If you're looking for a relaxing and peaceful place in a beautiful and remote area of West Cork, Catherine's house is the perfect location for you. Very close to Ballydehob and Durrus, it is convenient if you are traveling on the Wild Atlantic Way, visiting Mizen Head or Sheep's Head Peninsulas. Catherine is a wonderful, generous and very helpful host. I really enjoyed chatting while sharing breakfast with her! Her self-built house is 100% ecofriendly with rustic charm and the room is spacious and clean. Thanks again for your warm welcome Catherine!

Catherine's house is so unique and so beautifully placed near the top of mount corin, which was a big effort to get to off the road after a day of biking, but absolutely worth it. Just the walk in alone was magical, followed by a great stay with catherine, who is generous through and through. She shared her house with us, fresh bread, morning breakfast and even a book to take on the road. Thanks a million catherine!

Catherine's house is in an amazing location - very isolated but beautiful. She was very helpful and easygoing, even telling us to help ourselves to some of her lovely homegrown produce. The setting is really idyllic - a place to switch off and enjoy nature. She made sure there were clean sheets on the bed and kindly gave us an extra bed so that we would have space for our daughter. Although I don't usually mind a compost toilet, this one didn't smell great! So if you are someone who cares more about cleanliness than atmosphere, or cant handle the compost toilet this may not be the place for you.

Response from Catherine:
Hi Susy, thanks for your feedback - I’m sorry to hear of your experience with the compost toilet, and that I wasn’t around to see what was at the root of it. For many of my guests, this is their first experience with a compost toilet, so I want it to be a positive one. I’ve been in and out of that room today trying to see if I could smell anything untoward but all seemed fine. If you have any ideas/suggestions as to what might have been causing the problem, maybe you could send me a private message? Thanks again, Catherine

I am a relatively easy-going host (I think!). I have traveled a lot in the past, but less so recently and so now I enjoy learning about other places from people passing through. My interests are music, earth spirituality, environment, people, politics and the state of the world in general.
I like healthy, mostly organic food. Breakfast is a self-service affair, unless you want to join me for porridge. Generally the options are muesli, toast, eggs, tea, coffee and juice. If you enjoy cooking and want to make something more exotic, please let me know and I will get the ingredients. Also, I don't drink milk, so if you need it, please let me know in advance.
