Awesome host. We were delighted with this place - comfortable and well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Would recommend a shop before you reach the park. The owner told us about some great walks closeby and a beautiful swimming hole within walking distance of the house. 5 stars!

Casa de Ribo was our favorite part of our stay in Portugal. We had trouble with our GPS not being able to lead us directly to the house so we had to call Mario who quickly retrieved us from the park we were waiting in and led us to the house. It is a charming, clean and well equipped home. It was a little cool when we visited and he provided us with extra blankets and brought extra firewood to keep us nice and warm. Between his limited English and our limited Spanish, we were able to communicate quite well. He recommended a beautiful drive with a stop at a hot springs which was a highlight of our trip. The first night we arrived, there was only one restaurant open, but it was the best meal we ate in Portugal. The highlight for our 3-year-old (and us) was seeing locals walk there cows and sheep on the streets right by our house and lots of friendly kitty cats throughout the village. We highly recommend Casa De Ribo!

The village of Soajo is beautiful and picturesque with it almost entirely being made out of stone. The local shops provide what you need including delicious local sausage, honey, cheese and eggs. Marios home is an absolute gem nestled in the old residential area of the village and provides evrything you could need. As a host Mario is an inspiring person to meet in addition to being an efficient host. He is so warm and friendly and radiates a joy for life and its beauty. Thank you for a wonderful stay Mario.

Mario welcomed us warmly and was very amiable and patient with our limited Portuguese. We managed to communicate very well! The bountiful fruit basket, homemade jams, and cherries preserved in local ginginhia were such nice welcoming details as well. We benefitted from Mario's extensive knowledge of the area and the activities around the area, with interesting historical remarks. We followed his suggestions (also written out in the detailed guidebook he provided) and enjoyed day trips to Arcos de Valdevez, Ermelo, and the "destress" driving tour along the Portugal/Spain border from Soajo to Lindoso - Lobios - Entrimo (amazing cathedral) - Castro Laboreiro (climb up to the mountain top fortress) - Peneda (amazing cathedral) - Soajo. The residents of the village are friendly, and it was a unique experience to get to experience life here for a short while. Enjoyed wandering around the various lanes throughout the village and the greeeaaat food in the village restaurants.

We really loved this place! Mario is a great host who welcomed us warmly. The house is cosy and has everything you need. It is just a short walk to the central square where you can park your car and the bakery. Because the house is in the center of the town you can really experience local life (including sheep and horses passing by). From this location we made several beautiful hikes. Various good restaurants at walking distance. We enjoyed wandering around the streets of Soajo.
