Hello! This is a listed building, previously two houses which has been converted into one. This is a large house with one wing being private to you.

If there is anything you need during your stay, we will gladly help!

The space

This has been listed as an entire house, but you will actually be living in one half of the house, with your own front door.

You will have a private bathroom with toilet, sink, bath, shower and underfloor heating.

You will have your own double bedroom with comfortable double bed, large chest of drawers, mirror and hanging rail.

Your private living /dining room has a dining table and chairs, tea and coffee making facilities, a drinks fridge, 3 couches, a fireplace, Cable TV and piano plus wifi.
we also have a FOLD UP single bed for a third guest which we can put in the double bedroom or living room.

Wi-fi is accessible in the living room./ dining room and kitchen. You have access to the kitchen (washing machine and dryer) and to cook with the AGA. All crockery and glassware etc. is available to you as is space in the fridge.

Guest access

As seen in the photos, there are two front doors to the house. You will live in the second house and have your own entrance to this with a private set of keys.

There is very easy transport from the house into the city, but if you are bringing a car, there is on street parking nearby but spaces can be limited at times.

Interaction with guests

We will gladly help you in any way we can with suggestions of things to do in Edinburgh, directions and recommendations and of course we are always open to conversation.

Other things to note

Just to note, we have a lovely cocker spaniel and a cat. They will not stay in your side of the house, but you might see them in the garden occasionally.

My wife and I had a lovely few days staying at Heather's beautiful house in Edinburgh. The house more than met our expectations. It was very comfortable and had every facility we wanted. It is a genuine "rus in urbe" - very conveniently located near the city, yet felt it was in the country, surrounded by trees and greenery and on the bank of the Water of Leith, with almost direct access to the river walkway. Heather was a wonderful host and made us feel very welcome and at home. At an earlier stage, there were two separate houses, which are now linked by a large common kitchen/dining area. We had complete privacy in our side of the house, as well as free and (for the most part) private use of the kitchen/dining area. We would strongly recommend her home for a comfortable, welcoming and unique experience.

The house is wonderful. The doublebed heavenly. The bath(room) luxurious. The living room cosy and warm. No sounds from the road coming to the rooms despite it being a gateway to city centre. Buses stop right in front of the house, every 5-10 minutes or so, reaching city centre in 5-10 minutes. The AirPort shuttle bus also stops very nearby. The Leith river runs right besides the property and provides a fantastic 4 mile walk to Leith Harbor. Last but certainly not least, our hostess Heather. She made us feel right at home and tended to our every need. Thank you so much Heather for this wonderful stay!

Heather's cottage is a beautiful, incredibly clean and stylish home located close to the city centre of Edinburgh. We had an excellent time! Heather is a wonderful host and talented artist. She was very welcoming -showing us how to use all amenities as well as giving us a lot of local information and tips immediately which was very helpful. If you're lucky, you'll get to meet her super friendly, cute dog ( Pip). Thanks again, Heather! I highly recommend everyone to stay with Heather as she is the best host! Please also check out Murrayfield Bar+ Kitchen right across the street from Heather's home. Good food, dog and kid friendly and space is very nice with a baby grand piano towards the left of the bar. Gordon (owner) and staff are very friendly. It was a great place to start and plan our day with their free wifi as they served beer and coffee at noon.

Reviews said it was better than expected by other guests.Even with this was pleasantly surprised. The cottage was close to the station and a bus stop just outside the gate with good connections everywhere.Heather and her family were so friendly and welcoming. The piano and the doggie on top of that made it difficult for my 9 year old to leave. We were there for Halloween and heather was kind enough to ask around so we could go trick or treating.3 days was not enough and we will be going back in the new year

As soon as we saw pictures of Heather 's beautiful cottage in the heart of Edinburgh, we fell in love with it. It was perfectly located and had all of the home from home charms that make the stay so memorable. It certainly did not dissapoint when we got there. It was even more beautiful and idyllic than the pictures. Running past the cottage was a cute river and walkway that we unfortunately did not get a chance to walk along. It certainly looked beautiful surrounded in Autumn colours. Heather was a fantastic host. She kept in touch with us and met us at the door to give us a tour of the cottage. She was very Informative and told us how to use everything from the heating and TV to the Aga. She was really helpful and friendly and even helped us with the local busses. I couldn't have hoped for a better host. She truly was amazing. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay at this beautiful place as it's really close to the centre of Edinburgh, it has surrounding shops, great transport and an outstanding host. I hope we can stay here again sometime.

I am lucky enough to live in the most beautiful house in Edinburgh ( at least I think so). It has an amazing garden that lies on the river of leith and has a huge amount of plants, flowers and fruit trees. I work as a botanical artist, selling cards and gifts at The Botanical Gardens in Edinburgh and various National Trust for Scotland properties and my garden is a constant source of inspiration for me.

I have lived in Edinburgh for most of my life and know my way around very well. The house is pretty well central to everywhere in Edinburgh, so if you are a visitor, with my knowledge of the city and the location of the house, getting around should be very easy.

You will be living in one half of the house with your own front door and access to the kitchen. I live in the other half and will be on hand if you need help with anything.

Please feel free to get in touch if you want to know more and I look forward to meeting you if you if you decide to stay.
