Stay in sunny quiet Waialua in a charming 70's bungalow. Renovated modern room and bathroom with freshly painted kitchen and updated appliances. Quick 5 minute walk to beach, close to Haleiwa, a quiet gateway to north shore away from traffic.
Share a 70's plantation bungalow with the owner. Guest's have full use of the 1600sqft, 3 bedroom house, facilities (washer/dryer) and yard space. House is completly renovated with redecorated guest bedroom, new modern bathroom and new shiny kitchen with granite countertops.
I'm hoping for people to come and stay on the north shore for a taste of the real Hawaii, the tranquility and access to the amazing variety of sports and beautiful outdoor experiences on offer.
I work 10 - 6pm, so you would have the house to yourselves during the days. I'm from NZ, have extensively traveled and am very active, which is good because there are so many cool things to do on the north shore.
The lounge is nicely finished with polished wooden floors and new leather sectional couch, with excellent indoor outdoor flow to the 500sqft balcony, which is also furnished. This balcony gives a nice shady outdoor relaxation spot during the day and evening. The garden is loaded with lime, orange, lemon, papaya, avocado and lilokoi fruit trees, so feel free to help yourself to the fresh organic fruits
The room available has been tastefully redecorated, and is adjacent to the new bathroom. A comfortable queen bed, desk/workspace, linen, wardrobe and cupboards/storage are provided.
Please be aware there is no air conditioning or TV available. The bedrooms have fans, and the house and outside balcony get the cooling trade winds in the afternoon.
There is a large front yard available for playing/relaxing and a nice outside covered balcony.
Guests will share the 2 bedroom house with the owner, who is away at work most of the day. There is also a balcony/BBQ area , large lawn with abundant fruit (currently papaya, lime, oranges and lilokoi. The laundry is also shared with adjacent house. Plenty of on street parking.
Interaction with guests
I'm respectful and will be gone most of day. I'm out going and active, normally try for a surf before work and have great knowlegde of all the fun things to do in the area. There are a variety of surfboards and bicycles available for use for a nominal fee. I'm into kite surfing, free diving, sailing hiking etc, and will always invite guest along if they wish.
The neighboring unit has three tenants in their mid 20's all fun outgoing people. We're a social crowd often having friends over and finding fun activities to do. How ever their is plenty of space and the house has its own entrance and access from the street if you wish to keep to yourselves.
Other things to note
Please note there is no air conditioning or TV, so its a great reason to get out and about and enjoy the beautiful natural environment Hawaii has to offer. Evenings can be spent relaxing or socializing in nearby Haleiwa and there is a great beach near by for beach fires.
This place would be suitable for a active out going people, who want a bit more of a local experience than staying in a hostel or hotel. The room in being offered at a cheaper rate to encourage longer stays and appeal to the cost conscious travelers who like a bit more comfort and space while enjoying the benefits of the north shore.
Small gathering are fine, there is a BBQ, and nice outside patio that is suitable for this.
Hi, I'm Jason, a New Zelander (Kiwi) professional engineer in my mid 30's. I'm Honest, clean, tidy out going and have an active, fun lifestyle and creating new adventures. I am renting out the spare room in my house, to hopefully meet interesting people, share a bit of the "HI" life/aloha spirit and help pay the bills.
I moved to Hawaii 3 years ago, thinking it would be a nice place to live for a couple of years, make some money and then get back to travelling. I under estimated how nice and how much fun it is to live here, and now I have a house here and no desire to leave. The laid back country atmosphere we have here on the North Shore is alluring- so much nicer than the crazy Waikiki tourist sausage machine.
I'm active and try to complete the whole range of sports possible here on the north shore. In fact my favorite days are when you get a "trifecta" - any three of the surfing, kiting, free diving SUPPing, mountain biking, motocross, beaching, hiking etc actives possible here.
One concept i live by is "Life is for the living" I enjoy sharing these good times with other adventurous people.
I work 9-6pm weekdays and other time am out surfing, kiting, adventring etc. So typically you will have the whole house to yourself. Im very tolerant and respectful and because the house is still under repair everything is pretty easy going and relaxed.
Not a party house, but small gatherings are welcomed.
