Welcome! Rest well in boutique, green built studio apartment created with care in bungalow home, just 3 blocks to South Hill’s Manito Park & near neighborhood bakery. Radiant heat floors will sooth your soles, large soaking tub, private entrance, Cable Smart TV. Excellent host, walking distance to local cuisine and 5 beautiful parks, quiet residential neighborhood!

The space
Thank you for your interest in this green built studio apartment. I really enjoyed creating this fun space for our Airbnb guests and hope you'll enjoy your stay.

A private mud room entrance leads into your sustainably built studio apartment in our family’s daylight basement. This thoughtful and creative studio includes AC (earth friendly coolant), radiant heat floors over Italian porcelain plank tile, an inviting and locally crafted kitchenette with stainless steel appliances (made from recycled steel), a large bathroom w/ antique soaking tub, Queen bed with therapeutic mattress and enough pillows to keep you comfy, down duvet and quality bedding.

You will enjoy free high speed internet, a Smart TV where you can watch your Hulu, Netflix or Amazon Prime or tune into the studio’s cable channels. We also have a Blue-ray player and some DVDs. Many guests enjoy taking walks from the studio through amazing Manito park to gourmet eateries such as Spokane's favorite neighborhood Rockwood Bakery famous for their boho interior, lattes, quiche and baked goods.

The studio apartment is just 3 blocks to Manito Park (90 acres of beautiful park) and Duncan Gardens, a few blocks to urban hiking/mountain biking, a short walk to Comstock's Public Pool & Park, near plenty of neighborhood restaurants (see list below) a 3-5 minute drive or a 15-20 minute walk away.

Locally crafted kitchenette offers basic stainless steel appliances including: small electric cook top, toaster, coffee maker, tea kettle, compact fridge, microwave, dishes, pots, pans and cutlery.

A portion of the courtyard is still in the construction stage, we ask for your pardon while we make improvements to the guest's future garden/court yard.

Walking distance to eateries, parks, the city's best mountain biking and urban hiking.

Restaurants within a 3-5 minute drive (15-20 minute walk):
Lindaman's (gourmet bistro, wine, and mixed drinks)
Rockwood Bakery
The Scoop (local ice-cream)
Manito Tap House and Gastropub
Republic Pi (wood fired pizza)
Gingers (sushi)
Bangkok Thai
Fiesta Mexicana
Slickrock Burrito (local/healthy burritos)
Other business's nearby: Banks, Grocery stores, Pharmacies, Trader Joe's, Farmer's Markets

We now have exterior cameras to monitor the exterior of our home.

We hope you'll enjoy your stay!

Guest access
Private entrance, studio apartment, high speed internet, cable TV, Blu-ray player, iron/ironing board, hair dryer, microwave, coffee maker, tea kettle, mini fridge and two burner cook top.

Other things to note
This is a daylight basement apartment in a family home, once in while sound travels from our young children, we provide a fan and a white noise sound machine if needed. We are active and want you to know before booking that this is a private studio in a family home.

There are 2 stairs and stepping into and out of a deep claw foot tub as well as 2 steps to the exterior entrance.

You will find organic coffee and tea to get you started in the morning. If you chose not to cook there are plenty of great breakfasts places nearby.

Shower is in the claw foot tub so you’ll have less head room than in a standard walk in shower. On the other hand the bonus is that you get a creative space with a unique large claw foot soaking tub.

We now have exterior cameras to monitor the exterior of our home.

Tucked in a quiet neighborhood but just minutes away from downtown and only 3 blocks from endless walking paths and gardens at the expansive Manito Park, blocks away from additional neighborhood parks and walking distance (15-20 minute approx. walk) to gourmet neighborhood restaurants and fun coffee bistros.

We appreciate the history of the neighborhood, the bungalow and craftsman homes, the quiet, established trees, morning bird songs and variety of well-cared for flower and vegetable gardens.

Work...the job that inspires me most is motherhood, I’ve never known such a deep and never ending love before. I’ve spent many years as a Higher Ed Publishing Consultant and I absolutely love hosting. I care greatly about providing my guests with a sparkling clean, Covid-Free place to call home while traveling. I love to travel off the beaten path, mostly through Central and South American although I’ve been to West Africa, Australia and have traveled throughout Europe. I value the people I meet, love learning new languages and staying in a local area is always preferred over a touristy area or chain hotel. When I was a child my family had a rustic cabin in Northern Idaho near Priest Lake that my dad built, we’d cross country ski into it during the winter months with all our supplies for the weekend. I think I was 2 when we started. I loved our wood burning stove, my dog that would sleep at the bottom of my sleeping bag and the never ending trails around the cabin. I miss that place! Hobbies...I grew up backpacking and still love to get away to the mountains. I took my daughter on her first trip when she was 18 months old and she hiked the entire trail, made mama proud! Before kids I snowboarded and climbed, a lot. These days I do more snowshoeing and hiking. I love gardening and we’ve created an edible landscape around our home where a lot of grass once grew. I love my garden and I love other people’s gardens. There isn’t a Dahlia or a vegetable garden anywhere that won’t cause me to pause and take in the beauty. I greatly value the honesty found in friendships and am a seeker of opportunities to play or relax. My house is filled with laughter, the aroma of a good meal and original art work. I grew up in Spokane. I left to explore the world and attend college in the mid 90's, returned home in 2005. It has been a dream to live in the Manito Park/Comstock/Cannon neighborhood and I'm grateful for it multiple times a day. On a side note: I have been very active in the community during these years in Spokane. One of my achievements affects airbnb guests traveling to Spokane. Back in 2013, the City of Spokane abruptly fined and shut down Airbnbs. I believe there were about 5 of us then. After closing my doors, I worked to transform this policy by forming a group of individuals comprised of Airbnb Hosts, BnB owners, City Counsel, Code Enforcement, our Mayor and State Legislators to legalize Airbnbs that get permitted. This process took over 6 months, it wasn’t easy but we did it. Many Airbnbs in the city are still illegal, but those with a business license who get permitted by the city and give back by paying the permit fee and taxes are legal. I’m proud to be one of these legal Airbnbs. The money we pay in taxes and fees helps to fund our beautiful parks, maintain our roads and much more. Thank you for choosing a legal airbnb w/ an active business license for your stay. I look forward to guiding you toward my favorite neighborhood walks, local cuisine and more.
