A unique holiday experience in a basic but cosy log cabin, surrounded by alpacas, donkeys and shetland ponies, rolling hills and mountains, a Bronze Age 5 Stone Row and a beautiful river walk complete with stunning waterfall and swimming hole .

The space
A self contained kitchen and spacious bed sit which can sleep four or kids can camp , amenities are very basic but if you love to be surrounded by nature and animals in the wilds of Ireland then this will be heaven for you ! There is only one cabin to rent so you have the farm and walk all to yourselves .

Guest access
Guests are entirely independent but can , by prior arrangement ,take alpacas for a walk, all guests are invited to meet and feed the animals and learn a bit about alpacas ( as well as alpacas there are cats , dogs , rabbits giant and dwarf , donkeys and Shetland ponies ) Guests have access to the beautiful farm walk at all times.

Other things to note
The cabin is situated within a fenced area so very secure for small children and there are 2 rivers , one being smaller than the other with shallow pools and lovely safe areas for small people to enjoy or if you ve bigger kids the waterfall is very deep and lots of fun for the brave ! the toilet is situated aprox 30m from the cabin and the shower room is at the back of the kitchen - you can watch the clouds whilst you shower - lovely to shower with a view but might put some off especially out of season !

As well as our beautiful river walk that's on the farm, Castledonovan is spoilt for walks in every direction with the Drimoleague Heritage Walkways , connected with The Sheeps Head Way, which offer walks of varying levels of difficulty /distance to suit all types . Theres also the castle itself of course , having recently been partially renovated its very impressive , 10 minutes walk away and very worth a visit .

I love nature and animals and love to share that passion , I feel its essential that children have the chance to connect with nature and carry that love through their lives to become the environmentalists of tomorrow .
During your stay
We are available to help with ideas of things to do and directions or if people want to meet our animals but guests are basically left to enjoy their own peace and quiet .
