Self-contained annexe attached to 16th-century house. Two spacious rooms (double & triple) with views over a pretty walled garden. Shower room and kitchen. Plenty of parking. Self-service breakfast included. Peaceful location.

The space
The single-story annexe (on the far left of the main photo) is attached to our family home and has its own entrance so you can come and go as you please. Dating from the 1950s, it comprises two light and spacious south / west facing double bedrooms, hall, shower room and kitchen, and is surrounded by a large walled garden. (Note that there is no separate sitting room). Apart from the beds, all furniture dates from the early 20th century, so if your style is modern, minimalist, or matching, this may not be the place for you!

We provide freshly-laundered bedlinen & towels and each room is equipped with a double bed, sofa, table, wardrobe, television/DVD player, hairdryer and Wi-Fi. Both double beds have new Silentnight Easycare Deluxe mattresses (medium to firm) and we use White Company bedlinen. There is limitless hot water from the combi-boiler and the central heating is on an automatic timer, which you can easily override if you need a warmer or cooler room.

The small kitchen has a microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge and is stocked with tea & coffee plus self-service breakfast items (fruit juices, cereals, toast & preserves, yoghurt, pastries). Note that the kitchen does not have a cooker or washing machine.

There is plenty of parking available on our driveway, directly outside the annexe.

BEDROOM ONE
The main bedroom can sleep up to 3 people, having a double bed plus a single sofa-bed which has a proper mattress. (Note that the single bed will normally be presented as a sofa, so let us know when booking if you would like it to be made up as a bed). The large picture-window faces due west and overlooks the herb garden.

BEDROOM TWO
This large south-facing room is light and spacious and has a double bed and sofa. Views out over the walled garden.

BOOKINGS FOR TWO GUESTS
Bookings for 2 people or fewer will have the use of only 1 of the bedrooms unless by prior arrangement, as there will be an additional charge of £10 if both rooms are required.

SOLO TRAVELLERS
Sorry, but we are unable to accept bookings for 1 person on Saturday nights.

CHILDREN AND DOGS
We are unable to host for dogs or for children under 12 years of age.

Guest access
During the warmer months, you are welcome to sit outside in the garden. There are tables & chairs in several places on the lawns.

Other things to note
The annexe is all on one level, so should be suitable for people with limited mobility. Do contact us to check any specific requirements.

If you would like an earlier check-in or a later check-out time, please let us know and we’ll do our best to fit in with your requirements.

For your peace of mind, your bedroom has a lockable door.

Location

Stonehouse, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom

Although close to the M5, Nastend is a small hamlet of only 12 houses on a 'no through' road, accessed via a single-track sunken lane.

Situated just off the Severn Vale, close to the Cotswold escarpment, the Cotswold Way national trail passes just 2 miles from here. There are plenty of beautiful walks in this area, from the high open spaces of the limestone commons, through the beechwoods along the escarpment to the fields and lanes in the valleys.

The recently restored Stroudwater canal goes right past the end of our lane and is perfect for walking, running or cycling towards Stroud, which is 5 miles away. From there, you can either continue along the canal towards Chalford and Cirencester, or take the old route of the railway to Nailsworth which has been converted to a cycle track. We regularly use these safe, scenic routes and can recommend various very lovely cafés along the way.

There are plenty of places to eat out, our local is the very popular Old Badger at Eastington, which is just over a mile away. We also spend many happy evenings at the Bell Inn at Selsley which is always excellent. Both are very popular, so we would recommend advance booking. We have lots of other favourites... too many to list here!

I grew up in the countryside of Gloucestershire and have a deep-rooted attachment to this landscape. I love being outdoors and enjoy gardening, walking, cycling, running and horse riding. I have travelled around Europe, Asia and North America, and am now enjoying a quieter life in this beautiful corner of the South Cotswolds. I have known my husband, Alistair, for many years but we only got round to getting married a few years ago. We are very lucky to have lots of wonderful friends and as well as socialising, we really like going out for day-trips together, or just pottering about in the garden. Oh, and I should mention that I love dogs! We have two tatty little black rescue dogs called Trixie and Rudolf who mean more to me than I can say.
