About this listing
'The Retreat' is an independent access cabin in a quiet corner of Bath with underfloor heating. Close to RUH, M4 and 5 min drive to Center. En-suite with large shower. Free on-street parking. On bus route. Beautiful countryside views. Breakfast basket provided. Double bed. Nestled in some lovely scenery, the Cabin is compact and contains all mod cons you would want for a short and relaxing break in Bath.
We have a bespoke and beautifully crafted Garden Cabin nestled in our garden. There is a double bed with comfortable memory topped mattress. Set in a lovely quiet corner of Bath offering stunning views. Originally designed for visiting family and friends, it is small yet perfectly formed. It is fully double glazed with lovely underfloor heating and has been certified by guests as cosy at -5 degrees. There are tea and coffee making facilities, a small fridge as well as a hairdryer. There is a TV in the cabin and good Wifi access. There is an en suit shower room with a generous sized shower. A breakfast basket is provided each morning containing a variety of cereals, fresh fruit, toast and locally sourced jam and marmalade. This is provided along with a choice of tea or 'plungy' coffee.
We are delighted to have hosted people from all over the world who are visiting Bath for both business and pleasure. We find guests really enjoy the privacy, independence, tranquility and quality service of the Cabin. The space is compact and generally guests use it as a base from which to explore and rest in. There is space under the bed to accommodate large cases but you may find it easier bringing a smaller overnight case for your Garden Cabin escape!
The cabin has independent private access meaning you can come and go as you wish with a key provided. There is a set of decking steps down to the cabin and whilst most people can negotiate the route with no problems at all it wouldn't be suitable for people with mobility issues.
Interaction with guests
Someone is generally around day and night with the exception of school pick up times. I have lived in Bath for 14 years and my husband has grown up in the area. We love Bath and the surrounding area and are only too happy to help our guests get the most from their stay. Please read my guestbook section for a rundown of our top picks of restaurants, cafes and things to do in Bath.
Located at the top of Weston village, our cosy cabin has the advantage of being close enough to local village amenities and Bath city centre (5-10 min drive) yet you can wake up in the morning to bird song and the distant sound of cows and sheep in the fields across the valley. With easy access to all that Bath has to offer such as the Thermae Spa (don't forget your swimming stuff!), the Roman Baths, world renowned architecture, and highly regarded independent shops we are ideally located for whatever you decide to do during your stay.
There is ample free parking outside the house and a bus stop 50 meters away. The No9 bus route to Upper Weston passes every hour and takes about 20mins to get into the city centre. The last bus back is 11.30pm. There is a quicker bus route only 5 minutes walk down the hill (No4 First bus) and runs every 10/15mins into the center. It is a 10 minute taxi ride to the centre. Lansdown park and ride is a 3 minute drive away. Bath Spa train station is on the main line to London, Bristol, South Wales and Cornwall. There is also a great public transport service to Bristol Airport and a quick drive through the countryside takes you to the M4.
Other things to note
As I have a young family, I am regularly out of the house during the day. I like to know when people will check in so I can try and plan my day around your plans - so please let me know in advance when you will be arriving. If I can't be around then I will leave instructions how to access the Cabin.
Please bear in mind our lovely Cabin is not slap bang in the city centre. As stated many time in the description it is a 5 min drive away yet some guests still mark us down on Location ratings when reviewing us :( It is incredibly quick and easy to get into the centre and our nightly rate does reflect the fact it is not in the middle of Bath. Please consider this before booking - we promise you a great, peaceful and high quality stay but we can't pick up and move the Cabin :)
On week days I will be doing the school run from 08:15-09:15 and 15:00-16:15.
We have a young family and a great relationship with our neighbours and we ask that you respect this by being courteous and quiet both outside and inside the cabin. Please park your car responsibly.
Sorry, no pets or smoking allowed either inside the cabin or anywhere in the garden.
You are welcome to bring a take away back but we ask you to eat it outside the cabin - as we like to keep it clean and fresh for our guests.
On initial arrival, please do not access the Cabin without firstly meeting with me or letting me know you will be using self check in.
You are welcome to photograph the Cabin and the view from the back of the house but please don't photograph the front due to neighbour's privacy. If myself or my family is in the garden then please refrain from any filming or photographs
Cancel up to 5 days before your trip and get a full refund, including service fees.
I am a married Mum of 3 great boys - it's their tree house every guest admires when they arrive! I grew up in Glasgow, Scotland and moved to Bath over 15 years ago. We have a touring caravan which we use to explore the fantastic countryside and coast we have on our doorstep. We love meeting new people and, if asked, offering local advice on where to visit and eat. Hopefully you will find us friendly and approachable and will help you get the best out of your stay in Bath
