Situated in the Aldinga Arts Eco-Village, we offer an eco-experience, retro style. Passive solar design, with your own veggie garden, it has 3 large bedrooms, with easy access to Port Willunga Beach, McLaren Vale wineries and a halfway stop to KI!
Eco-experience, retro style. Sounds incompatible? Northerly aspect, high thermal mass and passive solar design, the shack needs no heating or cooling, other than fans and cross breezes. 3 large bedrooms, one queen, one double and the third bedroom with one single bed. Expansive living area opening out into an outdoor entertaining area overlooking your own vegetable garden, all decorated in mid-century style. A fantastic example of 'Up Cycling'.
While here, guests can share in the communal orchards of the village, including plums, peaches, nectarines, pears, apples, guavas, figs, almonds, pomegranates, and so much more. Guests are welcome to enjoy walking around the Village where walking, children and bicycles have priority over cars.
I can arrange for the hire of bicycles and kayaks, which will be delivered to your beach of choice.
Interaction with guests
I live close by in the Village and am easily contactable if need be.
Other things to note
We are now coming into the Christmas season. Every Friday from 3.30-5.30, freshly picked veggies from our organic farm are sold in the village car park. Fridays after 5 is on every Friday evening from 5-9 until April with markets, live music and pop up food vans. Why not stay close to the beach and wineries and let he train take you directly into the centre of the city if you need to go into Adelaide.
In true retro style, the Kaz's Retro Retreat includes a retro record player and guests are encouraged to request the type of vinyl they would like to spin.
To treat my place as your own.
No smoking in the house or outside in the Ecovillage.
Cleaning fees are not included so please leave the house as you found it.
I am from South Australia (I am an environmental law professor) and my partner Lou runs a local retro shop, Lou's Shack. We love music and art and our local wineries. I do a lot of travel with work and we like a more low key type of accommodation in less touristy localities, where we can explore the city by bicycle and indulge in local food and wine. Our favourite destination in NYC and we were lucky to spend part of last winter in Spain.
