A refuge of calm, free from distraction, SABI is your space to breathe with permission to rest. A pared back, wabi sabi cabin in the heart of the Bay of Fires, SABI is a retreat that beckons solitude and stillness.

Unpretentious in luxury, SABI's considered design is a demonstration in restraint. A serene space that soothes and restores, a haven for the senses.

SABI is sublime in its simplicity where luxury means space. To experience SABI is an awakening.

The space
Hidden from the world, you will find a lovingly handcrafted stone cabin that is pure in its authenticity. Elegant in form, with earthy tones and raw textures, SABI is a one-of-a-kind, considered stay.

Humble materials and a limited colour palette create a cohesive and grounding experience, while raising one’s awareness to a different kind of luxury.

SABI is raw but refined in its minimalism; a quality of serene beauty expressed as a mood of spiritual solitude. The space is elegant and timeless in its beauty. To experience SABI is to feel a quiet and tranquil condition; elegant in its simplicity, where understated beauty has developed with the passage of time.

Every detail has been chosen with purpose. It is intentionally spare and minimal in design providing a place of quietude. SABI is about celebrating negative space; there is no excess, no clutter, no distraction. Rather, timeless simplicity that gives one permission to breathe, to discover inner peace - this is our definition of luxury.

The space boasts two king size bedrooms that accommodate four guests. Located on the mezzanine, you will find the primary suite. Here, a king size bed sits atop a purpose built platform rendered in textured microcement. Accompanying the primary suite is a dedicated Japanese-inspired onsen, with a repurposed wooden barrel that features a bespoke liner handcrafted from salvaged copper. The second bedroom located on the ground floor has its own custom-built, king size platform bed.

A fully equipped kitchen comes complete with an induction cooktop and oven. Custom ceramic dinnerware, mouth-blown glassware, cast-iron cookware, speciality Japanese knives and ceremonial tea making and coffee brewing all make for a curated experience.

Adjacent to the kitchen is the dining space with bespoke table and stools made using reclaimed Tasmanian Oak. Rich in texture and weathered by time, this piece, like many of our handmade elements, was designed by us and crafted especially for SABI by Tasmanian artisans.

The lounge pays homage to a stone fireplace constructed from local granite that soars six metres high into the vaulted ceiling. Flanked by acres of couch there are two futon-inspired mattresses that rival the largest of daybeds.

The bathroom is a draw card in its own right. Reminiscent of a Moroccan hideout, the wetroom showcases floor to ceiling microcement evoking a spa-like ambience. An oversized rain shower, bespoke handmade brass tapware and fittings, and a reclaimed wooden trough once used to collect foraged berries and prove dough, now sits proudly as a wall hung basin.

The house is somewhat of a juxtaposition: it is romantic but not feminine; masculine yet nurturing; voluminous in space but intimate in feel; raw and earthy yet sensual and decadent; it is humble but refined; natural in material but cosy and inviting; it is honest and authentic but mysterious; it is quiet and unassuming but unapologetically unique. It is SABI.

Where you’ll be

Binalong Bay, Tasmania, Australia

Located in the absolute heart of the Bay of Fires, Binalong Bay is a quaint seaside hamlet renowned for its pristine white sandy beach, stunning turquoise waters and granite headlands blanketed in smouldering lichen.

A mere five minute walk from SABI will have you on one of the most breathtaking beaches in the world as coined by Lonely Planet and Conde Nast. If secluded beaches are more your style, you will be spoilt for choice with hidden rock pools and deserted coves dotted along the coast heading north.

SABI is easily accessible by car with a two hour drive from Launceston Airport or a little over three hours from Hobart Airport.
