Cute island, great location with view. Well appointed cottage. No wifi and limited kitchen sundries. Good value for an expensive city.

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Akvileja and would recommend it to anyone! The place is so lovely and peaceful, perfect if you want to relax for a few days. From the balcony, you can see little islands surrounding Vaxholm and beautiful colours as the sun goes down. Our host Cecilia was very friendly and attentive. Breakfast was even brought to the room in a little basket so you can enjoy it on the balcony (with home made apple juice!). It just makes you want to come back.

Cecilia is a wonderful host. It is exactly how you see it in the pictures, clean, comfortable and lovely! The breakfast-basket is just the perfect way to start the day exploring Vaxholm and the beutiful archipelago. We had a great time, thanks Cecilia!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Villa Akvileja B and B 1. It was an easy 30 min drive from Stockholm and the view in the area made it well worth every minute of the drive. It is absolutely beautiful. The area can also be reached by ferry and everything on the island easily accessible by walking. Cecelia is a gracious and very helpful hostess and her BnB is so comfortable and clean. We found many things to do in the area. There is the Vaxholm Castle, shopping, grocery store, hiking and all kinds of options for traveling out to the islands. We enjoyed a 4 hour ferry ride that was a very economical way to enjoy the Archipelago. Cecelia brought breakfast to our room and we were able to enjoy the delicious food while taking in the incredible view from the deck of our room. We highly recommend Villa Akvileja B and B 1 to anyone traveling in Vaxholm.

Welcome to Villa Akvileja!

The house was built in 1878 by Karl August Teodor Johansson and his wife Lovisa Amanda, and it has since then stayed in the family’s possession. It is centrally situated in Vaxholm in the middle of the archipelago with good communications both into Stockholm city and further out into the archipelago.

The villa is located at a height with a breathtaking view of the southern channel and the inlet to Vaxholm. In the rocky garden blooms lavender, peony and obviously Akvileja (Granny’s Nightcap). It is now the fifth generation that lives in the house, which over the years has been expanded and renovated yet kept its original charm.
