Cute one-bedroom apt between the Catskills and Adirondacks, with a variety of activities in every direction. Full-size bed, full kitchen, cozy living room. Extra rooms possible. Stay includes private access to field trails, pond, lake, and forest.

The space

This charming renovated apartment comprises the ground floor of a two-story 1850’s farmhouse facing a quiet country road and is fully self-contained with a bedroom, bathroom, living room, and large kitchen. Your host lives in a separate but attached house. Your privacy and comfort is my wish, and that you enjoy your own space and the land. This is a place to wake up to peaceful birdsong and soft sunlight streaming into your bedroom. The bedroom is small but cozy with a comfortable full-size bed. The kitchen has appliances and basic supplies to cook your own meals. Just ask if you need anything! The living room has two comfortable couches and a 32-inch flat-screen TV with a DVD player, a selection of movies, and access to local channels, as well as books, magazines, and a chess set from Africa.

Guest access

You are welcome to enjoy the landscaped front yard areas, including a small deck for morning coffee or tea and lounge chairs, and wander clearly marked trails through fields that lead to a pond, untouched forest, and wetlands lake on 30 private acres. The leisurely walk to these areas is easy and a property map is provided. Experience shinrin yoku – Japanese for “forest bathing” – by taking a therapeutic walk in my forest, on your own or with me as your guide. Take your time to breathe, relax, wander, touch, listen, and heal. Clear your head, relax your soul, and return home refreshed!

*NEW* A fire pit is now available for guests to enjoy right outside the apartment door. Bundles of wood and marshmallows can be bought at the nearby Mobil Station...

Interaction with guests

I will greet you upon arrival and explain the apartment and land access. I will leave you to explore or accompany you on a tour of the fields, pond, forest, and lake, and will provide a list of local services and attractions within an hour radius. I may be in and out but am always contactable and you will have full privacy at all times.

Other things to note

This is a rural location. I do not have WiFi but depending on your provider you may have service and there is 4G access just up the road. There is a Mobil station in Sloansville (4 miles away, basic supplies and great pizza to go!) and a Hannaford’s grocery store (8 miles away in Esperance), otherwise all services are either in Cobleskill (about 12 miles) or other, farther towns.

This place is a real gem! Andrew was a friendly and communicative host and really went above and beyond to offer us information about the property and the surrounding area. The house was warm and welcoming and had all the amenities we needed for a really relaxing and comfortable stay. The land surrounding the property is gorgeous and it was a huge bonus to get to walk around and enjoy without ever having to get in the car. Andrew gave great recommendations about what to do, see, and eat in the area and was spot on with everything he suggested. Would definitely come back to stay here again!

If you're looking for an escape from the city, Andrew's place is the perfect cozy getaway. Wake up with a coffee and look out into the beautiful foliage and be as loud or as quiet as you'd like to be because no one is around. PS - Andrew is a fantastic and an intriguing human to be around, and will let you know about all the cool spots to check out. Highly recommend this place. It's one of a kind.

Andrew welcomed us with a jug of sun tea and a fruit basket. He showed us around the apartment and made himself available for a tour of the extensive property, while also providing a map for self-guided strolls. The apartment was very clean and well-maintained, and decorated in keeping with the country surroundings, yet incorporating art and crafts indicative of international travel. We enjoyed lounging and snoozing under the shade tree. This was an ideal place for tuning out the demands and noises of our "always-on" world.

Andrews place was absolutely perfect for our short stay for a family wedding. The space is so peaceful, cosy and immaculately Andrew was very welcoming and friendly, he made us tea for our arrival and had fresh fruit and coffee available for our use. I would highly recommend staying here if you are in need of a relaxing retreat.

The cozy little hideaway is perfect for a couple looking to get away for a secluded weekend. The quaint apartment is part of a chic, rustic farmhouse and has been decorated fashionably for travelers. The house sits on a large acre tract and is great for those looking to do a little hiking and exploring. We were visiting Cooperstown and this place was just the right distance for our tastes.

Nice, secluded place. We stayed there while visiting the Beekman farm and Sharon Springs, which is close by. Apartment was clean and even had fresh fruit for our stay.

Andrew is a wonderful host and has a beautiful property in the upstate NY countryside. Before our arrival I mentioned to Andrew I enjoy birding and he had his binoculars, field guides, and up to date bird sightings for me around his property. Andrew has cut a bunch of walking trails back in his property with resting pull outs to sit and take in the quiet natural setting. Unfortunately my wife and I were so busy with wedding activities which brought us to the area that we didn't have time to fully enjoy the property. However we were greeted with a wonderful orientation, fresh sun brewed tea and I did have time to take in the walking trails and saw/heard 12 bird species in a half hour! I would not hesitate staying here or recommending others to enjoy this incredibly peaceful location! Thanks Andrew!

I am a former international journalist and educator who has traveled extensively and works from home, in New York City, and around the world. I have owned this property since 2000 and am proud to have grown it from a “no curb appeal” listing to a natural country paradise teeming with life and energy. I am excited to welcome guests who appreciate nature, serenity, and slowing down to take it all in. Bienvenue francophones!
