Welcome to the Moose Cabin! This adorable little log structure stands at 12x12 ft, a quaint mountain getaway in the Denali borough.
please do not book this if you are uncomfortable being away from hustle and bustle and having off-grid amenities.

It is easily accessible by car from the Parks Highway, a 30 minute drive from Denali National Park. Enjoy some of your normal comforts while stepping outside your comfort zone with a semi-rustic lodging experience.

The space
The cabin is a cozy log cabin that has all the essentials for your stay. Most would consider it a "tiny space" but we have made it as efficient as possible! There is a comfy memory foam full sized bed, high up enough to store your luggage or bring your canine friend - dogs are welcome if they are leashed on the property and are well behaved!
There is a shower with an off grid setup (you must turn the water heater and pump on outside first.) We are an eco-conscious business so we appreciate people being minimal with their water consumption.
The Cabin is heated by a small wood stove - please ask for help if you are unfamiliar with using one.
You will have your own outhouse right outside of the cabin, with baby wipes and sanitizer for keeping clean.
There is also a fire pit and cooking grate so you can relax in your camp chairs and cook over the fire.

There is a kitchen area with a 2-burner propane stove, sink and cooler. All cooking and kitchen essentials are provided.

** COVID-19 **
We want our guests, ourselves and our sled dogs to be healthy and safe during this time so we ask our guests to please take recommended precautions. Please socially distance during your stay, wear a cloth face mask when necessary ( we can provide them if you would like.)
as of June August 11th Alaska is requiring that all out of state visitors provide proof of a negative Covid test within 72 hours of their travel date to Alaska.

We are providing hand sanitizer, soap and water, disinfectant, clean sheets and towels and we thoroughly disinfect your space before your arrival. We have made sure there is at least 36 hours in between reservations to properly clean the space.

Guest access
The cabin is located right off of our road. You can park right next to the cabin off of the road. We recommend renting a car in Anchorage or Fairbanks before coming to the area. We are 4 hours from Anchorage and 2.5 from Fairbanks. Denali National park is a 30 minute drive from the cabin.

Other things to note
This cabin is off-grid. There is solar power, but it is limited electricity. There is charging capability for small electronics such as smartphones, tablets and laptops. The cabin has lights and USB/DC outlets.
There is a cooler for food, shower and sink but we really encourage our guests to be environmentally conscious during their stay. The cabin is a lovely little mixture of glamping and comfort and we are surrounded by some of the most breathtaking views in the area!

this rental is rural and in a REMOTE area. please be careful when walking around locally as there could be bears or other wildlife to be considerate of. you can bring bear spray if you like, be sure to make noise when walking on trails and don't leave food and trash out.

if you are staying with us after September 15th, we may have to turn off the water due to cold temperatures. in that instance we will discount your stay!

Location

Cantwell, Alaska, United States

The cabin located roughly 2 miles off the Parks Highway in the little village of Cantwell. It is located 30 minutes from the Denali Park entrance, 4 hours north of Anchorage and 2.5 hours south of Fairbanks.
We are on a gravel road, but you can drive any vehicle down there.
We have 1 other immediate neighbor, but it is a relatively peaceful and quiet neighborhood.

There are a few food options nearby. There is a coffee shop/bakery down the road, a BBQ food truck open on select days, a Saloon & Bar that serves food, a gas station that has all of the cooking essentials. If you travel about 15-20 minutes further north, you will find several amazing restaurants including Creekside Cafe, The Perch, Panorama Pizza & Bar, 229 Parks, a Thai Truck & a Mexican food truck.

30 minutes north is "Glitter Gulch" just outside of the park entrance that has more restaurants, gift shops, tour vendors and more.

There is 1 grocery store in the town of Healy, 10 minutes north of the Denali National Park entrance. They have a wide variety of options, but it is expensive. We advise getting any groceries you need in Anchorage or Fairbanks.

Originally from Maine, I moved to Alaska in 2015 with my husband. We have a sled dog team called Wildthingz Dog Mushing, comprised of 30+ Alaskan Huskies. We train and race them in the Iditarod and Yukon Quest, run a small tour business in summer months and homestead in the Alaskan wilderness. I am also a photographer, jewelry maker and painter.
