Cregg Castle is a magical place built in 1648 by the Kirwin Family, one of the 12 tribes of Galway. It is set on 180 acres of pasture and beautiful woodlands.
Your host, Artist Alan Murray who currently hosts the Gallery of Angels in the main rooms.

The space
I have a great size room available at the front of the Castle for your short or long holiday. There are 2 doubles and a single bed.

The toilet, wash hand basin and shower are en-suite.
The large main rooms are used as an art gallery space and photoshoots etc, but also can be used by you for entertainment, reading or just for chilling out away from your room.
You might meet Terry, my business partner - inside infusions, who also lives here, or Steven who runs Bushcraft camps for kids in the woods on occasion, which gives an interesting atmosphere.
I do facilitate film and photo shoots occasionally so please come to stay, with a flexible attitude to how quiet or busy the Castle maybe, or I might be, from day to day. For me, that’s the great and exciting thing about Cregg.

Guest access
The Castle is mostly available to explore and enjoy. (With the exception of our private bedrooms off course.) The kitchen is also available if you want to make breakfast, lunch or to cook a meal. The guests have their own little fridge and your own press with tableware etc.
Heads up!
This is a work in progress, My aim is to restore the Castle, it was locked up, for 4 yrs only 4 years ago. It’s a big place so please do expect to see some areas which are unused, unfinished and things like - fly’s in cobwebs and lots of weeds. Sorry but I don’t have any staff here, and they're just isn’t time in my life for that stuff. It's kind of impossible to keep them away from here, nature just keeps creeping inside.
I tell myself it all adds character anyways.
The winter months it’s pretty cold here so bring warm clothes. The castle has huge rooms and costs too much to heat the whole building, so we tend to just heat the rooms as and when we need them.
Your bedroom has an electric heater and your beds have electric blankets which will keep you nice and warm.

Other things to note
The woodlands are beautiful for natural walks, visit our timeless natural spring well, which is where we get our water. The old walled graveyard which has an old ruin of church which is strangely placed right in the middle of the huge field. Take another walk on the grounds along the river which used to power the old mill house. I have a beautiful pony called " Arrow" she is such a sweetheart and a real cool donkey called "Houdini" who both like to hang out in the back yard and the walled garden - apple orchard. They like to go for walks with me and love meeting the guests too but are currently with my friend in Co.Mayo. as they need training so I can ride her.

I discovered my passion for Art activities early in life and haven’t looked back since. Art College taught me the fundamentals of art, but it’s the journey of life that provides me with my inspiration. I feel my Paintings are very personal and reflects my own Timeline of life, In my process of painting I have found doors for me to explore and develop a greater inner spiritual connection to myself and our external world and even Angels. I Love to sense and discover all the connections in life. My exhibition of original oil Paintings hangs in the two large reception rooms of Cregg Castle. I call it the “Gallery of Angels”. It’s a dream space to have my own semi-permanent solo show. I took on Cregg Castle in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) after it was locked up for 4 years. I have managed it as a artists residence and also host music and cultural events, photo shoots and film and my Art Gallery. I have one room for Airbnb guests, many are foreign visitors. They are all delighted to come and stay in a real Irish Castle. https://www.airbnb.ie/rooms/7479769?preview (Website hidden by Airbnb) My Pony - Arrow, Donkey - Houdini and Cat - Pixie are a huge contribution to the positive healing energy here. . I feel we all need to simplify our lives, to our basic needs and have time to enjoy the - true simple pleasures and treasures in life. I reckoned if I take care of the Castle the Castle will take care of me and many more... Currently I and my friend/ business partner, Terry are both living and working at the Castle. We have a new company called "inside infusions " Ltd. based at the Castle. Our functional beverages, organic CBD oils, topicals and nutritional supplements have improved bio-availability, are natural, organic and healthy. SPECIALLY FORMULATED WITH ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES TO SUPPORT AND PROTECT FROM THE INSIDE OUT. My other passion “Butterfly Wings” Therapeutic Painting Workshops Discover and understand what motivates You so you can create real positive change in your life While you create your very own original oil paintings. I, Alan Murray have fused together my knowledge and skills of Neuro Linguistic Programming - NLP (Master Practitioner), Time Line Therapy (Practitioner) and Fine Art.(Dip. in Painting) to create a Painting Workshop that is truly a therapeutic experience. My workshops are provided in the historic and magical setting of Cregg Castle which sits on 180 acres of mature woodlands and pasture in Corandulla Co. Galway. The full day one to one workshop aims to create an enjoyable opportunity for you to get in touch with your inner self. Discovering many new and exciting things about yourself, you will have the freedom and opportunity to create real positive changes in your life, while at the same time exploring the medium and process of oil painting. The attitude is based on NLP and the structure adapts the process of Time Line Therapy which allows you to see the possibilities and feel the benefits of change in your life. This motivates you to become more open and encourages you to deal with any issues that may not be helping you to achieve your goals. By uncovering the negative emotions and limiting decisions that have built up over the years from your previous experiences in life you can then begin the process of lightening the load of unwanted baggage. The process of the workshop gives you the opportunity to create and express yourself through a number of images, which are personal but simply visual representations of your unique model of the world - past, present and future. This powerful imagery may be abstract to another however to you the painter it is full of messages to one-self, insight and private details, thoughts and emotions which are presented to you in your art by your choice of colour, line, form and symbols. Physically and emotionally painting your unique Timeline shows you how you store time which revels many things in itself. Painting away throughout the day with the intension to create positive change in your life creates a wonderful feeling of self-awareness and self-respect giving you a sense of control over your well-being. Hence your imagery becomes enriched, embodied, empowered and meaningful to only you. You will discover important connections, develop new conscious decisions and most importantly discover new learning’s, which can allow you to let go of trapped unwanted negative emotions attached to your past memories. The process of painting is easy, even if you have never painted before, all that is needed, is for you to just relax, enjoy and embrace the Now. This is not about creating a pretty picture it’s about awareness and understanding of one-self, which will be a tool for life. As it is here in the Now where all learning, behaviour and change takes place. You can then choose a more informed and positive outlook for what you wish to achieve and work with putting smart goals in place. This creates a more focused self-fulfilling map of potential, positively changing aspects of your life for that brighter more vibrant future you deserve. It’s wonderful as you have this painting of your timeline to bring home so that the process can continue for you as long as it is needed, for you to achieve your goals and live a happier life. This workshop is a One to One session, a full day from 10 – 6.which takes place at the Castle. All equipment and materials provided, at a cost of 120 Euro.
