyodo House was a great experience - we loved the design of the house (being architects it was of great interest to us) and the hosts were very helpful and hospitable, we really enjoyed our stay.

Hide and his family are the ultimate hosts. There home is an impressive work of design. Staying in Setagaya really makes you feel like a local. When you stay with them you feel like part of the family :)

What a treat! If you like unusual housing look no further! This well equipped, comfortable, and cool as hell caravan is perfect. Close to the subway(2 mins away walking) and only a short ride away from Shibuya and Shinjuku, I loved staying there. The commune has loads of food trucks (on your actual doorstep) to cater all diets, from German sausage to vegan but more importantly including a great beer stand! Oh and the team is super helpful and quick to reply to emails. I will definitely stay there again next time I'm in Tokyo.

Quirky little spot. Warmly welcomed and introduced to the area. It's a squeeze, as you can imagine, but if you're prepared for it it's fine.

I stayed in the Caravan for two weeks - the first Airbnb'r and the first person to stay that long. Great time! It's small but good - the location is amazing. Central to everything, and walking distance from a huge amount of tourist attractions and shopping. The Caravan team is friendly and approachable - my (only minor) issues were taken care of promptly. I've given the team feedback and they're going to be improving the Caravan, but one thing isn't easily fixed. This is in a fairly high traffic area - especially on weekends. People are curious - a Caravan is an unusual sight. Be prepared to be in pictures if you're sitting with the curtains open or outside the caravan. That said, the place is emptied and locked up by about 10pm, so you have the space to yourself. The privacy here is not too good. Otherwise, great experience - even in February. Warm and cozy.

This place was excellent, Jesus was kind, friendly and available to us, showing us around the place and introducing us to cool designers working in the space. The space is quirky and cool, and I would stay there again. There's also a great duck soba place down the street, a bath-house and Cafe Kitsune which has the only correct matcha affogato that I am aware of in the entire world.

I had a lot of fun staying in the caravan. It had everything I needed for a comfortable and unique stay. The location is incredible and the hosts were always in touch throughout my stay. I highly recommend this experience for any single or couple looking for a fun and unique stay.

What a cool little airstream in such a neat little community! Loved the surrounding shops and food stands, and the warm welcome we got from Jesus. We stayed for one night, which was perfect for us. Such a unique experience.

My wife and I stayed two charming nights in the Caravan. Loved the location and easy subway access. All of the vendors at the Commune looked amazing, we had the best fried chicken while we were there. The Caravan itself was quite comfortable -- we'd grown used to tight quarters while visiting Japan, and this was only the second smallest space we stayed in. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a one-of-a-kind experience!

Anton and Yoshi were fantastic hosts. Couldn't have asked for better! The apartment was very comfortable, well maintained and very clean. They provided everything we needed and more including towels, shampoo, rice cook, sewing kit. There is air conditioning in both the main room and bedroom which was great considering the hot Japanese weather we had during our stay. We were a group of 4 girls and found the apartment highly accommodating. The pocket wifi was very useful for us especially because we didn't have a travel sim. The hosts responded very quickly to any of our requests. There was a lot of consideration put into making our stay as pleasant as possible. The modem for the home wifi was acting up on the first day and within minutes of letting them know, they came over and looked into it. They ordered a new one and fixed it almost immediately for us, to which we are most thankful for. The location was fantastic. It's a fairly quiet neighbourhood in the middle of the city and within walking distance of the major shopping centres at Harajuku and Shibuya. There are multiple train stations and subways nearby too so getting to Shinjuku, Shibuya, Roppongi are all incredibly easy. The supermarket is just down the road. It was very nice to be able to walk around the streets. Even at 1am in the morning you could go for a walk and feel completely safe. Upon arrival they provided us with maps of the area and marked our the major spots we might wish to visit. They explained how to use everything in the apartment and were in constant contact with us during our stay. We'd definitely recommend and encourage anyone who is looking to stay in Tokyo to really consider Anton and Yoshi's apartment. Not only was the apartment beautiful but they themselves were excellent hosts. We had a great time.

Yoshi is a wonderful host and took his time to really make us feel welcome. The apartment was perfect for us and our 2 boys - the main bedroom is very spacious and comfortable. We really loved the area - close and convenient to get to where we wanted - totally safe to wander around. You must visit the alleyway - Harijuku Street - highly recommend the Yakatori restaurant and don't miss The Live Blue Note Karaoke bar- lots of fun. Totally recommended and thank to you our wonderful host Yoshi.

Easy walk to Harajuku and the trains, well really everything you could possibly want! Amazing view of Tokyo from the apartment and the roof with a beautiful shrine across the street to boot. We caught a beautiful sunset and sunrise on our trip there and it was MAGICAL. The apartment has everything you need re: amenities; chargers, beautiful bathroom, iron and board, and the genie toilet! We loved it! Anton made us feel very welcome and we were so grateful for the hospitality after our long flight. We would stay here again and again and hope to come back to Tokyo soon. Thank you!!

This is a great space for solo travelers or couples. Despite its size, it has everything you need, which is impressive and inspiring! There is even a small balcony where you can get fresh air or listen to the sounds of the city. The apartment has very cool art and clever wood work. But it's the location that really makes this a great deal. It's located 5 mins from Harajuku station and is around the corner from Takeshita street, no need to go further for shopping and you are between Shinjuku and Shibuya (20 minute walks in either direction). We hope to be back soon!

The apartment is as charming as described in the description, with a very good central location in Tokyo. Very good communication with the host, even if we have not had the opportunity to see them. Good advice. One big negative (and probably temporary) work taking place on an almost detached building with the studio and that woke us with a start around 7:30 each morning.

LP and John's place is well-designed and exactly as pictured. It has one design theme that's really cool. The place is small, as is normal in Tokyo, but it has everything that you may need and more than enough space for one person. LP and John also prepared a little instruction booklet that's really helpful. Location was great too, it's in Harajuku and so very close to Takeshita dori. I have never met them, but communication was smooth and check in and out was easy. Would love to stay again on my next visit!

What a gem hidden in the backalleys of Harajuku! Location is just perfect, you can walk to pretty much everything in Harajuku and Shibuya. It's not a big studio, but cosy and decorated with love. Yoyogi park is around the corner ... What do you need more? We enjoyed our stay a lot, on top of that the great hospitality of our very attentive hosts LP & John. Big thanks, recommended!

Place has excellent location, as it is within walking distance from harajuku station and only 1 -2 stops from shibuya and shinjuku stations. Hosts are great; very responsive who reach out to check if everything is fine. They were also very kind to give us a long list of recommendations for food, coffee and drew a map of the area / shibuya for us.

That was the best air bnb experience so far. Tatsuhiro and his wife are really kind people who will provide you more than you think. Lets's start with the breakfast : included in the price, it was different and very delicious every morning. You can have a 700 JPN per day diner, witch was also delicious but also full of new tastes. Tatsuhiro will take you everywhere to discover the beauty of the area even without asking. He's a cultivated man, who speaks a very correct french & english and you will probably be surprised by his kindness and his generosity. The house has a real soul, it's clean and comfy. If I ever come back to Japan, I will return here for sure :).

It's close to train station, so it's easy to commute. Owner give us lift then we check in and check out and even provide us breakfast and dinner. Was bit chilly in morning, but this is only one minor flaw I can remember.

Trust me, this location is a rare gem! I stayed upstairs in the library, it was such a wonderful place to dream. The mid-century architecture had a wonderful infusion of traditional elements and design. I can't imagine a better stay! Tatsuhiro is a wonderful man to spend time with and has been very gracious in helping take us places or give us information. He is very courteous and kind. The food is top notch and a delightful way to start the day. With the utmost confidence I can assure you this is the place you'll want to choose if you're in the area.

The host- Mr Matsuzaki- and his wife are very hospitable,gentle and helpful people. We arrived in the evening and the host's wife came for us to the train station. Although the host lives close to the station it might be difficult to find the place without help. Once we entered to the house we were impressed by the way it is arranged,lots of books and wooden wall coverings made the place warm and cozy. The host welcomed us with a pleasant chat and showed us the place we could use-we had a separate bedroom and we could also use a room upstairs where we ate breakfast and dinner. We communicated with Mr Matsuzaki in Italian and English. Apart from Japanese-his mother tongue- Mr Matsuzaki speaks also French! When we arrived we were also offered something to eat and drink- it was really much more than we could expect. The host let us also have a warm bath which was a great opportunity to relax after a tiring journey. Mrs Matsuzaki is a great cook, recalling the tasteful food she prepared makes us hungry. We were lucky to get to find this to place!

best service ever encountered in my Airbnb experience. Tatsuhiro san and his wife are super hosts, they actually care to help you make the best out of this trip. Having a local guide is really helpful! And the amazing food, don't have to say more, everyone before me has already provided fair comments. We ate every meal there during our two-day stay, loved it so much that I once ate too much and had some stomach problem, then they gave me some medicine which helped... Having the bikes was really convenient for going to the huge shopping mall nearby, we liked it. Also liked the house for its unique design. Mr Tin Cheung: This is my first time rent a airbnb in Japan and I’m really enjoy of it. Host Mr. Tatsuhiro is a nice gentlemen. He was introducing akigawa and give us useful advise with great passion , we can feel that how deep is his love to his homeland. Following his advise , we visit few beauty temple which doesn’t show on travelling guide , climb up to Metake mountain 御岳山 which also a only locals knows place. House is warm due to host is a book lover, many books are else where in the house. We love the atmosphere in the house , and really enjoy while we have breakfast, dinner or just have a rest in the living room. Meal is also great , all are made of Host’s Wife Mrs. Tatsuhiro, from western to traditional Japan style, all taste good. ( Dinner is not include, but you order , price is reasonable) My whole experience is great , will come again cos we have to do hiking again in Tokyo country side. Mag: Tatsuhiro San is the best host I ever met, he has given us a pleasant and unforgettable stay. I picked the stay just because of the meal was highly valued by the review and it was really good!!! Another reason for the stay is the cat, but it is too shy to show up. I've never seen it on my stay. Haha! The most unforgettable one is his serve during our stay. Tatsuhiro San is a thoughtful and friendly host. He loves this place (Aikigawa) not only by living there but in the way to promote to others. I highly recommend to those who want to explore more in Japan, the rural and traditional one. Ken is very friendly and he have a welcoming sens exceptional (with also her sister Kana who speaks french). he offered us a beautiful view of her region. we have a good feeling with him and with his sister he has planned for us very interesting tours with a Soya sauce factory, a Sake factory and a splendid old temple. the house is very comfortable, with a kitchen, a small living room, bathroom (with traditional bathtub) and a quite room

I had a wonderful experience staying in the Ina Guesthouse, right near the river (perfect for a quick swim). Kenichiro was a terrific host, he was warm and welcoming, with many great suggestions for activities to do around the area. I ended up staying two extra nights as he organised some traditional activities such as geta workshop, silk factory and ink writing. I highly recommend visiting this area of Tokyo and staying at this beautiful guesthouse.

Everything in the house is exactly like the photos!! Peaceful, clean, Japanese country style, right by the river. The house provides everything we need. The host, Ken, lives next door, always responds to my email promptly. He introduced the area to us, helped us plan our hiking trip. He is one of the most friendly, kind-hearted and helpful hosts I have met. If you like hiking, fishing, rafting, the Akigawa valley is definitely worth visiting.

Masato-san 's place is highly recommended for those who want to be close to Tokyo, but not in the middle of the city. Hachioji is more peaceful and the Mt Takao area is great for enjoying a nice hike (great view of the city and Mt Fuji on a sunny day). The house is about a 12 min walk from Nishi-Hachioji station (we could have taken the bus, but decided to walk- which was fine even with our luggage). Good wifi, fully equipped kitchen, and quiet at night so we actually had the window open).

I had a fantastic time! The room was very cute and Masato was a very attentive and caring host who went out if his way for me many times. Communication and conversation were fantastic.

Masato is welcoming and enjoys learning about different cultures and views. We had a long and enjoyable chat and learned a lot from each other.

Masato was a wonderful host. He made us dinner one night and we drank Sake together. A very friendly fellow who likes spending time with his guests should you want to. Can't recommend staying with him enough.

If you travel in big group this is the right place for you to stay, also very suitable for family. Masato san house located about 20 minutes from NishiHachioji station. It is clean enough even thought a bit messy beside that everything is fine, the host is friendly and accommodate.

Masato's place is a perfect spot to explore Takao and beyond. By train Tokyo downtown is not far, so like other guests it's a good home base in a quieter location with all the amenities you'd expect including restaurants, transportation, etc. Masato himself is a pleasure to speak with and there were no communication issues. I recommend his place unreservedly.

Wonderful place to stay. They have thought of everything. Clean, comfortable, friendly, close to the train. I walked from the train as late as midnight and felt very safe. I would definitely stay with them again! Twin bed in my room so I'm not sure about accommodations for couples, but it was cozy.lots of directions in English. (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) helped with the rest.

The stay was really great!! Not only the location, very easily accessible from Hachioji Station but also because of the host who where really great and caring and attentive! Small but comfortable room with TV, fridge, and futon beds for two people. The common area and bathroom is very well equipped with whatever you may need. Only problem was that the directions were confusing and the map location was not accurate so we had to call the host in order to find the place. Other than that, it was a nice stay.

Definitely one of the best experience I have on Airbnb. I booked this place for my 65-year-old mother who was taking classes in Hachioji on the weekends from October to December. The host has been very communicative, accommodating and very hospitable. They sometimes offered her some delicious homemade meals for dinner, and they even helped me leave a surprise gift in a room on my mother's birthday weekend. Obviously, they had thought about how to make their tenants feel like home during the stay in their apartment, and beyond. The space was clean and organized, and neighborhood felt safe.  Highly recommended!!

I had a good stay at this apartment during my visit to Tokyo, the owner and his wife are very nice people and if there was something i needed help with they would do their best to help me, they even took me out eating a couple of times. The location is also very nice, it's a very safe neighbourhood and quiet which i liked, it's just a short walk to the train station and supermarket, i would really recommend this place to other people who are looking for a good place to stay near Tokyo. Chikara and his lovely wife were the perfect hosts. They made sure we were well taken care of, took us to a fantastic okonomiyaki restaurant, and told us about good local sightseeing spots and more. Their apartment was absolutely my favorite AirBnB stay thusfar and I hope to stay in it again soon. The train station is close by with a direct train to Tokyo and there are many places of interest within walking distance. Come stay at Chikara's apartment in Fussa, you will certainly have a great time!

The apartment was truly my dream hideaway. I used this housing to visit my elderly family member in the area, and having a Japanese domestic apartment just for myself was great. Neat and compact, both kitchen and bathroom are nicely designed for daily use. I enjoyed having a fresh tofu from a tofu special shop few streets down from the apartment, and heated up enjoyed easy healthy dinner. Few min walking distance from JR station and the area is completely safe and quiet. Host was a really friendly local guy and helpful for anything you can think of.

Quaint appartment, with just what we needed! It was a 4 minute walk to the train station and less than a 20 minute walk from the base. Absolutely persfect place for my boyfriend to stay for his vacation in Japan. Fridge, stove, shower, bed, washer. Fantastic!

It is conveniently located near Yokota air base. Easy walking distance. I recommend renting a bicycle to get around the Fussa area. The host was very helpful with all my requests. Very hospitable. If your going to be using the bullet train. I recommend getting the JR Railpass before you arrive in country, it's less expensive.

設備も新しく、かつ丁寧の管理されており、とても快適でした。18時以降であれば併設されているカフェのキッチンも使わせてもらえるということなので、ここを拠点に長期に滞在するグループ向けかなと思いました。

青梅駅から本当に数分。アクセスはこれ以上ないほどの便利な立地です。車で訪問しましたが、徒歩1分のところにある最大料金800円の駐車場を利用しました。街歩きだけでなく、車で御岳山や日原、奥多摩湖方面にも足を伸ばしやすく、家族5人で快適な2泊3日を過ごすことができました。建物はさすが重要文化財、見応えがあります。急な木造階段は娘たちに大人気で、映画「隣のトトロ」の1シーンを思い出しました。布団も清潔で気持ち良く熟睡でした。次回はカフェで珈琲、ケーキをいただきたいです!

If you dreamed of being a Ninja warrior, this is the place for you. Communication was very smooth and fast. The host was very responsive to our requests and had a friend help during our stay; she was kind and helpful. Unfortunately, the place was not set for 4 people: there were only 3 mattresses and we had to improvise to create one more bed from pillows that were around. The mattresses were also dirty/stained and the bedsheets did not seem fresh. We also got towels that were clean but very small. The place is very noisy at night and the house rattles as the trains move by. There was not enough toilet paper left even for one night (but they were quick to supply when we asked for extra). The sinks were not clean and some taps did not work. Nevertheless, it is a unique place but not sure it was suitable for us.

Great little authentic Japanese home. super friendly hosts & more than willing to chase around town looking for you because youre lost!

Highly recommended. It was one of the best Airbnb experiences I ever had. Jitsu was such a polite and nice host and we felt pretty welcomed. We got impressed with his great enthusiasm into Japanese culture and we learned a lot despite the facet that we were Japanese and he was not. We really enjoyed the BBQ and using Japanese sword. One thing: due to the Airbnb error the location on the website is wrong, so guests should make sure where to go beforehand.

Sei san was a very nice host, he welcome us and explain about the area very clearly! It was a very pleasant stay and we'll come back for sure one day! どもありがとうございます!

Want to get away from it all? For real? Like staying within metropolitan area has its perk, but when you want that peace and quiet, and real easy access to the inner city, this place is it! Very fun, rustic and clean atmoaphere. Even if its far from Tokyo I'd stay here again

All the things were well prepared and the host are so nice. We were glad to stay here. In addition, the host also recommended different places to us and even travelled with us which was a prefect experience. We hope to stay here again in the future.

Although I did not get the chance to meet Se chan, I loved staying at his place. It's a few minutes walk from Ome station and this place is a legit man cave. Samurai swords, Samurai armor, Popcorn machine, Beer draft machine, old video games (atari and Sega)!! And to top it all its in an old Japanese house where you can experience an authentic Japanese stay. I felt I was in an old Japanese martial arts movie. Really worth it! I will be planning to come back to meet Se chan and practice some martial arts with him.

It was a comfortable stay at Shukichi san! He was so kind that he offered us to picked us up and dropped us off at the station. We definitely will stay there again:)!

Shu picked me up and dropped me off. Very gracious host. Apt is close to train stations and shops and restaurants within walking distance. He provided recommendations and clean sheets and towels throughout my staying. And provided great communication.

Shu made me feel like family! He picked me up from another place in Tokyo and it was NOT CLOSE. He assisted me with my bags (many and heavy) and even provided me with fresh towels and sheets during my stay. He and his wife and their dog Lucky couldn't have been better to me. Shu went so far as to drive me and all of my heavy bags again, to my new home here in Tokyo. I can't recommend this host anymore highly. I say that it is worth coming to Tokyo just to meet Shu, his wife and Lucky.

The environment is good. Very quiet neighborhood, very friendly owner.

Shukichi is such a nice person and was very helpful even before my wife and I arrived, offering to pick us up in his car with all our luggage. When we got to the room it was just as we excepted from the photos with lots of extra space up in the loft area. The neighborhood was very nice and close within walking distance to several grocery stores, the local and regular train stations, and the Yokota Air Force base which has many shops and restaurants surrounding it.

Had an absolutely lovely time here! The apartment was clean and very darling! The host was very polite and helpful! I would highly recommend this place, can't wait to come back!

The place was really nice and bed was super comfortable! He also had an extra futon, which we used for our baby to sleep on the floor next to the bed. We were staying there in November, so the weather was already chilly. The heater inside the apartment did a good job and we stayed nice and warm! The communication was easy and Shukichi-san replied quickly. I had a migraine on our last day and he brought me some pain killers and told me to take it easy and not to hurry with checking out. Very kind!
