The house is a traditional Normandy longhouse, made of granite, wood and tile. There are 185 square meters of indoor space. The farmhouse has been sensitively restored using traditional materials.

The location of La Pichardiere is in the heart of the Normandy countryside away from busy traffic and is set in a secluded two acre garden nestling in a corner of a regional park, equivalent to a National Park in UK.

I love its peacefulness and the presence of the natural world.

The space

La Pichardiere respects the past by remaining rustic and rural but has modern amenities. The house has underfloor heating downstairs (radiators upstairs) with a large log burning stove for cosy winter evenings.

For the warmer weather outside there are sun loungers, tables, chairs, sun-umbrella and a hammock for your use. The two acre garden has many trees (including one Spanish chestnut with a trunk circumference of six meters). There is plenty of open sunny lawn area and woodland paths for children to explore in safety.

Guest access

The whole house (except the store room next to the kitchen) and the whole of the outside space is accessible to the guests.
A 400m long circular path runs around the garden near the perimeter.

Interaction with guests

I will phone to check that everything is ok after your arrival. There is an emergency phone number to the local house managers Rob and Ruth if by some chance I am not available.

Other things to note

The farmhouse has no paved path to the front door, so in the winter, boots are a good idea and slippers for inside the house.

The washing machine and dryer are housed in the boiler room to the north of the building.

Just a suggestion:
Unless you are going out to a restaurant or arriving early, it's a good idea to bring or buy some food for the first evening since this saves having to go out again to the stores.

If you are looking for a cosy and peaceful place surrounded by nature, this is it! Everything was perfect. After picking some mushrooms around the house, We had nice evenings around the fireplace! David was very nice and available if needed by email and phone. We did not get the chance to meet him but everything was really well explained. We would definitly recommend this place! And why not come back...

Beautiful quiet location. Well equipped and comfortable. Not a huge amount to do locally but sites accessible by car. Note Lilly pound in garden so not for wandering small children

We stayed two nights in David's house with friends and had a very relaxing time. The house has everything you can expect and is cosy, decorated with taste and comfortable. Beddings are good and bedrooms are all very pretty. Kitchen is well fitted. The fire place makes the living room very cosy. The kitchen is well equipped. But the real added value of this place is the garden! Beautifully designed to have plenty of lovely spots to hide or relax or contemplate the truly amazing nature surrounding the house. Nature is staged at his best and some trees (a beautiful oak glowing like a sun and a leaning grand pear tree ready for take-off to the stars) left quite a impression on me. Thank you David! We will come back if we can for sure!

We had a lovely time in David's farmhouse and particularly - when the weather allowed - in his beautiful garden. Very quiet place, most convenient for family holidays. Missing Internet though, in particular for professional reasons, but we were lucky enough that roaming costs in Europe ended recently.

This is a wonderful place set rurally with so much lovely nature surrounding it. The house itself is extremely well appointed and has a very welcoming feel to it. David checked in with us to check we'd arrived safely and had everything we needed. We hope to return one day.
