This SHED is available to at the end of my garden overlooking the Irish Sea. A fabulous unique experience if that is what your looking for. This small space embraces the natural world, nestled in my garden, giving you views over sky & sea. Fabulous in all weathers, it is basic but certainly a glampers paradise. This magical & inspirational place, is the perfect retreat from our busy world, ideal for artists, writers, photographers, & anyone requiring a little RNR !

The space
You have access to a private toilet/shower room which is inside the bungalow.

Guests have access to basic kitchen facilities, a kettle, toaster, small fridge, & I provide a simple continental style breakfast of bread, milk, jams, tea & coffee,

This is my home so I live here, but when I have guests I am mindful of your privacy.

Bicycle storage is not a problem & I can store these in the bungalow. There is room for car parking at the front of the bungalow on my drive for 2 cars.

When you arrive I will meet to you at the front door, after which I will give you a key to the side gate that you then use to come and go. Please keep this gate shut & locked as I have dogs that must not get out.

Hightown is only three miles from Crosby beach where the famous Iron Man sculptures are on the beach.

Location

Hightown, United Kingdom

The area I live in is so quiet, it is so relaxing, but I love it because within 30 mins I can be in the middle of Liverpool a busy busy city, one that is constantly growing and evolving into a creative and colourful place !

Welcome to my world ! Just 12miles north of Liverpool. I have a small bungalow with a garden that overlooks the sea. I have been an artist all my life &, I love working with natural materials, capturing the fabulous light with photography and collecting objects left by the tide. I have 3 cats and 2 dogs. Nestled within the garden is 'The Studio' an eco house was built by a London based artist friend Tim Cole. It is a work of art, built from recycled and natural materials. He even straightened recycled nails & all tools were basic, not electrical ! The Owl House winner of the very popular - George Clarke's Shed of the Year 2015 ..... a magical space, created by another artist / Spanish friend Leonardo Alvarez Pinel. The Owl House is timber framed with some parts made from cob, recycled bottles with a grass roof. Unfortunately a local contacted the council about my doing Airbnb & the council have stopped my renting out the Eco rooms as they do not meet Building & Planning rules & regs, so for the moment all visitors have to sleep in the guest room inside. You can however chill out in The Owl House for as long as you like. There is a train service 10mins walk away and 10mins on the train you can reach Freshfield where you can visit the FORMBY PINE WOODS there you can see the famous Red Squirrels living wild in there natural habitat. Liverpool is 20mins on the train South. Liverpool is full of amazing sights and places to visit. There is Art & theatre, museums, L1 with its many shops & the famous Albert Dock & the Liverpool Tate to visit. Southport is 20mins on the train North. We built the Owl House shed 6 years ago using cob and recycled materials and competed it with a ‘living roof’ full of beautiful flora. Since then it’s become a fully functional, stunning shed where folks can chill out and enjoy the views. It is a truly amazing experience, a traditional British shed, reimagined and repurposed to create a beautiful space, even earning the spot as winner of the Eco category of Cuprinol’s Shed of the Year in 2015. Guests will stay in my lovely guest room with a unique bed made from locally found driftwood though the real selling point is access to the Owl House - nestled in the garden with beautiful views of the local sand dunes and beach! A space to unwind and relax, while absorbing this unique experience. Inside, you will find some comfy sofa’s and a cosy day bed to take a nap, read a book, listen to music or anything else you never find time to do in your busy schedule - though you can’t sleep overnight in the Owl House. For those guests staying in the space as part of the launch of the Cuprinol’s Shed of the Year competition, they will also receive a hamper full of Cuprinol goodies to go home and do up their own shed*. We hope your stay will help inspire a bit of sheddie love and sheddie renovations of your own! *limited numbers and subject to availability. Guest Access During your stay in my guest bedroom you will have full access to the Bicycle Shed, The Slipper House and Owl House as well as the main house kitchen, bathroom facilities and free car parking. Interaction with Guests I am really happy to interact and help guests where and when I can. I will be around and on hand to answer your questions or talk you through how we made the Owl Shed. House Rules Make the most of the Owl House and Slipper House to experience the beauty of the local area. Turn your phone off (even if only for an hour, I’m being realistic) to fully absorb the experience and your surroundings Be prepared for lots of excited cats and dogs upon arrival. Don’t be shy – if you’d like any extra information recommendations at all just let me know! Please no smoking No extra guests Please bring ID on arrival The Neighbourhood Overview The area I live in is tranquil and quiet. It is so relaxing and spending time in the Owl House means you can really get close to nature. There are local mobile dunes and the sleepy High Town beach with its petrified forest and snaking Alt Estuary. Just 3 miles North you can find the famous Formby beach where they discovered footprints of Neolithic men and the town with its pinewoods reserve, home to the red squirrel! But within just 30mins you can be in the middle of Liverpool - a busy busy city, one that is constantly growing and evolving into a creative and colourful place with great places to eat, visit and experience brilliant culture! Getting Around There is a local rail way service, the trains run every 15mins, and it is a 10min easy walk through the village, from my home to the station.
