Hablamos español (contácteme si desea este anuncio traducido). My apartment is brand new. This is an incredibly quiet and safe neighborhood. The transportation is great. I can provide you with a list of places to shop, including "Panchos," an international supermarket within a 10min walk. You can plan with Josefa, the woman in charge of the properties, for anything you might need. We have a four-legged bathtub (see photo).

The space
Riberas del Pilar has a "country"-like style and a flavor tuned with the nature of this zone and by the proximity of the lake (walking distance). The efficiency and predictability that we enjoy in the big cities is something that demands some adjustments from your part in exchange and benefits of the people, pure air, birds, climate, etc. Sometimes, not always, the water in Chapala has low pressure and the electricity is shut down without further notice. Feel free to contact the housekeeper for further information if this happens. When you want to take a bath, it can be frustrating sometimes not having enough pressure and very hot water as you are used to. The water has a lot of mineral residuals due to the closeness to the lake. But, again, this is not always the case and it's not under our control but that of the municipality. Other situations for which the community has no control are: shutdown of water service during certain hours, and no electricity under certain weather conditions. The same happens with internet coverage and service. Due to the lack of competition and the monopoly of companies in the region, we have to deal with these problems. The pickup garbage service are on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. No specific time. Sometimes you will hear a bell which means the garbage is in your area. These inconveniences are not a house problem, but of the region of Chapala/Ajijic/Jojocotepec. It's beyond our control. When you get the keys with the housekeeper, I will send you a list of phones to double check with Josefa. Mainly to check that the thermostat is on (ignite) for hot water and how to light up when it is not on, and that you have the internet code. Wi-Fi and Phone service can be tricky depending on the coverage area; and you have to find the "spots" with the best reception. You will have the basics and more. You need to understand that there are some new rules to learn, and your city habits need to be adjusted. I will guide you the best I can since the house was used last year as an artists and writers' residence. We have a recommendation letter that you can see and some photos in the house. If you have a third party staying, there is a sofa, twin size, that can be used for short stays unless you don't mind sleeping in a hard bed. Kids usually don't mind. The house has wonderful vibes and I really hope you enjoy the stay.

My favorite place for doing supermarket and eating is "Pancho's," which brings and serves international food. When you arrive, you'll will see that the gas station is just two blocks away, a you'll have a 24 hours convenience store (OXXO), a gym next to it, and all type of restaurants (Mexican, of course, Italian/Mediterranean, Venezuelan, and vegetarian). I will provide you with a list of places, but you can discover an entire world to enjoy including weekly food market fairs in San Antonio and Chapala town. I will send you a few websites that contain calendar with list events in Chapala, and Jalisco areas.

During your stay

I will not be available, but the lovely lady who help me as house keeper will come to give you the keys. Make sure she explains the main rules for parking, gas & how to ignite, where the outdoors lights are, how to use the oven, etc. She only speaks Spanish. If this is an inconvenient, we can find a solution. She comes two or three times per week to take care of the green areas, and do some cleaning. If you want to pay here for laundry and for cleaning of your space, you have to let me know and I will arrange this with her how much this service will cost you. Tip her generously. She can also take you in her car to do errands. Please, be generous and tip her well. From June to August I will be doing some minor construction on the second and their level that will be "Miradores" or roof decks for you to enjoy in the near future. The house is a work-in-progress. Thank you and I hope you can have the best stay ever.
