New studio in a recreation paradise! Clean, warm and bright, with a fully furnished kitchen and bath and tiny gas fireplace. Private daylight basement space tucked in the woods a few minute's walk from the North Fork of the Nooksack River, on a small organic farm/homestead. It's a perfect home base for skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and eagle watching. Hosts are familiar with local recreation opportunities and can share tips!
We had a great time creating this amazing studio apartment! The space is beautifully crafted and furnished, full of light. The 3/4 bath has a heated floor and custom tile shower. Kitchen cabinets are made out of yellow cedar salvaged years ago and stored for this project. Window and baseboard trim are made of maple from our homestead. The kitchen is fully set up with a gas range, dishwasher, and plenty of room for two. It it always stocked with good coffee and teas! The bed is an easy-to-set-up futon couch/bed with a new organic cotton and wool mattress and down comforter. A tiny gas fireplace completes the cozy room.
Our location in the Welcome Valley is a perfect base for recreation and relaxation. Activities like mountain biking, hiking, bird watching, or just skipping rocks on the river can all be accessed right out the door. People come from all over the region to see salmon and eagles November through February. For skiers and snowboarders, we are just an hour's drive from the legendary Mount Baker Ski Area.
  • Clean quiet space. Perfect for a Baker getaway

One cozy room with a double bed in the lower level of our home in the Sudden Valley area of Bellingham, WA. We reside in our home, so you would be using the downstairs area of our home while we are home. There is a nice second living room that you may use and includes cable TV and internet. There is also a bathroom that you would share with our three older other children who are living in our home (ages 14-20). Our kitchen and laundry room are for use as well!

This is the larger bedroom of the two available in this house. This room offers a more comfortable bed and also more space to put your things. We recommend selecting this room over The other listing in the house if you have an extended stay. The kitchen and bathroom are shared with hosts and/ or other AirBnB guests depending on if we are in town. The kitchen and bathroom are open to use during your stay.
The space is good for comfortable sleeping and for safely storing your things during your stay.
The neighborhood is located on a deadend street, so traffic is minimal. Feel free to take a walk and enjoy the area. There are several lakes and hiking trailed located within a short drive.

We built the Tiny Guest House for friends and family and love sharing the space with people traveling to Bellingham. The studio is within walking distance of both WWU (1.0 mile) and downtown (0.8 miles). The Guest House is quite small (200sf), it has a queen bed in the loft and a full sized futon on the main floor. And no kitchen.
This small space (200sf) is great for an affordable, private stay in Bellingham. We offer a queen bed in the loft and a full sized futon couch/bed on the main floor. Therefore, the space can accommodate four, but is not ideal as the space is small. We do offer a fridge on the porch and a coffee pot, but there is NO kitchen. Guests should also be aware that the lofted bed has sturdy, ladderesque stairs. However, there is not a lot of head room in the loft and it can be difficult to navigate especially if you are elderly or disabled or exceptionally tall. If you are not comfortable with stairs we can certainly set up the futon or we recommend finding more suitable accommodations.
The best part of the neighborhood (York) is that it is in close proximity to everything. We are within walking distance to downtown Bellingham and Western campus (both are within a mile). There are also a couple neighborhood diners/pubs that are great places to unwind while enjoying Bellingham. Bellingham has also become a destination for craft beer with about 15 breweries and several tap houses--many are located less than a mile from the Guest House. You should also note that the neighborhood is well represented by University students who occasionally exhibit normal University student energy.
  • Great value, great hosts and great overall 10/10!!! You will not regret staying here

  • The tiny house is not to be overlooked if traveling to Bellingham. It is so cute and cozy with the most comfortable bed. Don’t worry if you forget or need anything , Chris and Amy have thought of it all. My daughter and I stayed while checking out the WWU campus, was perfect!! We would definitely stay again.

    Julie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a cute and cozy space! Chris and Amy were very thorough in their communication with me as far as the checkin process went. And they gave me some great recommendations of places to go in town. The bed was so comfy. And they keep the space very clean. ^_^

A small, private, cozy studio less than a mile walking distance of both downtown Bellingham and WWU campus.
This one bedroom studio is small but mighty. We believe you will find it to be a very private, convenient and affordable option in the heart of Bellingham. It's located within a mile of both the epicenter of downtown Bellingham as well as WWU campus. In 2017 we made some cosmetic improvements by replacing the carpet with hardwood flooring, updating the electrical and giving it a new paint job. However, it could certainly use an updated kitchen and bathroom and was used as a college rental for many years before we rescued it. So if you're looking for modern and fancy, you may want to look elsewhere. But if you don't mind rustic/charming, we believe you will be quite comfortable. It is most suitable for 1-2 people, but the futon couch can be used as a second "bed" making it available to groups of up to three. Also, the on-site parking space is located on the back alley. It is a bit small and the alley is somewhat narrow so parking a large vehicle could take some extra effort. We recommend backing in to the space. If you are uncomfortable with the small parking space, you will need to find street parking which is generally available but can get crowded by late evening.
The best part about York neighborhood is our proximity to both downtown bellingham and WWU campus (both are within a mile). There are also several neighborhood diners, pubs and restaurants all within a 1/2 mile that are great places to unwind after enjoying bellingham. We recommend both Nelson's market and MacKay's tap house. Due to our proximity to campus, there are many students in the area. Generally they are quiet but can host loud parties from time to time.
  • Chris and Amy's place is cute, cozy, and the perfect little place for a weekend getaway. We loved the ambiance of the little deck area and felt right at home! Easy check in/check out, too! We'll definitely be recommending this place to others!

    Tanya2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place is tiny, but very cute, comfortable, stylish and clean! The bed was amazingly comfortable with very soft sheets, a wonderful mattress, plenty of perfect pillows and soft cozy blankets. Amy and Chris have thought of and included every little thing a person would need for a cozy retreat, from coffee to waffles, and earplugs to toothpaste (and toothbrushes if you forgot yours)! No need to run out for anything! There may even have been chocolate! I would definitely stay here again!

    Marcia2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • This Airbnb was great! It’s a cozy suite that has a full kitchen, a stocked up bathroom, a super comfortable bed, and there are fun board games in the living space! It’s very close to downtown Bellingham and a grocery store. Chris and Amy are thoughtful hosts, and I would recommend anyone wanting to spend time in downtown Bellingham to use this spot!

  • This is my second stay at one of Chris and Amy's places and each time they did not disappoint! Clean, tidy, filled with lots of thoughtful and homey touches, check-in is easy and convenient and parking is available close by. Located near downtown, grocery stores, and parks, and easy to find. Definitely recommend!

    Natasha2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was just amazing! Step by step directions on how to get in, easy communication! A clean and beautiful home! Chris and Amy left a note on the table for us stating if we needed anything at all to text or call and left there phone number. They are just amazing hosts. I am always a cold person and they had blankets all over for me to snuggle up with. I cant say enough good things about them. Will rent again when i come back!

We would love to welcome you to our Garden Gate Suite. This is a 2nd story room with a bathroom. There is a small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. With a completely private entrance you have access to a garden space and views of Bellingham.
This space includes a balcony over looking Bellingham and hosting beautiful sunsets over the city.

  • This is a lovely place located in a convenient location. Check in was easy and we were welcomed with a lovely room with a lot of attention to details. They even had small bottles of champagne and wine in the mini fridge for us, which we enjoyed at the end of a long day. The room is extremely clean, tasteful and cozy. We would love to stay with them again.

Amy and I rescued and updated this neighborhood, turn of the century, 800+ sf character home in 2016. The Bungalow is located within walking distance of both WWU (1 mile) and downtown Bellingham (0.8 miles) and the neighborhood boasts several great breweries and dining options. The bungalow is located on a dead end, single-family street.
This house is a turn of the century character home in the York neighborhood. We have relished the opportunity to fix it up. Major updates have been made to the roof and electrical. I installed new hardwood to the foyer, living room, bedroom #2 and the dining room. Both the exterior and interior have fresh coats of paint and I replaced the front porch. The kitchen could use an update but is clean and has fully functional appliances and is stocked with everything you need to cook. Sorry, no dishwasher.
The best part about York neighborhood is that it is in close proximity to everything. We are within walking distance to downtown bellingham or Western campus (both are within a mile). There are also a couple neighborhood diners/pubs that are great places to unwind while enjoying bellingham. The neighborhood is well represented by University students who occasionally exhibit normal university student energy.
  • Chris and Amy’s bungalow was perfect. Unfortunately we had to cut our stay short due to the COVID19-needed to get home. They were very understanding and we cannot wait to come back and stay there again. It will be our go to place in Bellingham! Thank you Chris and Amy for your excellent communication and providing a wonderful home away from home!

  • We and our dog had a great stay at Chris and Amy's place. The home: We were expecting student housing since its in a student neighborhood, so it was a pleasant surprise that the home looks so new and quite classy! Nice leather sofas, wood floors and good décor. The beds were super comfortable, and the home was warm and cozy. The board games were a nice touch. The kitchen counters have limited space but the hosts have provided everything you may need to make a quick meal. Plenty of towels and even an extra toothbrush, which I found handy because I forgot to pack mine! Shower was warm and had good water pressure. The location: We parked across the home in the dedicated parking spot provided by the hosts. Street parking seemed to be full for the night. There was a party in one of the homes but the bedrooms are towards the back of the home and we didn't hear a thing. Nice, well lit neighborhood that felt safe when we walked our dog late night. close to downtown, a quick uber ride away. The hosts: Chris and Amy kept in touch and even got our home ready hours before the check in time mentioned in the listing. They were very responsive. They have added a lot of thoughtful touches around the home to make for a very comfortable stay. All in all, a great stay, highly recommend!

  • Allie's space feels so warm, cozy, and magical! This was a perfect gathering space for close friends. We enjoyed staying here to explore around Mt. Baker and Bellingham. It was only about 15 minutes from downtown Bellingham and Allie had great recommendations for eats. We will definitely be booking this place again in the future!

  • Beautiful and perfect solitude! The treehouse has everything that you would need to escape for a few days-quiet, warm, wonderful layout, functional living and work areas, really neat touches, and a great book selection. That tub with endless hot water was the perfect topper to an amazing trip.

    Krystal2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, warm and inviting space with beautiful scenery and sounds abounding from the creek, ducks and chickens. The eggs were a real treat. I'll be back for sure.

    Stephany2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely wonderful. The soaking tub was the cherry on top.

    Baylie2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • When we first got there it was dark outside and a bit hard to figure out where to park. There are signs up, it was just hard to see them in the dark. The road isn’t paved and is bumpy but we expected that so it didn’t bother us. The treehouse is extremely cute and cozy and we had a great time just relaxing there for a day. It was peaceful and a great getaway from regular life for a bit! Definitely recommend this place!

    Ashley2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at the treehouse. Michelle and Peter were great at communicating the road conditions to us, and thanks to their communication and detailed directions, we had no problem getting to the Airbnb in a Prius on the 3-mile-long dirt driveway. The treehouse is quaint and cozy, with an extremely comfortable bed and a substantial supply of tea. It has great views of the trees around it and the nearby creek. I would definitely recommend this place for a little weekend getaway.

    Amanda2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Loved this cute space in a tranquil wooded environment. The hosts go above and beyond in every way. It was clean, inviting, fun and eclectic. More than we had hoped for!

    Freerunner012020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and comfortable place. The location feels remote although it is close to town. The bathroom is pretty wonderful. Nothing like a potty with a view.

    Heide2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The tree house is a great destination when you need to unplug and reconnect with the woods. A nice little collection of CDs to keep the tree house warm with music - I would suggest bringing some too, and leave behind your spin on the music that defined your get-away. Michelle and Peter were very responsive and made sure we had everything we needed, though we never met in person during our two night stay; we had complete privacy while there. Lots of trails and areas to hike in the immediate vicinity. Or spend your time in the tree house listening to music, playing their instruments (or bring yours), cooking, reading, or just relaxing. The house has many nice little touches and is well stocked for cooking, coffee, etc. The composting toilet is nothing to fear if you’ve never used one. A bit of a step up to use it, so be aware if you have knee or balance issues. Our drive in was a little muddy - it’s deep in the woods after all. So be aware of the weather and your car’s capability of visiting during the rainy season. Lovely place - we’ll be back!

Beautiful setting that provides easy access to all that Bellingham has to offer. In the city but feels like the country. Our spacious suite is the perfect getaway for a couple or individual. With a private entrance, the 2nd floor studio and bathroom (on lower level) provide a great place to call home while in Bellingham. The king bed is ultra comfortable and the studio is perfect for those that want more space and amenities than a hotel room or shared house.
Our above garage suite is beautifully decorated with super comfortable king bed and comforter. Large armoire for clothing. High speed internet, microwave/toaster oven, Keurig, french press, small fridge and freezer, iron board, dishes, pots & pans and more. Hot plate available upon request. We only allow up to two people, but if you have an infant, don't hesitate to check with us. Interaction with guests: We are a text message away, anytime for anything! We live in the main house, but value your privacy. Our Clean Unit Guarantee - We want our guests to know that we provide clean bed sheets, pillow cases, duvet cover, mattress pad and bathroom towels/cloths for every visitor. We personally clean all surfaces upstairs and in the bathroom prior to every guest and do not use a cleaning company. This is how we like places when we visit, so we feel our guests deserve the same treatment! The neighborhood: Centrally located to EVERYTHING...Right on the trail system that runs throughout Bellingham. Near St. Joseph's Hospital, Barkley Village, downtown Bellingham, WWU and easy access to the freeway north and south. You can be on the road (State Rte. 542) to Mt. Baker in about 2 minutes from our house. Check out the notebook in the suite for information about our area, local trails and great places to eat, drink and hang out. Our location is central whether driving, riding or walking. We are right on the interurban trail that takes you all over Bellingham. We are also only a few minutes from downtown and the I5 Freeway. We are local and know Bellingham very well! If you have questions don't hesitate to ask.
Our home is walking distance to Barkley Village, Whatcom Falls Park, Lake Whatcom and provides easy access to just about all of Bellingham. Though you drive up through a typical neighborhood, our area has a limited number of houses on large lots. Almost all the homes on our private driveway have at least 3/4 of an acre, so there is no one super close.
  • Had a great time staying here. The space was very comfortable and super clean. Good location too

  • Matt and Laura’s place was awesome to stay at close to downtown gave some tips on what to do when we stayed . Will definitely stay there again.

  • Matt and Laura are great hosts. I was in need of nothing, but they were responsive and pleasant in all interactions before and during my stay. I was in town for a conference, so I was looking for a cozy and quiet place to retreat to after busy days interacting with and constantly being around people. Matt and Laura's is a great place to replenish and be prepared for the next day's adventures, wherever your stay in Bellingham takes you. Thanks!

    David2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Very quiet, clean and cozy. King size bed was very comfortable, slept like a baby.

    Heather2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here with my daughter for a ski trip to Mt Baker in the month of February. This is a very pleasant, comfortable and private studio apartment with a separate entry between the main house and the garage. Very nice up-to-date apartment and amenities. The bathroom is on the main level off the entryway, and right next to the stairway leading up to the apartment over the garage. There is good lighting in the stairwell and the bathroom, and all is well heated. Matt and Laura communicated well and responded promptly to questions. Great value for a very nice space.

    Theresa2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Very cool place to stay! Very organized and clean. Will stay again.

    Karissa2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was a great space with plenty of room and plenty of thoughtful touches. A short drive to downtown Bellingham, it was in a great location. Matt and Laura were great hosts who always responded very quickly. Can’t thank them enough for renting out their space!

    Alicia2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • My stay here overlapped with the first snow storm of the year in Bellingham. The place was super cozy and Matt and Laura even cleared my car of snow one morning. The room was comfy and had everything I needed.

  • My husband and I loved staying at this place. Very spacious for a studio and very clean. The owners were super thoughtful and even brought a baby gate over and installed it to keep my little one safe from the stairs. I would love to stay here again sometime when I am in the area.

  • My stay at Amy’s place was magical. I was looking for a quiet weekend away, and got exactly what I was looking for. The space is quiet and beautiful, and surrounded by trees. There were so many nice touches like sparkling water in the fridge and coffee for the morning. I cooked every meal while I was there, and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything I needed. I also forgot my shampoo and conditioner, and was soooo thankful she provided that too! It was literally a home away from home. Check in was super easy, and she was quick to respond to messages beforehand. I’d highly recommend and would definitely stay again!

Historic cabin in the woods. Quiet, peaceful, private, and relaxing. Private driveway and entrance. Property is on a dead-end road next to Cain Lake in Alger. Minutes to Lake Whatcom and Sudden Valley, including the Sudden Valley golf course. 20 minutes to Bellingham, 15 minutes to Galbraith Mountain, about an hour to Mt. Baker. Plenty of hiking and mountain biking around! Bring your kayak, golf clubs, hiking boots, mountain bikes or snow skis! Or just yourselves for a relaxing stay. Welcome!
Historic cabin built in 1928 as part of the Grove Log Cabin Court in Bellingham. Rescued and moved to current location on our property and we have had a great time decorating it. The number one word we hear about it is cozy. Equipped with a queen size bed that sleeps two, microwave, mini-fridge, coffee maker, coffee, teas, and some snacks but no full kitchen. An adult-sized cot is available upon request. There are a couple of restaurant options in nearby Sudden Valley. Bellingham, Sedro Woolley, and Mt. Vernon are 20 - 30 minutes away with many excellent restaurant options.
The neighborhood is rural and quiet. There are many lakes nearby that offer any number of recreational opportunities as well as many hiking and mountain biking trails. The cities are only minutes away.
  • Always love staying here! This is my third visit, but my first time getting to stay for the weekend. I decided to veg on the couch and work my way through the DVD collection at the cabin. :)

A Cozy refuge, perfect for couples! Situated just off a scenic byway we are 13 miles from Bellingham, 38 miles to the Mt. Baker National Wilderness. With our close proximity to the Canadian border & less than an hours drive to catch a ferry to the Islands, we are a great jumping off point to your next adventure. Whether you are an outdoor enthusiast (skier, hiker, mushroom hunter, eagle watcher) or an Urbanite in search of night life & the perfect brew, be it coffee or beer, we welcome you!
Welcome to the Robyn's Nest. With its private entrance, a ground level enclosed patio and a private deck on the upper main level, the Robyn's Nest provides cozy personal space for rest and relaxation. Our studio apartment has a thoughtfully laid out floor plan: a kitchen with full size appliances, a sitting area with ample lighting to read or play a game. Large windows give territorial views and on a clear day a peek-a-boo view of our majestic Mt. Baker. Open the french doors and enjoy your coffee on the private deck or make use of the private patio at the bottom of the stairs. There you'll find a gas fire pit for your enjoyment. We can comfortably accommodate couples with the king size bed with memory foam mattress and plenty of blankets. If you are traveling with others we do have an ottoman that features a pull out single size sleeper. For a family with a little one a pack n play is available. (The apartment has stairs and no child proofing in place; if you have children traveling with you please confirm that you understand the risk.) We have a large Roku TV which will allow you to log in to your subscribed channels or enjoy the ones provided. The bathroom has a shower. (no tub) There is also a washer and dryer in the bathroom for guests to use. ( laundry soap NOT provided) Note: We use toxin- free cleaning products for both cleaning and laundry so we can all breathe a little easier.
Located at the foot of majestic Mount Baker and bordered by the Nooksack River, Deming is a small unincorporated town rich in agriculture and logging. Dairy farms and berry farms dot the landscape of Whatcom County and east county is no exception. In the summer, many places offer U-pick as well as selling flats of freshly picked berries. Delicious! The history of logging runs deep in the roots of this community. A logging show is held annually every June on the nearby Deming Log Show grounds (3 miles away). Several musical events, including the Mt. Baker Rhythm & Blues festival each August, are held during the year at the log show along with antique car shows, vintage trailer rallies and more. Being close to the mountains, the opportunity for hiking lies just outside our front door. You might enjoy a stroll to the river just minutes away, or a hike up in the hills that overlook our town. Within a short driving distance is Deming Homestead Eagle Park. Between December and March, majestic bald eagle viewing is thick as the salmon are spawning. Driving just a little further you'll find Silver Lake State Park, Maple Falls Creek Trail and Horseshoe Bend Trail just to name a few! The Mount Baker National Forest is brimming with adventure-- from hiking in the beautiful alpine wilderness in the summer and early fall to the winter months where skiing and snowboarding are excellent. Mt. Baker is well known for its Banked Slalom in February and the Ski-to-Sea race that takes place in May. There is year round adventure just waiting for you to explore. But don't forget your Discover Pass which is needed for access to Washington State Parks. You can purchase your pass at the Ranger Station in Glacier, WA.
  • This was a great place to unwind and relax on our impromptu roadtrip before we headed to Mt Baker for snowshoeing. Wish we could have stayed and enjoyed it longer!

Baker really convenient, and the kitchen, spacious closet, big TV made it easy to relax at the end of a tiring day outside. Can't wait to come back!

  • Always a great place to stay. Beautiful scenery and very clean. Best kept secret.

    Stewart2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend snagging this Nest while you can. Not only is the space absolutely relaxing, comfortable, peaceful, and accommodating. But, also, the host is very welcoming. Robyn greeted us when we arrived and also came to watch my band’s show at Chair 9 in Glacier, WA! That’s rare with most hosts. It was by far the best AirBnB I have ever stayed at. It’s also conveniently-located next to a gas station and nice restaurant (which I also recommend) called The Road House. 5-stars!

  • Great place. I loved the location and serenity. 5 star for sure. Could make the tub into a shower very easy. But all in all it was an amazing time.and that little space heater cranks even at 66!lol

  • This tiny house cabin was the perfect escape for my fiance and I! The sound of the rain on the roof, and the homey touches made by Michelle and Peter made for a miraculous hideaway in the trees. I loved the way the space is used and the eco friendly amenities! We definitely want to come back and stay again!

  • Lovely cozy place with awesome handmade features, outdoor touches indoors, clawfoot tub outside is awesome! Trail down to the creek is super cool.

  • Cool rustic tiny cabin in the woods . Had everything we needed for a Rustic adventure Outdoor Soaking tub with unlimited hot water is fantastic !

    Rick2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed the rustic cabin atmosphere the Tiny House conveys. Small and cozy but very comfortable . Has all basic amenities listed . Offers all the Peace and solitude that we were looking for. The outdoor composting toilet is simple. The outdoor soaking tub is amazing ... all the hot water you want for long luxurious healing soaks, with refreshing cold air to cool off. It’s private enough even in the daytime. Peter was very responsive although we didn’t need much... except to book a second night! They will send you detailed directions to find this place ... follow them and it’s easy. The last 3 miles are gravel with chuck holes and some mud. You pass by some old hoards of stuff that’s not offensive ...but hey this is off the grid !

    Rick2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • I loved my stay here :) a lot of much needed alone time!!! michelle and peter were lovely hosts, and i thoroughly appreciated everything about this little cabin! it was incredibly cute, and i loved the plants.

  • Very nice stay! Even though it is on the premises of the owners/hosts they have parking on the side of the building that is private. Overall it was a great stay! Also, the creek behind the house is really awesome! Such a cool, nature filled stay! 🌲

    Jordan2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • We only had a short time there but it was perfect for our family of 3. So clean and lovely. The bedroom bed was incredibly comfortable and the sheets were awesome. The TV was huge and fun to watch. The hot tub was perfect and right by a beautiful creek in both looks and sound. Great that there was a small frig, microwave and coffee in the morning. They are great communicators and we would highly recommend to anyone in need of a place in this area.

There is a white noise machine and earplugs provided.
Public beaches on the lake just down the road, hiking and running trails nearby and a 10 minute drive to downtown Bellingham. Please see our guidebook as I have marked great hiking and running trails nearby as well a public beach.
  • Lara and Casey's place was a great first experience for us in Bellingham (and WA state!). It's stylish, clean, comfortable, peaceful, and close to all that we wanted to explore in Bellingham, Vancouver and on San Juan Island. The bed was super comfy, the deer were charming, and the host family (above) were quiet. We'd love to stay again and would highly recommend.

    Lisa2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Nice and clean place to stay. Perfect for a quick weekend, had everything we needed. It was even great for our one year old daughter!

    Justin2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Lara and Casey's! The space was extremely clean, homey, and had all the amenities that we needed. It was easy to get in and out of town, and Lara and Casey responded to our messages quickly.

    Alison2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lara and Casey's basement apartment was an excellent choice, a great deal for sure. The location was perfect, in the outskirts of town in such a beautiful area, yet still just minutes away from everything. The apartment was spotless, cozy and very nice. The bed was very comfy and it was hard to resist sleeping in every day. There were several deer in the backyard the entire time, even coming up and laying next to the house while we sat and drank coffee. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay while visiting the area, would recommend this place to anyone travelling to the Bellingham area.

    David2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the cozy space, the view of the lake was nice, and our hosts were fantastic. Had a small mother nature issue and they were very quick to help everything get sorted out, and took very good care of us. Will 100% recommend to friends and family.

    Elizabeth2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • It was very clean! Full kitchen was nice & lots of privacy.

    Emily2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lara and Casey's place was cozy and inviting. It was the perfect place for us and it was nice to be outside of town a little bit.

    Devynne2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Lara and Casey's. It was just what we were looking for! Plenty of room for two and a real kitchen so we could make coffee and breakfast and keep our stuff in the fridge. A very peaceful neighborhood and it was a delight to stay there. Lara was very attentive and friendly, definitely great hosts.

  • Beautiful, cozy cabin on the river. A little tough to find but well worth the scenic drive deep into the woods! Will definitely be back for another stay

    Hugh2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Barry's Cabin is wonderful , views of the river right from the cabin , can't ask for anything more. Wood stove was stocked and heated the cabin nicely, incoming water is also a huge bonus for a cabin. I want to keep this place a secret and tell you not to book, but honesty you should just book it , you wont regret it.

    Daniel2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Barry’s cabin is simply incredible. It’s a cozy and charming cabin located on the most beautiful piece of land, with breathtaking views of the river and mountains. We stopped to get groceries on the way and it was well equipped with everything we needed for cooking. It was a quick drive to Mt Baker (~30 mins) which was perfect for what we needed. We’d love to stay again. Thanks Barry!

    Stephanie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay with Barry and Ruth. We will be back this summer! Lovely people we now call friends. Rustic sublime, tranquility, off the grid. Weather was rainy most of the time but we took walks anyway. Cozy wood fire. We played cards by candlelight, read our books, cooked together and sipped martini 🍸 s as we sat in our chairs overlooking the rushing Nooksack River and mountain vistas. One of a kind experience for those who enjoy stepping back in time to before internet and electronics. Thanks, Barry and Ruth!

    Alice2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Arrived with the warmth of the fire from the wood stove. Amazing location along the Nooksack river, outstanding views and got lucky with a clear night with a full moon that lit up the area. Would go back and it was very tough to leave. Easy drive to the Mt Baker ski area.

Quiet and surrounded by forest, Solitude makes you feel far away from it all, yet it is only 20 scenic minutes to downtown Bellingham. We are near Lake Whatcom and hiking trails, and just 70 minutes to Mt. Baker ski area. Relax on the deck in the summer or cozy up by the fire in chilly weather. You may also enjoy a movie on the projector screen in our rec room.
Solitude is a modern, two-story home with an eclectic mix of rustic, antique, and modern decor. There is ample parking in front. This is Bedroom 1 of our two guest bedrooms (please see our other listing for photos of Bedroom 2.) Each bedroom has a queen bed and its own bath. Two Australian shepherds and a very friendly cat share our home.
We are 1/2 mile north of Lake Whatcom. The neighborhood is rural, with views of the lake, forest, horse properties, and mountains. The Fork at Agate Bay restaurant nearby is highly rated.
  • Nice location, huge house. Good directions on how to get there, it’s about 15-20 minutes outside of Bellingham. I just needed a place to rest overnight for work, and it was a nice place to be. Erica made a very tasty Dutch baby for breakfast as other reviewers noted. One friendly bit of advice to potential visitors, Don’t keep food in your room unless you keep the door closed, their sweet pups will absolutely help themselves. (Dogs will be dogs, zero hard feelings!) 😆

    Robin2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • We LOVED our stay. The three of us (my husband, puppy, and I) felt so welcome. Barb and Erika were excellent with communication leading up to our stay. Their home is beautiful, clean, and very cozy. Luckily our puppy got along with the two Aussies that were extremely friendly. My husband and I enjoyed having a yummy breakfast each morning made by Barb. Our favorite was the Dutch baby with lemon curd and blueberry compote! We wholeheartedly recommend Barb and Erika’s home.

    Thinh2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Barb’s and Erika’s place is beautiful, quiet and super clean. Their breakfast is delicious and they were super friendly and gave us a lot of great local tips. Even the smallest details were very thoughtful and their furry friends are adorable and polite (I’m not a dog person at all, and I loved having them around). Thanks for everything!

    Aurora2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Barb was so generous and kind! The home is beautiful and we had a wonderful stay. The bed is incredibly comfortable and the location is perfect for staying between skiing Baker and going into Bellingham. And breakfast was amazing!

    Jackie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place.

    Waleed2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • I loved my stay at Barb and Erika’s. They were great at accommodating my dog as they Have some lovely dogs have their own that got along so well with him. The house itself is stunning and the upstairs where the projection screen room is so cosy. There were even snacks which was great for the movie at night and the breakfast in the morning was 5 star taste and company - Barb is a lovely woman and was very relaxing to speak with - also very courteous and gracious in offering the whole kitchen and living area. Highly recommended for great value.

    James2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying here, very quiet and beautiful but accessible to town. Barb and Erika seem like delightful people and their animals are super friendly. Breakfast was delicious too. Also enjoyed movie watching room where you can cast from your phone to projector screen.

    Adam2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • This gem is tucked away in a quiet woods, surrounded by natural beauty. Barb is a gracious hostess, extremely accommodating and warm. Also, she cooks a delicious breakfast served against a backdrop of lovely views, no matter the weather! It's a perfect spot for a little getaway.

Guesthouse 7-miles from I-5/Sunset exit. 1-bedroom w/Qn bed, full bath, kitchen & living room. Wifi & digital movie channels. Private back deck & fenced area. Outdoor amenities include; Hot tub, outdoor grilling kitchen, fire pits, walking paths. We're a best fit for guests who like a casual homey environment - ideal for couples or a single person looking for a retreat style getaway. Please read the PET POLICY if you're traveling with dog(s) and we're sorry we cannot accommodate cats.
The guesthouse is a comfy and casual accommodation. Ideal for guests who might be looking for a rural retreat while still being close to town & other activities. The property is six acres that is half old cedar & birch tree forest with several easy walking trails (bring all weather shoes for the winter months), the other half is small hobby farm that is home to us, our two horses, goats, three cats and a lab mix dog (chickens coming again soon). Your accommodation is a second & totally separate home on the property that's fully appointed with everything you need for both a short or extended stay. There's a private enclosed front porch with plenty of storage areas, and a private back deck and fenced in ground level area for pets to have a little off leash time. The property is open for walks & exploration, it's woodsy & natural setting versus groomed landscaping. There's lots of areas to explore and enjoy just sitting in the shade including by a little pond, up in the forested grove, walking the tree lined paths, several picnic tables across the property (see map in photos). Consider adding a 'Fireside Movie Night' to your stay! (see image in photos). Bring or rent your own DVD/Blueay or discuss your ideas with us we have literally hundreds so likely we have something to suit your tastes. We will set up the movie, get the firepit going for you and have the snack bar/food counter areas all ready for your use. We have coolers also so you can stock whatever you like. There's roasting sticks ready for your use of course. It's a really fun outdoor woodsy experience! Add on cost $35 either at time of booking or in person if you decide to have one once you get here. There's no additional cost just to go up and have a fire and roast some hot dogs or smores! You'll also have access during your stay to the outdoor enclosed "Sundance Grill" kitchen so plan to bring your BBQ skills and enjoy a meal or two during your stay out there! There's a large gas grill, a smoker grill with a flat top, stove burners and a microwave. Sink to wash up and lots of seating and counter space. Dishes, utensils and basic grilling supplies are all provided. The bamboo gazebo hot tub is a not to be missed experience. We provide you with spa robes and towels and there's lounge chairs up on the gazebo deck for relaxing in between dips. PET POLICY: We're dog friendly (no cats due to allergen concerns) for up to 2 med/large dogs (breeds must be disclosed at time of booking please) or up to 3 small dogs. Our primary concern with dogs visiting the property is that they be as socialized as possible and not other animal aggressive. They'll need to be on leash anytime they're out enjoying the property with you. They're free to be off leash of course in the guesthouse private fenced patio area. And finally we ask that all pet waste is disposed of using your or our potty bags (there's a separate potty waste can we'll show you also). $25 additional pet fee due when additional fee invoice is sent (generally right after your booking is confirmed). Seasons Here and What to Expect: Fall/Winters (nov-mar) here you can count on rain and possibly snow - during the months of Jan/Feb it's not uncommon for much of the property to be frozen solid (so much so that if your vehicle is not equipped for icy conditions you may have some difficulty). The calmer winter months of Nov/Dec here are most ideal for a cozy retreat going between the farmhouse, hot tub, outdoor kitchen lounge and fire pits. Summer/Early Fall (jun-oct) the property is in its full glory, other than the occasional burn ban there isn't anything happening on the property that should affect your stay (we do have a fan in the guesthouse; but the guesthouse is very shaded and stays cooler than any other building on the property in the hot weather -- there is a screened glass slider in the kitchen also as well as screened bedroom & living room windows).
We are located exactly 7-miles from the Sunset Rd Exit off of I-5. Sunset Drive turns into the 'Mt. Baker Hwy' a 2 lane rural highway (the drive to and from I-5 to our location is approximately 11 minutes) - our nearest cross street is the Kelly Rd. and We're near the Rome Store which is a not to be missed local gem for anything from cooking essentials to deli and bakery treats.
  • Awesome stay!! Great location close to hikes and Bellingham. Also went to Vancouver for lunch. Very cozy space, with everything needed for a short or longer trip. Don was very welcoming, we'r felt right at home during our stay. Lots of great outdoor spaces to enjoy throughout the property. I would love to stay again, especially during nicer weather months.

    Sean2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great hosts, place as pictured/described, excellent amenities, super place for access to Mt. Baker area for both summer and winter outdoor activities.

  • Don and Michelle were amazing hosts. Michelle was very responsive and Don was incredibly helpful. There were so many extras and nice touches and we really appreciated them. Our holiday was incredibly relaxing and fun! We used the hot tub daily and watched a fireside movie with s’mores. We were planning our next trip before we even left!

    Hannah2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I, with our dog Ruby, thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Don and Michelle’s. Though we did get to meet Michelle, we found Don to be a friendly, communicative and helpful host. We, including Ruby, were well taken care of. The place was comfortable and clean and the hosts provided lots of extras. We took a drive up to Mt. Baker which was simply beautiful. Beyond that, and a great dinner at Ruggio’s in nearby Deming, we simply hung out and relaxed. That was exactly what we wanted to do.

    Lois2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Don and Michelle’s place was fantastic! Michelle was incredibly prompt with responding to any messages, and Don gave us a tour of the entire property and the amenities as soon as we arrived. They also provided us with a great suggestion for where to eat our first night in town. The cabin was super cute and cozy. We would definitely stay at Don and Michelle’s again if we’re in town!

    Kelly2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin has easily made it on our list of favorite places to stay! Michelle and Don communicate promptly and clearly. They are so friendly and welcoming. Great hosts! The cabin is clean, quiet, and filled with unexpected touches that make for such a comfortable stay. We didn't get a chance to use all of the amenities (hot tub, outdoor kitchen, etc.) on the property but we will next time. Other than home, our dogs have never been so happy and relaxed. We loved being in such a critter-friendly environment!

    Jazette2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle’s s and Don’s place was perfect. It was very quiet and relaxing. We were very warmly welcomed by Don. Then Don gave us the tour as soon as we settled in. The outside kitchen was stocked with everything you could ever need and the hot tub was great! The horses and goats were a pleasure to be around. We had a great time and would go back immediately if we could. We even took the dogs. Which was really amazing to have them welcomed and treated so well. There we’re doggie treats, blankets, poo bags and even a fenced area for them. Thanks again and we’ll see you soon.

    Mona2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Don and Michelle go above and beyond to create a comfortable experience. The many small touches show that they care and take pride in being hosts. I really enjoyed meeting the animals, lounging in the hot tub, and getting use of the outdoor kitchen (I worked out there on my laptop.) Communication was easy and they graciously & quickly followed up on any of my questions and requests. They are really wonderful people! The only thing I would say is that if you are planning on working online during your stay and need fast & consistent wifi, talk to Michelle first about your needs. I was having some issues on and off, which Michelle worked quickly to help me resolve. I recommend letting her know ahead of time so that she can anticipate your needs --for me, I needed to turn off my VPN (which apparently doesn't work well on a DSL network) and re-start the modem now and then. Thanks Don and Michelle!

First and formost: There is NO bathroom located inside of your private unit, only living and sleeping quarters with a kitchenette (refrigerator & cooktop) so you will have to come into the house to shower, ect. Please do not let that discourage you from booking as these suites are very private and accommodating. If you need a place to sleep, study or just want to spend sometime watching tv and relaxing then this is the right spot for you. We feel the value is second to none, come see for yourself!
We live on a dead end road in the county so it is private. We are one mile from the freeway on-ramp and close to Lake Samish.

  • Great place, fantastic location and amenities. Loved the space

    Kira2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice trip away from the house for the weekend!

    Justice2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Place is great! The road to get there is pretty rough but I was able to get there and back no problem in a little sedan. Hosts provided perfect instructions to house. House itself was adorable and well maintained. Everything was as advertised. A Bed has a super soft pillow top on it that was a wonderful surprise. Bathtub does take about an hour to fill up but was big enough for two comfortably and the water was warm enough to have steam coming off it the whole time we were In it. There were houses on either side but no one staying there at the time so it felt very secluded. Duck house outside was super cute.

    Travis2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved our time here - the bed is SUPER comfy, the entire place feels like home, and the location is perfect! Highlight was definitely using the tub every chance we had, especially with the sound of the stream running through the woods down below. Will definitely be returning!

    Thomas2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spot in the woods! The cabin was super clean and setting is amazing. Highly recommend it if you’re looking for some peaceful forest time.

  • We had such a great get away to this little cabin in the woods, we would do it again!

    Emily2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • This little cabin is quite a gem! I really enjoyed my nice, quiet stay. Be sure to use the tub, but plan ahead -- it takes an hour to fill.

  • Loni and Alana’s cottage was a perfect spot for a weekend getaway! Very clean with thoughtful extras. The location is great for a peaceful visit and close enough to downtown to enjoy the restaurants and breweries. Alana was very communicative and available if needed. Our pup also loved the big yard!

  • Such a lovely little spot up in Bellingham. We were only there for a short night, but I wish we could have stayed much longer to relax there and go into the city.

    Melissa2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great replace for a relaxing retreat. We were close enough to Bellingham to visit some breweries and enjoy the city's parks, but it still felt like our own special hideaway. Would love to return in the spring and fall and take advantage of the deck and outdoor seating overlooking the pond.

    Alison2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • These two are perfect hosts! Communicative, thoughtful, and understanding. Lots of little personal touches throughout the cottage that truly made it wonderful. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway, I highly recommend.

  • I can't recommend this place enough! Clean and stylishly decorated, awesome radiant floor heating (awesome in cold temps), very quiet, gigantic shower with great water pressure and hot water that lasts, and the well water was delicious. It was super cute and modernly appointed. It feels isolated out in the country, but close to plenty of amenities (and also Mt Baker!). Highly recommended!

  • This small apartment is so tranquil and has just what you need for a getaway near the mountains in a beautiful farm-like setting. We enjoyed beautiful hikes near by and appreciated directions to meal and hike locations provided by the host. Kitchen essentials are perfect for breakfast, keeping lunch on hand or warming up leftovers. The bathroom is spacious and everything is very tastefully decorated. The vibe is so relaxing.

  • Fantastic - perfect. The most gracious hosts, the most delightful house in a beautiful and very peaceful setting. Everything is of the highest possible standard: the marble-topped sink, the woodwork, the blinds, the towels, the bed-linen, the shower-gel, the snacks and coffee provided - the list just goes on and on. Add to all that a delicious vegetarian breakfast provided in the morning and, well... I absolutely loved it here. Barb and Erika’s place really is quite exceptional, and quite a find. I’d go a long way out of my way just to stay there again (and I live in England...).

    Nick2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful, comfortable, welcoming. The perfect little get away! Great breakfasts and all hosts were wonderful--furry and human.

    Chris2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was our third stay with with Barb and Erica. Each time our experience was great and we plan to stay again in May.

    Arlene G2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Barb and Erika were so wonderful and made a brief weekend get away even more special. Great recommendations for hiking trails and restaurants for dinner, two adorable Australian Shepard's greeting us at the door, convenient parking, full amenities (and private bathroom!) and a night at a lovely Oasis out in nature. Barb even prepared us a full breakfast spread in the morning: hot coffee, roasted potatoes, and a Dutch baby pancake with homemade lemon curd and fruit compote. We were spoiled!

    Sarah2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place is RAD! It was great speaking to Barb and Erika as well. A nice mother and daughter team. The house is GIGANTIC, and the room is very private and quiet, with its own full bathroom. Also, Barb's breakfasts are no joke. She spoils you! Loved staying here.

    Alex2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is the second time we stayed with Barb and Erica in the last few months, and we loved the entire experience. We are looking forward to returning in a few months.

    Arlene G2019-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • By far my favorite Airbnb I've stayed at. Barb is beyond hospitable. She woke up every morning and made me a lovely vegan breakfast before I had to go to work. My room was clean and comfy. Her property was beautiful and my german Shepard also had a great stay with her and her pets.
