Antonio’s home is absolutely adorable! Even better than the photos!! My girls loved the swing, the mini trampoline and the pool. We had quite a rain storm while we were there so we didn’t use the pool at all. The neighbourhood of El Acebuchal is beautiful and picturesque. It is right in a National Park so there is great trekking right out the front door. The tiny town is actually about 5k from beautiful Frigiliana. The drive is beautiful but part of it is along a tight dirt road. Not too bad to drive it but you will need a car if you stay there. I would also recommend bringing some provisions to have at the house, especially if you have kids. Antonio’s restaurant is excellent but is only open from about 10am until 5pm. Good for lunch but you might want to have some milk, coffee, juice, cheese and salami and of course wine or beer. Buy the bread from Antonio’s restaurant, it is fabulous. Overall the home was perfect for our two night stay.

This is a wonderful place to spend your holiday, if you don't mind peace and quiet. The beautiful village of Acebuchal is in a valley, and I was afraid it might be very warm during the night. It was not, thanks to a nice breeze. The house was well decorated and had everything we needed. Right next to us were two other holiday houses, but apart from occasional splatter from the swimming pool we hardly noticed anyone being there. I assume that the other guests hadn't come to party either. Antonio is a very friendly host. His restaurant serves delicious food. It is only open for lunch, however, and the nearest town were you can have dinner is Frigiliana, a 20 minute drive on mountain roads. If you leave Acebuchal at the other end of town, a bumpy road with spectacular views takes you through a river and eventually (40 mins) to the nice town of Competa. Malaga (50 mins) and Granada (90) are also fun to visit. Tickets to the Alhambra in Granada should be bought well in advance, if you don't want to wait in line in the heat or find the place fully booked. There are nice beaches near Maro, east of Nerja.

Antonio was very responsive and helpful before & during our stay. The house is fabulous and lovingly decorated by his wife. It is located in a small village off the beaten path. The pool was *very* cold in September but nice. Getting to and from the house requires walking a few steep stairs with your luggage. No problem if you are generally fit. If you arrive later in the day, do bring some essentials such as water, coffee, etc as the grocery store is about 20 minutes back the way you came from on a windy gravel road. It is easy to drive but we just were not in the mood after a long day and had wished we had bought coffee & milk for the morning. We had hoped to have two really relaxing days after lots of exploring but unfortunately we had a large group in the house next door who constantly talked very loudly until late at night (one night they even had live music). This is not Antonio's fault but know that this can happen as the houses are very close to each other. Antonio runs a restaurant in the village which is open 10-5 each day. We had breakfast there every morning and Antonio was kind enough to allow us to order food to heat up later in the microwave. He is a terrific chef and the food and home baked bread is excellent. We would go back anytime again, of course hoping that then there wasn't a bigger group next door ;-)

The house itself is beautiful but it is in a remote restored village where you are surrounded by similar properties with pools which were unoccupied while we were there in the first week of September. It is difficult to find and the 4 kilometre track from the road to the village of Acebuchal is very much a first and second gear drive. I would not want to come and go more than once in a day. If you know the location and that's what you want it is first class. If you want an accessible living village rather than a remote tourist centre this may not be for you. Get very clear directions before you leave Frigiliana.

The place is a hidden jewel a few kilometers outside of Frigiliana and the house part of a pueblo blanco. We had a great time and the kids loved feeding the donkeys, chickens and pig. Antonio and his brother run a charming Restaurant, an absolute must and make sure to reserve since it might be easily booked out. Thanks Antonio for your hospitality! Highly recommended and two thumbs up!
