Just an hour from Ajaccio in southern Corsica, our old stone village house boasts a wonderful view across the valley and mountains. It’s in the heart of a perched village that’s the departure point for lots of great hikes (trail GR20 nearby).

The space

A lovely combination of charming interior featuring traditional stone, wood, and a real fireplace, with a very sunny outdoor terrace offering great views. Enjoy the mountain atmosphere and friendly warmth of Corsica, in the heart of magnificent countryside, yet just an hour from the sea – a truly unique experience!

Guest access

The entire house is at your disposal (living room, kitchen, two bedrooms with a double bed in each, bathroom, terrace) except for one small locked room, which we keep our belongings in.

Interaction with guests

You’ll be greeted on arrival by someone from the village, who will ensure your stay runs smoothly. We will also chat with you on the phone prior to arrival so you have everything you need when you get there, and we’d be happy to share some tips and ideas for things to do, if you wish.

Other things to note

Life in the village is slow and peaceful, following the rhythms of nature: enjoy la dolce vita, traditional games of boules, a siesta under the chestnut tree, the local wild boar. Go for a hike at any hour, directly from the house (paths through forest glades, across mountain peaks, along rivers, or to thermal springs) or reach the GR20 walking trail in less than an hour by car. Go sightseeing around the villages of southern Corsica or spend a day by the sea – just an hour’s drive away, with magnificent views along the way.

If you're looking to get away from it all, Cristelle's lovely homely house is perfect. Tasso is a very friendly place, and even though our French wasn't perfect, the local community made us feel very welcome. There was plenty of wood for the fire and it was magical to open the shutters each morning onto the Corsican mountains! There are walks directly from the house, although it does take at least an hour to drive to other places of interest, including a supermarket, so it would be ideally suited to those who would like a true getaway. Although there were a few more rustic features to the house, it suited us perfectly. Thank you Cristelle!

A very quiet, remote mountain village - pretty much as expected and described by Cristelle. You really need to be able to speak French to really feel at home here and surrounding villages...........I / we didn't but the locals tried their best in pigeon English for us.

We loved our stay in Cristelle's charming apartment. We'd recommend staying here for anyone looking for some peace and quiet and to experience a typical Corsican village. Cristelle and Fabienne were really helpful with info on the apartment, the village and things to do in the area.

Tasso is such a beautiful area to stay. The village is quaint and quiet and the views from the windows are glorious. You immediately feel relaxed and content up in the mountains breathing in the fresh air. The villages are so kind and helpful especially Fabienne who greets you there and shows you around the house, she was fantastic! The house has everything you need for a comfortable stay and is clean and tidy. Cristelle who owns the house always stayed in contact with us to make sure that we are comfortable and that we have all the information we need for our stay, including some wonderful advice on where to go and what to see! We loved staying there and we would definitely come back when we are in Corsica next.

We enjoyed our stay in Tasso very much. The property is ideal for those looking for a quiet restful place as a base for walking. The views from the front windows both downstairs and the main bedroom are stunning, looking out over the village and the valley below. The property has all that is needed for preparing meals and A washing machine. The wireless internet worked well. The terrace at the back, although it did not get any sun was great for sitting and eating. Just like a set from the "Game of Thrones" We did three walks from the back door. One down the valley to Giovicacce and across to Sampolo and back (map advised) One across to Guitera-les-Bains and back (map advised) and one up from the back of the village towards the refuge Viziluga at Col de Bottagio - no map really needed as the trail is clear, but the first hour and a half is relentlessly up but worth it at the top. We also drove across to Zicavo walking from the refuge Matalza. This walk was beautiful, not difficult and well worth the trip. We took some food with us. There is a food available in Sampolo and Zicavo (limited choice) in addition to the vans that come around the village in the morning. We also had two good meals in the (Chez Antoinne) in Guitera-les-Bains. Thank you.

We had the most amazing time in Tasso. This is a beautiful house in a lovely quaint village. We strongly recommend staying here if you want to enjoy the serenity of the Corsican interior. It was a pleasure to communicate with Cristelle before and during our stay, she provided us with fantastic information and organised an effortless arrival and departure. I really hope we get the opportunity to stay here again in future.

I live in Provence, work in healthcare, and love to travel. It’s a sincere pleasure for my husband and me to welcome you into our houses in Provence and in Corsica, where you’ll be met with authentic charm and restfulness. As avid travellers ourselves, we really notice the many efforts our hosts make for us to feel comfortable and welcome – it’s this same spirit of hospitality that guides us when we, in our turn, receive visitors.
