Bright Water Lodge is a heritage cottage lovingly restored into a warm and inviting home situated in the pristine Upper Esk Valley along the banks of the South Esk River, tucked between Ben Lomond National Park and Mt Saddleback. Cosy up by the fire, kick back on the deck, bask in native birdsong or soak up the atmosphere of farm life. Surrounded by paddocks and forest, where favorite farm yard animals can be viewed. This really is the perfect getaway for those seeking something special.

The space
Bright water Lodge is a Heritage Cottage, once the local community and dance hall during the Mathinna Golden Gate Mine gold rush between 1888 and 1932. Now Lovingly restored into a warm and comfortable haven for travelers to sit back and soak in the beauty of this incredible landscape.

Bright Water Lodge comfortably sleeps up to 10 guests. The welcoming interior has been designed with comfort and warmth in mind. Boasting 3 spacious bedrooms, 2 rainwater bathrooms, full rainwater kitchen and lounge around a wood burning fire. We supply all firewood required for your stay.

Full smart T.V and WiFi access is provided, including a many-and-varied book selection for the whole family, plus a variety of favorite indoor and outdoor games. There is also picnic gear provided for your pleasure: Perfect conditions for those seeking an active or a relaxing stay, plus the option for a digital detox.

Outside, enjoy the large fenced garden and entertaining area. The spacious hand milled deck, gas BBQ and fire pit surrounded by seasonal wildflower and vegetable gardens. Perfect & picturesque: Ideal for pure relaxation and small functions.

Located on Ring Of Bright Water Farm. 10 acres of working Hobby Farm featuring many friendly farm animals; ducks, chooks, rabbits, sheep, a horse, even a pair of peacocks that love to visit guests. Enjoy the ambiance of farm life, animal antics, all of which can be observed from the comfort of the lodge or the spacious deck, which overlooks Saddle back mountain. *Working areas of the farm cannot be accessed to ensure guest safety.

You are invited to explore the stunning Bright Water Walk along the banks of the South Esk River which wraps the entire 10 acres of farm, and can be enjoyed from boundary to boundary and beyond. Picnics, platypus and other native wildlife spotting, swimming, fishing or simply a stroll along the beautiful banks is highly recommended.

Photographers and nature lovers will be enchanted by the abundant local wildlife - expect to see wombats, quolls, echidnas, platypus, wallaby, fallow deer, bandicoot, tiger cats, Wedge tailed eagles and countless other native bird species, even the elusive Tasmanian devil!
We also have ZERO light pollution, which makes Bright Water Lodge a unique location to see the stunning Milky Way and stargaze like never before or photograph the Aurora Australis when active.

Hikers, snow lovers and explorers will delight in our proximity to surrounding mountains, walking trails and waterfalls including the Ben Lomond Ski fields and Alpine Village, Mt Saddleback, Mathinna Falls and the Evercreech Forest Reserve, which features the famous White Knights, said to be the tallest gum trees in the world.
