The space

Rent our beautifully renovated 5-bed stone cottage, in the shadow of historic Lindoso castle and its espigueiros (traditional grain stores)!

We renovated this 13th century house a few years ago and it can now accomodate up to five people (2 double beds and one single bed). Everything is there for you to feel at home: a fully equipped kitchen, a large bathroom and a 45 sqm living room (480 sq ft). There is a courtyard and garden outside, walled off from the (very quiet) road and with picturesque vines providing shade. Parking is available either in the castle carpark or in the courtyard itself. The village is small (around 150 inhabitants), and extremely peaceful, with the only noise being the odd passing goat!

The thick stone walls mean that the house stays cool during the hot summer days and is the ideal base for discovering the cultural heritage of old Portugal and enjoying the amazing Peneda-Gerês national park (check it out on Wikipedia!). A 30 min stroll into the mountains will bring you to beautifully clear secluded natural pools formed by the river which feeds into the lake - perfect for bathing!

The nearest town is Ponte da Barca (20km) where you can find a large supermarket, swimming pool, restaurants, bars, internet cafe, hospital and other services. There is a small grocery store 2km away, and a bar-tobacconist in the village itself. We are one hours' drive from Vigo airport and 90 minutes away from Porto airport (there's also a daily bus service from Porto to our village), and just 1 hour from the beach (Viana de Castelo) or the historical cities of Braga and Guimaraes (both are UNESCO World Heritage sites). Further afield, you can visit Santiago de Compostela in Galicia (two hours' drive).

If you want to know more, send me an email and I'll be glad to tell you all about Lindoso and its secrets!

See you soon!!

Its a really nice place within the beautiful mountains of the national park. The house is quite big and very well equipped with a nice outdoor area. Its a perfect starting point for hiking trips in the mountains!

Great place to use as a relaxing and comfortable base to explore the region of Geres National park. House is exactly as advertised, renovations over a 13th century base, with comfortable beds. Lindoso is a beautiful place and to be explored during day and night. Lots of great walking trails, even some waterfalls to go swimming in nearby. Jose's sister Ana was extremely nice.

Very good location for exploring the park. Great views from the house and garden. I recommend to stock up food supplies before arrival as local foodservice places do not impress and it is better to have own meal in the garden.

I am retired and live with my wife, Annick, in a village near Dax, France. We have three children, who left home a while back but who come back regularly to visit.

We live in France, but are spending more and more time in our house in Lindoso, the little village in northern Portugal where I grew up.

We built a small house there with a view over the lake, and also renovated a beautiful medieval property (formerly used as the castle stables) which I inherited a few years ago. Since then we have rented it out to holidaymakers visiting Lindoso, an historic village at the heart of the Peneda Geres National Park (take a look on Wikipedia to find out more!)

We may well be in the village when you arrive, in which case we would be delighted to meet you. If not, my sister Ana will be there to welcome you and answer any questions you may have (Ana speaks fluent French and Portuguese). She will be your neighbour, so don't hesitate to pop round and say hello !

I hope to see you soon !
