The Bonnet is a beautifully converted top floor of a stonemason's cottage in the Stroud Valleys. Beautiful views, very tranquil, private access, 1 guest parking space. Compact kitchen and shower room, hand made oak double bed inlaid with stars.

The space

'The Bonnet' at No. 1 Yew Tree Cottages is a delightful, bright and cosy self-contained flat. It occupies the top floor of a Victorian stonemason's cottage in Rockness. There are wonderful views and a feeling of tranquillity. The only access is through the front door, reached by the pretty blue staircase seen in the photos.

The Bonnet is open plan, with a star spangled oak double bed (made by the owner), a compact kitchen and neat shower room. Heating is provided by the wood-burning stove, (logs are supplied), with back up electric radiators. The woodburner will be lit to welcome you making it very warm and inviting, if it is cold !! Tea, coffee, milk ,croissant and home made jam will be there for your arrival. There is no TV, but there is internet access.
Cotton sheets and towels are provided.
You are welcome to wander, sit in the garden.

Guest access

The Bonnet is completely private and self-contained, having its own entrance, and one guest car parking space. We ask that you arrive after 4pm, and leave by 11am.

Interaction with guests

The owner, Fiona Valentine has a wood workshop in the garden, and two friendly and well behaved collies, and is generally on hand to welcome you and tell you about the area.

Other things to note

I am afraid although this site says The Bonnet can take extra guests, it can only accomodate two people !!

We loved our stay at The Bonnet, it's the perfect little studio cottage for a couple of nights in Nailsworth. We arrived late as we had driven from London but this was no problem at all. After dropping off our belongings, we walked 10 minutes down the hill into the town and enjoyed a nice meal at Amalfi. Fiona was very accommodating, there were croissants and other goodies left for us on arrival so we didn't need to head out for breakfast. I would definitely recommend The Bonnet, it's set in a really beautiful location and Fiona is a great host! Thank you! x

The Bonnet is a wonderfully charming and comfortable cottage. The view is 100% green valley and you feel totally immersed in the landscape that surrounds you. Very relaxing experience throughout. Can't wait to return. Fiona is equally charming and accommodating. Super host!

If you're searching for a place for two in the Cotswolds don't think twice about booking here! Everything you think you could need- Fiona has already thought of it. From the wood burning fire, to the beautifully carved oak bed, to the homemade jam and croissants sat waiting for our arrival. Cook for yourselves in the lovely kitchen, or walk 7 minutes to the local pub for some very reasonable and delicious food! We could not have asked for better, thank you Fiona!

We stayed for three nights. Fiona was great at contacting us before we arrived and giving directions on how to get to the Bonnet. It is a lovely studio with some quirky features including a bed inlaid with stars based on a ship made by Fiona, and great views over a wooded valley. We were welcomed on arrival and everything we could have wanted was there as well as plenty of tips for the local area. A great stay and we would definitely try and stay at the Bonnet again if we were in the area. Highly recommended.

Our stay was wonderful. Thanks so much to Fiona for being such a welcoming host. The location was nice and quiet but still walking distance to town which is great. The apples from the garden were delicious and so was Fiona's homemade jam with the croissants! We will definitely return again! James and Ayumi

We thought the location was quaint and secluded. Every need was met Useful staples and breakfast supplied. Spotlessly clean. A welcoming host.
