Where you’ll be

Mata de São João, Bahia, Brazil

Imbassai has 6 kilometers of waterfront where it is possible to appreciate a rich nature.

Imbassaí offers a structure for the practice of activities such as surfing, paddle boarding, kayaking, kite surfing, volleyball and football, with emphasis on the waterfront promenade with bike path, where it is possible to ride a bike, walk or run.

The waterfront promenade borders the river and then follows the length of the beach.

Imbassai also has a service infrastructure (banks, pharmacies, markets, etc.) as well as super charming bars and restaurants.

TOURS and ACTIVITIES

Wooden penguins – One of the first options arriving in Imbassaí is to take a walk in the penguins, small wooden boats (similar to a raft) typical of the region.  They make the crossing from the Beira-Rio Square to the beach tents.  Walking along the river and the small streams formed along the beach.  The tour is short, about 5 minutes, but it is worth checking out the landscape from another angle. To make the crossing, just reach the bridge that the penguins are always available

Kayak and sup – Performing water activities on the river is an excellent leisure option for adults and children.  It is possible to rent kayaks and paddle boards quite easily

Surf – Imbassaí beach has strong waves and good training, more suitable for experienced surfers.  But there is also the possibility of taking surf lessons, more safely, with local teachers.

Paragliding – Do you want to see Imbassai from a privileged point of view?  A paragliding (or paramotor) tour is possible on a double flight accompanied by the instructor.

Bicycles – Rent bicycles and go through 4.5 km of the bike path that circles the village, inns, restaurants and the extension of the beach, enjoying the sea view.

Quad bikes – Venture on a 11-mile course of climbs and decide on a trail that passes through rivers and rapids.  The tour takes an average of two hours and offers stops for bathing in the river.

Waterfall – The waterfall of Dona Zilda is formed by the crystal clear waters of the Imbassaí Pequeno River.   Your visitors can bathe amid coconut trees, cashew trees and native trees of the sandbank.   The Santo Antônio farm, where the waterfall is located, also has a restaurant and parking.

Lagoon – Another preciousness that deserves to be seen are the rust tone waters and surrounded by white sand dunes of the Jauara lagoon.  The lagoon is between Imbassaí and Praia do Forte.

Handicrafts - The region's artisans transform piaçavas straw into colorful products well known in the region.  They are handbags, hats, wallets, American games that are sold on the beaches and beasts.

MORE ACTIVITIES IN the NEIGHBORHOOD

Diogo

Less than 5km from Imbassaí, Diogo is a native community of fishermen and artisans.    Santo António beach and the celebrated Sombra da Mangueira restaurant are the attractions.
The quiet and secluded beach of Santo António, is considered one of the most beautiful on the north coast.  To access its white sands and full of coconut trees, it is necessary to follow from the Vila de Diogo through the dunes, a beautiful walk of about 20 minutes.
The Sombra da Mangueira restaurant, on the other hand, has one of the most famous and coveted moquecas in the region, served in the shadow of the huge fruit tree that gives the restaurant its name.

Praia do Forte

The best known destination of the North Coast.
Praia do Forte is 10 km from Imbassaí, and offers many leisure options, from beaches with natural pools, trails and ecological reserve, to a charming Villa with an excellent offer of restaurants, bars, cafes and shops (with options ranging from handicrafts to premium brand products).

Garcia D´Ávila Castle – Tumbled by IPHAN, Garcia D´Ávila Castle is an important historical and cultural heritage of Brazil.  It is a military and residential fortification built by the Portuguese. Its medieval characteristics remain preserved.

Tamar Project – An important research, management and protection project for 05 species of endangered sea turtles.

Instituto Baleia Jubarte – An important initiative that gathers in a space replicas and skeletons of the Humpback Whale – who always visit the coast of Praia do Forte from July to October – and chats with environmental educators about this large mammal.
