  • We loved it. We had a family of 5; the three kids each had a spacious room; it was quiet and comfy and a great base. The corner shop is just down the road; handy; and we spent a beautiful afternoon at the castle ruins and played cards and picnicked on the beautiful beach at Ardtoe. Beautiful area.

Lochside, is modern bungalow, located in a stunning highland setting, with views of west end of Loch Shiel and the hills of Moidart. If you are looking to get away from it all relax, then look no further. The area is a quiet, and rich in wildlife with deer, red squirrels, otters, and eagles. Explore nearby you have: great places to dine, castles, fassinating local history, local white beaches; the Isles of Skye, Mull, and Inner Hebrides; Glenfinnan, Fortwilliam, and great for outdoor activities.
Lochside, set in the heart of the west coast, but with all the modern comforts! There's plenty of wildlife and can be viewed from the comfort of the living room and a log burning stove. You can watch birds on the loch, and if you're lucky, even the otter, or sea eagle are known to make an appearance! Yet, for those that require it, the house is well equipped with wifi BT broadband, Sky TV, and for most providers there is a decent mobile signal. The dining area adjacent to the living room comfortably seats 8 and has french doors, on to the rear sheltered patio which is ideal for a barbeque and catching the last of the evening sun. The main bathroom has a decent bath and separate walk in shower. The two bedrooms to the front have lovely views of the loch and one bed is king size. The Master bedroom, has a king size bed, and is en-suite with shower, basin and toilet. This bedroom and the fourth bedroom have views over the large wooded garden to the rear. All the beds are comfortable and decent quality bedding and towels provided. Additionally, there is a separate new games room, perfect for those who enjoy games such a Xbox 360, wii, pool, air hockey and darts! We think the Lochside is great value! especially for the family, and it can be taken for a week at a time during peak season (with change over day on a Saturday) or during off peak season, shorter more flexible stays can be arranged - (even during peak season depending on availability).
There are a multitude of things to do in this beautiful area of Scotland, It's a perfect location whether you love to walk, go to beaches, kayaking (some of the best to be found), cycle, fish or boat there's lots of things to do and see. There are also good number of good quality places to eat locally, with Cafe Tioram, Highlander cafe, Lochshiel hotel, Mingarry Park, Ardshealach and Salen Hotel all close by. Lochailort, Strontian and Kilchoan are also within driving distance where dinning is possible. There are beautiful white sandy beaches over looking the inner Isles, (often you have to yourselves). There's remote, beautiful walks, miles of cycling tracks, Kayaking nirvana on the Loch Shiel - Loch Moidart route, and nearby Castle Tioram the seat of Clan Ranald. Off course for many not to be missed Glenfinnan with its iconic railway viaduct (featured in the Harry Potter movie) is 45 minutes away. Arisaig is 35 minutes and Mallaig 45 minutes. Both stations for the steam train to Fortwilliam, or ferries can be accessed at both these ports, for visits to Skye and the Small Isles of Rum, Eigg and Muck (as well as wildlife tours for a chance to see Porpoises, Dolphins, Basking shark Mink whale). You may also make day trip(s) to FortWilliam the outdoor capital of the Highlands, with it's highly rated shops, cafes, pubs, restaurants, Glen Nevis distillery and Three Monkeys - climbing wall centre! Additionally, close by to the town you can try Nevis Range with it's Gondola, to the Snow goose restaurant (and winter ski range). Nevis range also being the Mountain Biking World Championships location! there are bike tracks to suit all levels. If walking is more your thing, then there's Ben Nevis (4410ft) and Glen Nevis (with Steal falls, forest walks/and more biking!). Please ask for further detail if needed.
  • Lovely, comfortable bungalow for 8 in a beautiful location. Stunning scenery and wonderful walks, whatever the weather. Our walk to Singing Sands and ferry trip to Mull were highlights. The people we met everywhere were super friendly, and the food fabulous. A special shout out is merited for the lovely service in the Acharacle shop. We would have loved to stay an extra week and look forward to a return visit! Thank you sincerely Iain and Amy.

Accommodation is on a working Croft by the sea and shore along with donkeys , sheep ,hens and various other pets. The area is ideal for walks, birdwatching and exploring the countryside. There is a pub, shop ,tearoom and restaurant about three miles away .There is no shower facility.

  • This will be one of our top favourite stays. Catherine Ann was friendly and helpful, was great chatting with her. The pod was cosy, clean and the view is brilliant too, fridge is a great touch as is the kettle. We Loved it from start to finish and so did our dogs! We'll be back 😊

    Karen2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • My second stay here and, again, it was great. The pod is a fantastic space, nice and warm with all you need for a cosy experience including pillows, kettle, tea, coffee and a fridge inside. There is a microwave for cooking with plates and cutlery provided in the utility room of the main house which is very convenient. The constant farm activities and animals wandering around in the adjacent fields is great. The view from the seating area to the front of the pod is spectacular across the hills and the sandy bay in front. Catherine Ann is a great host who will give you all the advice you need and is just nice to chat with. All in all, will definitely be back for a third visit in future and highly recommend a stay.

  • A comfy and well-equipped cabin in a beautiful remote part of western Scotland. Well worth making the journey for the outstanding hospitality and scenery. It was a bonus for us to see five deer crossing the loch in the gloaming - highly recommended!

    Michaela2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Cracking simple accommodation, fantastic views. If you get clear skies at night, fantastic views of the stars no light pollution.

    Euan2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little pod with beautiful views. A few donkeys as a neighbours, and goats and chickens roaming around just outside. Lovely! Catherine Anne was friendly and helpful, and also respected our privacy. Although no shower, clean and private bathroom and it was really handy to have a fridge in the pod, be able to park my car just by the side and running water. We enjoyed spending a few nights here and exploring the local area. Dog and child friendly

Cuil provides simplicity and seclusion. An off grid cottage on the shore of Loch Shiel, in Moidart in the Highlands of Scotland, the house sits at the end of a mile long track and is the perfect place to get away from everyday life.
Cuil is very basic, but extremely comfortable. It is very secluded. There is limited electricity from solar panels (enough to charge one laptop per day), the lighting is provided by wall mounted gas lamps. All the heating and hot water comes from the wood-burning stove in the living room/kitchen area. Wood and coal are provided and stored in a dry barn on site. There are also Calor Gas heaters as well if necessary. Water comes directly from a nearby stream. While the water appears coloured it is perfectly safe to drink. The is no shower, but a bathtub and sink. The house sits at the end of a pretty rough, one mile long track. This track is accessible by car, but must be driven slowly and carefully. By 4 wheel drive car or those with a large ground clearance the track to the house is easily accessible. The small garden surrounding the house is fully fenced in, so perfect for those with small children. The house comes equipped with all the necessary kitchen utensils and pots and pans, cutlery, crockery etc. While blankets and duvets are available, we ask guests to bring their own linen (sheets, duvet covers, pillow cases). We also ask guests to bring their own towels. There is a landline telephone in the house for emergencies and mobile reception is available within 100 metres of the house.
Moidart is a stunning area of the highlands, complete with mountains, forest, lakes and coast. There is a beautiful sandy beach at Kentra Bay, a 20 minute drive from the house. Good walks can be had straight out of the door from the house. The nearest village is Acharacle, 5 miles away, that has a well stocked shop, cafes and a pub. Fort William is the nearest big town, an hours drive away.
  • A magic, unique place. Peace, quiet and adventures! We stayed for two nights with our two kids on our way back from the small Isles and had a wonderful time exploring the hills, Loch and beaches... and the bookshelves at Cuil. This is a world away from a standard Airbnb house, but if you are prepared to bring the basics with you and put time into setting it up and closing it down, you'll be richly rewarded. A soul-affirming place in an incredible location.

    Sophia2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • stunning nature. we were cozy with a fire. we enjoyed the books and coffee!

    Martha2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place for a break but be prepared to be self sufficient. We all enjoyed the efficient lighting burner and comfy beds as well as the silence. Paul and our dog loved the swimming. The only real downside for us was the farmers track which used up a lot of fuel in our loaded elderly Ford so although I would book again for longer it would be with other transport.

    Susan2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as it appears in the pictures. A perfect retreat for a digital detox.

    Andrew2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very special place of peace and tranquility. Go expecting adventure if it’s your first time. I was nervous about the access as we went in a time of heavy rain, but my Fiesta managed the track fine going slowly. There are instructions to follow for electricity and the fridge etc, but once we’d worked them out we were very comfortable. The setting is stunning and the garden with delicious raspberries is beautiful. Our dog found this, and charging around by the loch, a joy. The cottage had everything we needed for a restful recharging of cooking, reading, eating and watching the rain. I would love to go back for longer and be able to do more walking in the hills. The jigsaw is fun! We loved the photos of the house and mountains in different seasons and reading the experiences of other guests. Sara’s information is fantastic and she’s cares for her guests. Thank you for sharing your special space.

    Jennifer2019-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is an ideal location for a get-away-from-it-all stay! A beautiful secluded spot where we could really switch off. The garden was wonderful to sit out and we sampled the many raspberries and black currants that were growing. It was cool enough in the evening for us to light the stove which made the cottage extra cosy. Loved it.

Reached along a tree-lined avenue, this cottage of comfort and character, originally the dairy for the estate, enjoys a secluded setting with its own garden.
Where a tree-lined glen opens out onto Loch Moidart and in countryside steeped with tales of Bonnie Prince Charlie, The Dairy stands upon the Kinlochmoidart Estate, within half a mile of the coast and 4 miles from the beach at Glenuig. The Dairy occupies a marvellous position amidst some of Scotland’s most magnificent West Highland scenery.
Just a short walk away from the house lies Loch Moidart, where vast expanses of sand are thrown up by the sea at low tide. At the seaweed end of this beautiful inlet, sit the ancient ruins of 14th century clan Castle Tioram (once the stronghold of the Lord of the Isles), providing a focal point for gloriously scenic views. Between nearby Loch Shiel and Loch Sunart, a trail leads through the Ariundle Oakwoods Nature Reserve – a haven for wildlife – whilst southwards, the coast is punctuated by bays of white sand, excellent for fishing and shell-collecting, or admiring the views over hill, loch and sea. Fort William, the gateway to Ben Nevis, is a scenic drive away, and the Western Isles, Skye and Ardnamurchan are all accessible.
  • The Dairy is a great little cottage set in beautiful location. It is very clean, well equipped and very comfortable. In sum, a great place to explore Loch Moidart and surrounding area from.

    Rebecca2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Such a fantastic little gem. So glad we found this place. We stayed over Christmas here and found the kitchen was well equipped for cooking a full Christmas dinner. Log burner gave the place a great atmosphere and was stocked well with plenty of wood. Plenty of routes for walking off the Christmas dinner and saw some deer and birds of prey not far from the grounds. We’re already talking about coming back closer to summer to see the mountains in their full glory.

  • Great little cosy cottage with everything you need. Lovely location and it was so clean

    Lisa2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a fantastic stay at The Dairy House. The space is as described, clean and well stocked with all the amenities for self catering. Fresh cut flowers and stocked dry wood for the stove were prepared for our arrival. Communication was clear and quick and an easy check-in and out is always appreciated. I would recommend you do your shopping in Fort William as local shops are quite limited. Don’t plan to have phone or network access but this place is about getting away from it all, after all.

    Ryan2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • A peaceful get away in an impressive setting of a well managed house and estate. Good local walks around the grounds and plenty of nearby attractions. The old Dairy is a haven of calm. Thank you Emma.

  • Stunning and totally idyllic little cottage in the grounds of Kinlochmoidart house. No WiFi or signal but that was the beauty of it. We felt totally relaxed from the moment we arrived. Cozy log burner which was fired up and ready to go when we arrived. Lovely little touches from the host. Stunning walks from the doorstep. Well equipped and secluded. Can highly recommend.

    Keith2019-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • we had an amazing stay in the Dairy Cottage, the scenery is spectacular, the cottage cute and cosy. We all loved it and hope to return one day. The caravanns are a stone throw away from the River Shiel and five minutes from the sea annd are a perfect base for exploring Ardnamurchan Peninsula, Moidart, Sunart and Nevis Range
  • We had a wonderful stay at Eilidh's caravan - it was a cosy, spotlessly clean base for exploring the area and Eilidh's hospitality is second to none.

  • We are just back from a lovely few nights stay at Eilidh's caravan. Very remote and quiet which was exactly what we were looking for. Made to feel very welcome. Caravan has everything you could need or want (apart from wifi/3g, but we were happy to be away from that for a few days!). The kids loved the chickens, turkeys and ducks!

  • Eilidh and Stuart are wonderful hosts - friendly and helpful. We arrived to a lovely welcome and a tasty home-made cake was sitting on the table waiting for us. The caravan is situated in a really quiet spot just a couple of miles from local shop, cafes and hotels. All in all the perfect place to base yourself for exploring the stunning Ardnamurchan peninsula.

Victorian coach house in sunny, secluded location, with wood burning stove, hill walking, fly fishing and sailing all close by.
In a sunny and secluded location, this stone-built, Victorian coach house with its own garden offers attractive, comfortable accommodation. Very comfortably furnished, cosily heated and well-equipped throughout. The Coach House provides the perfect holiday retreat for which this area is blessed at all times of the year.
  • The Coach House is a great place to stay. Apart from having everything you need it also gives you the feeling of travelling back in time and experiencing a bit of history. We would love to come back.

    Johannes2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • The Coach House is well situated for walks into the hills or coastline just a short drive away and there are even walks from right outside the front door, this was perfect for us with our German Shepherd. The owners had everything ready for our arrival including 'a ton' of logs and kindling next to the excellent wood burner. The kitchen has everything that is needed for cooking meals, the whole cottage was immaculate on our arrival, the bed extremely comfortable. The hosts do not bother you but you know that they are just across the way in the big house should you require anything. My wife and I cannot think of any negatives for this accommodation and would thoroughly recommend it for short or long stays in this amazing area of Scotland.

    Jeffrey2019-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous and very comfortable cottage in a magical spot. So quiet, so beautiful and delightful hosts.

    Harriet2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Coach House is in a fantastic location near the castle. It is perfectly quiet - with the disadvantage of having no reception. The trails start right behind the house - in a beautiful landscape. The house is very tastefully decorated and we were warmly welcomed on a rainy day with a fire in the woodburning stove and fresh eggs. The peninsula Adnamurchan with the lighthouse at the top we liked it very much.

    Michaela2019-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • The coach house is lovely - spacious yet cosy, and in a beautiful setting. Worth noting that there is no internet / signal in the area, so it's a good idea to plan ahead where you might want to visit, buy food etc. All in all a perfect house from which to explore the West Coast of Scotland. Would definitely recommend!

Situated on our small croft and to the rear of our house, with stunning views of Ben Resipole. Our caravan is spacious, clean, comfortable and cosy. It has easily adjustable central heating, and a kitchen/dining area with dishwasher. Kentra Bay is just a 5 minute walk and the little, white sandy beaches of Ardtoe, a few minutes by car. An ideal getaway and base for exploring the breathtaking Ardnamurchan Peninsula, Loch Sunart and Moidart. The small village of Acharacle is a 3 mile drive away.
Please note that due to it's rural location, there is no internet in the caravan and little, or no mobile signal on the croft! Depending on your network provider, signal can be picked up just along the road and at various points in the village. However, in an emergency, you can use the phone in our house. We hope that you will enjoy the privacy in and around the caravan. There is a second caravan adjacent which we are refurbishing at present and hope to have ready for Spring/Summer 2020. A selection of games and books are provided for your use. We have 5 chickens and our dog Luna, who all have their own areas to roam, which are separate from the caravan.
Newton is a remote rural community surrounded by beautiful rugged hills, at the top of which, you will find stunning views out to the Atlantic. Cows are farmed in the neighbouring croft and sheep roam the area freely. Sightings of deer are common and there is an abundance of other wildlife in the area. Acharacle has a well stocked shop/post office; tearoom; craft shop, hotel and restaurant.
  • superb luxury mobile home, like new in the depths of SCOTLAND

  • The location and caravan were perfect for our quiet family holiday. The books and games were lovely for our two girls. Deer, beaches and a friendly welcome made a fantastic stay. Thankyou!

  • Comfortable, clean, friendly accomodation all set in an amazing wildlife and outdoor activity, West Coast location at an affordable price...Thank you!

  • A wonderful place to stay, Jackie is a fabulous host. The caravan is very warm, cosy and very well appointed with fantastic views of the surrounding area. Expect to hear and see wildlife from the windows, the deer were rutting when we visited and you could hear and see the magnificent displays of the stags in the hills as well as seeing grey heron in the surrounding moorland. There are loads of walks that you can do straight from the caravan or just a short drive away and the cafe (Cafe Tioram) and the gift shop (next to the general store) in Acharacle are fab.

    Stuart2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, lovely accomodation and exceptional host.

    Natalie2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location. So much on the doorstep to see. The accommodation is spotless and very comfortable. It is a very stylish caravan, with extra personal touches adding to the welcoming feeling. Time has been taken to produce a very informative handbook of local places to visit. There are beautiful walks, beaches, lochs and rivers a short drive away. We would love to go back.

    Chris2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is a new, spacious static caravan, literally in the middle of nowhere but in the best part of nowhere! It is very well-appointed and Jackie leaves lots of written tips for the area along with a lovely welcoming pack. You will see deer in the nearby fields, have nice walks along the nearby coast, you can use it as a base for exploration by car. The hosts are warm, helpful and unobtrusively there if you need them. There is no wifi or phone coverage (you can get phone cover by walking mins to the beach), but there is a freebox tv providing lots of channels and radio. It is excellent value for money and we were sorry to leave.

    Brian2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • I recommend this a place to stay for everyone, absolutely amazing and thorough thoughtfulness with perfect hospitality. They had their own farmed eggs for us, even a cake made to arrival! The place was meticulously clean and spotless. They gave us milk, bread, felt spoilt! No worrying about needing to buy things immediately on arrival. The beds smelt nice, the shower gels smelled nice and the towels were soft and warm. All you need to take is a shampoo and the rest is a wonderful, relaxing experience with stunning sunrises behind the caravan. Thank you very much, Jackie for being the best host! Our whole group was touched.

Laga Cottage at Laga Bay , Glenborrodale is located on the remote Ardnamurchan peninsula , a beautiful wilderness area on the West coast of the Highlands with access to hills, sea and wildlife. The Cottage is unique with views of the sea and access to Loch Sunart. It is best used by smaller numbers so couples / two or three adults but also for families with younger children . To explore the area fully transport is advisable but the cottage is good to relax in and as a base to walk and cycle.
This is a very pretty old cottage around 100 years old , which has retained many unique features. It is light and airy in summer and cozy with a wood burner for Autumn and Winter nights. It has a cozy sitting room with TV and DVD player, stove with a supply of fuel , 2 bedrooms, kitchen and modern shower room. There is a lovely sea facing sheltered area to sit outside and an enclosed garden to keep dogs and children safe
There are several other homes nearby but the area is generally remote and very quiet. The Salen Jetty shop is a well stocked shop and cafe which you will pass on your way , 4 miles before Laga. It is open 7 days a week. There are excellent places to eat in Acharacle, Strontian , Mingarry and Kilchoan , as well as the Salen Inn which is the closest to Laga. There are also many beautiful beaches to visit on the peninsula , including Sanna , the Singing Sands , Dorlin and Ardtoe beach . There is also easy access to Tobermory on Mull via the affordable hourly Kilchoan Ferry link. You will see Red deer, the resident Pine Martin and the immediate area hosts a Golden Eagle , otter and much more if you observe for long enough . There is an interesting wildlife centre at Glenmore , some 3 miles west , where you can learn about the area and have lunch or coffee. There are boat trips available on both Loch Shiel and Loch Sunart , trips to Staffa to see all kinds of sea and bird life possible In the summer months , catching fish from the pier is a favourite and some of the local estates have trout fishing available . The area is great for walking , cycling, fishing , kayaking , stunning beaches and generally just appreciating rural life .
  • We had a wonderful week away at Laga Cottage. The cottage was spacious and had everything we needed. Mairi and Johnny were excellent hosts and even offered to help us out when we thought our rental car might fall through. The location was great, we went on a number of scenic walks within a short drive and went on day trips to both Mull and Skye. The highlands were beautiful. It was a perfect place for a quiet, relaxing week away. If you're new to driving in Scotland, make sure to read up on the road rules about single track roads. There are a number of these around the cottage, which might be a bit of a surprise initially if you're not used to them.

    Sara2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really fantastic cottage in the most beautiful location - a great place to get away from it all. We saw seals and eagles the fishing was good. The support we received from Mairi & Johnny was superb they went above and beyond nothing Wes too much trouble - it made the holiday for us.

    Mark2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Laga Bay cottage is a beautiful and cozy house to stay in the Ardnamurchan, near the best places of the Peninsula. Mairi and Johnny are helpful and careful. We recomend this holiday.

    Massimo2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • A home from home. We were here nearly a week and it seemed too short. Directions and entry with a lockbox were straightforward. The whole place was squeaky clean when we arrived. The bathroom is big and the standalone shower is knockout. Beds are comfy the quiet at night is remarkable. We used the wood burner a couple of nights and it heats the place beautifully- would definitely keep the place toasty in the autumn/winter. The kitchen is well equipped, the hob and oven work great and there was plenty of room in the fridge, freezer and on the counters for storage. We brought groceries with us but you won’t have a problem getting anything you need from the Salen Jetty shop down the road. Being able to walk down to the bay with the dog whenever we wanted was fantastic. We took outings to Sanna, Castle Tioram and Forestry Commission marked walks- all highly recommended. As expected in a rural place, the WiFi doesn’t hold up for long for streaming movies or TV (podcasts and radio was fine) but, in a first for us at an Airbnb, the DVD collection is really good! We managed to get a huge amount of reading done too- the sitting room, porch and lawn are all perfect places for quiet reading. Mairi and Johnny’s communication was great and we were made to feel very welcome. Definitely our favourite holiday Airbnb to date.

  • Have just had the best week ever in Scotland at the beautifully located cottage. We had exceptional weather, blue cloudless skies plus lovely and warm and hardly any midges!!. The cottage is in a great location offering walks right on the doorstep plus access to all the best beaches at Sanna and Singing Sands plus we were also able to get around to the the beatiful beach and dunes at Cul na Croise due to the low tide https://www.wildlochaber.com/ardnamurchan/wildlife/cul-na-croise Would recommend this cottage to anyone!

  • The cottage is comfortable and well equipped in a great location. If you want to lounge around there is a nice sitting area outside where you can enjoy views of the loch below. You might even catch sight of deer passing by. If you enjoy walking up mountains there is one just 50 yards up the road. The cottage is a great base to explore a region which has so much to offer.

The Tower is a wonderful location for a holiday for 2 and you are welcome to bring your dog. Peace and quiet but in a great location to explore the Ardnamurchan peninsula and further afield. Enjoy a walk to the local pub for a meal or a walk to the local shop to stock up on supplies and enjoy a mid morning coffee and a paper. We supply everything you need to enjoy your week, just bring food and maybe a bottle or 2. Everyone is welcome.
  • Angela's Place was awesome, perfect for what we needed for a short weekend Break. The communication ahead, during and after our trip was great. It made everything really easy. We are likely to head back to explore the area more.

  • Enjoyed a fantastic New Year at The Tower. Despite leaving it to the last minute to book, we received swift and detailed replies from Angela that allowed us to make the trip down on Hogmanay. The accommodation was a high standard, but still felt very homely. It was also very warm which was appreciated at this time of year. Great location for bringing the dog. Watched the fireworks over the loch from the rooftop balcony, then returned indoors to the fireside. Couldn't have asked for a better start to 2019.

  • We had an absolutely lovely stay at Wilma and Graham’s. The caravan is in a perfect place to walk to the bay and to see stars at night. We were even lucky enough to see three shooting stars! If we are ever travelling in the area again, and I really really hope we are then we will happily stay here again .

  • We spent one night in this caravan and it was such a fun time. It fit 6 adults just fine. We made dinner as the kitchen had everything provided and spent the night playing some cards! The internet hot spot worked perfectly and we were able to book our adventures for the next day! Would definitely recommend.

    Anne2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • The place is amazing and Wilma and her family even better, they helped us with all our needs and made our stay perfect. The caravan is perfect for 6 people, with big living room and bathroom. Really good choice if you need accommodation on the area.

  • Mobile home located in the garden of the owners, at the end of the world (in the good sense of the word!). View of the river and sheep. Mobile home well done, living room with lots of windows so light. Cute private garden, possibility of barbecue (but too windy when we were there). Ideal location to enjoy the surrounding nature and the peninsula.

It’s great for families as she also provided a cot and high chair. It is quite a distance from Fort Williams but the drive and view along the way is spectacular. Tarbet Lodge is set back from the road in very quiet and peaceful surroundings where you often see wildlife including deer, otter, eagles and many other species of birds and marine life. There is a lot to offer on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula and the Lodge is a great base from which you can explore the area. You can go walking, kayaking, cycling, fishing, or just sightseeing. Ardnamurchan lighthouse is the most westerly point of the UK mainland and there are many secluded beaches to enjoy.
Tarbet Lodge offers an open plan kitchen diner/lounge area looking out over Loch Sunart. There is a decked sun porch where you can happily sit in all weather and watch the world go by. Ample parking on a gravel drive and garden space to relax.
200 yards away you will find the Salen Jetty shop which has a good selection of food, drink and household items. There is also a grocery shop in Acharacle and one in Strontian. Within a ten mile radius there are excellent restaurants selling locally produced food. Ancient castles such as Castle Tioram are within easy driving distance. The Ariundle Oakwoods and lead mines are in nearby Strontian. For climbers and hill walkers there are hills ranging from easy walks to challenging mountains. For sea anglers the nearby Salen Marina has launching facilities for those wishing to bring their own boat. The area is famous for its kayaking and sea canoeing where marine life is abundant. It is also a favourite area for divers as the area is a marine protected zone, complete with kelp forests and great clarity of water. Nearby Glenfinnan is a must for all Harry Potter fans wishing to see both the viaduct and the Harry Potter steam train, the Jacobite Steam Train journey from Fort William to Mallaig is a great experience, even if you don't like Harry Potter it is a scenic must. Tobermory, known to children as Ballymory, is just a short ferry journey away and is famous for both its multicoloured houses and its seafood restaurants, it is also a base for whale watching tours. There is the Tobermory distillery to visit and there is also the Ardnamurchan distillery back on the Peninsula ten minutes drive from Tarbet Lodge. Also worth a visit is the Natural History Centre, near the Ardnamurchan distillery, which has an excellent coffee shop and gift shop as well as a display of local information which is free entry. Dark night skies for star gazing and stunning sunsets make this area special.
  • This is an absolute gem of a place. Great location for walking, kayaking, fishing, and a bar/restaurant in walking distance. We would recommend here for anyone who wants to visit and explore the area.

This means that it is centrally located and ideally placed for you to discover all that beautiful Ardnamurchan and its surrounding area offer.
  • House very well equipped, clean, pleasant, located in a beautiful green and quiet. Owner very attentive and responsive. To advise for nature lovers, beautiful isolated place, perfect!

  • Once you discover the Ardnamurchan peninsula you will want to return again and again. Don't expect bright lights and to be entertained constantly. The Ardnamurchan is a beautifully stunning area of tranquillity and exploration. You will see white sandy beaches with turquoise seas, moors, mountains, lochs and some amazing wildlife you may not have seen before. We were fortunate enough to wake up most mornings to see the herd of deer in the adjoining fields. Some days they were brave enough to come for a 'rich tea' biscuit. I luckily saw a pine marten by the roadside, however I did try and entice them but think the weather was against us. We saw the sea eagles and fortunately on the last day an otter so now we know the hotspots to see them. Woodside Cottage is in a super location, very well appointed with plenty of amenities , you can very easily prepare a meal if you want, extremely comfy beds and very warm when it's blowing a storm. The location is perfect for exploring along the coast to Mallaig or inland to all the many lochs and the most westerly point of mainland Scotland (what a lovely drive that is).

  • Fantastic location for exploring the surrounding area and great being so close to Acharacle for shops/amenities. The deer & other wildlife were a treat to watch from the living room/decking. We had the deer close to our fence on a couple of occasions - very special. Cottage has everything you could wish for; very well equipped. Tony was very quick to respond to messages and a great host. Would highly recommend this property & would definitely book again in the future. We had a fabulous first family holiday with our 11 week old baby :) Thanks Tony!

  • Woodside - A perfect place to stay and for a base to explore Ardnamurchan; We would highly recommend this home new on the holiday rental market. Views from the sitting room and decking area across to high hills and the shield glen. Deer feeding in the burn at the bottom of the garden. Heating was quite excellent and the house felt warm. Hot water also always available. The house is clean and the kitchen entirely newly equipped. The double bed and the single bed we used were very comfortable. Great walks/or bike rides from the house - to the mouth of the Sheil river where there is a castle, or to Ardtoe where two lovely beaches with white sands, or to the singing sands via Kentra bay. Recommend you take most of the food you want to use yourselves as shops are few and far between. A very good restaurant is 100meters away - and you can stock up on venison for home next to the restaurant. The file with info is comprehensive and helpful.

Set next to Kinlochmoidart House, but completely self-contained, with its own front door, this elegant and spacious property boasts a wealth of period features.
The Scottish Baronial mansion of Kinlochmoidart House, occupies a marvellous position amidst some of Scotland’s most magnificent West Highland scenery. It has been sensitively formed into three residences; Leiper offers the largest accommodation of the conversion of an extensive former service wing. Bottom Floor: - Large, Farmhouse-style kitchen/dining room: Aga, Electric oven, Microwave, Dishwasher, Fridge/freezer - Single bedroom - Cloakroom with toilet -Utility room: Washing Machine and Tumble Dryer First floor: - Spacious drawing room with open fire - Twin bedroom - Bathroom Second Floor: - Two double bedrooms - Twin bedroom - Bathroom
  • The castle is magical and my children loved the grounds and waterfall. We spent a wonderful Christmas here and Emma had put tree in the lounge for us. The original features of the castle had been carefully restored and there were a few photos in the house showing what the owners had done to it. The kitchen had everything we needed to make a Christmas lunch. For an old castle it was surprisingly warm and if we hadn’t been warm, they had provided plenty of blankets and even electric blankets! There really was no WiFi but it made us properly unwind. The local area was wild and stunning. We spotted deer and seals and were happy to explore the area. I Would definitely recommend and return to this wonderful home.

  • It was lovely to have the opportunity to make ourselves at home in the spacious, historic surroundings inside and out. We loved the hot baths, crisp cotton sheets, cosy warmth of the house, the beautiful views and gardens, and the relaxing sound of waterfalls and hens! The surrounding area is idyllic.

This is a newly renovated shore side cottage at Laga Bay looking onto Loch Sunart from south facing windows. The house is fully modernised with 3 bedrooms , a shower room , bathroom , 2 sitting rooms and kitchen . Electricity is from farm hydro power and there are 2 wood stoves and a supply of wood. It is well located to explore Ardnamurchan peninsula and for wildlife including red and roe deer , otters , eagles and pine martin. For more information our website west of the rat race describes .
The farm house was completely renovated over the last few years , finished in spring 2019 to create a modern , warm house immediately by the sea. There is ample space with two sitting areas, one a cozy room where the tv and dvd with large selection of films is located and a bigger bright room with a wooden floor . The views from all windows are spectacular and you can just sit looking out to sea or up to the mountain behind. Both lounges have wood fuelled stoves and a supply of fuel. The 3 bedrooms are freshly decorated and modern and the kitchen is new and well equipped with oven, hob, dish washer , full size freezer , fridge and microwave. The house is ideal for 2 couples to share but yet have own separate space . It is also good for a family holiday for either young children or teenagers. Whilst the house is listed as three double beds , the king size can be split into two singles and the small double bed could accommodate two but ideally suited to just one person as the room is smaller. The property can accommodate 6 , but it is better suited to 5 for the most relaxing time as one of the bedrooms is fairly small and has a small double bed. The other two are large and well suited to two people .
This is a very rural location, some 40 miles from Fort William on the Ardnamurchan peninsula . It is good location to explore the area as well as easy access to Tobermory on the Kilchoan ferry link. The main attractions of Laga Bay are getting away from it all, walking , watching wildlife . It is an ideal location for kayaking and easy to launch from just in front of the house. There is safe storage for kayaks inside the farm buildings . The area has beautiful beaches , walks in oak and mixed broadleaved woodland , open hill and lochs . There are several cafes , pubs and excellent restaurants in adjacent communities, the nearest being 4 miles away at Salen.
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Laga Farm. Mairi and Johnny are great hosts and give you lots of advice and tips on local on things around the house. The house is very warm and beautiful. There are lots of kitchen utensils that enable you to cook fantastic meals. Extremely beautiful scenery - so close to the sea! Thank you so much for having us

  • A wonderful farmhouse property in a perfect lochside setting, offering a combination of real cosiness with modern touches. Despite being away from the area during our visit, the hosts were attentive, checking in with us part-way through our stay to make sure everything was OK. We are already planning our next visit...

    Neil2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a truly special place. Mairi and Johnny are great hosts, and the house is very clean, comfortable, cosy and warm. The location is just perfect - an ideal base for exploring beautiful Ardnamurchan, but also a lovely place to sit and relax in. We loved looking at the beautiful views over the loch, and sitting watching the weather from the light, large sitting room, feeling totally immersed in the landscape. The location is off the beaten track, the house is peaceful and secluded but easy to find, and we thoroughly enjoyed getting away from it all. The house is newly renovated and well decorated, and is very well equipped with everything you need - and more. We really enjoyed the woodburners which kept the place extra cosy. There is plenty of hot water, and a powerful shower too. We had a fabulous, relaxing holiday and just wish we could have stayed longer. We can't wait to return!

    Jo2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful location with gorgeous views across the loch. A fantastic fire place that kept the house toast warm. Wonderful.

    Amelia2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is very nice, large and beautifully decorated. But Mairi and Johnny hospitality make your experience even nicer. We highly recommend this to anyone who wants a nice vacation (either relaxing or adventurous).

  • Brilliant location, lovely cosy, clean house. Everyone slept brilliantly. Thank you!

    Lily2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Laga Farm is a newly renovated farmhouse, located in a beautiful setting, right on the water. An ideal place to find peace and really good off. From Glenborrodale / Laga you can reach many beautiful places well, it is a good starting point for fantastic walks and activities on / in the water. Seals can be watched from the armchair. The peninsula Ardnamurchan is beautiful and not crowded, but very diverse. The tourist offer is rather manageable, but absolutely sufficient - this is the charm of the area. Purchases for daily needs are well possible in small shops in Salen or Acharacle, a larger supermarket does not exist - but this does not bother. A car is recommended. The house has been lovingly renovated and modernized. One learns a bit of the history of the house through old photographs and partly antique furniture. The house "lives" and you feel very well. Everything was still updated, the two bathrooms are perfect, heating and 2 stoves are available, the beds are comfortable and there are 3 bedrooms. Also the WiFi works perfectly. The kitchen is functionally equipped and outside it is just as nice as it can be seen in the photos. A small area is fenced, so that even small children can play safely despite the proximity to the water. Overall, we spent wonderful days here and can honestly highly recommend the house. Mairi and Johnny are perfect hosts, thank you again!

  • Our week at Laga Farm was one of our best family holidays ever. All 4 of us (2 adults and 2 children 8 and 10yrs plus our two dogs) had a blissful time. The house is spotlessly clean, spacious, very comfortable and totally private. The kitchen has everything you might need to cook proper meals and outside there is a fire pit for evening bbq’s. A few steps beyond the house is a stunning rocky beach. In the whole we one cyclist and a couple of walkers passed the house so it really is the place to come if you want to get away from it all! The beds are wonderful and we all slept better than we can remember on any other holiday. The main sitting room is the most idyllic room with picture postcard views over the loch. We spent much time in there as a family enjoying games of chess and cards and just being together. I didn’t want the week to end and already we are planning our next visit to Laga Farm! Thank you Johnny and Mairi for an excellent holiday!

  • We had a great time at Laga Lodge. The view over the loch is amazing and the balcony the perfect place to enjoy a coffee and let your eyes wander over the landscape. The lodge itself was cozy and had everything you need. Ardnamurchan was very beautiful and a good starting point for a daytrip to the Isle of Mull. The Ardnamurchan Distillery is definitely worth a visit, too and not very far from the accomodation.

    Katharina2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Second time we've stayed at Laga Lodge, and I'm sure we'll be back again - which says it all!

  • We had a wonderful 3 night stay at Allison. The apartment is very big with a great view of the loch sunart. It is well equipped, very clean and Allison is very welcoming. Renting a boat that you can drive yourself on the loch, skirting the seal families is an experience you'll never forget! Ardnamurchan is a magical and wild peninsula, there is a herd of deer, Sanna beach is a must.

  • Beautiful house with the most amazing views. We were lucky enough to see Pine Martens and badgers in the back garden as well as a whole host of birds. Being a family of 7 we often stay at places with 6 chairs/ plates/ forks, etc but there was no problem here, the house was stocked with everything a large family or a group could need. The house was spotlessly clean and the welcome hamper on arrival was a really lovely touch. We'd love to return to the area again in the future and would definitely look to stay here. We've already recommended to my parents to visit.

    Giles2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • We spent there 4 nights with our 2 kids. It was our best stay. We loved it. The incredible view, our kids had enough space to play and the very warm welcome from Eilidh with flowers and cake. Thank you so much.

    Sarah2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic quiet location for anyone wishing to enjoy some peace and quiet. Eilidh is very helpful and welcoming.

    Julie2019-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay, very secluded, if you like peace, you will love it. Eilidh is a great hostess, has lots of good tips and the caravan was a fun place to stay with a beautiful Riverview ! We hope to be back on this nice peninsula in Acharacle.

    Nicole2019-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Superb caravan, in an exceptionally quiet and peaceful setting. Expect views of the river, birdsong, hens and ducks, plus Tioram Castle just around the corner! Highly recommended!!

    John2019-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely warm welcome, a stunning, relaxing location; so, from the very beginning there is no doubt that this is going to be a memorable holiday. And so it was. A captivating combination of solitude, punctuated by the rhythm of crofting life: the sounds of chickens, ducks and Dexter cattle. The accommodation is cosy and well equipped. There are walks and strolls from the caravan up the river to the shore or across the moss to Kentra bay. Acharacle is close by for everyday essentials and sits quite centrally for visits in different directions. Peaceful: a place to catch your breath. A place you feel reluctant to leave.

    Nigel2019-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • Just as described, excellent rural setting, cosy with everything you need. Hosts friendly and helpful. Added bonus of the baby calf and chickens! Recommended.

  • Karen's place is very clean, spacious and in very quite area, the kids loved the farm behind, the sheeps were another attraction to them, our dog also enjoyed the walk beside the lake, from there we drove to Tobermory which was also good, the tips on the handbook given by Karen was very good and a nice touch since we would like to explore around, I do really recommend Karen's place to anyone that is in search of quietness and getting in touch with nature. Our three-bedroomed cottage sleeps six comfortably. It has a large living room, well equipped dining kitchen and is perfect as a starting point to explore Scotland's stunning Ardnamurchan Peninsula and surrounding area. Dogs welcome by arrangement.
Laundry Cottage was once the quarters for the laundry maids who worked in the 'big house', which sadly now no longer exists. It has been in our family since the 1980's and we have enjoyed many family holidays there. We have been welcoming guests since 2006. We will provide bed linen, but you will need to bring your own towels and toiletries. The cottage kitchen has everything you will need, including a fridge and freezer, oven and hob, microwave and washing machine. There is a dining area in the kitchen that seats 6. All kitchen and dining equipment is provided.
People come to Laundry Cottage to enjoy the beautiful scenery and wildlife, and to explore the area's castles and visitor attractions. The village has a shop, Post Office, cafe and restaurant / bar, and there are loads more visitor centres and places to eat and shop in the area, as well as many historical buildings and areas of outstanding natural beauty.
  • If you are looking for a place to have peace and quiet this is your ideal spot...although, if you are feeling adventurous, this is also your ideal spot. Lovely house, had everything you could need for your break, games, books, great kitchen. It's a very nice space and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to visit the local area.

  • The house is traditionally Scottish. Comfortable, clean, spacious and perfect for self catering. The kitchen is a wonderful social space to play board games on the table or chat the evening away. The sitting room is super comfortable and also a good space to relax. The area is stunning. Trip to Mull (Tobermory) from Kilchoan I'd highly recommend. Ferry for 5 passengers is stg25 plus stg17 if you want to bring the car. Called into PuffinCofee on the way back. (great coffee/tea). Acharacle cafes and Hotel very worthwhile. Plus Salen Hotel and Strontian Hotel.

  • Having first travelled to Acharacle 37 years ago with my parents I hadn't been back for 15 years. The cottage was close to where we stayed originally so was the main reason for staying there. The kitchen was better equipped than my one at home. The lounge comfortable and I am sure would be very cosy in winter with the fire. 3 good sized bedrooms and a bathroom complete the first floor. I WILL BE BACK.

Romantic hideaway for couples, in a truly romantic location, once the resting place of Prince Charles Edward Stuart during the 1745 Jacobite Rebellion.
The Scottish Baronial mansion of Kinlochmoidart House, occupies a marvellous position amidst some of Scotland’s most magnificent West Highland scenery. It has been sensitively formed into three residences; Glenfield, once home to the estates "Glenfield" generator, has been charmingly converted into a spacious, attractively furnished conversion. Glenfield provides the perfect holiday retreat for which this area is blessed at all times of the year.

The Turret provides the perfect holiday retreat for which this area is blessed at all times of the year.

  • Kinlochmoidart is a wonderful place and The Turret was a lovely house to stay in. It was very cosy with a great log-burning stove but also spacious with a lovely tiled hallway and impressive bookcases. The setting next to the main house is really quite spectacular at dusk and we saw the New Year in with style ! Local walks from Ardmorlich to Tiorum and to Smisirary highly recommended. Really no hesitation in recommending.

    Conor2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • The Turret is a beautiful place set in the most incredible and impressive setting. The accomodation is deceptively spacious and was wonderfully clean an arrival. The fresh eggs from the pedigree hens was a nice touch as was the fire being stocked and ready to light when we arrived - it was a cold frosty night. We will certainly return to The Turret in the future.

    Geoff2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great house and much bigger than the pictures suggest. Would definitely return.

  • We had a fantastic stay in The Turret. Location is amazing and the apartment was bigger than we were expecting from the photos. Can't wait to go back!

  • Kinlochmoidart House makes you feel like a fairytale. It is an old mansion in a beautiful park with old trees, ponds and chickens. You are in the middle of the loneliness of the Highlands and still live very comfortable, because the apartment is huge, very well equipped and exudes an old, domestic cosiness. You can make wonderful walks during the day and sit by the fireplace in the evening. Everything is clean and inviting. We are totally thrilled and will never forget this stay. It was something very special!

    Melanie2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, castle on the hillside, lost in nature. The apartment is clean, functional but above all gives the impression of going back in time. The whole gives a touch very Scottish and infinitely romantic stay.
