Situated near the tiny, remote village of Ardfield on the Wild Atlantic Way in beautiful West Cork, Seascape Cottage is cute and quirky with panoramic sea views. Part of a barn conversion, the cottage has bags of exposed wood and Irish vintage charm. Ardfield is just 4 rambling miles from the nearby and lively little town of Clonakilty which has loads of restaurants and pubs with live music.

The space
Seascape cottage is part of a barn conversion, next to Holy Well Cottage. It is an upside-down house with an open-plan living space upstairs and two compact double rooms and a shower room downstairs. Upstairs there is a kitchen and sitting/dining space with a log burning stove. There is an adjoining conservatory with views over Rosscarbery Bay and beyond. Attached to the conservatory is a deck with a BBQ and a viewing platform so you can sit outside and enjoy the view! With quirky details, a clutter of books about Ireland and lots of vintage Irish crockery you can have a truly authentic Irish holiday at Seascape cottage.

Where you’ll be

Ardfield, Cork, Ireland

Ardfield is remote and beautiful, but lively too with it's own festival that happens in the first week of August. Sitting out on a peninsula in the Atlantic Ocean, with the Galley Head lighthouse at it's tip.

Ardfield is surrounded by beautiful beaches - big and small - great for surfing, swimming, sand castle building or just a beautiful walk. There's lots of wildlife and heritage about too. There are salt water marshes ideal for bird watching, along with rugged cliffs for spotting costal birds.

There are lovely heritage seaside towns to visit, like Kinsale, Clonakilty, Glendore and Baltimore. There are heritage centres in Kinsale, Bandon, Clonakilty and Skibbereen. For those with an interest in Irish history there is lots to learn about the Famine in West Cork, and to find out about Michael Collins, who was born just down the road in Woodfield and worked and lived in Clonakilty.

In Ardfield there is a lovely new playground with lots of fantastic climbing frames, swings and a zip wire. O'Sullivan's Mountain House pub is lively and in the summer does coffees and toasted specials during the day (toasted specials are an Irish delicacy - a toasted sandwich with ham, cheese, onion and tomato).

Seascape Cottage is a great option for people attending weddings at Dunmore House Hotel. And for those of you not attending a wedding there, it's worth for the food and the view! It is also a good option for those attending weddings at Inchydoney Island Lodge and Spa.

During your stay

Your hosts, Rosie and Mike, live over the road. They are as quirky as their cottages. Rosie plays bodhran in O'Donovan's Hotel, Clonakilty in a traditional Irish music group. She may give you a lesson if you ask nicely ... or a 'spin' down to 'Clon' so you can enjoy a creamy pint of stout and listen to the music and craic! Mike is a great raconteur and can often be found admiring the flowers with a glass of wine in hand, ready for a chat.
