Chassenat is a wonderful paradise in the Dordogne. On the steps of the historic manor you have a beautiful view of the courtyard with fountain and symmetrical outbuildings. In the season it is rented to one party at a time.
The manor of the estate dates from 1728 and is in very good condition. Two farmhands in the outbuildings have been combined into a simple cottage, the renovation was completed in 2011.
The atmosphere of the original manor is one of old wooden floors, panoramic view from high windows with shutters, the smell of fire, wax or freshly mown grass and a terrace where you overlook the courtyard or look up at the night sky.
The manor with a total area of approximately 600 m2, has 2 floors and has 4 bedrooms. On the ground floor are 2 authentic bedrooms with double beds. On the upper floor are 2 modest bedrooms, 1 with a double bed and 1 with 2 single beds. All 4 bedrooms have private bathrooms, 3 with a bathtub.
There is a living room with large fireplace and a dining room with piano. The kitchen is simple and cozy. The upper floor is also the attic and has a large room with many books, a pool table, drawing table, chairs, benches and plenty of space to play. Under the house is a basement (300 m2), which includes the washing machine. The walls are thick, so it is nice and cool in the summer.
Facilities further include: fireplace in the living room, central heating on the ground floor, electric heaters upstairs, a piano, a pool table, library, games/painting corner, washing machine, wifi, CD player with iPod docking station, a Nespresso machine and a cot and high chair.
There is no television and DVD, no dishwasher and no dryer. Experience shows that it isn’t passed through as an absence, on the contrary. It is a privilege to hang the laundry on the idyllic clotheslines on the outside of the court. Where it is often dry within an hour ...
If you rent Chassenat in the season, you have the estate all to yourself and access to everything.
The manor accommodates 8 people. For an additional fee you can rent the cottage, six people can stay here. Chassenat is rented in the season to one party at a time. Only in the period October to April it is possible that the cottage is rented to another party.
Interaction with guests
The exchange of information and reservations go through us in the Netherlands. On site you will be welcomed by an English couple, Tony & Heather, who hand over the keys. They take care of the pool and change the beds once a week. Tony can also be of assistance as a cook!
Other things to note
In one of the outbuildings is the cottage. Before the renovation this annex consisted of stalls and two country laborers. The latter merged in 2011 into a modest cottage of 200 m2. It has a large living/dining room with fireplace and kitchen on the ground floor. On the first floor there are 3 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, 1 with bath. The whole cottage has central heating.
From the cottage you have a wide view over the adjacent rolling fields. Facilities include a fireplace in the living room.
In the season you can rent the cottage only with the manor.
LONG STAY GÎTE
Off season the cottage can be rented separately for at least a month, from October 3, 2015 until April 23, 2016. Ideal for a long stay in the French countryside!
