Two bedrooms, one bath, kitchenette and living/dining space. The space is above my parents home and you get the entire first floor to yourselves with ample parking space. No parties please.
The beach is at a distance of 3 kms or 10 mins walks.
We had a great stay with kriselle and family. The flat was very well kept and had brilliant facilities, including a small kitchen which gave us the opportunity to cook, and a lovely balcony to sit out on and enjoy the evenings. The flat is a 3km walk to the beach, which was really lovely. Only problem we occured was some powercuts, which wasn't the families fault, and we where asked to check out very early, when we only checked in at 7pm, but this was a minor problem. I would recommend this place to qnyone who is looking to relax in a lovely place like betalbatim!!
We arrived at Betalbatim at Kriselle’s home on 19/11/15 for 2 days stay. They seemed to be helpful at first and we were also happy to get rest after a long journey. We stayed on upper floor (2 BHK, balcony & bathroom). There were a number of issues we found a bit troubling like odd mismatched cups and cracked cutlery. One of the bed sheet was almost torn & tattered. It seemed like all unusable things were relegated to this place. There was no water purification unit but they offered to give water from their house which was on the ground floor which we had to fetch. The kitchen was infested with ants. There were cockroaches in the bathroom during night time. There was no dedicated house cleaning staff thus we had to sweep the floors during our entire stay. Also there was an issue created out of drying clothes in the balcony. After taking due permission in advance to hang clothes on their private clothes line situated in the lawn, due to the presence of pet dog Rex in the night we hung our laundry in the balcony and transferred it to the clothes line in the morning at 8:30 am for our own safety. This was made into a big issue by the Kriselle’s mother who admonished us before their van driver in a very loud/ harsh manner from downstairs for others to hear. We never raised our voice or argued in any ways but apologized and left the house the same day (which was anyways our last day). Pointing our mistake in a civilized manner would have been more than enough. We even sent an email to Kriselle explaining our situation. Sincerity behind apologies for her mother’s harsh behavior (thru email) can be judged by her curt response “It is your choice if you don’t want to come back here” instead of more friendly “Stay with us during your next visit” (although we never mentioned we would boycott their property in future) plus recently amended on airbnb site (after we left Goa)”House Rules-No hanging clothes in the balcony, there is a clothes line outside on the property that can be used”. No answers/assurances for our suggestions were offered by Kriselle. I can understand abusing or damaging things but restrictions on things owner finds aesthetically unpleasant is taking things too far. So much for the famed “Goan Hospitality”. We left feeling completely humiliated. Best of luck to you. Positives- 1) Good spacious rooms. 2) Washing machine, inverter, basic toiletries e.t.c. 3) 3km from beach. Improvements- 1) Welcome drinks/hot beverages would be highly appreciated by exhausted travelers who have just arrived. 2) Foldable clothes line in bathroom for privacy. Nobody likes to hang their laundry in full public view (especially in the lawn like the owner wants us to) 3) Pest control. 4) House cleaning staff. 5) Water filter.6) Last but not least –Showing basic Courtesy & Respect towards your guests & forgiving their minor unintentional follies.
