PROS: Jo (and Denise) are great! Very good at communicating quickly and answering questions we had about the apartment and the city. Also, Denise was able to meet us a little earlier than planned when we caught an earlier bus from the airport than expected, which was helpful! The location (in the West End) felt like a little more authentic side of Galway, but still close to all the "touristy" things we wanted to do. Loved some of the restaurants and bars nearby, probably Dela and Crane Bar were my favorites. We were there for a conference at NUI, so it was also a convenient walk there too. And when we needed to take the city bus to the grocery store and further on to Salthill, the stop was just down the street. Amenities were good for what we needed, a place to sleep with separate rooms, to do a bit of laundry (she has a washing machine and drying racks), and cook a few meals when we chose not to eat out. CONS: If you are a light sleeper then this might not be the best fit. In addition to folks walking around on the street at night, there were a few parties in the building going on past the midnight quiet hours mentioned in the description. Since I am a light sleeper, I had brought noise canceling headphones, so I slept with those on every night and was OK. There was mold or mold stains (just a little bit) on the ceiling and shower in the bathroom, but I feel like that's almost to be expected in a climate like Galway. I let Jo know, and I'm sure it'll get cleaned up as the rest of the apartment was very clean!

Thank you Trina for your review I am delighted you enjoyed Galway. They are a lot of young people just moved into the block and youth and parties go together but I will look into it. I will tackle the bathroom ceiling again I do it often but with the steam from the showers and the Irish climate it is to be expected an ongoing battle.

If you don't like noise, this is not the place for you. It is in the center of the city just over a pub. The location is very difficult to find, but in a pretty good location near centre city. We felt a little unsafe at first, but once settled, did not feel that way any longer. Bedrooms are extremely small.

Response from Jo:
Thank you Karen for your review and feedback. I am sorry you found it noisy but the weekend you arrived it coincided with the All Ireland Hurling Final which Galway won so the City was really celebrating in style and this caused an excessive amount of noisy in the local taverns . Galway is a city that loves to celebrate and Munroes Tavern is a hot spot for music and is located in the next block beside us not part of our complex but as you say close enough. I also noted what you said about the rain giving you difficulties but Galway gets plenty rain it sweeps in from the atlantic ocean and is very wet. The Bedrooms I agree are small and will only accommodate two single beds each and a wardrobe plus bedside locker but this is sufficient for most needs. Hopefully despite those difficulties you enjoyed our lovely City and the friendly people and will come back someday

Jo apartment was a very good place: central, with 4 confortable beds for us and our 2 kids, good-value-for-money, if you are 4 and you want to stay central in Galway, also we appreciated the concept on the base of the building where the apartment is located ( it seems to be in a community), Denise (co-host) is very nice, takes care and works a lot for her guests. Also with Jo, I experienced a smooth and quick communication. Overall: excellent experience.

The Galway apartment was perfectly located in city centre and very clean and tidy. The kitchen was equipped with all the essentials and had a nice sitting/dining area. The beds, however, were very uncomfortable, a bit like sleeping on a box spring with the wires poking through. The water heater in the closet next to the bedroom continuously cycled on and off all night making it hard to fall asleep for two of us.

Response from Jo:
Hi Betsy sorry to hear that you found the beds uncomfortable. I was surprised as they are new mattress only put in this year. But I have been on to the plumber about the pump coming on sometime if you leave a tap dripping it causes the water pump to kick on. I will look into those matters and thank you for bringing them to my attention. I am glad otherwise you had a nice time in Galway

Glad Merin you had a good time. It is the height of the Season so Galway is buzzing and the apartment as you know is in the middle of the nightlife area. There is alway a bit of noise at the weekends.
