Laurel Canyon is the legendary rock 'n' roll neighborhood that was the epicenter of cool in the 1970s, with such musical residents as Jim Morrison and Joni Mitchell. Today, it retains its folksy authenticity in the midst of LA cool. Pick up munchies at the famous Canyon Store. Keep an eye out for celebrities while hiking at Runyon Canyon or shopping in Beverly Hills. Race the car along Mulholland Drive or the Sunset Strip. Or you can Uber your way to nightlife in WeHo or on the Sunset Strip.

Hi, I'm Eric Allen! Welcome to my home. I moved from Minnesota to California to work at Disneyland in the 1980s.... and stayed! I was a writer for USA Today, The Hollywood Reporter and others, covering movies, TV, music, Hollywood premieres and parties. There aren't many print journalism jobs in LA, so I switched to television and was a correspondent/producer for entertainment news at CNN in Hollywood, and then produced "Wild On" travel shows and other reality programming for E! Networks. Yes, I was paid to go to parties, interview celebrities and travel all over the world! But I kept getting laid off, so decided to go into business for myself! Now, I'm a TV producer who owns my own production company, Eric Allen Productions, specializing in video projects for non profit charitable causes, social media campaigns and luxury travel. When I'm not shooting video on a cruise ship -- and then editing it in my home studios in LA and Palm Springs -- I'm often hiking with my two retrievers, tinkering on a project at my house in the Hollywood Hills or enjoying my getaway in Palm Springs. It's a life I never dreamed of when I was growing up ... Pretty good for a kid from a 3000-person town in Minnesota! I say squeeze it all in while you can, because none of us knows how much time we have. I enjoy being an Airbnb host because it's fun to meet people from all over the world. Everybody has their unique reason they're venturing out of their box at home. I look forward to sharing my special getaway places in Hollywood and Palm Springs with others. As a former VIP Tour Guide at Disneyland, acting as the consummate host and offering travel tips to others comes second nature and is part of my DNA! THANK YOU for looking!
