Over 2000 sf, beautiful two-bedroom apartment located on the second floor of an 1887 Queen Anne Victorian Home. Private entrance and amazing views of the Ohio River and Emsworth Lock and Dam. 6 miles from Heinz Field and PNC Park and 15 miles from Pittsburgh International Airport. One block from public transportation. The house is on a large lot with grape vines, fruit trees and an oak tree that is one of the largest in the area. Unit has separate staircase, entrance and deck.

The space

Entire second floor (over 2000 sf) of an 1887 Queen Ann Victorian home. Two bedrooms with a queen-sized bed in each. Full-sized living room, dining room and kitchen. Full-sized refrigerator and range plus toaster oven, microwave and Keurig coffee maker. We supply Keurig coffee pods, sugar and powdered creamer. All Cookware, plates, glassware and utensils provided.

Guest access

Access to the second floor is via a private door and stairway off the front porch. The house has an interior "servant's" staircase that also accesses the 2nd floor and is used as an emergency exit.

Interaction with guests

We will make every effort to make your visit enjoyable and will help in any way we can. We enjoy meeting and interacting with our guests.

Other things to note

1) We have a dog (Curly) who is a Great Dane/Black Lab mix; he is friendly, knows a lot of neat tricks and is obsessed with his Frisbee.
2) The house sits on a bluff about 60 feet above the Ohio River, the locks and dams and the railroad tracks. The trains run day and night and blow their whistles as they approach nearby crossings. Some people love the train whistles, some people grew up near trains and don't notice them and others find out that trains whistles can be quite loud.

This accommodation has a certain "charm" associated with its age and location but our kids would say it had no soul, generosity or warmth.

Kristen & Ted's historic home made for a wonderful getaway for us. The house itself is beautiful and the 2nd floor is airy, open, clean, and easy to relax in. Everything you need to make your trip a success is already there right down to books, games, local magazines, and essentials. The yard and view is breathtaking and, if you're lucky, Curly will share his Frisbee with you! It was the perfect place to spend a few days in Pittsburgh (close to downtown yet hidden in it's own little niche). Kristen & Ted were gracious hosts and very easy to talk to. We highly recommend staying here - you won't regret it.

Kristen and Ted are great hosts. Communication was easy and they were very friendly and nice to talk with. The apartment is spacious and lovely, just what you'd expect in a big historic house. The trains and road are noisy but with earplugs we slept OK.

This home was great. I love the historic information, the views, the location to downtown. It was a comfortable and accomodating. We enjoyed the morning on the balcony where there was a nice cool breeze. The train whistles took some getting use to, but after the first ones it was like the fog horns we have by us. There were ear plugs available (as listed), I chose not to use them and was fine. It was a very hot in Pittsburgh during our visit but the window conditioners in each room made the place accomodating. Kristen and Ted were a delight to meet. The only difficulty was exiting onto the fast road from their drive. Maybe to trim back bush on left side? It was nothing that would prevent us from visiting again. Now that our son lives in Pittsburgh, we hope to visit again. Thanks for sharing your home.
