Sunny and warm Kawarau Cottage is located on our vineyard and orchard - a stunning riverfront location with expansive river and mountain views in the heart of the Central Otago wine region. Fully fenced, private and within the grounds of our own home.

The space

On a small vineyard/orchard; Kawarau Cottage is a stunning riverfront location with expansive river views along the Kawarau River and mountain views towards the Queenstown and Wanaka regions. Quiet setting, set well off the road, the only traffic noise is the occasional boat on the river. Barbeque and a sunny deck.
The main bedroom has a comfortable queen sized bed, room to relax with sliding glass external doors. The second bedroom has two comfortable single beds. The kitchen includes a microwave, a benchtop hob, fridge freezer and washing machine. The combined living space has a large kitchen table, chairs and comfortable furniture. TV and wifi included.

Guest access

Full use of the cottage, barbeque and outside space. Lots of off street parking (enough for the boat etc) and private access. You are also welcome to enjoy our own garden, and wander the vineyard and orchard - (please check with us first due to agricultural activities).

Interaction with guests

As much or a little as you would like; it’s your holiday! We love meeting new people and hearing of your travel experiences and equally enjoy helping you with any questions you may have about our area. We both work locally and on our own property so we can be there if you need us. Although the Cottage is close to our own home it is screened for your total privacy.

Other things to note

Although in a rural setting, the Cottage is within secure fencing so is suitable for younger children.
We are happy to share our two bikes, which can take you on a great winery tour, possibly not an extreme mountain biking experience!
Southern New Zealand is world famous for our amazing night skies and stars. Most nights it is quiet enough to hear a 'pin drop'.
Normal daily agriculture activities are part of the rural lifestyle....this can include spring frost fighting (wind machine) tractors and machinery.
**While we advertise as a two night minimum, we are happy to discuss a single night if there is a one night 'gap' in the calendar, or your travel schedule limits you to one night stay (surcharge may apply) **

This house is located among vineyards and has lovely views especially of the local river and mountains .The facilities are perfect and include fresh flowers, magazines and some (URL HIDDEN) is great value for money and importantly the hosts were most welcoming. It is ideal for walking and cycling. There is also a hotel in the nearby village where the friendly staff served us a lovely meal.

I highly recommend staying at Anne & Steve's lovely cottage. It's located in an awesome location in Bannockburn overlooking Kawaru River. The farm is surrounded by state-of-are vineyards and wineries.

Nice, quiet, secluded accommodation and pleasant hosts. Well heated and very comfortable bed. Bit of a steep trek to the river and not much visible from unit. But good base for getting around to the wineries and historic sites nearby.

The find of the century. This is a two bedroom cottage with Kitchen and living room all self contained. What a lovely guest cottage with all the comforts of home, in complete privacy, and with a great setting in the wine country overlooking the river (fishing done by previous guests). Anne and Steve are wonderful hosts and have made our stay so comfortable and special. We are actually staying another four nights in their main house with a private room, so the adventure continues. Don't miss the excellent lunch at Mt Difficulty Winery, just across the street and another great lunch at Carrick Wines just five minutes drive away. We give this AirBNB stay our highest rating for location, comfort, privacy and hosting hospitality. Fritz & Kathi (Napa Wine Country, California USA)

Anne & Steve were lovely, friendly hosts that helped us feel at home. Our arrival was met with some tasty homemade cookies and clear instructions as to where everything was. I would gladly stay here again!

Hi we are Anne and Steve...we live in the small artisan community of Bannockburn, the most inland town of equally small NZ! We enjoy local and other cultures and the company of our guests; equally whether we are spending time with you or knowing you are enjoying quiet time to yourselves. We welcome travellers to our special part of the world from near and far to our little piece of paradise.
