You'll feel like you are in an oasis; morning sun-drenched patio facing traditional island foliage, cool en-suite bedroom and a spacious living area.

With modern air conditioning in the bedroom, full kitchen amenities and newly installed broadband internet for all your work or streaming needs, ‘Le Phare’ ("lighthouse" in French!) gives you all you need for a relaxing vacation.

The space
The apartment has an open plan living area, with traditional redbrick floor tiling throughout. There is a fully-equipped kitchen with all the essential appliances (fridge, stove, microwave, grill oven, toaster, kettle, filter coffee maker) so you can enjoy breakfast in the morning sun on the patio! The bedroom is air conditioned and has a queen size bed and generous storage and closet space. The bathroom has a shower with excellent water pressure and plenty of hot water from the solar heater on the roof. The large enclosed patio faces the gardens with traditional Caribbean foliage, and keep a look out for visits from hummingbirds! With our excellent wifi you can sit on the patio and work uninterrupted!
As an added bonus, if you are staying with us you have exclusive use of the pool, facilities and bar at the Beach Club with its modern pool and lounging area overlooking the beach. The Beach Club and closest beach are both located less than 5 minutes walk from the property. Remember to take the access card with you (provided on arrival), but more importantly, remember to leave the card in the apartment before you leave!
The area around the condominium is safe and secure. The property has traditional wrought-iron windows and patio door, with two padlocks on the outer door. The inner door has a lock and an insect screen, but we suggest you could enjoy leaving the windows and doors open to allow the cool Caribbean breeze flow through the property.
Note:
- for stays of two weeks or more, cleaning is provided at the end of the first week. Fresh sheets and towels are available in the condominium for your use.
- there are no laundry facilities on-site, but arrangements can be made locally should this be required and there is a laundromat just a short bus ride away

The area is amazing. As a Barbadian, Matthew knows it like the back of his hand! There are three coffee shops, a luxury duty free shop, a natural medicine shop, a bank and a hairdresser just a few steps away. A 5 minute walk away you have a 24 hour medical centre, traditional Caribbean fresh fruit stand, a wine shop, a breakfast and coffee shop and one of the most widely stocked supermarkets on the island. 10 minutes away is one of the most luxurious shopping centers on the island - Limegrove - with its restaurants, cinemas and bars. But even before that you have the beautiful Chattel House Village selling all kinds of Barbadian-made goods, and a tapas bar with live entertainment.

The area is surrounded by some of our favourite restaurants. "Just Grillin’" is a mid-priced option of grilled meats and hamburgers; "Tides" offers a more expensive menu but with dining right on the waterfront, and then there is one of our faves - "Zaccios" - which is literally on the beach with a bar and a great menu - including a take away pizza service. These are all less than 10 minutes walk from ‘Le Phare’.

About 15 minutes away is a gas station and its little shop, and then two streets full of restaurants, bars and nightlife: First and Second streets in Holetown. For those who like to try their luck at the slots there are two casinos nearby, and one of the best ice cream shops on the island is right there next to the Beach Club, a quick 5 minute walk from ‘Le Phare’.

But this area is not only about entertainment. It’s also about history. This is where the first foreign settlers landed on Barbados soil and the police station and library are both heritage buildings.

Walk a few minutes from the apartment one way and you are at the famous Sandy Lane Hotel. Walk a bit more the other way and you are at Folkestone Marine Park and Visitor’s Center with: a snorkel equipment rental shop; souvenir shop; picnic tables; children’s playground, tennis and basketball courts; washroom and changing facilities and car park facilities.
There is a bus stop within a couple of minute's walk of the apartment, and in twenty minutes you can be in the capital, Bridgetown. Take the bus in the other direction and in 20 minutes you will get to our favourite part of the island - the typical old time Barbadian town of Speightstown, which has our favourite bakery in the whole world - PRC Bakery (be sure to visit and ask for Ramona!).

The beaches are calm, the people are friendly, it is safe and the sun is always shining. We invite you to ‘Le Phare’ to relax, and get away from it all.

Matthew grew up in Barbados and used to visit the Sunset Crest area with his grandmother, and would always marvel at how typical and cute these apartments were - they typified this part of the island for him. We are excited to now be owners of one of these properties, and to share the experience with you.
We have recently bought a new property in the beautiful area of Weston St.James between Holetown and Speightstown. This two bedroom ground floor condo will give you both a relaxing holiday and a taste of authentic Barbados.

Matthew's parents live close by and are the local “lighthouse captains”! They will be on-hand throughout your stay to help with any questions.
