The Mochizuki district of Saku City is known as Komanosato as long ago as the birthplace of horses, and has a deep human-horse relationship.
We renovated the staff dormitory at Maikoen in Kasuga Onsen, which was created as a symbol of this.
Since the moon means the full moon, the curve was scattered in various places and finished with wood and lacquer.
From the window, you can see the horses walking and dancing around the stable.
Kasuga Onsen is a very good hot spring area with over 300 years of history, located in a rich natural environment.
There are onsen ryokans and quiet parks within walking distance, and if you stretch your legs a bit, you can meet the unique shops of Mogetsu.
Enjoy hot water while enjoying the flow of old times, with the life and landscape of ancestors who lived with horses.

The space
Sanson Terrace "Waltz of Wooden Horses"
is a cottage built on the mountainside in the Kasuga Hot Spring area, at an altitude of 950 meters.
In the immediate vicinity, you'll find a hot spring inn, Ma Gongyuan, a restaurant specializing in cheese, and an idyllic park.
The waltz baths at Kima are not onsen, but there are three hot spring ryokans within walking distance where you can take a day bath, so you can enjoy the excellent quality of the spring water at Kasuga Onsen.

The facility consists of a kitchen, dining room, living room, bathroom, toilet and bedroom on the ground floor. There are two bedrooms on the second
floor and a small attic.Outside there is a terrace.

The interior was created consciously with a balance between wood, lacquer and curves.
Trees use a wide variety of species, including larch, cedar, cypress, narra, chestnut, moss, toad, nile, strawberry, and cypress.

If you are two people, you can stay gracefully on the first floor only, and if you are a large group such as a family of futons, you can use it on the second floor and spend it at a reasonable size.
Groups of 3 or more students only, and groups of 5 or more young people only, are not allowed.

Hello, I’m Daigo.
I live in a small village surrounded by mountains with my wife, our daughter and a cat. The village name is Sakuho town in Nagano.
My life changed a lot by experiences of building a cottage with my friends, and of being big influenced from the summer-cottage culture in Finland.

My job and lifework is creating new countryside lifestyle and culture for our generation through building spaces by ourselves hands. I’m not professional carpenter, so it takes long time to build, but I would like to make spaces which is unique, individuality, warmly, and rooted in the lands.
At this moment, I have finished to build four spaces and I would like to build more spaces little by little…

・"old silk worm house" since 2016 (
・"hut Juksul" since 2018 (
・"waltzing horse" since 2021 (

You must understand that food cultures in this area are really high when you stay here. Vegetables, fruits, fishes from mountain rivers, hams and sausages, breads, Japanese sake, cafes, restaurants… Many fascinating people build food cultures rooted in this area.
There are no famous sightseeing spots, but there are excellent lives.
I am so happy you enjoy our life cultures and spend relaxing time!
