This comfortable one bedroom studio has all you need for a visit to SF, including washer/dryer and fully equipped kitchen. A queen size, real bed combined with a large shower and big screen TV make it home away from home. Close to public transportation and shopping. Note that the apartment is in South San Francisco in a quiet neighborhood with plenty of free parking. Walking to the BART or CalTrain is do-able in 25 min, but most people Uber-Lyft there. This is not a party pad.

The space
Perfect for those who travel from out of town for an extended stay (where you can cook for yourself if you like) and want to be close to downtown for the convenience, but also want some peace and quiet (as well as cheaper local restaurants). Plenty of street parking. This is in South San Francisco. As with most residences in South San Francisco, there is no air conditioning, as it rarely gets over 80 degrees. If it does, open the windows and enjoy the fresh air.

This is not a party pad. While it is a fully independent unit, with its own entrance, it is built into the downhill side of our home. Accordingly, we ask all guests to be respectful and keep noise levels down between 11pm and 7am.

There are 9 steps and a short 20 foot slate path from the street to the apartment.

South San Francisco (a small city of its own) has a great downtown area (not to be confused with the south part of San Francisco) with many shops and restaurants. The apartment has great views of the Bay, yet close to public transportation, and walking distance to grocery stores (1 mile). Trader Joes and Costco, 1.7 miles away!

I am a road warrior afraid that moss will grow under my feet. I travel light, and don't carry much.
Having me as a guest: I'm the type of guest that is equal to the type of guest that I'd like to have as a host. That means I clean up after myself. I respect others' property and privacy, yet I'm open to hanging out and getting to know the host, and would love that also. I like to make a contribution to the household rather than being an energy suck. That could include doing my share of chores, buying some groceries, treating for dinner, etc.
Things I can't live without include my family, friends, bicycle and backpack.
Favorite places include the mountain peak in back of my house, and other high places in Switzerland.
Favorite authors include Malcolm Gladwell and George Friedman, Daniel Pink, and Al Barabasi. Favorite movies include Jerry Maguire and Legends of the Fall.
I love all kinds of music.
I've recently become a vegan for the last 8 years and see no need to eat meat or animal products other than an occasional lobster and cheese:).

During your stay

When I'm home, of course I like to meet new people from different parts of the world and share a glass of wine. However, I realize many guests want a get away and of course I respect privacy. Just like Housekeeping in a hotel, sometimes we have to get in and fix things. Occasionally, I may need to get into the apartment to let a repair man in or fix a drain, etc. I will let you know in advance.

When I'm home, of course I like to meet new people from different parts of the world and share a glass of wine. However, I realize many guests want a get away and of course I respe…
