Back to nature in this tranquil little wooden building, beautiful antique windows reveal a gentle vista of rolling hills and open skies. It's Ireland's answer to glamping, (with a solid roof over your head ;) ) yet the feeling of being out in nature.

The space

This is a glamping experience, it is a warm, dry, insulated wooden cabin with a comfortable bed and lovely views. Be prepared to wander through the garden to kitchen and wc. Umbrella and torch provided. Experience the exquisite quiet of the countryside interspersed by the soothing cooing of woodpigeons and the contented clucking of happy hens. Lounge in the garden as Red Kites soar overhead and, in season, snack on organic produce, especially our sweet organic grapes from the polytunnel. Look up at the milkyway sketched across the night sky and inhale sweet clean air.
The cabin accommodates 2 people, it has its own solar power supply, its south-east facing big windows provide beautiful views of the surroundings. The bed is a comfortable double and there's a fold out table and chairs and an outdoor picnic table.
BREAKFAST: A basket of breakfast goodies will be provided for you to dine at your leisure.
A 30 meter stroll through the garden brings you to the kitchen and a wc/shower room which are housed in a separate cabin. You are welcome to cook in the communal kitchen and make teas and coffee (provided) whenever you please. The kitchen has a small fridge, two hot plates and pots and pans. You'll be sharing the kitchen with other guests, you also have the option to eat in your cabin or at your private picnic table.
We have a garden Chimenea and you are welcome to light a fire there. But we ask you to bring your own fuel, a bag of logs or bale of briquettes and fire-lighters.

Guest access

Ideally you need a car to get the most out of your stay here. There is a taxi service and bike hire. Although Rathdrum and shops are only 2.2km away. There are beautiful walks close by in Avondale easily accessible by foot. By car, there's access to river and sea kayaking, trail biking, hiking and rockclimbing in the Wicklow Mountains. Go for a Wild food forage with local wise-woman Geraldine Kavanagh of Wicklow Wild Foods. There are really good quality restaurants nearby in Rathdrum and Laragh and McCreddin Village. Convenient to BrookLodge & Ballybeg wedding venues

The cabin was very comfortable and warm, and the breakfast was great in their beautiful garden.

Lovely experience. Cabin is exactly as described. Very comfy bed and small seating area. Cabin is well positioned for good privacy. Would have preferred if the shared kitchen was a little further away from main house, but thoroughly enjoy the breakfast basket! Toilet and shower is for your private use with plenty of hot water. A very comfortable stay. :)

Warm, accommodating, and helpful hosts who gave us a nice breakfast in the morning. Even when the hosts were out of town they were reachable and also had another trusted Airbnb host there to welcome us. Nice cottage in a beautiful part of the country.

Although I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Edwin or Fiona. They couldn't have been more communicative and helpful. The place is picture perfect. Exactly as described. Great efforts made by the hosts. The ever so friendly hens were a constant companion to us. The breakfast basket left for us was delightful and delicious. This place is a little gem. I will deffinatly be back.

The cabin is comfortably secluded but not isolated. It is comfortable, big enough for 1 or 2, and very nicely fitted out. The kitchen cabin is very user-friendly and is equipped with all the basics. No oven though, nor microwave, so ready-meals aren't a great idea! Breakfast is super and very generous (in a packed-lunch kind of way!). The bathroom cabin is small but adequate - the shower works best if you hold it by hand. Surrounding area is breathtakingly gorgeous - plenty of hiking, easy access to the coast, and the garden itself is a birdwatching paradise. A car is a great idea - I wouldn't have been without it.

A wonderful, magical place. Perfect for a peaceful and quiet stay. Best thing was having an amazing outdoor-breakfast next to the cabin while watching the sun to rise up - perfect start into the holidays :)

Edwin User ProfileEdwin is a superhost.

We love country living, growing vegetables, keeping poultry, wandering in the great outdoors. We also love to share the beauty that surrounds us. As well as English, Ed speaks fluent German and Dutch and some Spanish. Fiona speaks limited French, with a deceptively good accent!!!
