I know Alex was very disappointed about not having a fire for New Year’s. Unfortunately, the temperatures that weekend were single digits in the day and below zero at night. The day before they arrived we’d had to deal with frozen pipes in the kitchen and the furnace had to be adjusted to put out more BTU’s. Homeowners know it is not smart to open a giant flue under these conditions. The fireplace in the bedroom works, but given its shallowness, we choose not to have guests build fires in it. We were happy to have been able to put the house to rights so Alex could come and enjoy the house. Come back when it’s a bit warmer, Alex.
