This is a magical, spiritual, bohemian, 500 year old thatched cottage. It is full of character, 5 miles from Glastonbury town, surrounded by beautiful gardens and long walks, perfect for a cozy getaway. A peaceful haven full of calming energy.

The space

This is a gorgeous, detached (and thatched!) 16th century cottage, with three bedrooms. Perfect for a romantic getaway, a laid back weekend with friends, a peaceful retreat for a family, or a place to get your creative juices flowing. Glastonbury town is just 5 miles away, so a great location if you're here to see the spiritual sites of that pilgrimage town. Stonehenge is exactly one hours drive from the cottage and the historic cathedral town of Wells is 5 miles away as well. Trendy Bruton is just a hop skip and jump away.
There are three bedrooms to choose from, a king sized bed with a wc, a room with a double bed, and a middle room with two single beds (trundle bed). The cottage has an incredibly serene and spiritual vibe. The sitting room is spacious for a cottage and very cozy, with a new gas stove that gives of plenty of heat if you need to warm up. The cottage itself is the picture of a quintessential british cottage, utterly charming, with artistic bohemian touches everywhere, including bespoke painting and stained glass. Its a 500 year old cottage, so don't expect to practice yoga in the sitting room or dining room, where the ceilings are...well, cottage height! Help yourselves to organic greens from the garden anytime they're ready.

Guest access

You'll be able to access all communal parts of the cottage, there is parking space for 2 cars off the lane.

This place is as magical as it looks! The living spaces were cozy and comfortable, the bedrooms were restorative and peaceful, the kitchen perfect for making dinner and breakfast for our family, and the grounds were more enchanting than any of the pictures can show you. It was the most excellent home base for exploring Glastonbury, Bath, Stonehenge, and the surrounding glory of the countryside. We took the advice in the house book and had supper (twice, actually!) at the Red Lion Inn, which was one of the surprise highlights of the whole trip. Freddie was like our personal guide while there-- ready with advice and encouragement every time we reached out with a question. I expect to see this place in my dreams for years, and one day we will return! My family and I were brimming over with glee to have stayed at The Old Thatch!

Nice grounds and quaint house. Great location for the wedding venue in the area. Visit with friends 6" and under, very low beams in the house! Went with my partner who is 6"7 , gave us some great stories though after the weekend :)

A beautiful place which has all the hallmarks for a classic English garden cottage. Lovely walks from the door (spent hours damming the waterfall) and some excellent places to visit nearby. If you are over 6 foot then be aware that our ancestors of 500 years ago were not!

Quirky, higgledy piggledy thatched cottage, perfect for a secluded retreat near Glastonbury, Cheddar, and Wells. Great facilities for cooking, relaxing in the garden and lots of toys and games. Dog friendly and would be perfect with kids, even on rainy days. Kept finding extra bits of the house... we discovered a whole extra two rooms (so that's where the freezer was) on the second night there. Murals on all the walls, fezzes, old telephones, parping car horn, cuddly dinosaurs. Firmly recommended.
