About this listing

Your holiday could be spent in a fabulous, peaceful lodge, on a working dairy farm, which supplies the world famous Kerrygold butter factory with our grass fed cows milk. A bright, open living/kitchen area, looks out across our large lawn, across the Awbeg river, lush green fields & up to the rolling Ballyhoura mountains. Two spacious bedrooms and bathroom with shower. Free WiFi. Extremely child friendly with sky fort and enclosed back yard. Ideal, central base for touring around all of Ireland.

The space

The living/kitchen area has a double height ceiling, with double doors and windows over looking the expansive lawn, across the green fields, where grass fed cows graze all day, out to the beautiful Ballyhoura mountains. Sit and gaze out at the rolling mountains, watch the cows come in, with which their milk is used to make the famous Kerrygold butter. Bedroom one has a double bed, with plenty of space for a travel cot, which can be provided free of charge. Bedroom two has a double bed and two single beds, with a large roof window overlooking the mountains.

Guest access

Parking is free of charge at the front of our thatched house, with across via a path to the Dairy Lodge. Guests will have full access to the entire house, with a front door and double doors out to the garden. You can use the lawn, the back yard and the kids have full access to the sky fort and enclosed yard with plenty of toys!

Interaction with guests

The house is right beside our house, not attached. We have a young family so we are home most of the time to help out with any questions, or to help you enjoy your trip. With extensive knowledge of the area and the mountains, we can help walkers/bikers with treks and walks. We can bring you out to the milking parlour to watch the creamiest of milk being extracted from the grass fed cows, before it is being shipped off to be made into butter and cheese.

Other things to note

The house is on a working dairy farm. Supervised farm trips can be organised where you can take a guided walk over the 120 acres of farm. We will also bring you to the milking parlour where you can watch the cows being milked if you wish! We also have a dog and two cats. We have pigs for 4 months of the year, chickens, guinea fowl and turkeys - from Aug to Dec! In the garden we have a poly tunnel and a Skyfort for the kids to play in, a goal posts and plenty of toys! WHEN TRAVELLING TO US, PLEASE ENTER "DAIRY LODGE, LIMERICK" INTO (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) MAPS TO FIND US OR PRINT OUT THE MAP I HAVE SUPPLIED IN THE PHOTOS....other satellite navigations don't seem to bring guests to us!

We expect the guests to relax and enjoy the country side, but with being in close vicinity to our home, we don't expect much loud noise! We expect guests to treat the house with respect and to respect the environment they are in - its on a working farm, which has its obvious dangers.

Perfect stay on a working farm. We had a lovely time with twin boys age 16 and a toddler age 1. Highly recommended. Great position and Anne Marie and her family were superb hosts. You can't go wrong if you chose to stay there . Wish we could have stayed longer!!

Such a secluded and peaceful place to spend some time. Perfect for children and a fully functional farm with lots to look at. Anne Marie's hospitality was spot on, friendly, and helpful but not intrusive. You need a car to navigate to the house. A lovely place to while away the hours

Our family of 6 (2 adults and 4 young children) had a fantastic time staying at the Dairy Lodge. Anne Marie and Ger were fantastic hosts. The accommodations are great and exactly per the description. The area is a beautiful, scenic, rural farming region. It is also a great centralized location to get to all of the attractions in Central and South West Ireland. We would definitely recommend staying there and hope to return soon.

Fabulous!! Perfect in every way! Anne Marie and family are truly warm and welcoming-- We instantly felt like family! This is a gorgeous, modern and peaceful home and Anne Marie has made certain you have everything you could want or need. The location was perfect for visiting the many sites in the area, but even if all you wanted to do was remain at the Dairy Lodge you would not be disappointed. Loved our very quick stay there but plan to return!

Beautiful location with lovely hosts. Gorgeous scenery and Anne Marie went the extra mile and showed our two year old all the animals and she had no plenty of toys to play with. Would definitely recommend for a relaxing trip.

My family and I love meeting new people. My husband and I have travelled a lot before we welcomed our four kids into the world! I worked in the hospitality industry for years, so I have a very high standard in my listing. I love creating. I love bringing people happiness when they come to stay with us. I do not intrude! Motto in life - we only live once, make it a memorable one.
