This cozy and inviting home built in 1904 is situated near Eastown and 2 miles from downtown in a walkable neighborhood. Local art and found treasures make for an inviting & soothing space.
My home is more than 100 years old; all the rooms are small with quirky shapes. It is furnished with lots of old and repurposed items giving it a creative vibe. I lean toward minimalism so it's uncluttered and yet welcoming and cozy. Two friendly kitties live here and will greet you during your stay.
Your bedroom is a main floor room with a queen-sized platform bed. You'll find a closet and a small chest of drawers for your belongings. The house has one bathroom located next to the bedroom. While there is no central air conditioning, a window fan is in the room if needed. A space heater is also in your closet for cool nights. I provide fresh linens during your stay.

Feel free to relax in any room on the main floor or outside in the backyard. You'll find a wild garden with outdoor seating and a hammock for two. Keep edibles in the fridge or enjoy some hot tea.
Interaction with guests
One of the best things about hosting visitors to Grand Rapids, is meeting new people and building community through conversation and shared experiences. If I'm free, I'm happy to share a meal at a local restaurant but I also give guests lots of space and expect that most people visit with plans already in mind.
My busy schedule may not allow me to be here to greet you when you arrive but I will send you the code to get in the house just before your visit. I'm also available via text or call to answer questions.
Other things to note
As an avid motorcyclist and budding mechanic, I welcome other motorcyclists. My home is also LGBT friendly. Two very friendly kitties live here. There is a pet door so don't worry about letting them in or out while coming and going. My place is just blocks away from a grocery store, restaurants, coffee shops, and farmer's market. It's convenient and quiet!
Please keep noise levels down from 10PM-8:00AM when at the house but feel free to come and go anytime while staying here. In other words- there's no curfew!
Only registered guests can sleep over but ask if there is a special circumstance for local friends or family, for example.
I recycle and would appreciate it if you do, too.
Tell me if something breaks or gets damaged so I can repair or replace in time for the next guest.
I work as a nurse and am also a writer and tinkerer. I enjoy motorcycling, reading and camping. I've lived in Grand Rapids for many years and love it here. I'm excited about this community and it's vibrant neighborhoods with farm-to-table restaurants and specialty shops. I'm happy to guide you if there's something special you'd like to see while you are here!
