This house is in a very quiet hamlet - most residents have lived here for 20 or 30 years and are very respectful, so please be mindful of music/sound levels in the evening and at night.

In addition this is an old house with multiple steep staircases - some of which don't have any ramps. Guests have stayed with small children in the past with no issues and are welcome again but it is totally at their own risk.

Tikal was a very nice experience. The two main bedrooms were far apart from each other and each with separate salon areas so two couples could really have privacy if desired. The small hamlet was mostly residential but two small towns were just a 10 minute drive or less in either direction. Both had plenty of restaurants and pubs and there was a decent size Carrfour market in Rebais where you could get groceries if you wanted. Try the restaurant "Au Bec Fin" about 10 min by car from the house! It was terrific and the owner was very very funny and friendly. We basically shut the place down as the last guests to leave. Beautiful meal and great wines and cheeses and very reasonable! As for location, the house was only about an hour and ten minutes from Paris CDG airport and about an hour from the champagne towns of Epernay and Reims. The house was pretty well equipped and had many unique features that the owner preserved while it was renovated from an old stone barn to the 2+ bedrooms and 2.5 baths. It was very bright and lots of light with large windows and skylights that open for a breeze through the house. We enjoyed eating our meals out in the garden or on the patio table. There was even a charcoal grill which we didn't end up using, but glad we had the option. Wifi worked great and there were two TVs in the two salon rooms and plenty of DVDs and CDs to listen to if you wanted. Overall it was a nice stay! Thanks again Antoine, Michael and Francoise!

Just came back from a 12 night stay at Tikal. If you want to get away to the French countryside in an authentic location, Tikal is the place to go. The property is well located in the quiet hamlet Lettree. Very well restored it offers great privacy and a lot of space in and around the house to enjoy. We very much enjoyed our stay here, which is a great place to explore the Champagne region, Provins, Reims, Paris and Epernay. Some culinary jewels in the close vincity would be 'Auberge du petit Morin' and 'les Echevins'. For the kids, the backyard, nearby Provins, Paris and a tour through the cellars of Mercier were definately highlights.

To make a long story short. I would give Antoine, his awesome family and this wonderful property 6 stars if I could. But we will have to do with a full house of 5 this time.

Charming historic farmhouse in the French countryside that has been beautifully renovated. We had a great time and Antoine was very helpful in providing instructions and tips on things to do in the area beforehand. Our GPS didn't recognize the address so just put in Lettree if having trouble finding the location. The house is on the left side of the road at the end of a small collection of other houses.

We had a lovely week at Tikal. It's really in the country, a very quiet, serene location with just a few neighbors sprinkled around. The house is quite large. It's a medieval building that's been renovated and expanded with all the comforts of home. Maybe good to know is that the two bedrooms are really far apart, one on either side of the house. When we first arrived, I was worried that our (age 5) son would have difficulty being so far away, up and down steep steps, but to our surprise it worked out just fine. He had no problems finding his way to us in the mornings. We did exactly as advertised (a day in Paris by train and a day at Disneyland by car) during our week's stay. This is a good location to reach both.

Myself, partner and 14 year old son had a fabulous time staying at Tikal. Antoine was very quick in responding to our queries. What a charming place! We visited shopping outlets in La Marne Village (the same as Bicester Village in the UK, but with some French outlets too). The outlets near Troyes are definitely worth a visit. Disneyland is very easy to get to and we visited there for the day. Plan that day to fit everything in and for popular rides, get your free fast pass time slot for each ride so save the queuing. You can only get one pass at a time. Back to the house - we really struggled to motivate ourselves to leave each day and for the most part hung around the house, breakfasted in the beautiful garden (there is plenty of extra garden furniture in the shed, so we moved that around the shades areas). It was truly a relaxing experience. Michel and Francoise greeted us warmly on the day and gave us a tour of the house enabling us to fully appreciate all the character of the building. We found ourselves imagining living there permanently! We brought our cycles and cycled almost daily to Rebais to get fresh French bread etc. and Le Ferte Gaucher is also not too far if you're feeling fitter and want to do a larger grocery shop! :-). Wifi speed great and we were able to stream TV through our Apple TV device. We brought swingball, badminton set and frisbee (the garden is large enough to enjoy all garden activities). It's such a peaceful setting and we enjoyed every minute of our stay! The photographs don't really do the place justice. Thank you very much!

5 quiet days in the country sun, off the beaten path. The home is unique and special. Michael's decor collections are forever intriguing. Provins 40 minutes drive. Paris an hour, but take the train from La ferte , 20 minute drive away. Antoine ' s sightseeing suggestions are excellent. The little pizza shop in the town square of Rebais, 5 k away, is worth the trip. Add a bottle of local wine and you will appreciate the locale and it's genuine character.

Globe-trotting Parisian. I love travelling and discoverig new places and people. Our little corner of paradise on the edge of the Champagne region is ideally located if you're considering a trip to Champagne or Burgundy from Paris, or if you just want to relax and enjoy the piece and quiet of the countryside.
