This is the Homestead Cabin, nearly 100 years old! This is a 1-room cabin with a queen bed, bunkbed, and a private bathroom including sink and hot water shower. Small, but very cozy and comfortable.

1 hr 15 min drive from Grand Teton NP and 2 hrs 15 min from Yellowstone NP.

The space
This cabin was an original homestead cabin on the ranch and is one of 4 cabins at Granite Creek Ranch. Granite Creek is a 5th generation cattle ranch in the scenic mountains of Eastern Idaho. Originally homesteaded in the early 1900's, Granite Creek now consists of thousands of acres. Natural springs feed each of our cabins and ranch house by gravity flow. Very comfortable with an overhang porch and two hammocks right outside the cabin. There is a shared small deck area with benches and lawn chairs. The Homestead cabin sits near a creek and close to our horse corral.

There is an electric heater; some nights can become a little chilly even when warm during the day. Also a small fridge to keep beverages or food items cold during your stay. Private bathroom with hot water shower.

Guest access
Guests have access to the area where they can enjoy hiking or mountain biking on the property and fishing on our 5 acre Granite Lake. We stock our pond with rainbow trout and you do not need a license to fish here. A waiver must be signed and life jackets are provided and must be worn while on the water in our canoes and rowboat(no cost). We have picnic tables, an outdoor fireplace and grill that guests are welcome to use.

We offer catch and release fishing with barbless hooks at no extra charge. We do not provide any fishing gear.

Guided horse rides are available for ages 7+ at an additional cost of $35/person/hr. Children under 7 years old can do a hand-led ride at $30/half hour. Please inquire ahead of time if you are interested.

We offer all guests a simple self-serve breakfast in our ranch kitchenette. The kitchenette and dining area are shared with other guests in the 3 other cabins . There are bagels, muffins, breakfast sandwiches, milk, cereals, juice, yogurt, coffee and tea. We have a coffee pot, microwave, fridges, freezers, toaster and hot burner. The cabin has a small fridge to store personal food items as well.

List of amenities guests have access to:

Hiking, biking on ranch roads and trails
Canoes and fishing in the lake
Outdoor fireplace area with benches
Outdoor grill and griddle
Picnic area with tables and chairs
Kitchenette with fridge, microwave, toaster oven, sink and coffee maker.
There are some cooking utensils and pots and pans available.

Other things to note
The cabins are close to the corrals and barn, so at times we may have cattle in the corrals. We also have quite a few horses that hang around the corrals and the barn area during the day. You may pet the horses while on the other side of gates and fences, but please do not go inside the corral with them. They can kick or bite without notice.

The nearest grocery store is the Swan Valley General Store, located 8 miles east of the ranch. There is room in our kitchenette fridges to keep some food items. There are also 3 restaurants in Swan Valley. We have some basic cooking utensils for food preparation in the kitchenette: pots and pans, cutting boards, cutlery, and grill utensils.

Verizon cellular phone service works the best in our location, other carriers usually have reception back on Hwy 26. We do not have laundry services. D&L Laundromat is a coin-operated laundromat 32 miles west of the ranch in a town called Rigby.

We have a NO PET POLICY. We usually have a ranch dog and barn kittens who love attention, but please do not allow them in your cabin or the kitchenette.

Granite Creek is a very peaceful and secluded area. People often say it feels like going back in the past where time moved a little slower. The immediate area of Swan Valley and Palisades Reservoir are very beautiful for sight seeing. There is a waterfall a few miles from the ranch called Fall Creek. The South Fork of the Snake River runs very close to the ranch for easy access to world famous fly fishing. There is plenty of room at the ranch to park some drift boats.

Just 20 Min from the ranch is Heise Hot Springs and Heise Zipline. The natural beauty and the many activities that can be enjoyed in the area make it a very fun destination. Look in the folder located in your cabin or the guidebook located on this website for more local activities.

I'm owner and manager of Granite Creek Ranch, a 4th generation cattle ranch where I also grow alfalfa, barley and wheat. I love being able to work outdoors and I enjoy creating a place where others can also come and enjoy the scenery, peacefulness and mountain fresh air. I like learning about different cultures and history as well as learning new skills and ways of doing things.

During your stay
We try very hard to be there to greet you and show you around, but we are often busy with the cattle and crops. If we are not able to greet you, your cabin is directly to the right of the red and white ranch house(review picture in photos) and is labeled "HOMESTEAD CABIN" under the porch light. It will be unlocked and you can go right in. Please make yourself comfortable in your cabin and feel free to walk around the premise. The kitchenette is the most east yellow building open 24 hours a day and is located to the left of the ranch house on a small hill. We are a working cattle ranch so our family and a few ranch workers will be 'around the ranch' most times, either tending to cattle, fixing fence, working in the fields or other ranch duties. At times we are very busy with work and not able to visit with you as much as we would like to do! But we are always available by messaging for any questions you may have. We have a folder in each cabin sharing our history, the waivers and other "things to know".
